My day:
10am black decaf coffee
11:45 WeightWatchers vegetable soup, plain bagel, Walkers Baked crisps and an Orangina. Then a WW (WeightWatchers) jaffa cake bar.
4:45pm Cassava chips, peanuts and my delicious Gin and Tonic!!! (I LOVE it that this sways pink).
7:00pm I'm going to have a small cheap pizza which I'm adding peppers and mushrooms too, with a glass of red wine (I know white is more pink but I've not drunk white wine, unless you count champagne, for at least a decade, and I love strong red wines!).
Totals should end up 1763 cals, 32g fat, 51g protein

By the way, I'm not watching sodium at all this time round as Atomic says there's not much evidence and as I'm trying to eat more processed foods this time, it's tricky to avoid sodium!

Epic epic fail... I am a stress comfort eater. We have a LOT of stressful stuff going on ATM (husband has been made redundant, for a start....) and yes I know stress is "Blue Territory".
Anyway...
1pm - quinoa, veggies, tahini & low sodium soy sauce.
2pm - oh dear.... Huge blow out with my work afternoon tea, a pile of baked dim sims & curry puffs & sausage rolls & God knows what else. And brownies.
6pm - steamed green veg.
Also - 3 glasses wine.

From what I understand that kind of stress sways pink so I wouldn't worry about that ruining your sway. I think it's "obsessive stress" (people obsessing about their sway) that sways blue, not stress that's out of your control like that.

I had a shocking day!!! 😢
There was a Mothers Day breakfast at the kids school and I had a white roll with egg and bacon and an apricot Danish!
It was DS6 2nd birthday and so we took him out for a babychino and I had a large flat white. We then took him to an indoor playground and there was nothing LE friendly on the menu so it was potato wedges for lunch.
Then we had dinner at my parents and we had Chinese takeout and then cake!!
OMG! What have I done??!? 😞

Don't panic ladies! It's a general pattern you're aiming for not a one off anything. I've just spent an hour making a huge beef tagine for a family lunch tomorrow! I am going to make a roasted veg couscous as well and I'm just going to eat that.
Today, lunch was French bread with egg mayonnaise (low fat), baked crisps and an Orangina.
Snack will be a G&T and cassava crisps.
Dinner will be fajitas as I find that one easy to not miss the meat with. I'll stuff a couple of low fat wraps with veggies and a little homemade guacamole, and some wine!
Totals should end up:
1823 cals, 45g fat, 44g protein

They were yummy. And normally I can do them within limits. A small spoonful of guacamole spread over the tortilla gives it moisture, I add salsa if I have some and then as many veg as will fit (I do good LE vegetables like leeks, mushrooms, courgettes/zucchinis, peppers and an onion and a little garlic). Sooooo good and if I keep the guac under control then it's great LE!
Today we have lots of family over who are going to eat my huge beef tagine while I fill up on vegetables and couscous :)

I can't wait to get my Personalised Plan, I feel really lost & I have no real idea if what I'm eating is ok or not & I am having too many blowouts because I don't have anything concrete to follow. Sigh. Anyway. Today I went to a Mother Blessing (like a hippy baby shower) so there was a lot of food. In one way it was good as the food was mostly vegan/vegetarian. However I did gorge myself. I have no idea of my calories really. For dinner my kids were keen for Pizza Night which is usual for Saturday so I made a really amazing vegan pizza for myself. Here's a photo. Blah. I feel like no matter what I do I'm going to fail, & end up with another boy. Which is fine but I just want my DD so badly. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/10/u8a8u8aj.jpg

Don't fret PrimalMamma. Remember this is all about swaying the odds. That's all really. You can't ruin a sway. You could eat tonnes and DTD loads and do everything on the Blue lists and get a DD. Just try to relax and follow the main principles when you can :)

Me again. As I drank too much gin and wine last night, and what with eating fewer calories than usual, I am very hung over this morning. Enough that I am feeling shaky! So have just had scrambled eggs on homemade spelt bread for breakfast. Yummy and the first brekkie I have had in a while. No guilt here as I think it was necessary for me to function today! :)

2:00pm toasted cheese sandwich
8:30pm Dahl soup & a roti bread.
And a vodka & diet coke.
I'm starving but I ate so much yesterday that I thought I better be really "good" today.
Not looking forward to a Mother's Day afternoon tea at mums tomorrow as there will nothing there LE appropriate. And DS1 wanted to cook a pork cutlet dish for dinner tomorrow night too. 😕

I’m a day late posting this, couldn’t be bothered yesterday! LOL.
7:30am – coffee & milk (in my new mother’s day mug beautifully painted by my 5 year old)
8am – one egg on one slice of dry toast (they were desperate to give me breakfast in bed)
12:30pm – a paw paw from my neighbour’s tree (I live in the tropics) & a bliss ball, plus a Coke Zero.
6:30pm – Vegan “not-fried” rice (just boiled rice with veggies & low sodium soy sauce stirred into it) & some dairy free chocolate mousse which my boys & husband made for mother’s day. Diet tonic water & a couple of wines later.
All in all I tried my best & I’m actually pretty happy with how I went considering it was mother’s day!!
1400 cals approx.
Hope everyone else had a lovely Mother’s Day.

