Surgena~ That's too bad :/ here's hoping your scan goes well!
Mrshonyez~ Keeping my fingers crossed for you too!! Wow, still full?! They are crazy busy.. xx
Had my check up today, still 3cm but 70% effaced now. C-section date is completely set, 4/11/13 @ 9:30am. :)

As of right now they are completely full still... So I doubt I'll have much luck in the morning :( and if I don't have the baby before Sunday, DH has to leave again! Ahh! I don't know what I'm going to do.

TT, what will they do if you go into labor before your cs date?
Good luck MrsH, hoping they can get you in!

March 27th, 2013, 11:44 PM
Mrshoneyez- :( ((((hugs)))) I hope they will have an opening very soon, I blame the full moon.. Can't believe they're that packed for this long.
Winn~ Unless labor is so fast that I show up pushing, it would still be a c-section but with the OB on call. Yay for 36 weeks!!! :D
mrshonyez
March 27th, 2013, 11:54 PM
I was thinking the same thing about the moon! Of course my body must not have gotten the memo though lol. But that's ok with me ;) I wonder what they do if someone comes in labor when they're that full though? Anyways, glad you got your date booked!! So exciting!

March 28th, 2013, 12:14 AM
Bummer about the hospital being so full! I had no clue there was a full moon, haha. I really hope they find room tomorrow for you!
No labor for me yet. I am hoping the unit is dead when I go in, I really want the birthing suite called the taj mahal. The whole labor and delivery was redone and this taj mahal room is a corner unit with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river, it is soooo super duper nice!
mrshonyez
March 28th, 2013, 12:27 AM
I didn't either Rosie, I joked about it in my head since they were packed, then a friend mentioned the full moon. I had no clue lol. Oh my gosh, that suite sounds amazing!! We have nothing like that here! I hope you get it! I'll totally be jealous though lol ;)

Sorry for the stupid question, but what does it mean when your cervix is short? Had my 35 week appt today and my doc checked me. Cervix was high and short. I usually get induced due to liver issues, but didn't have them with my last pregnancy or this one.
Also having an ultrasound tonight. Baby was measuring small. I'm nervous...

From what I know, shortening is the first indication of body prepping for labor. Up til about 32 weeks they want you "high and long." And then it starts to drop and shorten before it starts to dilate. So I think it's normal at this phase? But I hope baby measures good on the sono. :)
Good luck mrshonyez! Hope it's smooth and easy!
mrshonyez
March 28th, 2013, 01:46 PM
I'm pretty sure hotdogz is right :) from what I read online, the cervix is 4cm normally, but shortens in length as labor approaches. Basically the same thing as effacement I think! I could e wrong though...
And thanks everyone, this labor has been amazing and completely pain free! I'm just hanging out at 6cm in my room while DH runs a quick errand lol.

Oh how exciting to wake up and hear about a possible new baby :) hope all is well mrshonyez :)
I had a random check last ob appt (she read notes wrong and thought I was 35 weeks with a transverse baby hence the check) and she said I was closed but shortening.. I was only 31 weeks though eek!!!

Thanks!! I wish it was some awesome secret, but they just gave me an epidural and then broke my water, so it was easy peasy! My first two births were pretty traumatizing, so this was a nice change. And even though he's the biggest and I had a 2nd degree tear, I have very little pain now compared to before.

I love epis!!!! This one did cause me quite a bit of pain recovery wise..It was very bad in the beginning though.. constant pain on the left side of my tailbone, and like my whole left butt cheek.. SO strange. I still feel it at times when I lay down so I don't know if it's permanent or what.

My due date is still up in the air, really not sure when to expect the baby! Really hoping for a day between the 4th and 8th. Haven't been having many contractions anymore. I go into the doc today but my regular doc is not in so not sure I will even get a progress check. Not sure if it caused me to actually go early last time but my doc likes to do membrane sweeps at 38 and 39 weeks and I won't be getting one at all unless I make it to next Friday which would be my almost due date anyway, at least my self given due date. Ha.

