I'm really feeling fed up (or not fed enough, I should say) by this diet today. Here's what I ate:

7am: coffee
12:30pm: 1 slice of WW bread folded around one thin slice of low fat cheese with the teeniest smudge of low fat mayo. I finished this and my stomach was still growling like I hadn't eaten anything (the WW bread is tiny and thin, so I pretty much HADN'T had anything). I also had 2 peaches, a tiny bit of blueberry fudge (which, thankfully, is almost gone) and some sherbet, but was still starved.
5:30pm: 2 servings of rice pasta with 1/2 cup low sodium pasta sauce mixed with 1/2 cup no salt added tomato sauce, mixed with 1/2 cup frozen roasted veggies (a great shortcut product I found recently, with only 5mg of sodium!) + 30g of parmesan. It was really tasty and substantial, but I was still starved. I also had one piece of bocconcini from ds's salad and a Pop Tart for dessert.
Snack: I'm maxed out for protein for the day, so my options are limited. I think I'll have some Sour Patch Kids and maybe some of those little yellow plums.

Calories: 1557
Protein: 43g (but I've decided to try not to count protein from fruit and other low sources, as atomic suggested, which would actually bring my total to under 40g)
Sodium: 1009 (yes, I went over today - I don't do that often unless I cheat - I guess it was the Pop Tart that brought me over the edge today)

I need to rant. I am sooooo sick of following a diet where having one tiny piece of white bread with a paper-thin slice of cheese can blow almost half of my protein budget for the day. When I finished my lunch, including dessert, I'd eaten only about 200 calories, but had consumed enough protein and sodium to make me worry about what I was going to have for dinner while staying within the guidelines. I'm HUNGRY all the time - I don't think my stomach stopped crumbling for even one minute today, even immediately after meals (and yes, I'm hoping this is a pregnancy symptom)!! I want to eat without having to calculate everything, and most of all I want CHEESE...lots and lots of CHEESE!!!

Ok, rant over...I feel much better now.

That's me right now, actually...Don't know if it's the protein I'm craving or what but I want it. I was also craving cheese for the last few weeks as well so I started adding goat cheese to my salads since it's usually low in sodium (but high in fat...:gloomy:). I am really hoping this is a symptom for you and I've got my FX for Indira too!!!

{hugs} mocha, I really really hope that the hunger is a pregnancy symptom and that you can start eating properly soon. I'm sure I'll get fed up very quickly once we're actually trying because then I'll just want to be pregnant and done.

I fancy cheese too, in fact I'm just going to have pasta and cheese for dinner!

I forgot to say that I lose 1.5lb this week - disappointed but not really because I know it's not possible to lose 3 or 4 lbs each week indefinitely! That's 26.5lb now and I hope I can lose at least another 10lb before our attempt.

Today I had:

Lunch: Bagel with Flora light and sugar free jam. Velvet Crunch crisp thingies. Mr Kipling raspberry slice.
Dinner: Rice pasta (aka cardboard!) with Flora light and parmesan. Viennese whirl. 2 Fox's Glacier Fruits.
Snack: Don't know if I'll bother, maybe some sweets or a lolly!

I really have become the Queen of eating crap! I have ulcers all over my tongue which I had when I was a teenager and I only seem to get back when I'm run down. Ouch.

I know what you mean about the rice pasta - it's soooo bland! I find that when I splurge and have real pasta I can eat it with almost nothing on it, because I feel like the pasta itself has taste!

That's great!!! When I was losing weight last summer, I'd lose hardly anything one week and then BAM... 3-4lbs gone almost overnight. I doesn't come off evenly as one would expect. Keep it up! I'm so excited for when it's time for you to TTC!

Completely agree about the gf pasta, I've struggled to eat it since I had that bug. I have found the one in a black packet (sainsburys do it) is the best and the shells are the nicest. Zani, I think the weight loss is still good, at least it's still going down!! Mocha, I know how yo feel about the diet but hopefully you're on the home stretch!!! Ootb, it's great you're still on this thread!! Hope you're feeling ok at the moment. Today I had...
No breakfast
Lunch toast and jam, go ahead bar, strawberries with meringue
Dinner risotto with mushrooms and courgettes, strawberries, frozen yogurt (yea valley do a new organic strawberry frozen yogurt, it is really yummy and has no sodium and low protein)
also had lots of tutti frooties again!

Helllloooo Everyone!! I've missed you all!!!

I've had a really hard time getting online the past week as I've had so many things to do! I threw a hug BBQ for my Dh's 40th birthday on Sat., a friends BBQ on Sun, we just bought a new van so we've been cleaning out the truck and exchanging everything over to the van...the kids are sick, I've been cleaning the house....the list is endless...oh and I'm getting ready for a huge wedding this weekend- and I have to make the "mini" head tables cake and 125 cupcakes! It's going to be nuts this week.

Anyway, first of all CONGRATULATIONS BLUE!!!!! I'm so freaking excited for you Hun!!!! I cannot believe that you got preggo with a 7 day cut-off!!!!! Holy shnikeys! Praying that it's your sweet little girl:) :HH:

Me too, I'm thinking that if my attempt doesn't work this time I going to just do vegetarian and try to keep protein low but that's about it! Oh and I'll skip breakfast. I just can't go on like this, it's so depressing!!! Food can really affect your mood. Even though I've eaten loads more this cycle I haven't put on any weight, I'm really keeping my fx for us this time!!!!!!!
Hi Swish! I'm totally interested in switching over to this type of diet...because I'm becoming obsessed and then some days I just totally say "screw it" and cheat all day :( Not a good combo. I need something more doable. I hope that this month is your month Mama!!!

Now I´m going to give you girls some hope: I had a huge temp dip today, was worrying again about my cycle being crazy, but now I´ve looked at FF charts and it could have been an implantation dip..if my temp is up again tomorrow I´m going to test for fun, I have 10 cheap HPT so I can waste a couple :nails:
Fingers crossed for you Girl!!!! Woohoo! Sending pink thoughts your way!!!

Where, oh, where is DM??? Are you on holiday, DM??? Thinking about you and missing you!

Thank you :) Mwa :HH:

I'm 4dpo and feeling really nauseous. I'm planning to test on Saturday (9dpo) or Sunday (10dpo).

OMG I'm so excited about the potential BFP's we have here!!! Oh and I'm so sorry about all the insensitive comments, Mama:( So awful to have to listen to :gloomy:

Z- It's so exciting that your turn is fast approaching!!! You've done so well Z! Try not to worry and just focus on your little PINK eggy being made:) Oh and YECH! about the worm and head lice!!! Oh the joys of being a Mom.

Well, I have some more news....I don't think I can explain it as well as my chart can...just take a look if you don't mind- it's in my siggy. I'm a tad bit pissed right now. ~Sigh~

Talk soon, Girls!

WTH??? Seems like that's going on EVERYWHERE I turn! On FF, it's happening there too all of the sudden. All I can say to anyone else out there is ABSTAIN from DTD all together...Zanacal, that means YOU TOO, lol. If not, make sure your sway is tight (mine sure wasn't...). Oh, Doula...Are you okay??? Yep...2 day cut-off while having a horrible cheat weekend(steak, potatoes...sigh...not a whole lot of it but still) no sylk, DTD like wild animals- me on top, missionary...LOL...so let's just say there was no shallow anything(although I didn't O and I J & D after the deed:)...He did just come off of Saw P for a break and I was taking vitex 2 weeks before for 2 weeks. Basically the only thing going for me is a new moon on the 30th and a 2-3 days cut-off...and we all know that both of those things are not necessarily any good.

How the hell does a person go from Oing on day 28 of their cycle to day 5??? Can you guys look at the cycle before and tell me if you notice anything weird. It looks like I O'd but honestly I wonder if I did...and then the bleeding was just a spotting episode...followed by me Oing on cycle day 28 if you add both cycles together. I'm just so confused and angry right now. Why did we not use a condom!!!??? ARRGH!

I'm sorry, DM - what a shock that must be for you! :hugs: Keep in mind that your chance is supposed to be 50/50 for a girl with no swaying, so every little thing you did will sway the odds slightly in your favour. I'm praying that you have a pink bean in there! In the meantime, treat yourself to some salty, fatty, protein-filled comfort food and give yourself some time to get used to the news.