Right so we arrived back home at 530am yesterday. On holiday I skipped breakfast once through choice as I was so full from the night before! So that was one day where I did a 16 hour fast but the rest of the week we ate breakfast around 9ish, lunch at 1ish and dinner at 9ish. Sometimes I had 2 lunches eek (like a salad around 12 and then a pizza around 3)... for breakfasts I focused on carbs, so fruit, breads, waffles, pancakes with heaps of nutella/honey and I would have had about 3 coffees. Lunches was fish, salads, veggies but then I would have a plate of cake afterwards he he. Dinners were massive. I hardly ate meat through choice, the fish was amazing. The meat I did have was more of a taster in something from the buffet or what DH was eating. I had veggie pizza a few times at lunch and that was delish too. So all in all I loved my food on holiday but have had twinges of worry because I didnt do long fasts overnight, I ate heaps of calories and heaps of fat. At least I drank alcohol every day so hopefully that helped :)

10.30am - 2 coffees with whole milk, piece of leftover cake from holiday (my last meal was at 6pm UK time on saturday on holiday which was a plate of cake and 4 glasses of sparkling wine!!!)
2.00pm - salad leaves, beetroot, pot of waitrose chargrilled vegetable soup
4.00pm - was hungry so had 5 poppy & sesame seed crackers with brie
8.00pm - slim pasta, heaps of steamed tendersteam broccoli, some sundried tomato and garlic pesto, bit more brie and some cheddar. 2 massive pieces of birthday cake, half a bottle of sauvingon blanc

Hey ladies. I'm considering stopping logging my food. I'm wondering if it's too much of a Martha thing for me. Putting it all into MyFitnessPal even seems very detail focused. I'm also considering whether or not to use OPKs or just DTD every four days as I'm BF so have not had a cycle yet and am worried I'll obsess over it. I don't want to regret anything though if we get another boy!

Today has been shocking as we have nothing in our house to eat and my veggies were mouldy!! And DH was so late home that I gave up waiting for him to go get something so I only had toast for dinner!!
10am rice milk coffee, toast with cheese.
4pm a few corn chips (Doritos) that the kids were eating and one cocktail frankfurt (I was starving).
7:30pm toast with margarine.
And I'll have a hot choc and a pop tart.
Low on cals, fat & protein but still bloody high in sodium!! 😕

hi weezie - it depends on how it makes you feel i guess. I usually input the weeks dinners into MFP when I am doing my online shopping and it helps me not to overorder. I have the same 'breakfast' during the week so thats already programmed in. So all i have to do then is the lunches fitting in with the totals and again I have pretty much the same/similar things so its all programmed in. Its more of a routine task and it helps me not to feel guilty if I want chocolate or a flapjack on one day and find that its still within totals. Otherwise I might overthink having it, or stress about it.
Regarding this thread, I see this as helping others and stealing ideas also, which is more of a fun thing than a martha thing? My opinion anyway. If you feel the logging brings out your inner martha then definitely stop.
If you havent had a cycle yet then I think the every 4 day method is better than OPKs. You can save your OPK for when your cycles come back. That long cycle I had of 95 days was miserable and I took loads of OPKs then stopped as it was getting too much. Just my opinion. You probably do right to be relaxed in all areas including the logging.

May 12th, 2014, 07:33 AM
Weeziewoozles, you have to do what works for you. You've probably got an idea on how to eat within the LE limits now without having to track it all. Personally I find it helpful to log it and for working out what I'm high or low on to assist with dinner choices and sharing on here I love, but if it's causing extra stress or "marthaness" for you, then it might be easier to stop logging for a while, or maybe just every now and then so you can check that you're pretty much still on track.
I'm considering the 4 day method too now as we missed the egg this month and think it would take some of our stress away, still not sure how that all works with FR/Abstain though?? Does DH release everyday and just one unprotected attempt every 4 days?? I don't know if he could do that. 😕
GL in whatever you decide. You'll have full support on here either way. xx
stephk
May 12th, 2014, 08:22 AM
if you are considering the every 4 days, that is instead of FR/Abstain. You cant do it with abstain for obvious reasons. You could do it with FR but it would be really hard for DH to do so I wouldnt suggest it.

OK I have a few questions, if someone wouldn't mind....I know "everything within plan limits" and that there are a few foods most people avoid...with regards to chocolate? Does this mean ALL chocolate, anything chocolate? Like what about chocolate pop tarts? Or junior mints? Or little debbie cakes? Also, are olives something to limit? THanks ladies!
So far today
BKFST: 1 cup sugar free mocha coffee
LUNCH: Pasta salad with 3 or four small bites of chicken, 1 tbsp shredded cheese, half a baguette, yoplait banana cream yogurt
DINNER: will probably be toast and another yogurt, maybe a pop tart or possibly some rice with butter and parm

Here's my (not very LE friendly!) day -
Breakfast: coffee + creamer
Lunch: Trader Joe's Japanese fried rice frozen entree (has seaweed, a little tofu, edamame, and carrots.. it was delicious and I highly recommend for ladies here in the US!, only 5 grams of fat per serving and 7 grams of protein), Trader Joe's light kettle corn, and big bowl of blackberries
Dinner: Making one pot cheesy pasta with broccoli (a little higher in fat than I would like, but my boys LOVE it and I get so tired of making 2 meals), for dessert a bowl of blueberries with 1/4 cup of yogurt on top

Lol @ the "flat white" conversation! When I went to England I went to an "Australian" themed pub/restaurant & was super excited to find a flat white on the menu! I had no idea they were just an Aussie thing til I left the country. A flat white with an extra shot is my favourite coffee.

Trying to shape up my diet a bit, might motivate if I put it up here :-)
6.30: Coffee with a little skimmed milk
10: 3 rice cakes & coffee w milk
12.30: Veggie "bite" with roasted potatoes and peas, iceberg salad.
17.30: Pita bread with salad and falafel, low fat garlic dressing. A few sweets (swedish fish).
Totals: 1482 cals, 45 g protein, 46 g fat (28%).
Usually try not to eat meat substitutes like quorn or so more than once a day or less since it contains pretty much protein, but now that DH also tries to stay veggie we have it more often. Plain pasta or rice with veggies isn't really enough for him.
And "flat white" – I had no idea, I also thought it was a slice of white bread, haha!
This thread is very helpful, I love the inspiration and to see the variation of foods. A lot of it I don't even know what it is or were it's found, but it's still very interesting!