Huge congratulations mrshonyez!
I wonder who will be next! =)
I keep getting possible labour pains and then nothing ... so infuriating not knowing when it is going to happen. I am normally so organised and have everything scheduled but this is such a major thing and we just have to wait and see!
Rosie - I know what you mean. They don't do any internal checks here unless you go 2 weeks over due so I don't even know how I am progressing. At my last midwife appointment I had a different midwife who said baby was head down but not fixed although she doubted he would move now. I'm not convinced as she barely put her hands on me and he is so low down now I would be surprised if he wasn't fixed!
I'm bouncing on my aerobics ball like crazy, taking raspberry leaf tablets, and trying acupressure points to try and encourage my little man to arrive. I really don't want to go overdue, I'm so uncomfortable now and keep worrying about how I will cope with 3 children so I just want to get on with it!! x

^^That last sentence is brilliant. How I feel exactly. I am constantly wondering how it is gonna be with three...it kills me to have to wait and wait. Not that I want a preemie, but it's hard when my style is more "jump in head first" and I have do much time to think about it!
Hopefully soon for you!

The after pains are supposed to get worse with each pregnancy apparently, I'm really not looking forward to them either! Although I am in so much discomfort at the moment I just want to have my baby now, I'm barely sleeping a wink at night and have my two little boys to look after during the day over the Easter hols. Seriously not fun and I just feel like crying. :(

Gosh, I don't really remember much in terms of after pains with my son... obviously the uterus would hurt a little (just mild twinging) while I breastfed since it was helping it contract back up to size... is that after pains? Or is it something else?
hotdogz&boyz
April 1st, 2013, 10:23 AM
^^I haven't had after pains either time. I mean, some minor cramping when nursing at first, but nothing like what I hear some ladies talking about. So maybe we will be lucky and miss out?!
Two GORGEOUS babies! I can't get over how distinct Mrs littles boys nose is. What a beautiful profile he has. And little Teddy has squishy cheeks that make me swoon. No wonder you ladies are over the moon...they are both edible (not in a creepy way!)

I think maybe it is down to how you are carrying? I've never ached so much as I do this pregnancy, although thankfully it only started from probably about 34 weeks.
I've got really bad period type pain today and sporadic contractions, really hoping this is it!!
I didn't get the after pains with ds1, they were pretty bad with ds2 and I am really not looking forward to them this time! I have even packed paracetamol in my hospital bag as with ds2 it took them about 30 minutes to get any to me and I was in so much pain trying to feed him. That was beautiful Three! We love you too!
So I am in a predicament...I went to labor and delivery last night with a fever and pain. They said I have a possible kidney infection which obviously is serious. However I feel super uncomfrtable taking antiobiotics during pregnancy. On top of that the one they prescribed me isn't well suited for 38+ week pregnant women and cause anemia in the newborn, so not okay with me! I could call and ask for a different kind but I looked them all up and don't like any of my choices. I don't know what to do. I am so nervous not treating the infection whch isn't for sure yet...waiting on results. I am also nervous to take drugs to treat it. Should I wait for the cultures to come back and see how serious it is? ugh I hate this!!

April 2nd, 2013, 06:00 PM
Rosie, yes i would just wait for the results then make your decision, you need to be fit and healthy for your labor, hopefully its not as bad as they think, but do consider the antibiotics if they insist you take them before delivery.
Bimby
April 2nd, 2013, 07:00 PM
I agree with cinss, wait for results but if u need to take them then it would probably be best as you don't want to labour already unwell and in pain. You poor luv, that must be awfully uncomfortable xx

I bet I've dilated a good centimeter more. Earlier I had some intense contractions for a good 2 hours. They were every 2 minutes apart but varied in time and intensity so I knew it was false labor and not the real deal but wow did they hurt!

I had to google it because i had never heard of it, but it does say it can cause euphoria.. thats why preggies use it during labour instead of pain relief meds. Are you feeling ok now?

Wow Pinkin.. I remember reading it when I had DS1 and when I got to hospital with him I was 4cm and contracting so I was admitted as they said I was in active labour. Couldnt imagine walking around at 7cm! That would have been a very quick induction for you lol With DS2 I was 6cm when I got to hospital but I had been contracting every 3 mins for an hour or more beforehand.
Mummypink - I hope everything is ok with you and you are just busy holding your beautiful new baby :)
Winni - have those contrax stayed away still?