It just doesn’t make sense. Looking back at your cycles, you went from Oing on the 28th, then the 16th and now the 5th??? I understand the jump from 28 to 16 as you’re taking Vitex and your cycles are just starting to regulate but Oing on CD5 makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE… I’m so sorry!

I completely understand your anger…I’ve been dealing w/it since Friday and even worse, it’ll be our last and I want to enjoy this pregnancy but I just can’t yet. So I might be :( I'm going to stick to the diet for the next 2 weeks and keep my fingers crossed that I'm not pregnant. I will have something yummy tonight though. Well, duh - I just went back and actually read the posts instead of skimming them, and now it's clear as a bell. Sorry I got so confused! I guess I have pregnancy on the brain!

mis2ninos - rice pasta is gluten free pasta made with rice instead of flour. You can find it at most major grocery stores in the health food section, or you could get it at any health food store. It has about half the protein of regular pasta, so a lot of us started eating it to help us keep under 40g of protein per day without starving ourselves.

Exactly- I can see why it was earlier the cycle after starting vitex. It's just so weird. I had EW the days leading up to the bleeding, and I felt like even though there was a huge temp jump around when I was supposed to O...I'm not sure if it actually happened, because if I'm Oing now....that would not make sense. I'm not even sure if that's possible. So I'm thinking that I had a temp jump without ovulation and some breakthrough bleeding of some sort and with the busyness of my schedule/lack of nursing my body just geared up around CD 28(so both cycles are counted as one). What a freakin gong show. I can never do NFP if this is what happens! I'll be like the Duggars! Please, keep your fingers crossed for pink for me. Thanks, Hun:HH:

I'm so sorry about your frustration (HUGS). I honestly am flabbergasted when it comes to how you got pregnant! 7 days is totally incredible! Your hubby has amazing sperm! LOL! HAHAHAHA! Please don't tell him I said that
I have a really good feeling that you'll get your girl:) If a sperm makes it 7 days...it has to be a girl ;) xoxo

Time to list today's food.

7am: coffee
12pm: went to a Wendy's (a fast food restaurant, just in case anyone doesn't have this where they are) with a friend. I got a small fries and a small vanilla frosty (basically just soft ice cream)
5pm: vegetarian Mexican lasagna. I made it with with corn tortillas, sodium free black beans, sodium free canned tomatoes, cilantro, a bit of chili powder and cumin and some grated low fat cheddar. I also used a bit of fresh salsa and plain yogurt as condiments when eating it. It turned out pretty well - dh and the kids ate it without complaint, it kept me within the guidelines, even with the salty fries I had at lunch, and it did a good job of filling me. I also made a big pan and froze 3 more portions for easy future dinners (which hopefully I won't need in a few days...)
9pm: low fat vanilla ice cream with raspberries, Mike & Ike candies

Calories: 1312
Protein: 40g
Sodium: 1037mg (would have been under if I hadn't had that second helping of salsa...)

Been really good today so far:)

I'm not going to calculate totals anymore...feels strangely liberating....LOL! I'm going to stick to foods that I know are ok and try not to stress about totals anymore.

Today so far:
9:30am- Tea with cream and sugar
11:45am- Low sodium white pita with hummus and tatziki, 2 baby cukes and apples/apricots puree(yes...babyfood...hahahaha!)
2nd meal will be small bowl of rotini with parm.
3rd meal...not sure yet.....

How is everyone? I'm doing not so bad today. Trying to focus on the positive...yesterday I was in a fowl mood:( Chances are I'm not pregnant and I ned to focus on my diet for our Oct. attempt:)

Good to hear Doulamama you´re feeling better! Looking at your chart I don´t think you´ve necessarily O-ed.
I´m starting to think about my next attempt, 9dpo bfn today. I know it could still happen but I´m preparing. Would like to find a way to put together diet a little less strict so I can enjoy our holiday this time and relax a little about it, drinking coke, and no fainting for too low blood sugar while hiking :worry:
So we´ll still have a lot of occasions to talk rice&leeks zanacal.
I´ve been really cheating a lot these days, still cooked my boring meals but had a lot of yummie desserts and 8 marmelade rice cakes in the evening.
And I have to confess: yesterday I had breakfast:suprise: I know, that is really stupid in 2ww, I don´t know what has gotten into me
swish, did the spotting stop?
mocha any new symptoms? what dpo are you now?

Dm, I missed your earlier posts, I can't believe you ov on cd 5!!! Fx you get the outcome you want this month! Indira, yes still happening today, one bit of mucousy blood (sorry tmi) so bemused by it, don't think it could be a chemical as I got a bfn the dat before af came. 9dpo is WAY to early to say you're out, fx!! Mocha, any updates??
Today...
No breakfast
Lunch 2 pieces of toast and jam, bit of rice with balsamic, go ahead bar, strawberries
Dinner leek and mushroom risotto, strawberries, frozen yogurt
Sweets again!!

Glad you're feeling better, DM.

Indira - I'm 6dpo today, and I haven't had a lot of symptoms. I feel queasy every morning, but I that could just be the no breakfast thing and my imagination. My cm has turned from creamy to a sort of creamy/watery mix, which is weird for me at this point in my cycle. Today I had some af-like cramps mixed with a sort of stitch in my side for about an hour in the afternoon - could that have possibly been implantation? I'm trying not to get my hopes up because I don't really 'feel' pregnant.

DH is leaving for the UK tonight and he'll be gone until Sunday afternoon. I think I'll be cheating a bit while he's gone - since he's not a fan of my usual, salty, proteiny diet, I normally overindulge in these things while he's away. I'm going to try not to overindulge, but I'm sure I'll sneak some pizza and pesto in now and then as I feel I need a treat :). Hopefully I'll get my BFP on the weekend and can eat all that food with no guilt!

BTW, I was excited today because I found some pasta sauce with only 30mg of sodium per serving. For any Canadians here, it's President's Choice Blue Menu Primavera Sauce - I found it in the refrigerated fresh pasta section.

Mochagirl
July 27th, 2011, 09:08 PM
7am: coffee
12pm: rice with yogurt, rice milk
5:30pm: 10 of ds's fries, rice cake, 2 sugar free cookies, peach
8pm: 1.5 servings of pasta with basil pesto (yes, it has garlic in it - and it was glorious!) and parmesan, a tiny piece of blueberry fudge for dessert

Calories: 1558
Protein: 42.4
Sodium: 709

I'm still feeling starved. I wish I hadn't splurged for real pasta, because I could have eaten more if it had been rice pasta. I know we're allowed up to 1800 calories on this diet, but I've been eating 1200 on average, and though I've been aiming for 1500 lately so I won't lose anymore weight, I'm afraid to go too far above that lest I actually gain weight. I'm holding a packet of candy in my hand and am dying to eat it, but I'm trying to stop myself because it has about 200 calories! I really hope all this hunger I've been experiencing lately is a pregnancy symptom!

Good morning :D

Just updating for yesterday as I actually went out last night! While my friends sank 3 bottles of red wine between the 4 of them I had one small glass and several large diet cokes - I bet I'm the only one without a headache this morning :D The rest of the day went like this:

Lunch: Bagel with melted cheddar and cherry tomatoes, packet Velvet Crunch crisps, Mr Kipling raspberry slice.
Dinner: KFC Caramel Crunch smoothie/milkshake
Snack: Glass red wine!

I didn't eat much yesterday so I'm looking forward to lunch already :D

It came to 1200 calories or so mocha! The wine didn't go to my head funnily enough - and I thought I'd be hungry after only having the milkshake at KFC (it had almost 400 cals in it!) but I wasn't, very odd.

Wow - it's amazing how those calories can add up!

Whereas I was finding before that it was hard to get above 1200 calories, now that I'm eating sweets all the time, I'm having trouble keeping under 1500. I'm scared I'm going to start to gain weight if I get too high, since my body has gotten used to 1200 calories per day (though so far I'm still losing about a pound per week - I definitely don't want to lose any more! I was 112 this morning - I don't ever remember being this light).