I'm going to be naughty today and have a little meat on my taco. I've found if I eat tiny portions of meat (and stay within protein guidelines) I feel SO MUCH BETTER. I get tired of having zero energy and feeling nauseated all the time. Meat definitely magically makes me feel better - even just an ounce or two!

What is better – chitosan or a psyllium-based fibre supplement? Chitosan supposedly binds fat & stops it absorbing through the intestines. Metamucil etc are just fibre based. Would it be worth investing in both, to take Metamucil daily & then chitosan if I was going to have a “cheat” meal? Or am I over-thinking?

its best to start a new thread on that as atomic doesnt look at this thread. I wouldnt know what to advise in that department as I am not doing any supps apart from folic acid. Atomic did recommend fibre for me in my custom plan and i think it is the psyllium ones that are recommended but as I have a history of IBS I am too scared to take them! With all the extra salads and veggies i have been eating I dont feel the need for fibre supps anyway.
actually I think you have a custom plan dont you? so just ask atomic in your custom thread and she will come back quite quickly to you.

I hesitate to post this because I swear it looks like I just eat restaurant food and never cook! May is a crazy month for us (2 weddings, 3 long trips, mother's day, 3 family birthdays, my office is moving, etc, etc) so I have been eating restaurant food more than normal.
Lunch: 1/2 a panera tomato and mozzerella panini, small piece of bread with small pat of butter
Dinner: Going to Outback steak house! Having 4 coconut shrimp, piece of bread with small amount of butter, sweet potato with a little cinammon & sugar on it (no butter), glass of wine

Primal - did you hear from Atomic about the fiber? I ordered myself some chitosan, hopefully I can remember to actually take it!
Also, I have a general discussion question for whoever wants to answer. If you end up with an opposite, do you think you'd regret cheating OR do you think you'd regret making yourself miserable at family functions/holidays/weddings/birthdays/etc ? (Obviously if you have a girl I'm assuming you won't regret anything you did!).
My current thinking is to try my best to eat LE principles while on vacation/birthday parties/weddings/etc, but not so much that I feel deprived. I WILL try some wedding cake at the wedding I'm attending, and I will be going to a brunch with my friends on a girls trip I have coming up. I feel like I'll be more mad at myself if I end up with a boy and make myself miserable over the diet. I'm curious if others feel differently (ie always stick to the diet no matter what?) ?

Atomic said while she feels chitosan is more affective she has nothing to back this up it’s just her own thoughts. I’m thinking about using Metamucil for every day stuff & chitosan if I’m having a cheat because it seems to be more effective at binding & blocking fat.
Regarding cheats & if I get an opposite. Well, I don’t think I could do this diet without some cheats. Considering a “cheat” is normal food, like meat, it’s really hard not to have a cheat. It’s not like you’re trying to avoid fast food where there are lots of other options of things to eat, it’s trying to avoid normal, everyday & generally HEALTHY food. For us, we had to decide if we ONLY wanted a girl or if we wanted a baby & would PREFER a girl. We asked ourselves, what if “god” (or whatever you believe in) came out of the sky & said “You can have another baby but it will ONLY be a boy & there is nothing that can be done”, would we go ahead? For us the answer was yes.
So while I’m willing to do what I can to try to sway, I’m not so set on it that I will be crushed if we end up with blue again.

bluebonnet - I didnt even register that you were going to a lot of restaurants but even if you go every day, so what - enjoy it :) I would love not to cook all the time. I am well jel as they say in Essex (meaning I am jealous of you not having to cook)
on your question regarding opposites, I totally agree with PrimalMamma, i want a baby and i would prefer a girl. If I 100% wanted a guaranteed girl, I would save up and go HT. But my personal preference is to leave it with god/luck. I am doing what I can and what I am comfortable with and the rest is up to god. I do not believe that having a few cheats will make or break a sway. More damaging is your attitude to the cheating and analysing every scrap of food you are eating, being miserable and stressed about it. you have to remember that less is less. When you conceived your boys you were probably taking pre-natals, eating lots of nutritious food often with good fats and lots of protein. Now we are lowering blood sugar, eating less in general and less protein and fat. Even with cheats you will still be eating less. I would not have any regrets if I had another boy because I know I have done what I am able to do without it being too miserable an experience. I have also learned lots of cool stuff on the way and met some cool people online so thats a bonus :)
A slice of wedding cake or any other cake is NOT a cheat! Just try to have it after other food but even if on its own its really not a big deal.
brunch - I have been for several since starting the diet and I ate eggs and whatever I wanted. You will be miserable if you dont have what you want and other people are eating what you actually want to eat.
My advice on these events is to do your best but dont make yourself miserable in the process. I ate what I wanted on holiday, yes I did have moments of paranoia and would I ruin things but it was an all inclusive holiday and I wasnt missing out on delicious food that I wanted to eat when I felt like eating it.

