My goodness ladies it's been forever! It sounds like we're all stressed and uncomfortable..I know I am. Lol. Stressed that is...I'm actually feel decent except am feeling so much pressure and discomfort at the top of my uterus?! So weird...like it feels like she's balled up on top almost. And I still rarely feel strong movement which is a bummer.

Two, I sleep pretty well but always wake on my back which I never ever do..so strange. Sorry you have to take something to sleep- that would probably stress me out in of itself. Lol. Have you tried reading right before bed to get sleepy?

Also, I just remembered something else :) I used to watch "I didn't know I was pregnant" a lot and I remember one of the OBs on there commenting that if baby is kicking towards your back you may not feel it. Also, as suggested to crd, you might consider getting a doppler to easy your mind. you can get them pretty reasonable on ebay sometimes :) Few things feel quite as good as when she is being still (or so I think) and I get worried and pull out the doppler and hear her swooshing away in there the moment I turn the doppler on :) Immediate relief!

Crd I am tiny too and much tinier this time around then last time I feel and also rarely feel baby..this has been an odd pregnancy for me no doubt. Needless to say I'm looking forward to my ultrasound today with some reassurance.

Everything looks great and it's most definitely a girl. Also, I have an anterior placenta so no wonder I can barely feel her- she's also sitting super low.

Haha..so far my boy is way easier..as long as he isn't teething he's an angel. MY girl on the other hand constantly argues, has major attitude and swings so high and low you never know what to expect...but only at home. She's a perfect angel at school and with grandparents. Lol

Awww!

I am debating whether to take the boys to the next one at high risk specialist's office or wait until the one we'll have in about a month and a half here in town. The one here in town DH will be coming to so I'd have an extra set of hands.

Guys just don't get it. You would think veteran dads like this would know better, but I think a baby just isn't real to them until they're holding it. And they have NO idea how hard it is to shop for stuff like this with a little baby. I keep trying to tell dh that I need to get stuff done now because when baby comes I won't be able to do anything. he just gives me a blank look like I'm nuts. Of course, he's not the one who will have a little person attached to his nipples most of the day either.

LOL..it's so true. I'm honestly having some anxiety because between the two I have now (who are simultaneously going through rough stages), working and selling and buying our own house I feel pretty close to edge of insanity and then I imagine a newborn...and no sleep and I just can't cope. Lol

I can't imagine. Maybe the novelty of a new baby will help?? Do you think there is any chance of that with your little ones?

I wasn't so lucky last time but we can dream lol. When my youngest was born my oldest was 4 and he knew I couldn't chase him or anything else because I was recovering from surgery AND had a baby permanently attached to my TTs for 6 weeks and he took FULL advantage and was a super-turd the whole time unless daddy was home.

Oh boy. Well, last time around my daughter was horrendous while I was pregnant but once the baby was actually here she was so sweet with him. So far, again she's being out of control and down right mean at least half of the time. Little guy is still so little..I think he'll be difficult when baby is here because he just won't get it and he is so into me..I'm a bit worried about his jealousy.

We were REALLY worried about jealousy when my youngest was born too. Your youngest is considerably younger than my oldest was at the time so you might need to come up with some ideas for younger kids but we put a plan in place to make sure my oldest felt included... like it wasn't just about the baby but him too. Here is what WE did (and will be doing again):

Starting right from the start we had a couple presents "from the baby" to my oldest. The idea was that everyone pays soooo much attention to the baby that we wanted him to feel like it was a special day for him too. It was sooooo cute! We got him a Tonka truck and a stuffed animal "from the baby" and he kept the truck and gave my youngest the stuffed animal!! He wanted the baby to have a present too! It was precious!!

We enlisted him as the big helper! He loved the idea of being the bigger, more able brother and he loved the praise he got for helping us. So, if I needed a diaper I would ask him "Would you be Mommy's big helper and get me a diaper for bubby?" and once he did I would say something along the lines of "You are such a big help with bubby! I don't know how I could do it all without you!! Thank you so much!" Then give him a kiss. He didn't always want to help (for example, he absolutely refused to throw a poopy diaper out, lol, wet was ok, but not poopy) and I would just say ok. I didn't want him to feel like he HAD to help, just wanted him to feel like if he wanted to that he could. In all reality I didn't really need the help because I kept everything I needed in reach while I recovered from surgery and, frankly, it took longer to wait for him to help than to do it for myself. BUT the point wasn't that I needed the help. The point was to allow him to feel involved. He LOVED it when I'd let him pick out an outfit for his brother to wear that day too. I think that was his fav big brother thing to do. Since I would put outfits together before I hung them up I didn't have to worry about mismatch either. He just went, grabbed a hanger (with a complete outfit) and he acted like he felt like the biggest thing since sliced bread because HE got to pick out the outfit.

When we were out and ran into ppl we knew we let him introduce the baby to ppl who hadn't met the baby yet.

We took LOTS of pics of him being sweet to his brother, holding him, etc. and told him it was so we could brag to everyone about what a great big brother he was.

For your 16 month old, the big helper thing might work on a smaller scale (like making him the special diaper helper... or some other name he'll get into based on his interests... diaper hero maybe?)

Maybe you could watch his fav cartoon with him while you feed the baby so he still feels like that is his special time?

The key is to make him feel happy about his new role without him feeling robbed of time with you. It can be tricky but you know him pretty well so you could probably come up with a few things. If he is an attention hog, use it to your advantage! Have anyone that comes over tell him what a great big brother he is and really lay it on thick (and your DD is a great big sis too, can't forget about her). If he eats it up when you praise him, provide opportunities for him to get the praise and then really dole it out... like way over the top praise. You can figure this out :) Troll the net to get ideas if you want to! The hardest with a newborn, but probably the best thing you can try to do is try to set aside time each day when Daddy is home, or when baby is sleeping, for each of your kids where it's time with JUST you, one-on-one with them. Time they can look forward to that is just for them and not the baby or anyone else. It truly is the hardest thing you can do when you are sleep deprived and dealing with an unpredictable newborn but I think it goes the farthest in making sure the older ones don't feel like they have been replaced, or that you think the baby is most important (not saying that you'd ever do anything to make them feel that way but kids can be jealous and resentful if they feel like they are not getting the time that they used to before baby came and time is a precious commodity with a newborn).

Lol, well thank you for the kind words but really I am just a worry-wort planner lol. My mind trends toward worst-case scenarios and I just plan accordingly. Not all my plans pan out (like the alone time thing didn't work because DS2 was practically glued to my breasts and if I dared try to do something else... even just pee, He would scream until I got him relatched) but hoping it will this time esp since DS2 is far more attention hungry than DS1 was. You are doing great too! You see the potential for an issue and want to nip it in the bud BEFORE it becomes an actual problem.... that's really the best we can do as parents. We just do the best we can with the info we have.