That's kind of what was going on w/me and then a week later got my surprise. Before, I could barely get 1200 but then I was always at 1500, maybe even up to 1600 a few times (which is still A-OK for this diet, especially if you're trying to maintain). Hoping that's what's goin on w/you and in a few days you'll get your BFP - still WAAAAY early for a + at this point but early enough to make you more hungry.

Indira....I looked at your chart yesterday and it still looks AWESOME, especially when you compare it to your last chart. If you still haven't got a BFP, don't despair! Still early and my OB says never to test before 14 days.

Mocha, as I said in my last post, still waaaaaaay early for you to get a BFP but it's coming!!!

Real in-your-face nausea has set in today. I haven't thrown up yet but sooo close. I'm popping B6s and wearing my stupid acupressure bracelets. I want to just eat cheese (I think for the protein) and white basmati w/leeks. What is wrong w/me???

Indira, yes still happening today, one bit of mucousy blood (sorry tmi) so bemused by it, don't think it could be a chemical as I got a bfn the dat before af came. 9dpo is WAY to early to say you're out, fx!! Mocha, any updates??
Today...
No breakfast
Lunch 2 pieces of toast and jam, bit of rice with balsamic, go ahead bar, strawberries
Dinner leek and mushroom risotto, strawberries, frozen yogurt
Sweets again!!
Thanks Swish:)

So good to know about the sauce! Thanks M:) I'm seriously dying to know if you're pregnant! LOL! If you are, will you tell hubby when he gets home? Fx'd for you!!!

So glad you had a nice time out, Z:) and such restraint! Holy Dina!

DM - Hoping all is well w/you...:HH:

Zanacal, sounds like you had a fabulous night out w/the girls! WTG w/your diet!

Swish, is it DTD time for you yet??? :luck:

I'm ok, thanks Blue:) I'm so happy for you! Boo about the nausea :( I really hate m/s. I get it until 20w pregnant and have to say that although I'm super excited to have another baby....I'm seriously scared about the m/s. I hope it passes quickly for you, hon:HH:

thanks ootb for chearing me up, right timing, just tested again, bfn.
Now I´m losing hope since I don´t feel anything today, tuesday and yesterday the slighest nausea but today no. Just a cloth of creamy cm that is unusal (sorry tmi). I´m thinking of buying an expensive test and only use that if AF doesn´t show on saturday.
sorry you´re feeling so sick!

I'm sorry you're feeling down:( I hope you have crazy temp jump tomorrow and get your BFP! Fx'd!!!

Afm, I'm flipping starving! I usually am when I O. So after thinking about the past 3 days and really looking at my charts and going over my bleeding, etc I am finally coming to terms with the fact that my cycle totally got the better of me and that it was a surge that didn't result in Oing about a week before the light bleeding. I always start with medium to heavy bleeding on the day of af so I should have clued in. Plus, after I O'd, my temp did not go high enough. So, I combined the 2 cycles, and it makes much more sense now. This was definitely a strong O- I've gotten + opk's for nearly 24hrs now, mega ewcm, super open cervix and last night I had such bad O pain in my left ovary that I had to lay on the couch with a heat pack on my abdomen. I had a big temp jump this am too. So, it's a 3 day cutoff. Makes me feel a bit better because the chances are slim that I'll have any swimmers left. (Blue- no comments please ) the only thing I'm a bit worried about is the fact that(totally tmi!) DH was almost doing IUI he was so deep when he erm...you know... And we used no lube(and there was ew mucus mixed into the brown spotting I had). I'm an idiot. Sigh.

AF to CD7 I ate oatmeal at 11am and a light low carb dinner at 6pm... A few times I ate a little protein or some chocolate.

Since CD8 I have been eating plain white rice at 10am, 2pm, and 6pm... doing until the day after O!

I am still drinking 2cps of coffee (aspartame and coffeemate), 2 diet sodas, and 1/2 gallon of crystal light.

Praying for a BFP at 5-10 DPO so I can finally grill up some steaks.

Hey DM...I'm still hoping for a BFN for you. Send all your BFP dust my way!!

I just had the sauce for lunch today, and I've gotta say it's very yummy. It does have some onion and garlic in it, but atomic said that's ok as long as it's not the primary ingredient. They've done a good job flavouring it veggies, herbs and spices so you don't even notice there's no salt! I are mine on some of those shirataki noodles with just a dusting of this fake parmesan I found with 1/3 the protein and half the sodium of my regular reggiano, so it was a guilt-free lunch and I still have plenty of sodium and protein in my daily budget for a yummy supper.

Thank you!! This is super good to know!

Hi all, feeling very fed up today as I'm so uncomfortable with a tongue full of ulcers. Anyhow, here's my food:

Dinner: Bagel with jam, Velvet Crunch, Jam Tart.
Snack: Strawberry Cornetto

zan, those tongue ulcers are the worst, aren't they. Every now and then I get them and it just puts me in a bad mood. Have you tried holding salt to them? That seems to be the only thing that heals them for me even though the salt stings. Hope they get better!

http://www.bulkbarn.ca/en-ca/products.html?product=2668 This is what it is. I think it works wonders on canker sores:)

Another thing I was thinking about was your toothpaste. Does it have Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in it? If it does I would find one without it. SLS makes the paste foam in your mouth and it destroys the lining on your gums. It's very bad stuff.

Hi ladies - I'm 7dpo now and feeling really bloated and crampy. I can test soon - yay! I think I might cave and use an IC tomorrow morning, just for fun - don't worry, I don't have any expectation of a positive that early.

Here's today:

6:30am: coffee
12pm: shirataki noodles with sodium free pasta sauce and low sodium parmesan, 2 bites of ds's peach mango cupcake, a peach and a handful of raspberries
5:30pm: vegetarian Mexican lasagna, 1 cob of corn, rainbow sherbet and 2 sugar free cookies for dessert
8:30pm: low fat vanilla ice cream with raspberries, a handful of low fat salt & vinegar chips, Sour Patch Kids

I really tried to restrict my protein and sodium for much of the day today, because I knew I'd be having a panzerotti for supper tonight.

6:30am: coffee
12pm: sliced cucumber tossed with balsamic vinegar, low fat frozen yogurt bar (it was very yummy), peach, Mike & Ike candy
5pm: rice cake, 1 slice of watermelon, a handful of small yellow plums, green apple and mixed berry sorbet
7:30pm: cheese panzerotti, peach, Sour Patch Kids

I had to do my best to estimate my totals. Based on the size of the panzerotti (I weighed it), it wasn't too bad. The only nutritional info for a panzerotti I could find included sauce, but this particular one was just cheese and the sauce was on the side. I threw away the included sauce and instead used that new sauce with only 30mg of sodium I discovered, so I think my sodium total was actually maybe 400 mg lower than what I have listed, which means I didn't go too overboard today after all.

Calories: 1347
Protein: 25.8 (I think I tried too hard to limit protein today, and the panzerotti didn't have nearly as much as I thought. Even if I'm underestimating the amount, I'm way below my limit, and I'm happy about that).
Sodium: Somewhere between 1000 and 1527mg - I think it was closer to the former estimate - pretty good for having such a huge cheat

I'm sooooo ready to start eating real food again, as you can tell. I'll be 9dpo tomorrow, and I'm praying I'll get an early BFP so I can reward myself with breakfast!

Deep fried, folded over pizza  Basically, it's a calzone but fried instead of baked. The one I had was tiny and not from a fast food chain but a nicer restaurant, so the salt content wasn't high, but it's definitely fattier than I should be eating. Oh well.

I got a BFN this morning at 9dpo.

I just realised I forgot to add my food for today!

Lunch: Apple & Custard doughnut and strawberry milkshake!
Dinner: Waitrose Mushroom Ravioli with Parmesan melted in half-fat creme fraiche, 2 boiled sweets.
Snack: ww ice-cream, tutti fruttis.

This is one weird diet where the best thing I can find to eat in my car after the supermarket run is a doughnut and a milkshake - I couldn't make any of the sandwiches or salads work!

swish - the Waitrose mushroom ravioli was so good and there was only 160mg of sodium in half a packet so I had the whole packet!

I'll definitely use the half fat creme fraiche again too (I think it's called sour cream elsewhere?) - it was really good with the parmesan.