Yesterday was youngest sons birthsday so not a great day diet wise. But I tried to stay low during day to even out a bit. Totals of cals are ok but fat was to high.
6.30 Coffee w skimmed milk
10.00 2 rice cakes, 1 slice of plain toast (had nothing to put on...)
12.00 250 ml tomato soup, 1 slice of toast
17.30 1 veggie burger with bread and salad, a little dressing, 1 corn on the cob. 1 (pretty small) piece of his birthday cake and 1 mazarin cake (I have no idea what they are called in english! Is it the same?)
Totals: 1525 cals, 42 g protein, 56 g fat (34%)
For today the plan is:
9.00 1 Ciabatta with butter and jam and 1 slice (15 g) of cheese (I know it's early but it is breakfast with work group), coffee w milk.
12.00 Half corn on the cob, 1 veggie burger with bread and salad. (No dressing, forgot it at home)
17.30 Rice with veggie stir fry (Vietnamese take away, I'll share my with the kids)
It's hard to calculate the take away (at least the stir fry, how much fat, sugar etc is it?) so totals of today might not be so correct.
cals: 1174 (probably more, but I counted w 200 g of rice, 1 port of fried veggies, added some extra oil and thai sauce for dinner, couldn't find any great option in my app) 41 g protein and 47 g fat (37%).

Big fat cheat day today, well cheat evening when we have friends over.
5.20am coffee with whole milk
10.00am - manuka honey in hot water - i was craving a latte or a cake or both and was desperate for something so had this and it helped. Thank god because 20 mins after drinking it we had a fire drill and I am on the 25th floor of a big building in canary wharf!! Guess who made it down all the stairs easily - smug? me?
12.15pm - couldnt wait a minute longer - waitrose chargrilled vegetable soup, a rustic white bread roll (bit like a ciabatta), waitrose essential side salad and beetroot salad. Still hungry. Going to be a long afternoon...
3.45pm (if I can wait that long) - a banana, some blueberries, total greek yoghurt
6.30pm - will crack open the sauvingon blanc when my friends arrive
7.00pm - I have antipasti to start with - artichokes, grilled peppers, anchovies, pitta breads, olives in chilli & garlic, hummous, skewer of chilli&garlic prawns (will just have the one), salami (might only have one or two bits, to be sociable)
8.00pm - I am making pasta with creamy greens, lemon and cod. Not made this before but it sounds good and I am using light philadelphia instead of marscapone so there is the less is still less philosophy right there!!
9.00pm - I have a lemon meringue pie that serves 6 people for 4 of us. Oh yes.
so with that little lot I am guessing 2700 cals, 70g fat and 100g protein eek! Thank goodness for burning 820 in the gym today lol - and then the fire drill
And we have BBQs tomorrow and sunday but I will be eating veggie burgers.

Well today was a pretty unhealthy day. We went to a friends BBQ, as they are vegetarian I thought it would be easy. Well with the arrival of AF this morning I was pretty gutted because it means I have a short LP. Even my aerobics class didn't lift my spirits. I'll get over it but today things were a bit all over the place.
7.00am coffee with whole milk
8.00am coffee with whole milk
12.00pm - 2 slices of hovis seed sensations toasted with heaps of Nutella. Coffee with whole milk. Pretzels crisps with Nutella. 2 chocolates.
3.30pm - was at my friends, had a bit if their pitta bread appetiser and a few Pringles (crisps)
5pm (I think, not sure) - a some salad with olive oil, garlic and balsamic dressing, a sesame seed burger bun, a veggie burger, a vegetarian sausage, a chicken skewer
8.00pm - now home and DS in bed I opened a bottle of rose cava, had 4 Marc de champagne truffles and finished the Nutella with more pretzel crisps!!!!
So I guess 2500 cals, 76g fat (42%) and 64g protein. Well there's not that much nutritional value in what I've eaten I guess....
SamS_TTCPink
May 17th, 2014, 08:24 PM
You're making me so jealous with the Nutella steph! Lol!! 😉
Yesterday I had a pretty shocking day too:
10:30 rice milk flat white
12:30 leftover from my noodle dish (way too high in sodium)
4:00 iced coffee
6:30 vegetarian burger from take away, some hot chips and gravy
10pm hazelnut snickers chocolate bar and hot choc.
1700cals 32g fat 41g protein
But 3500mg sodium!

3pm (at footy) kransky hot dog with coleslaw, bacon & cheese, iced coffee, few handfuls of salt and vinegar chips and m&ms.
Taking DS6 to the dr so by the time I finally get home it will be something bad for dinner too! 😞
Oh well back on track tomorrow! AF arrived today and I do think the extra cals & fat helped it arrive so it's not all bad...right??!? 😕

8am - had the hangover from hell so I HAD to eat breakfast. 2 eggs in a tortilla.
1pm - homemade salad kebab. Can I recommend this idea to anyone who loves donner style kebabs?? I bought Lebanese bread & spread it with a little hummus, filled it with lettuce, tomato, onion, tabbouleh & instead of meat I cooked some mushrooms in a non-stick pan with a little oil spray. Then I added hot chilli sauce & a little blob of Greek yoghurt. It was all kinds of amazing & I didn't miss the meat AT ALL.
6:30pm - roast potato & roast pumpkin with salad

so yesterday was a bit of a disaster in the cals and fat department, but we had friends over for a BBQ and it was one of their birthdays. As they are vegetarian we made it a vegetarian BBQ so at least the fat was coming from cake and cheese.
7.00am - coffee with whole milk
8.00am - coffee with whole milk
12.00pm - omelette with 2 eggs and mushrooms cooked with frylight spray. I had this because atomic has recommended that I try to have 4 eggs a week now. Also I wasnt sure what time we would eat with my friends and I couldnt have fasted for much longer. Having this pure protein meal would have had little to no effect on blood sugar and stopped me eating crisps.
2.00pm - my friends arrived and we had some prosecco to toast the birthday girl. I had a few olives in chilli and garlic. I opened some chardonnay (had the whole bottle over the course of the day).
3.30pm - 2 crusty white bakery rolls, some lurpak butter, a dragonfly mushroom and garlic burger (Ocado: Dragonfly Gluten Free Organic Mushroom & Garlic Burger 200g(Product Information) (http://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Dragonfly-Gluten-Free-Organic-Mushroom--Garlic-Burger/228192011?from=order¶m=3319206035&parentContainer=ORDER%7C3319206035)), a portabello mushroom, a halloumi burger slice, some heinz garlic sauce. Some salad leaves and beetroot.
4.30pm - a cup of rooibos tea (havent had this since I started swaying due to high antioxidants but one cup wont do any harm), 2 slices of coffee and walnut cake and one slice of carrot cake!!!!
8.00pm - another slice of carrot cake and finished off the wine...............
bad bad bad....2800 cals, 105g fat (44%) and 62g protein. Thank god for the gym!