I told DH I hoped baby A flipped head down soon and stayed that way so I could have the option of a vaginal delivery. He told me he wants me to have a c-section instead. I a section with DD and aside from the five days I spent in the hospital I had no time to take it easy and recover. I was discharged in the late afternoon and the next morning I was completely on my own with two toddlers plus whatever my mom needed help with (her husband had passed away a couple weeks prior plus she was getting ready to have quadruple bypass surgery). I was in so much pain trying to do what needed to be done and I healed very slowly because of lack of rest. I fully expect it to be the same this time as well, except I have four kids 5 and under at home already and won't have more than minimal help, if any. DH thinks I'm overreacting. And then he goes and schedules a 4-day business trip when I'm 33 weeks pregnant, which means I'm pretty much screwed if I go into labor then. Unless I can get MIL to come watch my kids I have no one, and even then I can't count on her to show up quickly if she did come and I had a really short labor, just over 3 hours, with my last pregnancy.

Two, I think my toddler isn't quite used to our new house so he hasn't been sleeping well. Things have just been so crazy with our move, kitchen renovation, painting, organizing, etc. my poor children must feel so out of sorts!! [emoji17]

I'm so grateful others are smaller too, it's so hard when so many people comment, it starts to make you doubt your own feelings and health!

I'm so glad everyone has had healthy ultrasounds!! I can't wait to have mine and see baby again. [emoji5]

He doesn't really realize that c/s are major surgery does he. Our society has really trivialized what is a big deal and is life saving surgery, which should be saved for when lives are at risk. I wouldn't want to look after twins with a c/s. It was hard enough to pick up even one child. Not to mention the restrictions on picking up older kids and driving etc.

Do what feels right to you, cos you are the one who has to live it.

Agreed. Unless he is willing to volunteer to take a few weeks off work to help, then *if* vag is a safe option, your doc is on board and you feel it's best in your gut then you have to at least try. I know DH is prob just worried about you and the babies but it's kinda like labor... men will never fully understand it because even if they do have a surgery that leaves them with a massive incision they won't have to take care of newborn(s) and other older children during recovery.

That being said.. were you knocked out for your 1st c-section? The reason I ask is because I was knocked out for my first one and it really took a toll on me. 8 weeks out I was JUST STARTING to feel like anything close to myself. My 2nd I got the spinal and was able to move around after surgery instead of being unconscious nearly the entire first 24 hours. The second one was 10x easier on me. Having had many other abdominal surgeries I've learned that if you are still your muscle get stiff, making it even more painful to move which makes you want to be even more still and it's just a big circle. With my 2nd, I was active as I could be post-op. I even helped the nurses by lifting my top half with my arms while they changed my pad because I was numb and couldn't do it all myself. After the numbness wore off I was sore but nothing close to what I'd experienced with my first. I could get up and go to the restroom, or up stairs with minimal pain as long as I had my pain killers on board. With my first, even with pain killers, stairs were a non-option and going to the bathroom was terribly painful for weeks. I am a firm believer that this was because I was mobile immediately post-op the 2nd time as opposed to the unconscious blob I was post op with my first. So... if you find that baby doesn't turn, or for whatever reason you end up w/ a c-section if it's not an emergency situation and you can get the spinal you *may* find your recovery to be a bit easier this go-around.

Bunny- I'm a leader of my local ICAN group. We educate women to make the best birthing decisions for themselves without the influence of schedule. ACOG says that twin births are nothing to be wary of. If one twin is head down, the ease of birth should be equal to a singleton birth. I would very much encourage you to research a lot and show your husband just how beneficial and SAFE a twin vaginal birth is. Your recovery will be IMMENSELY easier and caring for twins you will need as much pep in your step as you can get. I'm a huge advocate for vaginal birth as the always first resort (even after a cesarean) and the use of cesareans when medically NECESSARY. If you have a dr who practices evidence based care, they too will know that a twin vaginal delivery isn't something to run from. Good luck in making your decision. Just remember... Your body, your choice... Do not let hit husband scare you into doing something that doesn't feel right for you.

I just had a spinal with my section, and I wasn't numb enough when they started cutting so it was really painful. It was an emergency though, so it's not like we could just sit there and wait to see if it worked better first. My doctor is very pro VBAC (I had one with DS3) and is in favor of vaginal delivery with the twins as long as they meet criteria. So far only some are met. Twin A is larger and his previa has resolved. He's not head down though. Twin B is, but that doesn't matter because she isn't the one whose sac connects to my cervix and wouldn't be born first. We're going to decide closer to when I'm expected to deliver which option is the best choice for safe delivery. If I need a c-section I'm okay with that. I just want choices if that makes sense.

DH doesn't get that it's major surgery. The only surgery he's had is tubes in his ears as a kid and when he had a stent placed after a heart attack. None of those required much recovery or anything else. I don't think he understands what surgery is like since he's never had it.

Sounds to me like your dr is vbac supportive then BG. Perhaps as it gets closer if the decision to vbac is made you can take hubby along so that he is able to here from your OBs why it is safe and he might be more supportive. I often find dads are much more open after they have a chance to ask questions, but at the end of the day, it's your choice. Oh and hey remember breech is possible too. I have several friends who have breech vbac'd so something to discuss with your OB if you are interested.

How long until your u/s? I hope you hear girl but if you hear boy it's okay to grieve the loss of a dream. Feel what you need to feel, don't try to push it down and ignore it. The sooner you deal with the feelings the sooner you'll get to get excited about some of the perks that come with having two of the same gender. Praying for peace in your heart as you go to your ultrasound, knowing that whatever you learn is the way it was meant to be.

20 weeks today :D Over halfway to D-day(since I have to deliver a week early)! And no hiding I am preg at this point lol. Hard to believe... I went from just having my normal jiggly, but slightly firmer to the touch, tummy to looking like I swallowed a watermelon... just in the last few weeks! It's like my body suddenly remembered "Oh wait... she doesn't get a cute little tiny bump! She gets a ginormous one! Better catch up!!" Lol.

Constipated maybe, or position of baby? Baby A has been stomping on my cervix the last fee days and it feels similar to what you're describing, along with pinching in my cervix. I wouldn't have known it was him except for my vaginal ultrasounds to measure my cervix. We saw his little feet kicking away at it and it corresponded to the pain I was getting.

Maybe try wearing a belly support band to take some of the weight off that area? I have an Upsie Belly and it definitely helps.

Goodness yes!! It's not so bad now that I am not working but back when I was it felt like a bowling ball trying to force it's way out! I couldn't believe it was happening so early on as that is usually a late 3rd tri issue for me. I talked to my doc and that and the contractions and he has had my cervix checked a few times and never any change so he doesn't seem to be too worried about it. Try sitting as much as you can, it may help.

Constipated maybe....

Oh... don't say that word :( I am hopelessly deadlocked. I eventually go but not without a whole lot of hurting for days on end first and then I just go enough to get some relief for a day... if that. I've tried everything safe to try, even quit taking my iron pills (no known issues, just recommended by my tummy doc due to increased blood volume+issues absorbing nutrients from what I eat) but I guess this is my new norm until Jules gets here. Only 18 weeks and a couple days until D-day... I think I can make it lol.