When i went in with DD i was 4cm and contracting every 5mins so they broke my waters and gave me potocin drip and 9 hours later DD was born. They probably should have sent me home too, they just seemed to want to rush things along! Im going to wait till im 3mins between contractions this time.

I had him in 3 hrs but had an epidural so I think If I had of not had the epi and been able to move around I would of had him alot quicker... First ds had him in 4.5 hrs and that was only with using the gas!
Bimby
April 4th, 2013, 07:02 AM
Cinss I couldnt agree more with waiting - I was lucky in that they didnt rush me with inducing drugs with DS1, my hind waters had already broken at home but with DS1 being posterior I was in need of pain relief as I was in agony so was very happy to be there lol
DS2 was a breeze in comparison, got to hospital at 2.30am and had him 3 hours later at 5.25am - you definitely know your body second time around :)
Rosie85
April 4th, 2013, 08:54 AM
I believe active labor is 5 cm but a lot of docs will keep you and break your water at 4 if you are having good strong contractions.
I'm suppose to go in immediatley when I notice regular contractions since I am vbac. I don't like it because I don't want to have to lie in the bed right away like they make me. Last time I woke up middle of the night with contractions two minutes apart and strong right away. I was almost a 5 when I got there and it took 4 hours. Hoping it's similar or less this time. 2 hours would be nice.

I started with contractions a few days ago in the middle of the night, they were fairly strong (although not painful) and 10 minutes apart for about 3 hours and then got down to 7 minutes apart. I got up and had a shower and they eased off a bit, we got the kids up and sent off to nursery and I took the dog for a walk and things picked up again so we set off to hospital. Of course in the hours drive there the contractions stopped! When I got there they checked me and I was still having contractions but very sporadic, and I was 2cm dilated so nothing really. They gave me a sweep and said to have a walk around and see if things picked up so we went off into the nearby town and had lunch walked around loads. While I was walking I was getting more and more contractions, went back to the hospital and they calmed down again! I got checked and was only 2-3cm dilated! They said I could stay in if I wanted as my other two labours have been very quick. We called a friend who kindly offered to look after the boys for the night and we decided to stay in the hospital just to be on the safe side. Despite loads of walking round corridors etc the contractions didn't build up anymore and by morning I was ready for home so we came back on the basis that if they start again I have to get straight to the hospital. Very frustrating! I've had contractions and labour type pains every since but nothing regular to make me think he is actually on his way. Just hoping when things do start properly I still have time to get to the hospital!
Plus I really want him to come this weekend as hubby already had to have 2 days off work and they are going to think he is taking the mickey if he has to have more time off next week when the baby finally decides to appear!!
I'm not apprehensive at all about the labour I just want it to happen but I am feeling really down. Not totally sure why, I think I just need to be cuddling my new little man now. xxx

Hello ladies. I need your opinion. Last Thursday I had a growth scan. I was a little over 35 weeks. The tech said the baby weighed about 6.6 lbs. And he was in the 77th percentile. Today I had my weekly appt with a doc that had looked at my u/s from last week. She said baby was in the 55th percentile. She thinks this little guy will be about 7lbs14oz. I've had pretty big babies in the past. My last little guy was 9. Who do you think I should go with, the tech who did the scan, or the doc that looked at it? I have no newborn clothes. And I don't feel like going out and getting some. But it he's not even 8lbs I'll have to. Thanks ladies. And hurry up Mr. Rosie and Mr. Mummypink!!!

Still no teddy over here. Labor stopped completely. Going to go walking today, see if I can get it started again. I think yesterday's contractions probably brought me to a 4 so it will go quick once it gets going.
Isn't it funny how we are in a hurry to have a lot of pain and zero sleep?! I really am scared to go late though as I am vbac and the rupture risk increases with baby size. Doc finally agreed my due date is probably right since its more ovulation based. He said he trusts that over the early ultrasounds.