6:30pm - veggie stir fry with basmati rice

On a positive note, my sister is in town and we usually fight 24/7 but we haven't fought AT ALL. She tries to bait me constantly and I'm not even tempted to fight back. I really think the LE diet/exercise has helped with my testosterone and wanting to fight with people. It's great!
Thanks for reading the novel . I love reading your food posts ladies - you guys are all so great on the diet!

In a mixing bowl, using an electric hand mixer, whip cream until stiff peaks form. In a separate mixing bowl, whip cream cheese and sugar until smooth, about 1 minute.

I planned to exercise and started off well but it's gone down hill the past 2 weeks and I've done NONE!! 😞 I was doing 60mins on my spin bike. Don't know whether to start again now with just over a week til our attempt??!?
stephk
May 23rd, 2014, 06:01 AM
Not sure if I am a good comparator for the exercise but I do 60 mins on the cross trainer 5-6 times a week, 60 mins of aerobics once a week, 20 mins weights programme once a week (yes you read that correctly), 30 mins yoga/pilates/stretches 4-5 times a week.
Today i did 20 mins weights followed by 60 mins cross trainer followed by 30 min pilates/yoga/stretches. Tomorrow will be 60 mins aerobics, sunday will be 60 mins cross trainer, monday-thursday will be 60 mins cross trainer followed by 30 min yoga/pilates/stretches, and so on.
This is why I eat well at the upper end of the limits, because 60 mins cross trainer burns about 850 cals.
If you dont feel like you can exercise then dont, there is nothing wrong with the couch potato route and still gets good results for pink.

Stephk it's not just the attempt I'm concerned about. After I had DS2 I was carrying a lot of excess weight. I lost 25kg (or 55lb) & became very serious about my fitness. When we decided to TTC again I was excited about having an active pregnancy for a change. That was January, due to family commitments we planned to start TTC April & the second it got to D-Day my motivation to exercise just disappeared. It was kind of good I didn't get a BPF first go as my friend who just had a DS after 2 DDs told me about Gender Dreaming & I discovered how I was totally favoring another blue baby with my usual eating plan (paleo - hello high cal, high protein!) so that's when I made the switch to LE & decided to skip May. I don't know what it is, I don't know if it's that subconsciously I am relating to my last 2 pregnancies (couch potato) & it's putting me in that headspace, or if I am trying to sabotage my sway (I am prone to self-sabotage) or what. It's frustrating.

I was a complete couch potato (maybe did very light jogging with my dog for less than 30 minutes a couple times a week) when I conceived my DS. I gained a LOT (70 lbs eeeeeeeeek) of weight with my DS pregnancy and as of this week my son is 19 months old and that's how long it took me to lose all that freaking weight. Like you Primal, I wanted an active pregnancy this time.
I do credit finding this website and reading about cardio to try to get a girl to give me the motivation I needed to be active! I always meant to start exercising but never did. I'm thankful I finally had a very good motivation to do it. I do 60 minutes each morning outside of mostly jogging mixed in with speed walking. I go as hard as I can but I don't beat myself up on the days I need more walking mixed in. The mornings are the only time I have for myself and I've come to love the running!
Primal - I don't think it's too late to start. Plus you don't know if you'll even get pg on the first try? Additionally it seems many of the successful sways I've seen lose weight between AF-O so even just 2 weeks of exercise would further help that. That being said couch potato gets great results as well so don't feel guilty if you choose to go that route. You have to do what works for you.

Primal - it sounds like you are already in fantastic shape (a 10 km run, wow!). Maybe couch potato is the ideal route for you since you're already thin. I could stand to lose at LEAST another 5-10 lbs (and I think I'd still ovulate even if I lost another 20 lbs).
Today's diet:
Breakfast (10:00 AM, I couldn't wait any longer) - 6 oz of blueberries, a baked spinach and feta samosa with a little yogurt dip
Lunch (3:00 PM) - wedge of laughing cow cinammon cream cheese spread, 15 honey wheat pretzel sticks, 2 tbsp of tomato basil hummus
Dinner: 1 cup of zucchini & cheese rice, 1 cup of leftover potato and carrot soup topped with 1.5 oz of light jalapeno cheese, 1/2 bottle of wine
Way too much cheese in my diet.. eek.. It's definitely one of my biggest issues on LE. I know I should give it up but it's the only thing keeping it liveable for me. I might try to at least give it up the week of my attempt (and tell myself that it might help!).

Sorry if this has come up already but have you tried the PCOS/fertility version of the diet? It might help, or even adding in more fruit and veg? It does sound like couch potato is the way to go but if you enjoy exercise normally then I understand wanting to include it. If you do exercise though, please up your cals otherwise you might lose ovulation.