I'm planning on getting a mommy makeover after the twins. It will probably be 12-18 months afterward because they want you close to your goal weight first. I dread the recovery though. It's around three months of no lifting after a tummy tuck. It seems completely unrealistic with small children at home. I need a live-in maid and nanny to do everything for me. LOL

Wish I had some workable advice :( My feet and ankles swelled SOOOO bad with my first. They were so swollen that they looked like if I poked them with a needle they would pop like a balloon. Unfortunately, the only way I was ever able to get the swelling to go down at all is to spend the entire day with my feet up. Then the next day they would swell right back up if I went about my daily business. Delivery is the only thing that got them to stop because I couldn't sit with my feet up all day long. I still swear that between the rapid weight gain (about 5 pounds a week), swelling, borderline BP, etc. that I was verging on PE but my doc never showed any concern, even when I would express concern. Of course I now know that that doc should not even be allowed to practice but... that's a whole other story. Bottom line is unless your OB has any ideas I don't think there is anyway around it and it's just something you'll have to put up with until birth unfortunately :( Hugs!

I've always wished I could do like some mommy's do and get their tummy fixed DURING the c/s. For one I'd already be recovering anyway so no big difference plus my little kangaroo pouch always makes my scare hurt while healing because it can't get the air it needs to heal and the sweat (my boys were both born during heat waves) makes it burn something awful.

twointow83

How high on your bellies do the changes go? Esp those of you around 20-22 weeks (I am 21 weeks). The reason I ask is my fundus is only supposed to be just above my belly button but I noticed last night that my belly has even poofed out around my rib cage. I am not a thin woman by any means but I do have a rather large bone frame (not an excuse, doc even says so... If I were like anorexic skinny I'd still only be in MAYBE a size 10. At my thinnest, skin and bones, I wore a size 12 and I WAS 12 then so my bones have grown since then) so when I lay down you could normally see my ribs enough to count them but now, even laying down, the area around my rib cage is poofy as if lined with a thick layer of fat or something. I am still WELL below my starting weight so that can't be the case so it has to be the baby pushing everything up, so I am curious if any others around the same gestation as me are seeing the same changes...

I was told that's not possible to do because everything is too large and stretched and won't fit back properly. It needs time to retract on its own first, plus the excess fluid in the tissue makes lipo difficult. You end up with bad results where you get uneven, lumpy, rippled skin. You're supposed to wait at least 3 months afterward. I was hoping to get the tummy tuck part immediately too and nobody will do it here. I got a postpartum corset to wear instead to help with shrinking right after. If nothing else, it really helps to get rid of the excess fluid.

I've seen a few options and haven't settled on one myself. Some I have seen are like a Velcro corset, others I have seen are more like a long piece of fabric that you use to bind your belly together. I've seen pictures but not really explored it heaps. I just know I want to try it this time.

I used a basic Belly Bandit after DS1 and it worked great for supporting my core and my abdomen/waist was back to normal size in two weeks (after gaining 70 pounds with him). I still had floppy skin, but everything else was good. I was looking at a BelleFit this time except didn't like the attached panty. I got the newer corset style Belly Bandit this time. It's adjustable and has boning to help reshape everything. It was also half the price of the other one.

Great idea! I may try that this time. I admit, I never really shrunk down after my 2nd. My stomach muscles are just pretty much shredded. I have huge separation--one reason I'm all for the tummy tuck!

Two--I'm huge everywhere. Lol! Yup, up near the ribs, too. I seriously look way more pregnant than I am. And I've really only gain about 5lbs from where I started per-pregnancy (thanks to losing some at the beginning with nausea). I'm so big and uncomfortable it's hard to imagine 4 more months of this... and those are the 4 growing months!

My sister just had her baby today. I'm over the moon! The pictures are adorable, and it's killing me that I'll have to wait to me him until we drive up there for vacation next month. I felt a bit bad for her as I know she'd wanted a girl this time around, but she's so in love with the little guy already that she's gushing. :) Super happy for her.

I felt a bit bad for her as I know she'd wanted a girl this time around, but she's so in love with the little guy already that she's gushing. :) Super happy for her.

I know exactly what you mean! I am semi-dreading the end of preg as I can already tell this one is gonna be crammed into my rib cage like my youngest was at the end. My ribs get sore just thinking about it :/ Glad your sis is adjusting well and not weighted down with GD :)

It feels so heavy to me and it's hard as a rock. I feel much bigger than I look, and I'm up 35-ish pounds so far. I think it's mostly concentrated to my belly area since I've gained just over an inch in my hips but lost an inch in my upper arns. Tonight I have major pitting edema after a 9-hour flight from NYC to Prague so I'm pretty miserable. I'm hoping it's mostly gone by the time I get up tomorrow morning.

Sooooo when I went to the midwife the other day, she said I was gaining too much weight. She also said it was probably a lot of water retention given my swelling and yet I'm still supposed to follow a more strict diet and work out more. I joined a gym so I could start swimming and have already started eating better (mostly) but geez, isn't this supposed to be a time where we can give in and make ourselves happy. I definitely gain more weight and swell more with girls - so far up 17 lbs which is 4 over the max I should have gained so far. Where is everyone else at?

I don't know in pounds but I was 83kg when we began, went down to about 78 with the first tri and now I'm sitting at about 81.5. So I'm still down, but since I'm only small height, I am already overweight and I really want to keep my weight gain down to just baby and blood and the other stuff. Lala, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Tbh, my midwives have never in four pregnancies weighed me. I weigh myself and they never ask. I just don't think it is that big a deal and that some practitioners get all hung up over what is a nothing.

Thanks bunches Bella...I think most of their concern revolves around the fact that I had a 10 lb baby last time, no gestational diabetes either just a huge baby. Lol. The more weight I gain and glucose I take in , the bigger the baby. His shoulder got stuck and we would like to prevent that but also I'm naturally very thin, and for me it just feels so unconformable being swollen and huge...how is it that we're only half way through and I'm already starting to feel uncomfortable?! I guess they're right when they say each pregnancy gets harder.

Ugh, that sucks :(

AFM, I am still down from my pre-preg weight. I've gained about 6 pounds from my preg low, still about 10 pounds below my starting though. I tend to gain the most during my 3rd tri though. With my first I gained 60 pounds (70 if u count the weight I lost and regained) almost entirely in the 3rd tri. With my youngest I gained 20 pounds, again mostly in the 3rd tri. I am about 5 weeks and a day from the 3rd tri mark this time so I am expecting my weight to start climbing again soon. I have always found it odd that I gain when I do given everything gets so tight in there that it gets hard to eat but that is how my body works for some reason *shrug* I am only supposed to gain 15 pounds so I am hoping to stay at, below or at least close to my starting weight but I am not holding my breath.

I HATE it when the tell you how much you're "supposed" to gain. I mean, there is not one size fits all. Sure do your best to eat healthy stuff, but I wouldn't even worry about a scale.
I hear you on the big baby, but honestly, how much you gain doesn't *really* directly affect the baby's size. I gained 45 lbs with my first son and ate whatever I wanted. He was just over 6lbs when born—so small he was swimming in his preemie clothes! I lost all the weight and then some in only 9 months afterward—no complications, easiest birth I've had by far. I only gained 17 lbs with my 3rd son, and he weighed in at almost 9 lbs, it was the hardest birth, and he's has had the most health complications. How much you gain really means very little in terms of your health and the baby's, IMHO.