Argh. My husband promotes gigs and most often has the bands/musician crash at our house. When it was just us I was okay with it but with our son, I've been increasingly uncomfortable about it. All these people are not questionable or suspect, and are all very nice and aren't wild/crazy. It's merely the fact that I don't like using my home as a crash pad anymore. Now with Willow on the way, I've been more vocal about it (especially today as there is a musician from Austria staying who he says he told me about but I don't remember so wasn't anticipating the visitor) and it really pisses my husband off, like I'm being unreasonable?! Just... arghhhhh! (He runs a music website.. reviews music, puts on gigs, etc... so I think he perceives it as an attack on his 'hobby' but when it comes to my private space, I feel I'm entitled to having a say?!)
Anyway, just venting...

April 6th, 2013, 02:25 PM
Oh that would pi$$ me off too Gena. No way would I be letting people stay, especially once Willow arrives. You don't need to be dealing with that. Like I told him, there is the odd one I've met many times who I'd be totally fine with but like... early into this pregnancy, the place he had set up for a band of six Italian musicians to stay at fell through at the last minute... so they ALL stayed at our tiny house... for two nights! They were all lovely and cooked for us, but it was chaos as our house is small... my son's room floor and living room floor was used as bed spaces so our son had to sleep with us... AND it was during my first trimester aka morning sickness. My son and I stayed trapped in my bedroom because I felt cramped and sick and it was a little stressful. Just... ehhhhh. Obviously something I'm going to have to keep talking to him about. I in no way want to get in the way of what he does but I've got to cross the line somewhere.

Thank you everyone for all the nice comments, Colton just fits perfectly into our family :) I just love this little man so much, and he's been such an easy baby so far! I was nervous about breast feeding since I had trouble with the first two, but he's such a good eater. He gained back to his birth weight by 4 days old, and I've been able to already stock up 50 oz extra in the freezer in the 10 days he's been here! However, I think my gallbladder is acting up, so I have to schedule an ultrasound tomorrow to check it. I've read pregnancy can cause problems with it, so I'm hoping it doesn't mess up how well breast feeding is going this time.
Congratulations Tiffany!! What a cutie! And good luck to ynwa! I can't wait to see some more babies!!!
All you ladies have been so amazing, and this has been a wonderful journey with y'all. I hope even after everyone has their babies, we can pop on here once in a while and see how everyone is doing! I honestly feel like I'm not done having babies, but it will be a while before we think of having another. I still would like a daughter someday, but something happened after this birth and I feel I just want another baby regardless. He's just so perfect, as are my older two!

I wonder if ynwa is holding bubs already?? I know she was going to be the first one in theatre but I guess you never really know how long you have to wait until you are there.. I cant believe this will be me in 33 days!!!! It feels like forever but I know it will be here in the blink of an eye. I have an Ob appt tomorrow so hoping I get a proposed time etc Anxious to hear what position the baby is in now too and hopefully get a measurement as I missed out on that last time.
Anyone else have appts coming up?

I have a midwife appointment at 34 weeks, where they'll likely retake my blood since my iron was a little low at 28 weeks.

Holy cow! What a healthy little gal! Congrats all around. I hope everything went smooth as silk. Can't wait to see pics of the "little" lady :)
I just caught up on posts, we have been helping my folks move this week. It's been a bit hectic. I can't believe some of these little ones are stringing their mamas along so much! Come on babies!
Not much happening here. Appt/sono/NST in the morning to check on baby. Just precautionary since I have the blood issue. I am excited to get an estimate on size (despite the fact they can be very inaccurate, they have been on par for both of my boys). I want to start getting a bag packed and want to pick out a going home outfit (one son could have stood preemie and one needed 0-3 even though I squeezed him into a newborn anyway!). I am feeling really good, much better than a couple weeks ago, which is weird. But I'll take it!
Hope everyone is doing well as well!