Another not so great day. I'd better be pregnant, because I'm already falling off the diet wagon.

6am: coffee
12pm: rice with balsamic vinegar, low fat frozen yogurt bar
5pm: I was planning a late supper, but I caved and had some Sour Patch Kids to keep me going
7:30pm: Greek takeout. I did the best I could: fries, tzatziki (yes, it has garlic in it, but otherwise is ok - it's nothing but yogurt and cucumber), Greek salad (I avoided the onions and olives and turfed the yummy, salty dressing and instead made my own with lemon juice, oil and oregano, so no salt except from the bit of feta on top), pita with roasted veggies - this was soooo yummy. I'm normally a souvlaki addict, but I think I'd get this veggie option again even once I'm no longer on this diet)

I don't have exact totals for today since I don't have nutritional info for this restaurant. As far as I can tell, I'm at about 1100 calories, 1000mg sodium, and 25g of protein. The sodium might have been a touch higher than 1000 since I'm sure that pita was pretty high in sodium. The only way I made it all work within the diet was by making sure to eat pretty much no sodium and protein the rest of the day, which meant I was STARVED by the time 7:30pm. Probably not a great strategy since I ate more than I should for supper. I have no excuse for the garlic except that I love tzatziki and couldn't imagine Greek food without it. Still, I'm pretty impressed I ate such a yummy, cheat meal and still stayed within the guidelines for the most part.

DH comes home tomorrow and I'll get back to eating normal diet food again...that is, unless I get my BFP

How is everybody? Any updates, mocha? Zani, great news about you helping out on the forum!
Haven't recorded food for a couple of days but it's been bad, it is ds1's birthday today and we celebrated today and yesterday and my food was not good! I haven't felt hungry though as I've had plenty of food so that's a nice change!!

Mochagirl
July 31st, 2011, 03:49 PM
swish - doesn't it feel good to eat some normal food for a day or two? I find I'm a lot less cranky when I'm not hungry all the time!

I used a FRER this morning with FMU and got a BFN, and just now (3:30) I used an IC and got another BFN. Tomorrow I'll be 11dpo, so if I'm pregnant I hope I'll get my positive then. I need to run out and get more FRERs.

I have lots of little niggly symptoms, but nothing that screams pregnant to me. I don't really 'feel' pregnant, but then again, I'm not sure anyone really does at 10dpo. Today I've had cramps on and off (which could be bowel-related), a runny nose, and yellow cm - it's not creamy, more watery. Up until today I've been so tired I've been practically narcoleptic - every time I sat down to read a book or watch TV, I fell asleep. Today I'm less tired, but I had a lot better sleep last night (my boys have been waking up at 5:30, but slept until 6:30 today).

I'm really, really hoping this will be the month, not only because of the diet, but also because if we TTC next month, the due date will be right around my twins' birthday, which would be hard on them.

Still crossing everything for you mocha x

Today I had:

Lunch: Wrap with tomato and basil phili light, Velvet Crunch, White choc and strawberry cereal bar
Snack: Mini battenberg cake (shouldn't have had that really!)
Dinner: Indian take-away - small portion of vegetable curry with boiled rice and a corner of Naan Bread. 2 boiled sweets and a nectarine for pudding.

I didn't count anything today as I knew we were having the Indian. I was super good and avoided the chocolate fudge cake (which everybody else had hot with ice-cream for pudding!) and the next time I order an Indian it will be once I'm off the girl diet so I can eat something I actually enjoy!!

Ah - a blast from the past! I think this was our first food thread. Yes, I used FitDay to track my food, and I opted to enter everything manually as 'custom foods' using the information on labels simply because at least on that site there seemed to be a lot of discrepancies in the totals they had for certain foods. For example, for plain pasta and most cooked vegetables, it seemed to assume you were adding salt to the water, so the sodium for those items was really high. Since I cooked all these things with no salt whatsoever, I made new entries that reflected the way I ate those things. Once you add a custom food, it's saved for next time you use it. After being on the diet for a while, all my regular meals were saved there, so it took me minutes at the end of each day to add up my totals.

Another great resource I found while on the diet was this:

Calorie Count :: New Recipe (http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php)

You can enter the ingredients and amounts from a recipe and get the full nutritional info per serving. This works great when you're doing your own baking!

My Fitness Pal has tons of foods in their database & they are accurate. Saves a lot of time! It even let's you enter your recipes & serving sizes too to figure nutrients.

ha ha ha that would figure why i only had 1.01 of sodium by yesterday lunch time !!! so what would 0.50 of sodium be in real quantity ? How can i work out the conversion as my sandwich contained 0.50 sodium, the bread was 0.32 and my crisps were 0.19 - im not on the diet yet was just writing it down to get a rough idea of what my limits are now and how i will cut them down. Thanks

This is a great thread, only found it now :) Mochagirl, can I ask how much balsamic, olive oil, oregano did you use to marinate the mushroom in for the mushroom burger that you posted about earlier in the thread? If you can remember :) I know it's a long time ago but said I'd ask on the off chance that you still had the recipe. I'm definetely making that burger!!

July 12th, 2012, 12:22 PM
I haven't a clue! I doubt I measured anything - I probably just poured a good, generous amount of balsamic, used a teeny glug of oil and sprinkled in some oregano. I think when I made them later I left the olive oil out altogether.

Girls, this is a great thread for a newbie! Lots of ideas and inspiration. Today I skipped breakfast, had a coffee around 11. Lunch was strawberries and low fat yogurt. Dinner was chicken and broccoli and cabbage, with salad with strawberries and ice cream for dessert. I'm a lazy swayer, not following anything 100% but I've totally given up red meat, potatoes, bananas and adding salt to anything. Good luck to you all! I'm starting on crystal light today too, just got some.

I'd no brekkie, coffee, lunch was slice of toast and a yogurt, dinner was pasta with broccoli and green beans, tiny bit of Parmesan. Snacks were rye cracker with cream cheese and then for my failure!!- a bottle of corona, packet of hula hoops and a pack of starburst! Not good. Today will be better! I just have a fear I won't ovulate if I lose too much weight as I'm naturally very slim and now I look bony. I've only lost a few lbs but its noticeable already so trying to up calories but stay within ranges.. Hard do

I had a coffee in the am with splenda and some cream, lunch at noon was a veggie wrap with eggplant, zucchini and squash and a little bit of goat cheese (usually swiss, but it was on the go and didn't have the opportunity to melt it). A handful of swedish fish and jelly beans! Dinner was the same wrap, but with swiss and a fat-free yogurt. Some diet root beer to drink and that's it! My body has really become used to this, but tonight I'm really starving!! I took my son to a theme park and walked around a lot, I'm sure I burned off everything

Today I had 3 coffees with unsweetened soy milk in the morning, then I had some lettuce with 1 1/2 white pita bread with cheese spread in it, 3 apricots (oops!) and a bunch of grapes... and a WHOLE PACK OF JELLY BEANS! (365 cal worth of 'em, good grief...)

Dinner was iceberg lettuce, 160g baby chestnut mushrooms, 150g worth of zucchini/courgette, probably 2 tablespoons worth of rice (was taking from hubby's dinner as I wasn't going to have any rice with my dinner due to all the jelly beans earlier!), low fat sour cream, some salsa.

Lunch: I actually forgot to eat at all till about 3pm. It is funny, some days I am STARVING and can barely make it till 11.30am, other days I forget to eat till really late and have no problems waiting. I had some caramel popcorn, a very small amount of rice (half a cup at most) with mushrooms and capsicum in it with some white sauce / parmesan on it, and a nonfat yoghurt.

Dinner: Vegetarian burger patty, white bun, leeks and some swiss cheese melted on it. Yummy. About 8 - 10 potato wedges on the side (my naughty cheat).

Supper: Caramel popcorn, Le Rice apple flavoured rice snack and Peppermint Tea.

Not tracking at the moment as I have done it for a while and got a reasonable handle on what I can eat to stay in the values plus I am not attempting until September or October.