As for me, I'm up 5 lbs from my pre-preg weight today. But I lost almost 7 in the beginning. And I was a bit on the heavy side to begin with, so I don't expect to gain as much someone who stated out thinner...though you never know!

I've gained 15-18 pounds (my dr may say more because I go in there with a full bladder and stomach). I started around 117 and am 26 weeks. With the swelling they are probably worried about preclampsia.

Yeah I gained between 32 and 37 lbs with first two- ironically less with my 10 lb boy but I had so much less swelling and water retention so I'm sure that's why. I went into san francisco today and it was in the 60's instead of 100's and I had zero swelling..ahh it was nice.

No numbness here, but the restless leg at night is killing me. I'm taking a bunch of magnesium, which helps a bit, but it's still giving me trouble at night. Having such a hard time sleeping. (And the three year old kicking me all night isn't helping! ha!)

Lol, guess so ;)

I get RLS from the benadryl I take to get to sleep (without it I would still be wise awake when the sun comes up as I have a pretty bad case of insomnia even when not preg). Fortunately, the benadryl knocks me out so I only have to deal with it for about 15-20 mins. Have u considered trying Benadryl? My OB says it's prefectly safe and the safest way to promote sleep outside of melatonin, which does nothing for me. About 4 hours later, when it wears off, sleep gets patchier but I know I get at least 4 solid hours of sleep each night.

It's not easy, and I generally get more than 4 hours... just not solid/consecutive. For example, last night I slept my usual 4 hours then woke up. Went to the restroom, sat on the side of my bed for awhile then laid back down. I woke up at 7 this am and could not get back to sleep... so total I think I got about 6'ish hours. I am really antsy about getting hooked on something so if not preg (when sleep is in short supply but needed more that usual) or TTC (kinda hard to temp if u don't sleep) I try to just ride it out. I will eventually go to sleep naturally it just screws with my schedule. Insomnia over summer break is really were it messes with me as I can't go/go back to sleep after the kids are at school. I do get a break from the insomnia periodically too. So it's just something I have learned to live with. I used to take PM meds, if I was hurting I would opt for something that knocks me out painkiller wise... stuff like that. There for awhile I used a script years ago, but had a lot more side effects from that and it only kinda worked. I much prefer the benadryl though since learning it knocks me out too. It's not habit forming, I have alergies anyway so bonus, it won't hurt the baby and it completely shuts my brain down (the cause of my insomnia is that my brain just won't shut up) so I am happy to just know that if I take it I WILL go to sleep, and not when my body says so. When I say so.

What a pain in the ass. Sorry:/ Have you looked into relaxation techniques? It wouldn't be an overnight solution but over time you could learn to "move" yourself into sleep with meditation techniques. Exercise does wonders too- I always sleep better when I get a good work out in. I'm sure you've tried it all but those two have helped me when I have had trouble.

Funny that you said Benadryl gives you RL, because I take it every night to sleep, too. :) I wonder if that's what's doing it for me? It does eventually knock me out, but it can take up to an hour for me sometimes. I started taking it last year... my autistic son has severe sleep issues, so I never knew when I was going to be able to sleep (i.e. when he would sleep), and I got in the habit of taking Benadryl to knock me out when I had the chance to catch some sleep. Luckily he's doing better now--not great but better. I can at least count on 4-5 good hours a night...most nights. When those hours will occur is still a bit iffy. He's going to start bunking in a different room with Daddy when new baby comes or else I'd never sleep.

Yeah, have. I tried all the normal tricks. It all backfires. Like reading amps my brain up even more. Only two things have I ever had ANY luck with is a. letting my mind wander through varies things flowing as they wish then trying to remember a random but specific portion of the thought process. If I am tired enough the time I spend desperately trying to recall will quite my brain enough, long enough to fall asleep. It can backfire pretty easy though and end up just encouraging my mind to keep going, if I am not exhausted. B: turning on a show I have seen every episode of a million times (so no risk of getting interested in a gotta watch way) turn it down to where I can BARELY hear it and face away from it. My ears straining to hear dispite my interest in following it can shut my brain up too but it's a catch 22. I don't rest well if it's not dark.

Yeah, I was puzzled at first but looked it up and appearantly it's pretty common. What dose do u take? If I take 1 pill it takes a good while to finally kick in. If I take two I start getting foggy brained and slightly off balance within 30 mins. I can stay up longer if I miscalculated and need to but once the fogginess kicks in I can lay down and be asleep in minutes.

I just take one...plus magnesium. I also take aspirin at night (my midwife suggested for clotting), but I doubt that has much to do with sleep.

I think I might be nesting lol. It always hits me early... prob because once I get bigger it's nearly impossible to do everything I want to do. But typically by now I am setting up stuff for the baby that we haven't even bought yet this time. So all my efforts are on silly stuff like cleaning out closets and such lol. I've been a busy little bee lately working on laundry, sorting baby clothes we do have into sizes, etc. but it just hit me this afternoon that I might be nesting because it's like it has kicked into high gear AND we rearranged our room to accommodate a crib, and other baby furniture, (baby always sleeps in our room for the first couple years) and cleaned and everything and then agreed to leave the rest until tomorrow (cleaning out the closet, uncluttering the guestroom- which has been the overflow location of choice for winter clothing, and other stuff we won't be needing soon, etc.). But the closet was driving me nuts. I felt like I wasn't done and it was seriously bugging me. So, at 8:30 at night I started tackling the closet. I am still bothered by some stuff I wanted to get done today (that I couldn't possibly accomplish tonight) but after working all day and it being after 10 pm, I am too pooped to pop, lol. Thank goodness I take something to help me sleep or I'd probably be up all night obsessing about the other stuff.

Eek, I can't imagine feeling this way and having zero outlets for the energy (not that I have a ton of energy, my desire to get stuff done just outweighs my body's desire to take it easy). 3 garages worth of stuff... wow! I thought *I* had a lot! I've been going through purging the boy's old clothes that won't work for a girl and giving them to the local goodwill-like place (we have a goodwill too but they are much pricier and I prefer the clothes help ppl who CAN'T afford goodwill prices), and thrown out a ton of stuff that wasn't worth giving away... the trash men probably HATE us right now... I swear there were AT LEAST 8 bags of trash @ last pickup. Even with all of that there is STILL a ton of crap in this house and in our garage... but you have us beat lol. Maybe tackling it all while nesting is ideal. Getting up the gumption to do it *without* an overwhelming urge would be quite the undertaking, for me at least.