Just had my Ob appt... Baby is measuring around 5lb15oz based on tummy measurment so about 1 or 2 weeks ahead (depending on which dates you go by). Fluid levels look great apparently and the little miss is in the head down position so all good there YAY!! Problem I just found out though is my Ob is out of town the original day we planned to do the C/S (11th May) and will be away from 7th - 12th May at a conference... My Ob has said she will check me before she goes and if I am dilating at all and things appear ok then she will deliver me on the 6th but she'd rather wait till the 14th when Id be 39weeks as she likes to have them cook a bit longer which I agree.... Im torn though and I know this will sound crazy but I really liked either the 10th/11th May.. My Sisters b'day is the 12th and my stepmums is the 13th and I reallllly didnt want to have my baby on those dates. Im worried that if we wait I will spontaneously labour on one of those days (DS2 was 8 days early).. I know that ultimately that will mean she was meant to have that birthday but if I could choose then Id rather she didnt.. What do you ladies think I should do??? I have another appt on the 22nd April with the Dr that would do my C/S if my Dr is away so I will meet her beforehand (I have already met her for a previous pregnancy and she is lovely) Would you just have her do the delivery on the 10th May or wait for your Ob to be back?? Ultimately this could all get thrown out the window if bubs decides to come before the 10th but would love your advice..
Here is a pic of her yawning at todays scan :) 10361

Awwww Bimby, can't wait!!!! Do you ever go around 37 weeks?
Do May 10th!
I had my sons at 37 or 37.5 they were healthy babes!
Bimby
April 9th, 2013, 04:50 AM
Agreed Butterfly :) I think we have decided on the 10th which would be 38 weeks (or almost 39 by my calculations anyway) Id rather have it planned and organised prior then be rushed through if I labour spontaneously. (obviously that could still happen anyway) Ive never had a C/S so it's not like I can really compare Dr's for that side of things and I know a few ladies who have used this particular Ob for their births and loved her as she is very calm so that has eased any concerns. Soooooo all going "to plan" I will now have bubs on the 10th May :)

All was well at my appt this morning. Baby was measuring in the 50th percentile at 5lbs, 1oz and looked great. She passed the NST quickly and everything is going well. Induction is tentatively scheduled for May 16th at 39 weeks. I am hoping she follows big brothers suit and comes around 37 weeks (both were born around there). But anytime before induction would be great! Lol.

Huge congrats ynwa and Rosie! :D
Still no baby here, I am seriously fed up! I've been 2-3cm dilated since the 3rd April. I keep getting strong contractions that become regular and then it all stops! Arrrgggghhhh! Don't know what to do to get this labour going, I feel exhausted by it all as the worst contractions happen during the night.
I've had hot curries, I'm walking the dog about 3 times a day (where I start to get really bad contractions that then stop when I get home!), bouncing on my aerobics ball, taking raspberry leaf tablets, had a small glass of wine the other evening... nothing seems to be making a difference! My hubby has a job interview at the end of the week and he is going to cancel it as he has rearranged it once and as it is about 2 hrs drive away he doesn't want to risk being so far away in case I go into labour. :(
I feel so huge and miserable, I know the baby will arrive when he is ready but all these false starts are just driving me insane. I'm rushing round like a loony half the time trying to make sure the house is clean, the washing is done, the kids have clothes out ready for the next day etc etc just in case something happens as we have a family member over to help with the boys.
Please send lots of labour vibes my way ladies! I want some newborn snuggles soon please! xxx

HUGE snowstorm here for us today. I asked to go home from the hospital early yesterday and good thing I did! We would have been stuck. Sorry for the delay in pictures but I've had a headache and haven't gotten around to it yet but will soon. I've had very little sleep and am having huge breastfeeding trouble as usual. Went to just pumping and supplementing but pumping hurts as I already have blood blisters  Ugh I hate feeling like I failed at things, poor baby teddy.