Lunch was a cup of pasta with a heaped teaspoon of creme frache on it, a cup of pureed apple and a non fat yoghurt.
Then went out to a friend's birthday party at a restaurant... was difficult as I was sat on the table with the tasting platters in front of me for about 3 hours. I did have a lot of dip but mainly with celery and a little bit of bread. Got given (and ate... couldn't resist) a massive slice of black forest cake. So as penance for the cake for dinner I just had a cup of rice with another heaped teaspoon of creme frache for dinner with 2 fibre supps to soak up some of the fat. After dinner snack was a Le Rice pudding and some lychees, plus peppermint tea. Hopefully it all came out in the wash despite the cream filled cake.

I have just found out I have to go out for dinner tomorrow to a tavern that has nothing but steaks, burgers, creamy pastas and pizzas on the menu! The best I could do would be a margarita pizza! I am thinking of either getting that, or saying "stuff it" - if I am going out I might as well have my favorite (a pasta carbonara) but making it an entree sized one, taking fiber and eating nothing much other than plain rice throughout the rest of the day! I am at least 5 weeks out from my attempt but hate having an enforced big cheat. Love hearing what other people are eating. For the record I am only tracking my foods on FitnessPal occasionally - I have been on the diet for 6 weeks before and got the idea of what I can and cant eat.

Today: An apple and half a pear at 11am, 2 pieces of mountain bread at 1pm with some leeks on them, one with some mayo on them the other with a sprinkle of low fat cheese. A no fat yoghurt. Peppermint tea.
Dinner: Half a pizza with tomato paste, eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms, leek, and a sprinkle of parmesan on it. Le snack rice pudding for dinner, about to have some lychees and peppermint tea. Do other people find they have huge swings in their appetites? Some days I just want to eat the house down (but dont) and am completely and utterly miserable / weak with hunger. Other days (like today) I eat the same amount and am barely hungry at all. Weird!

Starting the LE diet tomorrow so this thread is really useful. I'm only worried about making sure I have enough calories as I tend to have quite nutrient dense food normally. Happy to eat lots of veggie pasta and curry etc but when I add it up I only get to 1000 or so calories. Have to add in the sweeties I guess to keep me going and get the calories up a little!

What about pot noodles? Low in nutritional value? High in carbs though... Does that matter?

Dreamofpink

I stay away from pot noodles but for slightly different reasons. They are very high in salt which I don't really track anymore but also very high in fat I believe. This diet is high in carbs so that isn't a problem. I think a pot noodle once in a while would be absolutely fine but they aren't particularly filling. I find it helps to treat your calories as money. You have to find the best value - i.e as much food as you can - and I often find foods that are lower in cals and fat and are more substantial too. Nothing's off limits except perhaps oats. Weight watchers ready meals are also fine once in a while but I always wait until the 2ww. However the only one I've found that fits into the daily limits okay if the roasted veg arriabiata. Also Morrisons do a low fat frozen pizza which has 375 cals per half but is high in protein at 16.1g. Another once in a while meal!!

Few more food (and drink) questions if that's ok...
Nesquik milk?
Nuts?
Probiotic drinks?
Semolina, tapioca and rice pudding?
Wine gums? (People have said sweets are good but gelatine bad!?)
Liquorice - I know good for DH but for me too?
And what part of the diet does DH need to do?
Any other food suggestions?

Thank you!

Hi everybody. I'm new here but I have been lurking awhile. I started my le diet today and I don't think I did very good.
9:00 CL and a yoplait lite.
12:00 activia with fiber.CL
1:30 fiber one brownie and a bottle of aquafina
3:30 another fiber one brownie and a cup of plain corn flakes

Total so far today
480 calories
500 mg sodium
13 g protein
10 g fat

I feel that I never should have had the second brownie. Lol. But I work 8-5 so my options felt limited at work. I just couldn't think of anything to eat that I could pack easily. I have gotten some really good ideas from this thread so hopefully I can do better tomorrow. Do you guys think my spacing of foods was bad? I feel like I ate stuff to close together. Any advice would be great!

bowl of frosted shredded mini wheats with skim milk at noon

Drinking dasani and crystal light today, so i dont go much higher on sodium. (sorry diet coke!) Its going to likely be much easier on the nights the hubby works OT, so I can just focus on eating what I want and not make a family dinner. Ill just feed my LO a healthy meal in smaller version. Im too lazy to cook separate for myself, so I work around it best I can.

Today's menu looks great for you! I just had lunch and had 2 tortilla's rolled up with a little hummus spread on each, some peeled and sliced cucumber and a small apple only partially peeled so I could get some extra fiber from the peel. For dinner I think I will have some zucchini and yellow squash sauteed with a little dijon mustard and a little brown rice. I am trying not to snack at all but may occasionally steal a bite of something my boys are having. I am pretty sure that isnot enough protein but am scared to add anything else as I want to lose weight quickly. Stinkin PCOS!!

I should have added the snacks were basically just me trying to figure out how to raise my potassium haha! I added the fruit and yogurt to lunch, and the veggies for dinner. The popcorn was tonights snack. I try to have 2 bigger sized meals, then a light snack so i can sleep, but my blood sugar drops pretty quickly. Sodium is my biggest downfall. I live for flavor so this is hard for me. I literally gagged down the veggies tonight. Whats a good condiment for them, that wont break the bank?

Todays Menu:

The biscuit sliders kill me with sodium. Its definately hard with the husband home, and I dont want to cook a separate meal, so I think what I'll do is lower the amount of ham/turkey/cheese on 2 of them and call those mine. That would lower the sodium, protein and fat but keep me in the normal range. Id be hovering on the calories, so maybe Ill add a cucumber or something.

Just wondering about pottasium levels- a lot of the food I'm recording on fitness pal is coming up 0%- the only thing I'm getting readings on is fruit or veg. Does that mean they just aren't including the pottasium on a lot of items?

SurroundedByBoys
February 22nd, 2013, 02:02 PM
Chances are they arent recording them, I usually click on a couple different link from the same search and look at what seems to be closest. For example, one said there was no potassium in my potato with skin. Since I know it not to be true, I looked until i found one. Sometimes its just better to enter your own info on MFP, since most people there arent tracking potassium.

I have been thinking about it heaps lately as I get sick of drawing diggers for my toddler and think I have two more double rounds of this. Life is very busy and tiring right now but I am loving it. Yes Tree, my three boys are our three boys. He has begat 6 sons. Well 5 if you don't count both of our identical twins because technically only one of his sperm was used to make them. Still 5 is alot and I am very intimidated by his most likely high sperm count doing this sway thing. Just wondering if anyone on here, old or new, knows if mrs dash seasonings/marinades are ok? They have no salt, but the ingredients are largely, generally, garlic, celery and onion - all things that aren't ideal. Also are chillies allowed? Flakes or fresh? Thanks! I think so as I saw someone recommend them. If you are worried use them as part of your diet not as a main flavour. Parmesan has a real kick to it and you hardly need any, also low fat philli mixed with salt free stock makes a nice pasta sauce - I grate in some raw courgette and it is yummy. Basalmic vinegar and dressings are good too. Low sodium hummus mixed with philli makes a surprisingly good stuffing for mushrooms. Good luck!

You're not alone! I read you! I'm kind of making the diet, but I found very difficult not to exceed with sugar, do you track your sugar? I'm not still sure if I'm going to ttc, I have two boys and I'm afraid that I'm going to get another one if I try, so, undecided yet!

Yes, I have PCOS and I'm using this fitnesspal thing and I'm always exceeding the amount of sugar recommended for a 1200 kcal diet (I think it's 25g). I don't think I have an extreme case of PCOS anyway. Do you know if there's a limit on the sugar? Because I don't reach the 1200 kcal, but exceeding on sugar (according to fitness pal...)

Whoops! I bounce day to day it seems from around 20-30g of fat. Ill add a touch more oil or maybe some unsalted butter when I make my popcorn tonight to boost me up. Full fat yogurt is an option too. I was eating the Yoplait lights for the artificial sweeteners since I dont drink so much during the day. Not as thirsty as I used to be, which I can assume is thanks to the low sodium?