DH is wanting to tackle our garage as well. I do too but there is so much to do inside that I feel is higher priority. So I made him a deal. We are going to finish the guest room, paint (if humidity allows) the hallway and stairwell (it looks awful as it hasn't been painted in years), THEN we will tackle the garage before tackling the rest of my to-do list... heat permitting as it's been crazy hot here lately and shows no signs of cooling off and I have been sweating today INSIDE in the A/C... I have zero tolerance for heat right now. Poor DH is getting the brunt of it though. He works all week then has to help me do all the stuff I can't do myself. Poor guy isn't getting any breaks and he doesn't have the urge to get things done like I do :/

I want to nest and have a list of things to do. I just can't move well enough to do much of anything anymore. It triggers major spells of BH and then I need to stop and relax. That just started after I got back from my trip though, so it might be related to missing a progesterone shot that was due while I was out of the country. I get one on Monday so we'll see if that helps any. I'm getting really anxious about getting things done in time. I have to embroider and sew name labels onto their sleepers for the NICU, embroider their names onto their blankies (less important), and embroider their names onto their stuffed penguins. I also need to put together my hospital bag, although that's pretty simple since I don't need to take a ton of stuff. I also need to pack the twins' bag. I feel like I'll go into labor and be totally unprepared again, like happened with DS3.

I tend to go through 2 nesting spells... once around this time in preg and again late in preg when, like you, it's too hard/hurts to much to do much. That's why I like to set up the crib and other big projects early (DH thinks I'm nuts!) and save the small stuff for later. Not working that way this time though lol. Hope you enjoyed your vaca :)

I am starting to nest too. Stopped procrastinating on a bunch of stuff that I would normally delay because I just have to get things organized now. My hubby wishes I was like this all the time.

Two girls and one boy, due October 16

On one hand *I* wish I was like this all the time... my house is rarely, if ever, as clean as it is now lol and DH got his wish to get some work done outside today so my yard looks a lot better (I would have bet money on him wanting to tackle the garage because he brings it up ALL the time... but he wanted to clean up the yard/landscaping *shrug*). However, it'd be nice if there were a clock on it... I was up sweeping my bedroom for the 5th time at midnight last night lol. I was waiting for DH to get home and I "needed" to do SOMETHING and my body was too tired to tackle another full project so I just kept re-sweeping my room. So, if it shut itself off after like 8pm that'd be great, lol. ;)

I'm pretty anal and like things organized and clean so that in combination with wanting to nest is making this a brutal time. Lol. I don't quite remember if I nested this early last time- it seems early but it sounds like it must be normal if you all feel the same way.

I just looked it up and it said that nesting can hit after 5 months. It can also hit at 36+ weeks and that it can be a sign of impending labor in that time frame. So, yeah... I guess it's prettt normal. :)

Oh, lala, that sucks! :(

I'm nesting big time too. Mostly by choice, since I'm already uncomfortable moving around and know it's only gonna get worse! Finally started tackling the long list of baby things we need this weekend. I thought I'd go to the baby store and just buy a few little things we need to get started... $200 later I have no idea how blankets and binkies can be so freakin expensive! Seriously?! I'm dreading the big stuff. I *think* I saved a car seat packed away somewhere, but 4 years later what are the chances it hasn't been recalled? And OMG, strollers? Okay, I need a double and we don't have sidewalks here, so we need something with rugged tires... but the cheapest one I looked at this weekend was almost $500. I want a stroller not a car. lol! Man, it's hard spending all this with another kid in college. I keep thinking things like "hmmm...bottle sanitizer or text books...decisions, decisions."

Agreed! There are a few things I won't buy used (like car seats- you don't know if they have been in an accident, shoes, binkies, pump- you can never be 100% that every part gets sanitized unless it's just a hand pump and with all the diseases out there... yeah, no thanks!, etc.) but I have zero qualms buying clothes and such second hand. My best friend got us a $400+ crib from a yard sale as a baby gift and only paid $35! It's got a few scratches and such, and we have to get a few new screws but it's a BEAUTIFUL crib! Anything I can sanitize the crap out of (with the exception of bottles and binkies... I am just more particular about stuff like that) I will buy second hand if I see it... Bought a tub (already had an insert for newborns at home) for $2. It's blue but who cares, lol, it's just a tub :) You have to watch for stains on clothing but you can save a FORTUNE buying used clothes and considering how fast they grow it makes good financial sense to do it! I buy/will buy a few pieces new, but like onsies and sleepers... they add up FAST because you need a lot of onsies and sleepers can be just plain pricey... and I have found some absolutely adorable outfits too in the process. Most of what I buy new, clothes-wise, will be dress-up clothes. I'm on the hunt for a used rocker glider. Those things can be pricey. No luck yet... mostly just rocking chairs but we'll see what comes up :)

I have an aversion to used stuff unless it's from someone I know. There are few exceptions to this.

twointow83
June 14th, 2016, 09:44 AM
Oh and I should probably mention that anything I buy used I immediately come home and throw in the washer, boiling water, bleach, etc. To kill anything that might have tried to come with it (germs, bugs, etc.) But I am the same way with store bought stuff as well so....

I'm a germ-a-phobe lol so anything I buy, used or otherwise get's thrown in hot wash immediately. And I wouldn't buy a used car seat from a total stranger but from someone I trust heck yes! I actually just sold $135 worth of adorable baby boy clothes to some moms that I obviously won't be needing anymore..we have a little network in my area and it's fabulous. Financially it just makes sense..even if we could afford everything brand new I'm not 100% sure I would..waste not want not and such. LOL

Oh, yeah! My rules are completely different from ppl I know and trust as well! I would absolutely accept a car seat from someone I know as long as it's still in good shape and hasn't been in an accident. I'd also accept used *baby* shoes from someone I know (once they get older I am more particular about things like shoes, bathing suits, underwear, etc. given they are used more by older kids and less likely to still be in really good shape), possibly even bottles if they are in good shape. I'm still kind of a prude about pumps though... even if I know the person. That it something I have to have new. I still have my pump from when I had my youngest and will still be getting a new one because who knows what germs have grown and such in the last 6 years! Eewww!

On another note, had an appt with my regular OB today. He didn't do an u/s since I just had one at the high risk specialist's office but he did measure my fundus and listen to baby. My fundal height measured 25 weeks... still ahead of the game so it looks like we are going to be expecting another 8+ pounder. Just praying she isn't bigger than her brothers were.. esp my youngest (9lbs 3oz).... if she ends up bigger than he was we may have issues with growth restriction.... or at the very least an extremely uncomfortable momma!

My baby, sorry you are struggling with gender disappointment. It is very common tho and what you are feeling is valid.