Pretty sure lunch was ready around 230 but not sure, i had a couple of glasses of Sauvignon blanc by then. Lunch was 1.5 white crusty rolls from the bakery, 1.5 slices of halloumi, 2 portobello mushrooms, about 3 slices salami, a beef chipolata sausage and some beetroot salad. An hour or so later and more wine we tucked into the birthday cake and I had 2 massive pieces. Once everyone had left and DS in bed we opened a bottle of rose cava, brought out the leftovers (thankfully not much) and I ate another bakery roll a beef chipolata sausage, a slice of salami and half a Camembert with lots of poppy and sesame seed crackers!! If it has been frozen for 24 hours beforehand then it's safe in pregnancy. By law all takeaways and restaurants in the uk have to do it. Not sure about where you live but these were NHS guidelines when I got PG. I was eating sushi probably twice a week when I conceived DS too... Having it much less now! Maybe once or twice a month, or less even.

Weekend wasn't great foodwise, had some tuna on saturday (but shared my portion with both kids, so maybe 50-50 g) and sunday was mothers day here in Sweden so I had some cake. Last night we were out and had dinner at a hamburger place. Took the veggie one, but still went way over limits in fat since I couldn't stay away from the fries. I need to shape up!
So rest of the week I'll try to make meal plans and stick to them, it's when I don't have a good alternative ready that I tend to make the worst choices.
Anyway, todays plan:
6.30 Coffee with milk
10.00 1 slice of white toast with light spread cheese
12.00 250 ml tomato soup, 2 slices of toast w spread cheese
17.30 Rice and a veggie chili stew, a salad with 30 g of low fat feta cheese. A few sweets.

So yesterday was the day of a family BBQ. I hadnt exercised on sunday at the request of DH and went to all you can eat sushi as you all know!! So yesterday I was determined to burn 1000 cals on the cross trainer! DH insisted on coming to the gym at the same time as me (because my mum is here and can sit with DS). I was like, fine but dont even think of interrupting me as I will be listening to glazby (very hard house DJ). To be fair to him he didnt interrupt me that much. He did an hour on the cross trainer and then went to do weights and sit ups, I did 72 mins to burn 1000 cals and then did half hour of pilates. When we left i said lets run home but he wasnt really up for more after!!
So onto the eating... I recall having 3 coffees with whole milk in the morning pre gym, but cant remember the times.
12.00 - omelette with 2 eggs and mushrooms cooked in frylight
2.00pm - opened a bottle of lower alcohol sauvingon blanc, drank this over the course of the afternoon
4/5.00pm (not exactly sure) - 2 white bakery rolls, a mushroom and garlic veggie burger, a portobello mushroom, halloumi, some avocado and salad leaves and some heinz garlic sauce
5.30pm - 2 thorntons toffee cake bars
8.00pm - 2 gin and tonics

OK, yesterday I did fine with food but overdid it in terms of making it healthy. The pasta I made for lunch was SO bland and if I had just added a splash of milk or normal cream cheese would have tasted loads better and been totally fine. So I am going to try to remember that today. I make myself really miserable when I don't eat anything that I find at least halfway yummy. Plus I don't have much to lose so my calories should be higher than yesterday.
Yesterday I had,
9:30 Starbucks coffee- I felt really sick to my stomach so only had a few sips.
12:30- gluten free Pasta with mushrooms and .01 fat cream cheese, .01 fat small yogurt, salad with tbsp ranch. With a nice unhealthy donut for dessert :D
16:30-rice cracker (corn instead of wheat based)
18:30-corn, gnocchi with tomato sauce, 2 pieces of white toast with low sugar jam and a no sugar pudding for dessert.

Mumofsix - I don't track sodium either. That would be too much to track for me.
I try to realx bout that part and think of a friend of mine that has three girls - she has extra salt on everything!
She is actually my role model right now. She is a vegetarian (but eats some fish), has breakfast a little later (like at 9) and is super skinny (which I am NOT). She has LOADS of coffee and loves sweets, and can easily skip a meal just to have candy instead :-) And yes, she loves white wine. So interesting to watch her and when she talks about eventually wanting more kids and "a boy would be lovely" I wonder if I should say something about swaying... I have not mentioned it yet since I don't wanna tell anyone about my own sway, and it would become pretty obvious if I told her all i know.

I also mentioned it vaguely to my younger son's day mother (childcare) because she thought I was becoming anorexic which I most definitely am not and don't want anyone to think.... I just bought 2 new cook books today on sale on baking and big meals and I think I will have to try them out today, especially after thinking about yummy bread!

Welcome Junie - always great to have new ladies posting on this thread
I was a bad girl on the diet over the weekend - it was Memorial day here so weekend lasted 3 days AND I had AF so wanted to eat everything in sight. I'm going to try to be better this week !
Breakfast - coffee + creamer
Lunch - 6 oz of blueberries, a mango coconut chia seed squeeze snack, 1.75 cups of Trader Joe's Japanese fried rice (carrots, edamame, tofu, seaweed)
Dinner - 1.75 cups of TJ's fried rice, 2 mini homemade spinach artichoke crescent bites, 1/2 bottle of wine

AF is coming soon and I can definitely tell. Strong cravings for sweets, grumpy, hungry- a perfect mix for the LE diet! LOL
Yesterday I had a dinner out with friends at a tapas place so I was at the upper end of cals and over for fat but I'm fine with it.
9:00- Coffee w/skim and sweetener
12:00- leftover pasta and weight watchers spaghetti, 2 pieces of white toast with two marshmallows, a few chips, 1 granola bar
20:00- Ensalada Rusa (Spanish Russian potato salad), chorizo in white wine, 0,4 Warsteiner beer

yesterday:
5.20am - coffee with whole milk
12.00pm - 3 white crusty rolls, bit of lurpak on one, some brie on another and left the third one plain. Carton of new covent garden tomato and balsamic soup. Leftover salad and avocado from the BBQ.
3.45pm - some almond breeze chocolate flavour milk, a banana and a punnet of graze sticky chocolate pudding (its a small amount of raisins and chocolate)
8.00pm - some fresh fusilli pasta with provencale vegetable sauce, veggies cooked in garlic and frylight (leeks, babycorn, mushrooms and courgette). A third of a parmesan and garlic rustic wheel. I successfully gave chicken to my mum and DH without eating any myself! My mum made dessert of low fat strawberry yoghurt with some strawberries and low fat creme fraiche.