I had a LE version of the Jamie Oliver mushroom risotto the other day which was lovely. Stuffed mushrooms are nice too - I use low fat philli, hummus and no slat bread crumbs as the filling- makes the mushroom less boring. Also soups are a good way of eating without going over totals - use no slat stock, 1/2 glass white wine ( alcohol and therefore calories will be burned off in cooking) mushrooms, and whatever veg you have hanging around. If you have fat and sodium left over at the end of the day , all soup benefits from either having Parmesan or low fat philli stirred in. Have you tried griddling veg and then dressing with basalmic vinegar or basalmic dressing? Courgettes, aubergines and mushrooms work well and are good LE veg. Red pepper is Devine but a bit higher in vitamins.

Oh I forgot! I had the Chinese pancakes they serve with duck the other day and they were amazing with cucumber, iceberg and other bits in. The pancakes are just flour and water no salt at all. You can make them yourself and they are very easy - also so thin that you get less carbs per serving than normal wraps.

I totally had to Google courgettes and aubergines, I had never heard of them. We call them zucchini and eggplant here. I love eggplant (aubergine) and might pick one up to make a sort of parmesan dish with it. That way I feel indulgent :giggle: Thank you for the tip! Im either food shopping today or tomorrow and will likely pick some up.

Heres what Im going to eat today:
Lunch- 2 slices toast with unsalted butter and sugar free jam, banana, peeled apple, and a yoplait light yogurt
Dinner- Spinach lasagna roll and a small slice of garlic bread. Ill eat an end and make sure not to put too much garlic on it.
Snack- Popcorn and some watermelon sour patch candies

Fat- 28
Protein- 30 (Low, but Im eating a steak tomorrow for my anniversary so itll more than make up for it!)

White bread is a killer on the sodium - some has more than salt and vinegar crisps! Pasta is a great calorie provider as long as you have a sensible sauce - I like mixing low fat philli with a bit of the hot pasta water, grated courgettes and Parmesan. Cous cous or rice salads are good too. If you fancy something sweet then popcorn made on the stove with a teeny bit of oil and shaken with icing sugar is nice. Oh and I couldn't survive without matzo or no salt rice cakes.

You can eat fruit too - strawberries, white grapes and peeled apples are very good LE food.

There are lots of recipes in the dream section that atomic made up - far better than my suggestions!

Hi Sarajoy, a but off topic but do you have a machine to air pop corn? Is it better than doing it in the microwave without oil? What do you flavour it with and what brand machine do you have if you have one? Sorry to jump in. I have an air popping machine that I got from Lidl and it's excellent. Usually I just put some in a bag with caster sugar and gave it a good shake. I've also made a toffee sauce for the popcorn but it was so gorgeous I couldn't leave it alone so maybe not such a good idea for le!

The machine was from lidl, not sure when or if they'll have them back in again soon. The popcorn, I usually buy from a local weigh & save. Homemade popcorn is lovely and doesn't have the chemically taste of the microwave stuff. I think it's perfectly acceptable, when it's drizzled with homemade toffee sauce it's fantastic! :D

you guys are good. This LE Diet is killing me!! I do fine until dinner. That seems to be the hardest for me. Especially when I have to make dinner for the family and then something separate for me. I hope I get preg on the first try because I can't imagine having to do this diet for 4 months.

Breakfast at 11:30..yoplait with banana or strawberries, coffee with skim milk in the am
Lunch 2pm...white rice with green beans, skinned apple, soda 1-2 to fill me up between lunch and dinner or crystal light x2
might snack on rice cakes, wheat thins because i am starving by 5pm!!!
Dinner I pray I will not eat any of the regular dinner that I make and I improvise with what ever I am making for the family and just not eat the meat.

Good luck girls!!!

I am starving all day too. I am up every morning by 5am to work out for 60+ minutes. Then I die all morning from hunger... I drink 2-3 cups of peppermint tea during the morning (same tea bag) and the same thing in the afternoon ( new tea bag) with lots of water. Lunch is between 11am and 12:30. I eat a big bowl of rice and beans with some jalapeños for flavor (unsalted rice and beans is the worst)! I usually eat a rice cake/piece of fruit/ leftover veggies too to try to hit around 600 cal. Dinner is usually rice pasta with a little marinara and sautéed veggies. I end up nibbling on what I made the family too. I also have 1-2 glasses of wine (3.5 oz each) depending on where my calories are.

Our family is currently gluten and casein free. When I add in vegan-style cooking, that doesn't leave me many options. Oh, and I might as well say, I cheat (hard boiled egg here and there, homemade granola bar when my kids drive me crazy, etc.). Working out and eating so little it is hard for me to sustain the discipline. Hoping the combination of everything makes a good pink sway and I don't have to do this much longer.

Hi Ladies

I've just discovered this site. Wow it's amazing I've been really struggling with the cans and cannot eats with the pink diet, I find alot of other sites contradict each other So this forum is really helpful.

Just wanted to ask on a few things really, I'm only on week one of the diet and kept reading chocolate is a major no no but then I've seen quite a few posts that people are eating chocolate, so now I'm confused. I thought caffine altogether was forbidden on this diet so you thoughts on this would be a great help. A few other things I'm unsure on is should I be drinking lots of cranberry juice and what is the best supplements to be taking, as again websites contradict each other (really sorry if I'm posting in the wrong area)

Thanks in advance ladies.. Lost of pink baby dust to us all :) x

There is more than one TTC a girl diet. They are not all in agreement. So before anyone can really tell you what to eat or not you have to decide what diet makes the most sense to you - if it's the "mineral" diets like FGD/IGD or if it's nutrients and maternal condition.

I'll put my day in as I struggled today!

9am - black coffee
11:30am - 'fake stroganoff' on a small piece of homemade salt free bread (AS is right - it does taste better than it sounds). I didn't have any sour cream so used a small splash of cream and a squeeze of lemon and I only used a teaspoon of butter and a non-stick pan rather than the tablespoon from the recipe. Also had a few strawberries

2:00pm - diet coke (I have NEVER had a full soda before this week in my whole life, but they are really hitting the spot when the hunger kicks in. Not usually a sugar person, but something has to replace my salt addiction!)

3:30pm - A rice cracker with a teaspoon of homemade hummus and half a cup of rice crispies.

8:00pm - Pizza! I have been having this every night and it is great! A small, homemade pita base. A very small amount of either pesto, hummus, tomato paste. Pile it high with veges. Tonight I had a tomato, a yellow pepper and a very small courgette sliced on top with a VERY SMALL (one ounce or less) of mozzarella on top. In the oven for 15 minutes and done!

I came in at 26g fat, 19.5g protein, 950 calories. I need to work on upping my protein.

I have cut out meat for this diet. Does anyone have any ideas on how to up protein without meat and then limit fat?

Thanks and good luck to all of you. My numbers seem low, but I feel like I am eating loads compared to some of you!

under 1200 cals is too low to sustain a healthy pg.

in the dream members section, in the "le diet" forum is a thread called "quick fixes for diet disasters". That has lots of ideas on how to up protein without adding other nutrients and without meat..

at 26 g fat, you are at barest minimum for fat intake anyway. you can have 20-30% of your days' cals from fat.

just want to verify that you know that low carb veg are free meaning you can have as much as you want. so if you were including those in your day's totals, you actually need to eat even MORE.

boymama
July 18th, 2013, 01:27 AM
Great! More food! I actually had a dairy based dessert before I went to bed last night which upped everything, but I think I need to include a poached chicken breast or something for protein. I can't get tofu where I live.

Don't worry mis2ninos, the diet is HARD! Everyone has days like that.

I think I have worked out what my problem is with not getting enough fat and calories. I used to graze ALL DAY. I never, ever ate big meals, I would just pick at food constantly. I have found cutting out snacking so hard, but I also find it hard to eat the amount of food I need to when I get to my meal times. I have started adding in a high fat and calorie snack in the afternoon which has helped.

Yesterday, I took my boys out for lunch. I had steamed rice and stir fried veges. I am sure it was way over on the sodium, but I am not really keeping track of that. In the afternoon I had a piece of cheese and two squares of white chocolate. For dinner I had some rice with mushrooms and an egg as I was still really under on protein. I think I came in under all of my amount, but within limits.

Sorry, I will try and keep up! My husband just got back yesterday from climbing Kilimanjaro so there was no internet time. Yesterday I had a piece of pita bread and a piece of toast with a little hummus for lunch. A square of home made muesli bar for dessert and a coffee with 2%. For dinner I had 1/2 cup pasta, 1 cup cauliflower and 1 cup of home made sauce with no fat, so I had a small sprinkle of cheese and two glasses of wine.