As for second hand stuff, I must be the odd one out because I am not even slightly worried about germs. They say that the germ phobia is contributing to major diseases like leukemia because some people sanitize way too much. That wouldn't be me tho. My kids get dirty and play in the mud. The touch dogs and chooks and if they drop their food they pick it up and eat it even if it has hit the floor. They rarely get sick, but if they do, they get over it quickly. I am probably just a super lazy mum, lol! But it really doesn't bother me at all. I choose to buy stuff new at times because I like pretty things, not because I worry about germs. Maybe because I'm a nurse and I have always had to be near and touch all sorts of stuff that I'm not scared of germs? I think it is better for bodies to learn how to fight disease. I caught everything my first few years in emergency and then I started to not get sick at all. Still, every baby, I like to have a few new things for. As a middle child I appreciate how children notice things like that and I do my best to make sure they all get a mix of new and used. That said, I still wouldn't give a used dummy(binki?) to a child. But pretty much everything else I'm easy.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this disappointment. I wish all of us could have our dream gender. FWIW at 13 weeks everything is still very swollen and not completely formed so it is possible that it's just too soon to tell for sure. That being said, you know you did everything u could and if bean does end up being a boy then it was just meant to be. There are, unfortunately, no guarantees with swaying. I hope that after you let yourself grieve you can come to be happy for your blue blessing. (((Hugs)))

I am less of a germaphobe than a bug-aphobe. Bed bugs are on the rise in my area and the whole idea scares the bejeezus out of me, also there is lice which I don't care to deal with as I have issues with the shampoos meant to kill them and I can't just buzz my head like the boys, so I am careful to kill anything that might have tried to hitch a ride. I am a germaphobe to a degree when it comes to newborns- like instances previously mentioned as well as a rule we have always had not to take the baby out into public places until they have had their first set of vaccines but I am not a major germ freak typically... just more protective of newborns given their immature immune systems. After around 6 weeks they have had their first vaccines as well as 6 weeks of immune boosting benifits from nursing so at that point I loosen the reigns slowly to allow them to begin developing some of their own immunities to common illnesses. They do get some exposure even before then given the others in the household get exposure and sometimes get colds and such and bring them home. I just prefer to guard against the germ factories that are retail and grocery stores.

Ewww I couldn't cope with lice or bugs! And like you I'm protective of newborns. What I let my 2 year old touch is different to what I let my 2 day old touch. It just makes me think of one of my best friends. We are so different but I love her to bits. She got a bottle of an Aristotle cleaner and sprayed her whole aecond hand pram whereas I am more worried about the chemicals in the spray, she is more worried about the bacteria in the fabric.

Lol Bella funny you mention being more worried about the chemicals than the germs...I'm the same way. I like all natural as often as possible. My oldest was just really sick and I've never used bleach and lysol spray much but in order to clean everything the right way I went to town and it grossed me out! But actual sick germs terrify me because I don't have time to be sick but my kids get dirty in the mud and play outside until they're filthy- to me that's different than being "germy"..I just don't like anyone being sick. That being said this was the first time she's ever had any kind of tummy bug and in fact has never been seriously sick (except for a case of hand foot and mouth that went around daycare yuck) so I guess I should count my blessings. But like you I'm down with the used stuff too- none of it bothers me so maybe I'm not as much as a germaphobe as I claim to be lol!

So sorry, my baby! GD is the worst. I swayed girl with my third and had major GD when I found out he was a boy. Had a hard labor as well, so between the two it took me awhile to bond with him. Oh, I'm all about used stuff when we can too. Luckily my sis-in-law has an almost two year old girl, so I'm looking forward to lots of hand me downs from her. Funny, I'm probably more nit picky about things like new clothes and blankets than anything. I guess I see what icky thing my kids put their clothes through and my imagination runs wild with what things could have happened to the hand me downs. lol! Stroller is really the biggie I want new this time, though. I know we'll be using it daily for a few years, so that's the one thing I'll invest in.

Your 3rd labor was really hard? I've been really hoping that since my 2nd labor was so easy that the 3rd one would be just as easy if not easier but I've heard the 3rd time isn't necessarily as fast which is totally bumming me out. Lol

I'm going to lose my mind! I have not gotten more than 4 hours of sleep at night in nearly two months. I have a list of stuff that needs to get done before the twins are here, none of which can get done with my kids running around under foot. Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays my two oldest have school and the two youngest sleep until 11:00. That means those mornings I can get extra rest and/or work on the things I need to. They are also days I can make appointments and do some errands. Well, DS2 is allegedly sick today, according to DH, and he stayed home. So far he's dumped a 3 qt jug of Crystal Light all over the kitchen floor, smeared peanut butter on everything, eaten my last popcicle, and not only woke up the other two kids but got them out of their room. Grrrrrr!!!!!! None of the embroidery that needs to be done can be today. I can't cut out fabric for DD's leotards. I had a couple things planned and scheduled for this afternoon, but DH informed me yesterday that he made an appointment for someone to come spray for ants inside today between 12-4 and I have to be home. I had to cancel my plans again. I am so exhausted, achy, stressed out, and overall fed up with everything. I get no help and keep having to do more and more beyond my usual stuff lately. I worry I'm going to have the twins super early because of it. My doctor keeps telling me I need to be taking it easy, but that's just not possible. Not oniy do I have my own household to deal with, but also my mom needs a lot of help still because of her knee replacement. And then there's DH who calls and keeps asking me to do things for him, find things, etc. I just can't do it and his family keeps making rude comments all the time about how lazy I am if I skip cooking a meal and make easy stuff like chicken nuggets for the kids or if I don't have all the toys picked up every day. Apparently I'm expected to be a robit or something because I'm not allowed to have a break or rest or tend to my own needs for anything. It's always a criticism that I'm being selfish and/or lazy.

I wish! I just can't though. My mom's bunnies need to be cleaned and fed daily, my mom needs her ice machine refilled daily, various other stuff she can't do yet, etc. Then there is a matter of having the other 4 kids watched. DH runs a business that's open 7 days a week and is running all over the place or on the phone dealing with things. My mom can't babysit since she can't drive or handle herself yet. MIL is less than helpful and yells at the kids all day and changes all the house rules on them and they are upset and acting out because of it. It's a disaster all around. LOL!

Even if I managed to leave, there's no way I'd be able to take my sewing machine, embroidery machine, and serger with me, not to mention the supplies and projects. My embroidery machine, even without stand, is huge and weighs like 50 lb. LOL

I think at this point I'd settle for crying in the tub in a totally empty, quiet house for a few hours.

So sorry! {{{Hugs}}} How frustrating that dh isn't lending a hand!

I'm taking the Nancy Reagan approach to anything someone asks me for—just say NO. lol! Fast food for the kids, the house is a wreck, sink full of dishes, my laundry room is full of clothes that no one else seems to know how to put away. But Mommy's on strike! I'm ignoring it all and eating ice cream on the couch. ;) They'll figure out how to function on their own eventually. Probably. And, man, are they gonna start appreciating all I usually do when they have to do it themselves. bwahahaha!

The only thing I'm not able to say no to is work, unfortunately. Someone's gotta pay the bills. And buy all that ice cream.

Your 3rd labor was really hard? I've been really hoping that since my 2nd labor was so easy that the 3rd one would be just as easy if not easier but I've heard the 3rd time isn't necessarily as fast which is totally bumming me out. Lol
Well, my 2nd was the hardest labor. 3rd was probably close though. 2nd lasted for freakin ever--over 24 hours--and was intense the whole time. 3rd was maybe more intense but a bit shorter--like 7 hours. Ironically, my 1st was easy peasy--3 hrs, super mellow. I'd kill for another labor like that one! All three were at home, so this time I'm going to the hospital for the epidural. Not willing to roll the dice on another tough one. I'm just too old. :)

My first was long but easy. My second was long and horrible. My third was okay until my water broke and necessitated an emergency c-section. My fourth was super short but horribly painful. It was a VBAC and my scar hurt so bad, feeling like I was going to split open. I wanted an epidural, but they had to run lab work first to check my clotting factors first. Labor went so fast I was ready to push by the time they came back and it was pointless to get. They gave me one shot of fentanyl to help with pain, but it didn't even last a minute.