stephk - forgot to mention, in the US if you eat any kind of sushi while pregnant (even from safe restaurants) people look at you like you are crazy. It was literally my biggest craving so I didn't care. I had a HUGE aversion to cooked meats while pregnant so smoked salmon rolls became a good way for me to get healthy fats in. It's funny because there is a listeria outbreak in the US now from hummus (but none from fish) yet any OB would tell you hummus is completely fine but avoid sushi. So stupid!
I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of LE!
Breakfast - coffee + creamer
Lunch - 1.5 cups of Japanese fried rice (edamame, carrots, tofu, seaweed), 6 oz of blueberries, coconut mango chia squeeze pouch
Dinner - I'm fixing a Mexican feast, very excited! A quesadilla made with 2% mexican cheese, baked tortilla chips, 4 tbsp of low fat guacamole lightened up with greek yogurt, 2 tbsp of light sour cream, 4 tbsp of pineapple salsa, a fresh pomegranate margarita on the rocks (the best part) :)

1:30pm – Giant freddo frog
6pm – Konjac “rice” with a zucchini & mushrooms, garlic, chilli, basil, balsamic vinegar & a little blue cheese (so sort of like a cross between a stir fry & a risotto…. Or maybe an Italian Stir fry??? Oh the weird meals you come up with on LE!!)

so yesterday wasnt a particularly healthy day but at the moment it cant be helped as my mum is visiting.
520am - coffee with whole milk
12.15pm - leftover from the night before: fresh fusilli pasta with provencale vegetable sauce, mushrooms, leeks and babycorn. I added some brie to this and also had a salad with beetroot.
3.45pm - some almond breeze chocolate flavour milk and a graze fruit and seed flapjack
8.00pm - pizza express pollo pesto pizza, I added mushrooms to this. Also had a good serving of heinz garlic sauce instead of chilli oil to reduce fat consumption. My mum made the same dessert again but added crushed biscuits to it!!! I dont think there was more than half or maybe 3/4 a biscuit in there but it had this plus the same things as before - low fat strawberry yoghurt, some strawberries and creme fraiche - I saw that it was half fat creme fraiche and not the lowest fat....
so approx 2000 cals, 65g fat and 60g protein
Today I have a half day so I am meeting my mum in a pub for lunch, then we are going to the theatre and then a curry..............so everything will be way over today............

Primal - I'm so sorry about the jerk at work!
The scale is moving so slowly lately (< 1 lb per week). I'm getting frustrated because I'm jogging 5.5-7 miles per day and weighing and measuring things very carefully. It seems whether I bump my calories up for a few days (on the weekends I eat more like 1800-2200/day) or drop them down to starvation levels nothing is working! I guess I should be happy my cycles are perfectly regular and all that but I guess I wanted to have a daughter AND be skinny when I got pregnant. Is that too much to ask? LOL
Today's plan:
breakfast - coffee + creamer
lunch - 1.75 cups of japanese fried rice (carrots, edamame, tofu, seaweed), 10 honey wheat pretzel sticks, 1 strawberry banana chia seed packet
dinner - 1 cup of butternut squash ravioli, 1 wedge of laughing cow cinnamon cream cheese spread on top, 2 crescent rolls, 1/2 bottle of wine

1.30pm - lunch at all bar one - a halloumi and portobello mushroom burger, fries and mayo, plus a large glass of chardonnay
8.00pm - dinner at a curry restaurant - a garlic naan, fish masala and okra side dish, plus a bottle of chardonnay....
approx 2800 cals, 82g (37%) fat and 65g protein

I have to say that I think the thing I miss most is not thinking about what I eat at all. I have never dieted before this, and when I went to restaurants I used to just order whatever sounded best. I can't imagine people who spend their whole lives on diets it takes so much of the fun out of eating (for me at least). But I'm just trying to remind myself that the goal is a girl and that this isn't a lifetime change. But sometimes it feels like it!
Are you guys doing fiber with meals?

well it seems I had a positive OPK and if its not positive it is pretty darn close!! typical after that feast yesterday and upcoming feasting....
today:
5.20am - black coffee (no milk in the house!!)
10.00 a nescafe cafe menu latte (was sooooo desperate for something with caffeine in it)
1.15pm (not on purpose) - kirstys moroccan vegetables, mash direct beetroot and red cabbage, items from the salad bar at work (aubergine, cauliflower, broccoli and mushroom). Some chocolate flavour almond milk.
6.00pm - may or may not have a cosmo or 2. I am so tired I dont fancy it but DH might talk me round....
8.00pm - I am making chicken fajitas at DH request :( but I will give him most of the chicken and make extra veggies - butternut squash, onion, courgette, babycorn and try to only have veg. I am also going to do my very best to have only 3 fajitas and not 4! Will have cheddar and sour cream too. We will likely share a bottle of wine. If I manage to have 3 fajitas I am totally having a crunchie ice cream.
so without the cosmos and eating 3 fajitas its approx 2100 cals, 60g fat and 60g protein. 2 cosmos would add 197 cals.
Edit- ended up having one Cosmo after our attempt. I was good and had 3 tortillas. Didn't have the crunchie ice cream but I did have 3 crackers with Brie and 2 small chocolates.

