Gender Selection through IVF/PGD is not currently legal in Australia so families must travel to places like the United States of America to have this procedure done. We work with hundreds of patients each year to coordinate the trip and most enjoy a family holiday at the same time!  The National Health and Medical Research Council is currently considering allowing gender selection in certain circumstances and perhaps one day, it will be offered within Australia’s borders but for now, we are happy to assist you with the process.

USA – IVF for Gender Selection – the process

After we’ve talked through your options and you decide to take things further, we’ll email you a medical questionnaire. This will be reviewed by the USA IVF clinic. If you’ve had IVF cycles before, additional tests may not be needed.

We can usually book your IVF treatment date in the USA right away. You can choose a date to suit your schedule. Once confirmed, you can book your flights and accommodation. Most times, only one trip is necessary. We’ll give you information on hotel discounts.

We’ll then pass on your medical protocol and prescription from the USA clinic. We’ll explain the logistics very carefully. We help you get great prices on fertility drugs via our trusted suppliers.

You’ll start your injections at home ten days before your trip to the USA. Once at the USA clinic, your progress will be assessed and you’ll told when to take your ‘trigger shot’, causing you to ovulate on-demand. Your eggs will be retrieved 36 hours later.

The days following egg collection can be an anxious time. But we’ve found that a little sightseeing, eating out and relaxing in your hotel makes things easier. Six days later, you’ll have one or more of the best-developed embryos transferred into your uterus.