Hmm looks like your an outlier as far as birth statistics go. Lol. I can't believe you're going the hospital route after staying home- that's probably also unusual. Though I have to say, I've given birth both times at a birth center attached to a hospital and it was great in that they support all natural births BUT I get help for 48 hours after wards and if I was home it would be very hard to rest. For that reason alone, I'll go to the birth center. LOL

So my daughter had some tummy issues for two days then was completely normal for two days and now she's having some diarrhea again. What gives? Anyone experience such a long gap in sickness only to have it come back? My husband and I were going to leave tomorrow for the weekend for my birthday so that's been postponed- damn kids...lol. Yeah, that made it really difficult for us too. We finally had him tested and knew what was causing issues. Once we took them out of his regular diet occasional exposure doesn't reak havoc but before testing him there were no patterns to be seen. He was reacting to some really unexpected things too. Beef, chocolate, certain nuts but not all, certain fish but not all, etc. Had the hardest time trying to PT him. He could pee in the toilet but had no control over his bowels. He was PT'd within a couple months of making ajustments to his diet.

It's just a possibility but the fact she was sick for 2 days, then fine, then sick again makes me wonder because it sounds a lot like what we dealt with.

Well it is interesting you mention this because I've dealt with a lot of mild food allergies and I was sure she was having some reactions but could not for the life of me pinpoint them. Her doctor whom I adore was adamant we do a food exclusion test rather than test which is just such a royal pain that we never did it. But for a long time, her poop was very soft so regularly, I was sure she had some food allergies going on. Maybe it's something I should look back into.

Yeah, I get a lot of people asking why go hospital this time. But I've had such a terrible time with both of the last two that I'm ready for interventions. For one thing, my water never breaks until the very end, which I know slows down my labors a bit. (I know because as soon as the water does break, everything goes lightning fast! ) I'd love the option of having it broken as soon as it's safe to do so. My kids also have never dropped down...you know how they're supposed to drop a bit in the days before you go into labor? Never happened for me. I have to physically push the whole way. Lazy suckers. lol But because of that, I've never had the "urge to push" either. I have to be told when I'm dilated and can start pushing. Anyway, all around I'm just ready to try a labor with a bit more intervention. I am working with midwives vs an OBGYN, so they'll be as hands off as I want them to be but we still have access to medical interventions/epidurals/etc. Oh yeah, did I mention epidural? ;) #1 reason I want to go hospital. I hear they're wonderful.

Well whatever you choose, I hope things go smoothly and beautifully. I will tell you epidurals are known to slow labors too though if you aren't in pain I guess it matters less. Lol. But I would always wish for my water not breaking! Omg- didn't break the 2nd time until the very end and it cushioned those contractions so nicely...way less pain than when my water broke right away. All I can think of this time is that I hope it doesn't break for as long as possible and my labor isn't any slower than last time. Fingers crossed!

Bella29

I would think they might be quite worried about breaking waters if bubs are high because of the risk of prolapse, but maybe they can do it when bubs are down a bit? I hear you as a Hb mum about wanting an epi sometimes. Like I do kinda want one. It might be nice. My last labour hurt so much. But then again the only labour I had I also had a c/s and I just really don't want that with four children to look after this time. Regardless tho I wish you a good birth that satisfies your needs. Each birth is such a different journey, and I hope this one is smooth for you GD.

Oh GirlieDreamz, I have had exactly what you're hoping for in a hospital with an epidural and it was a disaster. My babies don't drop either and my water doesn't break until the end so last time I let them break it and it was horrific. The pain was so excruciating that I was vomiting and dry-heaving, the contractions were so close together and I'd lost my cushion so I felt so much pain. I got an epidural an hour later (bc that's how long it took for the anesthesiologist to come) and then my and baby's blood pressure bottomed out from the epidural. It was a disaster labor that lasted 36.5 hours after all the interventions. I tell you this just so you know that no intervention is without risk. I've had two epidurals and if I could go back and change my mind about having them I would. [emoji17]

I know that every labor and every momma and her body are different so your experience will be different than mine. I hope you have a wonderful, healthy labor and delivery no matter what you choose!!

24 weeks now :D My belly is growing too fast lol. Everytime I adjust to my extra size I blow up again and have to adjust all over again! My poor belly keeps getting hit by doors, drawers, etc. Lol. Good thing Jules can't be hurt by it or I'd be guilty of child abuse :o hahaha. Starting to have issues finding a comfy position also... guess the 3rd tri discomfort is getting a running start ;) BUT.... Uncomfortable as it may be, I would not have it any other way :D

Good god...after the 2nd baby I feel like names are sooooo hard. Unless you're finally getting the opposite sex. I thought I was dead set on Ophelia and then that changed and since then we've been struggling. I have zero advice. Lol. We like very unique but old fashioned feeling names and that's a challenge.

Bunnygirl---soooo soon. Are you ready?? Freaking out for you!! So exciting.

I still need to get the crib/bassinet up. We are getting a quote next week on a addition so that may change a whole lot of stuff. Maybe we will start a renovation soon (crazy!!) so baby girl can have her own room soon. For now she will be in our room. Not sure if I want to wait or not.

Because of my blood clotting disorder. A lot of risks start popping up the further along you get having to do with the placenta and cord (placental abruption, cord rupture, stillbirth). With a singleton, if I hit 38 weeks I'm to be induced within a couple days of that point at most. I've always gone early on my own in the 35 week range with my last coming at 30.

I feel totally unprepared, but at least I have most of my sewing and embroidery done finally.

Out of curiosity.... anyone else producing colostrum yet? A couple weeks ago my TTs started being really sore/sensitive again (not that they ever weren't sore, they just got a lot worse) and I wasn't sure why until I saw my nips were leaking a tiny bit several days ago. It's nothing major and I don't need to wear nursing pads (thank goodness because it's HOTTTTTTTTT!!!!). It's just one more thing to happen WAY sooner than *my normal* this time. I *think* that may be contributing to why I am freaking out so much about time. Contractions, pelvic pain and pressure, etc. and now colostrum... it's like my body is trying to tell me I am not going to make it to planned D-day. Premature delivery is a major paranoia for me this time and I have never worried about it before :/

That is where I am at... and the "unusual" part is I what worries me. The very earliest I have leaked is the very END of my SEVENTH month. I am 24 weeks, it started about a weeks ago, which puts me at the BEGINNING of my SIXTH month. With my first I leaked the first time around the 30th-31st week (I remember because I remember thinking I still had a week or 2 to go before my 8th month and asking my OB about it). With my youngest I didn't leak until a couple weeks before he was born and only once. So It is nearly 2 months earlier than I have ever had it. I don't want to call my OB over everything or they won't take me seriously if there is a major problem so I am waiting to talk to him at my next appt... but it does add to my paranoia :/

Two I've been leaking just about the whole time BUT I was nursing well into 2 months of pregnancy so my body is probably pretty confused. Lol. I never leaked with my previous two pregnancies so it's weird but I've chalked it up to nursing. My boobs are SO SO sore still...thought it was just me...and huge. I'm usually a B and right now I'm a D and when my milk comes in I'm an E for a short while- it's lunacy. They're huge and they hurt so bad and my milk coming in is never an easy short process- I'm always miserable...am so hoping that because I recently nursed, it will be an easier go around. I always "joke" it's worse than labor and last time it actually was.