April 11th, 2013, 12:16 PM
Rosie...you absolutely did not fail! You are doing great! Breastfeeding is HARD. Be gentle on yourself, you only had a baby two days ago! I hope it gets better/easier all around. I am sure teddy thinks you are doing wonderfully :)
Mummypink: I bet you pop out a baby super quick and very soon. It seems like women who have a bunch of false starts and lots of discomfort have really easy and quick labors. So I hope it's true for you! And soon. I bet you are beyond ready.
And gosh, these babies are gorgeous. It makes me hateful about being due so late in the DDC. Lol. I obviously don't want a baby now, it's too soon. But I really love seeing all these sweet snuggly babies. I want to cuddle one (or all of them!). I seriously am not going to make it through this next month without going insane. Lol.
In a totally, totally unrelated question: can I ask for some GD advice? I have a friend who is preggo and just had a sono at 13 weeks. She has two sons and is dead-convinced this one is a girl. I obviously would LOVE for her to have a girl. She has not even considered it would be a boy (the pregnancy was a surprise and they actually found out fairly far into it, past 10 weeks). But, the nub is obviously rather boy. I haven't said anything. And don't know if I should. I don't think I would say something about the nub in particular, but I wonder if I should mention considering it is a boy or that I have some darling boy clothes I would love for her to have if its a boy (seasons are off from her other two) I feel a bit bad, all of her friends and family are really banking on it being a girl and saying all kinds of things on Facebook. I feel like maybe she is in for a hard fall if it is a boy. And I wonder if she *needs* someone to offer support and/or mention support for having another boy. I wonder if she is putting on a show of being sure it's a girl for her family...but then what happens if she hears blue? I obviously don't want to overstep my bounds. Would you say something to her? Publically? Privately? About gender at all? Or just let the chips fall as they may?
Tiffani3
April 11th, 2013, 01:25 PM
Hbp she's a beauty.
Rosie it's so hard. I'm struggling too. My teddy just wants feeding every hour or hour and half it's driving me mad I'm soooo tired plus my boys are still on there hols really not sure how I'm going to cope next week with ds3 when there back at school.
Hotdogs personally I wouldn't mention it. It very hard to talk about gd even with your closest friends and you never know she maybe having a dd. xx xx
Mrs_P
April 11th, 2013, 03:52 PM
sorry to butt in hotdogz's post just caught my eye. I was like that with ds3 i was so sure he was a girl and it was such a hard and painful place to fall from but then i'm not sure pointing it out would help, especially as you are getting the thing she so desperately wants - with emotions running so high during pregnancy you really don't want her to turn on you. I could really have done with someone keeping my feet on the floor with ds3 but as hard as my family tried i wouldn't listen i was so sure i would get my dream just like everyone else (and we had swayed - ig style), there were 7 of us pregnant at the same time with 2 boys already, i was the only one who a third boy. It felt like they rooting for us to fail and was so hurtful. Things may work out for her but it will be a hard place to fall from if not. Maybe just keep telling her how pleased you are for her and not focus on the gender thing - of her baby or yours (she won't turn to you if you are excited and doing all girly things either). I wouldn't mention the nub but when you come close to 20 week scan just point out your there for her whatever the gender if she wants to talk
Cinss
April 11th, 2013, 06:28 PM
Hotdogz its a tough situation. It depends how close you are as friends. I would mention about the nub theory being online and let her do her own research. If she does she may start thinking its a boy, if she doesn't just let the chips fall as they may.

Thank you for thinking of me, Bimby. :)
Our rainbow is a beautiful baby boy!!! Castiel Inias chose his birthday 4/9/13, 11:30pm @ 38.4 weeks, it was a 2 hour labor which resulted in a VBAC. I called my midwifery doula, believing it was just not a big deal/ early labor but wanted her opinion on what I should do. She came over but by then I was a howling mess in a fetal position on the floor. Everything went pretty quickly after that, we made the decision to go to the hospital. I started throwing up quite a bit (sorry tmi) and still somehow made it to her car. My mom had been called while I was sick and arrived just in time to gather the boys and would meet us at the hospital. Once inside, I was in way to much pain to really talk and my doula was AWESOME with the staff, while DH tended to me. The nurse was really sweet and the OB was a nice one, I lucked out. Once my chart was pulled up and they saw my scar type, I was informed about the 'risks', said that she would suggest still having a c-section... but she also pointed that I pretty much labored, was fully dilated at that point, what did I want to do. I told her if things took a turn, I would have a c-section no problem but since all was well, I wanted to push. Okay, let's have a baby was her response. She broke my water, I screamed Cass out and he was born within a few pushes. I feel bad for screaming so much but man that HURT! I needed a couple of stitches but all 6lbs 9oz of him was totally worth it. This has been such a long and emotional road, thank you for allowing to be a part of this great group.