I also exercised for just over a hour.

I know what you mean. I blew my sodium today 1700! Today was happy hour with some girls after work so I had a handful of tortilla chips and cheese dip. Lunch was a cup of pasta with 1/4 cup pasta sauce. Then since I was late coming home I picked up kfc :( had a half a cup of mash pots with gravy half a cup of Mac and cheese and a chicken leg. Oh and the biscuit can't forget that especially since it contributed to 500 Mg of my sodium! Grr but calories are still low just under 1,000. I know I should up them but it was really nice weighing myself to see I had lost 3 lbs. I can stand to lose about 5 more before our attempt in two and a half weeks.

Well I've made up for my low cal days! Yesterday no breakfast lunch was at a restaurant with co workers and I had a turkey sandwich with fries while everyone else had the famous cheeseburgers :(

Dinner was salisbury steak with noodles.

Today was the worst. It was another work conference lunch and Italian catered so I had garlic bread and red sauce pasta. Pizza for dinner 2 pieces. Its now the weekend which is my weakest time so I'm going to try and stay on track.

How have the last couple days been for you? Good luck for this weekend!

Last night was a disaster. Indian (samosas, curries with meat and rich sauces etc) and about four glasses of wine with friends. I am not calorie counting anymore as I was finding it too stressful. I feel like I know when I am under or over now. I only have an iceberg lettuce salad for lunch yesterday because I knew I was going out for dinner so all was not lost.

Keeping it light today to make up for it. I had a cup of beans with a teaspoon of blue cheese and a cup of mushrooms for lunch.

My exercise has been going well and I did 65 mins of cardio 6 days last week. One of those was me being a mad woman in a hotel room as the hotel didn't have a gym.

How is the weekend going so far? I think my co-workers think I am crazy as I was ordering greek salads twice a day.

After an hour of intense exercise this morning, I just couldn't hold out until lunch, so I effectively had an extra meal. I have still been STARVING all day. I really worked out hard this morning, so that may have something to do with it.

I ate two pitas with cream cheese and jam at about 9:30. For late lunch I had rice with veges and two egg whites, plus a cappuccino with no fat milk. For dinner I had half a cup of pasta with pumpkin and cauliflower. I also had a yoghurt and some rice cakes. I am hoping that tomorrow is off to a better start.

I know this is not the 'glass half full' way to think, but I have only been doing this for two weeks and there is still two months until our first attempt!! Some days I feel ok. Today I feel like this diet sucks.

How are you going?

Well even though you went over your cals you still ate good girl friendly foods! Yesterday I had a lunch date for a $5 burger oops eating out is my big problem. Now that my attempt got pushed back a month and I'm
On my period I guess I've been slacking :( today was better piece of bread with cheese for lunch, a small serving of breaded chicken for dinner and some mash potatoes with butter. I still feel really full so im kind of worried about what the scale will say in the morning :(

I've literally just started on this diet and it's beyond hard :( and it's not evening noon yet lol...My question is, if you're super duper starving in the morning, is it ok to have a diet coke or something or is it best to just starve to keep BS low????

mis2ninos
July 31st, 2013, 12:17 PM
Definitely ok to have a diet coke or some coffee :) I have to every morning. I have to say though the skipping breakfast does get easier as you get used to it.

July 31st, 2013, 12:57 PM
I agree with mis2ninos. I have gone from never having a full soda in my whole life to having two a day at least with my first one usually at about 10am. I also have a black coffee with sweetener first thing. And skipping breakfast does definitely get easier.

I had a roast vegetable sandwich for lunch today, but there was a lot bread and a lot of oil soaking in so I am sure it was really high in fat. I am just going to have a salad for dinner to try and balance it out. No idea what the cals and fat were as I ate out for a work lunch. I have been really good with my exercise which I am proud of so far. It will be hard to keep it up for the next seven weeks, but I am going to do my best!

Yesterday was a good day. I had mushrooms on a piece of pita for lunch with a large cappuccino. For dinner I had one serve of pasta with homemade vege sauce and, a couple of tablespoons of fat free cream cheese and a no fat yoghurt. I came in right on target.

I have also been having 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon with some sweetener and hot water as a tea after dinner which I am enjoying and it is an easy way of getting the cinnamon in.

Mis2ninos - I know what you mean about eating out. I have to go to so many work functions, travel for work etc and it is hard to always get a good idea of how much you have eaten or make the right choices. It is also hard to get the exercise in sometimes!

odd - the diet gets easier! I am not thinking about food as much anymore (and I have only been on the diet for a bit over two weeks!). Apparently, once you get a feel for how much you can eat, and what kind of foods, you don't need to keep track of everything as much. Just make sure you are getting enough calories and protein! In the first week I was trying really hard to be strict and ended up going way under on everything which is not going to help anything except to stop ovulation! But, I am no expert.

What a horrible first day on my diet..

I was starving when I woke up at 7 but managed to somehow hang on til' about 10 - then I had a diet coke just so I wouldn't pass out lol..

at 12:30, I had a tea with homemade salt free bread and a few bite of pita chips
, a handful of almonds and kale chips..

I then fell asleep with my son which was nice coz I wasn't think about food lol...we ended up having a huge meal of chinese food tonight. Vegetable lo mein and 3 freaking spring rolls..

oh well, at least I didn't mindlessly snack :)

Hi odd. That looks like a good day. If I were you, I would replace the almonds, which are really high in fat and take up so many of your precious grams, with something more filling to help you not get so hungry.

This is what I eat pretty much EVERY SINGLE DAY (boring, but easy)

Lunch is either a slice of bread or a pita with 250g of mushrooms (about 1.5 cups) cooked in about a teaspoon of butter with 1/2 cup of fat free cottage cheese stirred in at the end. Sometimes I add a leek or some parsley or something, but most of the time just leave it plain. I have this with a large cappuccino made with no-fat milk or 2% depending on where I am and what is available. This really, really fills me up.

For dinner every night I have 1 serve of pasta (1/2 cup dried pasta) with 1 cup of cauliflower (which makes you feel like you are eating more pasta) and a cup of mixed veges as a bit of a sauce (usually with a tomato to make sure I have enough potassium). Sometimes I add a bit of parmesan. After dinner I have a no-fat yoghurt sweetened with aspartame and a tea made with 1/2 tsp cinnamon and a bit of sweetener.

During the day I often have a couple of coke zero's or a black coffee.

If I am starving in the afternoon, which is rare, I have a couple of flavoured rice crackers and don't think twice about it. I feel like I stress way more about being hungry than I do about having a rice cracker in the afternoon if I need it.

Don't know if this helps, but it is getting me through the weeks at the moment, even with running each morning.

Yesterday (2nd day) was a little better.

a very late Breakfast: a cup of tea with 1% milk & a couple of homemade salt free pieces of toast with a tiny bit of strawberry jam.

Lunch: a hotch potch of veggies, brown rice and lentils cooked to death lol and a a very small piece of leftover red velvet cake (kiddo didnt finish it so I HAD TO ;)

dinner: Veggie pasta with mushrooms & Zuchini.

I also ended up having a snack of 5 almonds and roasted kale chips...It'll be hard to wean off of the 'healthy snacks' that I'm still craving but hopefully soon, I'll be able to behave ;)

I did go over protein and sodium intake just a bit - but since I'm just starting out and learning, not gonna freak out over it.

Carbs: 135
Protein: 40
sodium: 1300

Boymama I think I'm going to start eating like you! I had such an awful weekend! I think having this months attempt shot (dh is going out of town) made me slack on the diet. I really need to get back on track. Hopefully these guilty feelings will make me think twice next time lol. Today I had to have a yogurt with aspartame at 11 then had a hot pocket for lunch, dinner was broiled chicken with tons of garlic (bad I know) and a baked potato. I even had a chocolate snack tonight. Sigh. Back to the drawing board tomorrow!

Good second day odd. How have you gone today?

I am having my day off exercise today which is a relief. Same food intake for me here. I know it is boring, but it helps not to think about it.