Yes they are fine, just check the label. I think the 20g protein is miscalculated however you are right it shouldn't be below 40g.
Junie
May 31st, 2014, 07:07 AM
What do you mean by OK eleena2014? Normally they are high on sodium but I think most people aren't watching that anymore. I'm certainly not. They tend to be low in fat and sometimes protein depending on if they contain meat. How did you track the protein? As depending on what type of cheese and how many chicken nuggets you ate I would guess that you got more than 20g of protein when you include the minimal amounts of protein found in everything else you were eating.
I use myfitnesspal which is free and is really easy to use. You can use it on the PC and as an app on your phone.
I think your day looks great. I think Atomic says she would like to see everyone stay above 1500 cals for the most part depending on how much you have to lose. But some days I am under as well.
Yesterday I had
12:00 pancakes with syrup, coffee
18:00 a small piece of fish, cheese ravioli, garlic baguette, and a few chips
Totals: 1,395 cals 48g fat 46g protein
I should also mention that my totals are probably always a bit higher in terms of cals because I eat a few gummy bears or a marshmallow or 2 every day but am too lazy to track it :)

I think rather than dwell on one day, just try your best to eat enough going forwards. You don't want to lose O. 40g protein is the minimum you should aim for. It does take time to transition into the diet and it will get easier. Why do you think you won't lose weight if you eat 1500 cals? Are you doing exercise?

A slice of bread has about 4-5g protein and it looks like you had 3-4 slices? I am sure you had closer to 30-40g with the bread and chicken nuggets. It will take time and you don't have to lose weight if you don't have weight to lose, the diet is swaying with or without weight loss. I lost all my weight before January and kept stable since, I fluctuate by 1-2kg here and there but it's mainly stable.

Wish I had a Sushi takeaway tonight! Instead I have concocted something that I hope will be nice. I sauted leeks, carrots and swede (rutabaga) in oil spray then added some mixed beans and chopped tomatoes as well as loads of Mexican-ish spices. Stuck it in the oven with thinly sliced potatoes on top and the tiniest bit of grated parmesan. We shall see when I've put the kids to bed how it turns out but it's practically zero fat and shouldn't be too high in protein as even though I used beans, I used lots of swede to make it go further! Two of my boys have temperatures so I'm enjoying a large gin and tonic now! :)

So after careful consideration, discussions with Atomic & with my husband I've decided to go back to my normal paleo diet but eat lower calorie & less meat/protein overall. I found LE was affecting my health negatively in a myriad of ways. I was extremely lethargic, depressed, anxious (protein stimulates serotonin which is what a lot of anti-depressants do) & my IBS symptoms (which are aggravated by grains & legumes) were making every day a misery. I had gone from my usual exercising 6 & sometimes 7 days a week to barely being able to drag my sorry butt off the couch, I was GAINING weight & life was just not pleasant for anyone. On Saturday morning I had a full blown panic attack & decided enough was enough. So I have eaten paleo for 2 days... Today I've been up since 5am & have been on the go all day, including a 5k run. I feel the best I've felt in weeks. I won't be going back to LE & will attempt to sway with lower calories overall & exercise. It is best for me & my family & I'm not so dead set on having a girl that i want my health or my family to suffer.Because of that I won't post here anymore, my diet won't relate to yours & I also don't want to confuse any newcomers. I'll still read & comment but I won't bother posting my menus. Xx

Sounds like a great plan. Your health must come first - and the fact you will have less overall will still sway pink.

primal I think that is a great plan!!! And remember millions of women have girls without ever swaying! They aren't all doing LE obviously and even a few changes can be enough to have a girl :)

I weighed myself this morning and I've put on 1kg in one week.... Oh well what can you do, I've done my best and I know last week wasn't great or healthy but all I could do was my best. Normally I would be thrilled to be 59kg so just need to shut up lol. It's going to be hard motivating myself this week!
The Camembert was delicious by the way and I probably had more crackers than accounted for! :)

Stephk, a kilo is nothing! I can put on 3kgs a week just looking at food! And it doesn't come off again either!! 😞
You'll probably also find at lots of it's water from the food you had yesterday that you haven't been eating regularly and it will drop straight off. 👍

Sometimes My Fitness Pal doesn't have the potassium listed for some items but an easy way to up it is by having coconut water.
You could add something else to either your 11am meal or at 5:30 to up your cals a bit. 😊

Mum - I have a husband who gets very moody if we don't have enough date nights. Luckily we have a fantastic babysitter I trust 100% which makes it easier to not feel guilty about leaving! A greyhound is a grapefruit juice and vodka cocktail. So yummy for brunch!
Stephk - Don't feel guilty for living a normal life for a few days. I'm sure it was still LESS than before and that's all that matters. As mum said, it's just water weight. I usually go up 1-2 lbs on the weekends and then it comes back off by Tuesday.
You guys are all being so good I feel bad about cheating yesterday and posting, but I will post yesterday's cheat day just to keep myself honest. BACK ON THE DIET TODAY! Must be good!
Yesterday:
Breakfast - 2 pancakes at my mom's house with syrup and butter
Lunch - Zucchini Grillini sandwich from Jason's deli, lays baked chips
Afternoon -went to a wedding and had half a greek spinach appetizer thing and a half glass of white wine, avoided the rest of the food there so I guess that's a win?
Dinner - 2 slices of hawaiian bbq pizza from pizza hut, glass of sangria
1948 calories, 75 grams of fat, 52 gram of protein.

bluebonnet - doesnt sound like a bad cheat day at all, you did well! It all sounds lovely. I had never heard of a greyhound cocktail but that sounds great, will have to try it :)
eleena - as mum says, MFP often doesnt contain the potassium info for foods so just dont worry about it and make sure you are eating enough fruit and veg. Coconut water is great for potassium as mum said, and you can also get it from bananas and potatoes.