I went to a bbq on saturday night and I know a few people were wondering why I wasn't eating much, especially as I am so skinny already! I wish it was socially acceptable to say, 'actually I am on a restrictive diet because I want to try and conceive a girl'...sigh..

Lol I know exactly what you mean boymama!! I keep having pop tarts and kool aid at work. Today I think I did good. No breakfast, Just 1 pop tart at lunch with a coke, nothing til dinner, I had 2 cups of spaghetti with low sodium pasta sauce. Having a vodka cranberry now and relaxing. Glad Monday is over and I'm back on track :)

August 6th, 2013, 12:46 AM
Well done mis2ninos! Yesterday was ok for me. I had an egg on a piece of toast for lunch with a cappuccino. For dinner I had a small serve of pasta with vege sauce and some rice crackers. For a late snack (which I usually don't have, but I had dinner really early) I had a fat free yoghurt and a couple of strawberries with my cinnamon tea.

I have woken up with a really sore throat this morning after being up and down all night with my babies who both have bad coughs. My day off exercise was yesterday and I really, REALLY, don't feel like hitting the road in the cold for an hour this morning. I will try.

August 6th, 2013, 03:08 PM
We've been on the road so not doing so well - thankfully, time is on my side so I'm just focusing on learning to control my cravings and stop mindless snacking.

For Breakfast, I only had cofee with 2 equals and creamer. For lunch I spoiled myself coz i spotted my fav deli that so had a veggie sandwich and a slice of a very tiny pizza with chips.

For dinner, I had a small serving of curry and white rice..and no snacking whatsoever..yaayyy

It is good to treat yourself sometimes. It makes the diet bearable!

I have upped my cals a bit as I am losing weight too quickly. I only had a MAX of 5lbs to lose and I have lost 4lbs already and still 5 weeks until my first attempt. I don't mind losing a couple more, just want to make sure I don't stop ovulating.

I had a large cappuccino with no fat milk and pasta with homemade sauce for lunch at 12.

5pm I had a diet coke and some flavoured rice crackers

7pm I had mushrooms on a slice of bread, a no fat yoghurt and three squares of white chocolate.

I had a couple of peppermint teas as well and also did an hour of exercise.

I ovulate in a week and I just don't know whether I should move our first attempt forward to this month. I have only been on the diet for not quite four weeks so I would be under the six week period and only exercising for four weeks. I think I will wait as I know this will give me the best chance, I am just so scared of losing too much, stopping ovulating and then having to increase everything to fall pregnant. Looking back at this last paragraph, it doesn't seem like my testosterone levels have lowered very much!!! haha.

Boymama good job squeezing that exercise in! I wish I could do more girl friendly dinners but our mil lives with us during the week to take care of lo and she would definitely be all in our business if all of a sudden I was eating a cup of pasta every night.

Boymama it might be good to try an attempt this month! Your diet has been good, plus it might actually help that you are feeling sick and not getting good sleep right now! I would go for it!

mis2ninos
August 7th, 2013, 12:36 AM
Oops I forgot my log today. So breakfast was coffee with creamer, lunch was a cup of pasta and sauce. Dinner was a quick one I had an awful day at work so I ate two chicken tenders and probably 2 servings of French fries, I added just a tiny bit of salt to them. No snacking tonight and now it's off to bed! Good luck for tomorrow!

boymama
August 7th, 2013, 12:51 AM
Thanks mis2ninos. It is so hard for me to know if I should conceive ttc this month, or whether I am just trying to convince myself that it is a good idea because I am impatient, sick of the diet and over the exercise! haha.

Your day looks good today. Well done having your mother in law living with you! If it were my husband's family, it would be the stuff nightmares are made of! Joking. They are not that bad, but we have a tolerance of about two nights before it all starts to fall apart.

Breakfast has been nothing but coffee with a couple of equals and 1 creamer at around 10:30 - 11

Lunch: white rice with either low cal veggies cooked to death or curry in very small amt.

Dinner: same

Was pretty bad yesterday and snacked on popcorn, pita chips and ice cream :(

Good work odd and welcome back GT77. I have upped my cals to 1800 as I was losing too much weight and I want to be on the diet for another five weeks before our attempt.

I had two pieces of bread with no-fat cottage cheese and a tomato for lunch, a coffee with milk and a no fat yoghurt.

At five I had a coke zero, a couple of rice crackers and a small piece of bread and jam.

For dinner I had some rice, low nutrient veges, a no-fat yoghurt and a small piece of nougat.

It seems like a lot of food, but I was wasting away and I need my cals to be higher. I am hoping most of the food is empty cals.

lunch: again my fav deli before we leave - had a massive deli sandwich, chips and diet coke - and they were giving away free bite size samples of caramel cinnabons...ooooh, it was so ooey gooey and warm and moist..lol
dinner: small serving of rice and curry as I was pretty stuffed from lunch earlier.

I would have caved too, Odd!! Yesterday I only had a coffee and a piece of bread for lunch as I new dinner was going to be massive. We had a bunch of friends over. I love to cook so made a massive feast. I actually only had one plate and not a huge amount of food, but it included some beef and some chicken, and also my friend's DIVINE chocolate mousse cake. I did it justice by having a second small piece. Also had a glass of wine. Very restrained considering it was a red wine tasting night and there were about 11 mystery bottles we were guessing on. I only had a small sip of half of them.

I know! But I knew what it was going to be like and just accepted that I was going to have a wonderful dinner and tried not to stress about it. Yesterday we went to a BBQ, but I ate some bread and a glass of no fat milk before we went and just had salad when I was there. No one seemed to notice. One of the salads was a potato salad, but I only had a little bit.

For dinner I had a small amount of pasta with low sodium, low fat sauce, a yoghurt and a couple of rice crackers.

boymama have u decided to give it a go and ttc this cycle?

boymama
August 12th, 2013, 10:48 AM
If it is a short cycle, no. If it is a long cycle, maybe.

I have been taking vitex and this last AF has been really weird. I usually only have AF for 5-7 days and it is CD 12 and I am still spotting and no line AT ALL on OPK (I usually get a bit of a fade in). I am not sure what is going on. If it goes like this for another couple of weeks, I think I will give it a go, but if I stick to my normal 30ish day cycle, I am going to wait until next month.

Atomic said that it was a better idea to stick it out for another month and up calories but keep the intense exercise going. That is the plan at the moment.

Today was the first day in over a week that I woke up energised and without a sore throat and feeling like staying in bed all day so I am feeling a lot more positive!

It is only mid afternoon here and so far today I have had some green beans and half a pita bread with a coffee for lunch. Dinner will be pasta as it normally is.

Good luck to everyone else.

How long until everyone has their attempts?

I was gonna be out all day so had tea and a pb&j sammich w/ oatmeal bread
very late lunch/dinner was a deal from pizza hut..they had a $5 deal for personal pan pizza along with garlic bread and a drink lol so kiddo and I shared the meal. we both had 2 very tiny pieces of pizza each and 1 garlic bread along with diet coke.

Today I had a bagel and low fat cream cheese and for dinner couscous and unsalted butter tsb, and 1lb or roasted cauliflower. And, some candy. I actually a little hungry so i am going to have something else tonight. I really pray that it works and I can have a little girl after all this. :)

Welcome Funkyfry.

My weekend was bust. Saturday we had a wedding. I had lots of delicious food (tried to avoid meat, but wasn't perfect) and far too much delicious wine!

Sunday I somehow didn't eat until midday, but once I started eating, found it hard to stop and had about four small meals!

Back on the bandwagon today. So far I have eaten out with DH for lunch, but only had a small slice of bread with hummus, some grated carrot and 1/4 avocado. I also had a coffee.

I really feel like eating again now, but will wait until dinner.

Do any of you find that if you have one bad day, it throws you off for a few days after? I just really miss snacking today :(

I have officially been on strict LE (apart from this weekend's slip up) for six weeks.

Is there a current meal thread for January?? I have looked over this thread like crazy and I know for 100% fact I will fail if I have to eat bland foods. Is it okay to eat things like low sodium vegetarian stir fry as long as I stay within my ranges for proteins and calories and fat?? I am reducing my sodium intake by a ton but not keeping it crazy low. I am averaging 1200 mg.