I just finished at my appointment, 30w4d today. In the last two weeks my cervix has gone from just over 3 cm to now under 1 cm, but no dilation yet. I was hoping to get steroid shots for their lungs, but the doctor I had to see today instead of my usual said they only give steroids if you are dilated over 2 cm before 32 weeks. Both babies are still breech as well, which means they will most likely stay breech and I'll need a c-section.

I'm finally feeling prepared. I finished my preemie shirts for the NICU and have them in the washer now. The only thing I really need to do now is pack a bag for the hospital. Hopefully I can relax now.

I'm seriously contemplating deactivating my FB for awhile. I posted about DS2 getting soap in his eye and being miserable and how urgent care said there wasn't much to do for him besides wait it out for the irritation to go away since it was already flushed and he didn't have any damage to his eye. Then everyone commenting is all "you should take him to the doctor" and "he might have chemical burns." I'm sorry but WTF do they think "I took him into urgent care" means?!!! He saw a doctor, consulted with ophthalmology, and cleared. I swear everyone is a bunch of idiots and can't read. My preggo hormones have completely destroyed every last shred of patience for stupid people that I had. LOL

I never have heaps of patience with idiots in my mind, but once in pregnant it all just starts to slip out my mouth. My husband thinks it is funny/cute to see me get so "adorably grumpy" as he puts it, but man I just wanna smack people.

I got the twins' NICU bag packed last night and my hospital bag partially packed. I don't have much left to put in it since I don't take much with me, but I still need to put a phone charger, chapstick, and a book in there for sure. Otherwise, I have an outfit to wear home and travel toiletry bag for if I feel like showering. For some reason DH thinks I'll need a bathrobe, but I don't. It takes up too much room. I am planning to pack a light jacket/hoodie in case I get cold though.

So I'll be 30 weeks tomorrow and have gained 14 pounds according to my dr (I think maybe a tad bit more according to my scale). I'm suppose to at least gain 30 pounds total but I haven't gained but 1 pound in the past 7 weeks. The first 4 weeks I'm not sure why-maybe kids got out of school and busier then I saw my dr in 3 weeks and I hadn't gained either but we had a 12 hour stomach bug so I had to regain some weight. Anyway, she's wanting me to eat smaller meals and gain some more weight. I think I'll be fine, hoping I don't go way overboard though. I think the sickness just made me lose too much weight. Baby is measuring fine though.

Dang dpike I'm pretty jealous...I've gained 21 lbs and counting and am 25 weeks. Some weeks I'm gaining 2 lbs per week. I'll probably hit 40 lbs overall weight gain which would be the most of all 3 pregnancies yet. I work out, am active etc but I eat a lot. Lol

That's odd that they r so concerned. Are you fairly thin in general? I am 25 weeks & up 9 pounds from my pregnancy low but still down about 6 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. My doc hasn't really expressed any concern so far.... BUT I am far from thin.

This dr mentions my weight every time I go in, I've never had that happen before. I've found this kind of odd. Usually the comments are, "your gaining weight nice and slow," but I guess after 7 weeks of no weight gain she's kind of surprised.

Yes, I'm usually a size 0 or 2 but muscular. I do triathlons and am a fitness instructor so it would be safe for me to gain more weight but not excessive of course. I think since baby is fine, and I had a reason why I hadn't gained in the past 3 weeks (stomach virus) she was ok with. Not sure why I had only gained 1/2 pound between the 4 weeks before that. I think they have to make sure there I am not doing it on purpose - anorexia, bulimia, drugs, etc. you never know what some people will do.

dpike do you work out a lot while pregnant too? I'm normally very thin to other people's standards but normal on the charts but for whatever reason I gain gain when pregnant- still normal ish 35 lbs or so but it definitely feels faster this time around.

Well, I know they may be concerned that baby is getting enough and may lead to growth restriction as if you are thin there aren't a lot of fat stores for the body to burn if needed like there would be in my case.

Although, my high risk specialist's office may end up crapping bricks when I see them on Wen. I am having to test my blood sugar and keep a journal of what I eat and how much. I eat very little per sitting and lately been eating 2x a day as I follow my hunger and only eat when hungry. For example, I am supposed to test 4x a day (fasting and after breakfast, lunch and dinner) but only been testing 3x (fasting and after my 2 meals). They said they didn't want me to change my eating habits so I see no need to force feed myself a 3rd meal. But in addition to that, as I said, I don't eat much per sitting. .. esp now that everything feels so crowded in there. Like for lunch today (didn't eat breakfast) I had an egg (well done :( I like over easy) with cheese and mayo on an english muffin. I didn't even finish it. I ate about 2/3rds and handed it to DH because I was full. *I* am not concerned because I am not losing weight, she has been plenty active and I have a good amount of fat my body could easily burn for extra if necessary, but I don't think it is as the body would send out a hunger signal if more calories were needed before burning fat stores and I eat according to hunger which has been pretty minimal lately. Doc is still gonna flip, I think, though.

I bet they will too. I'm expected to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. I don't have the time, the stomach room, nor the appetite for that! I'm managing to eat 3 tiny meals most days, but am miserable afterward and lately have been throwing up after eating again. I've started packing on 2-4 lb a week since 28 weeks though, so I'm assuming it has to be from fluid retention as I'm getting super puffy.

After my appointment Monday the doctor I saw seemed to think I'd go into labor in the next 1-2 weeks because of my cervix shortening so quickly. Well, now today I started losing globs of my mucus plug and I can't stop pooping, which always happens before I go into labor. Based on past pregnancies that could be anywhere from 2-7 days from now. With my luck it'll be on Monday because we're having a Fourth of July party for my mom's birthday and then we'd have to cancel it. LOL

If u go to ER would they give you the steriod shot? Or do u think your docs office might reconsider if u tell them?

You only get a steroid shot if you're dilated over a certain amount and/or having regular contractions per guidelines. L&D won't give them unless I meet that criteria. Neither will the stupid lady covering for my doctor. I already called and was told I could get the shot when I meet criteria for it. They are also onky given up to 32 weeks. Some places will give them up until 37 weeks, but evidence shows limited or no benefit after 32 weeks. That means I have a week left to try to get the shot.

Oh, so cute, Bunnygirl!! Hope those adorable faces stay put for you a little longer.

I'm just back from four days visiting my sister and her newborn baby boy. Ohmigosh, I forgot they start out so little! You'd think I would know that, but I was shocked how tiny he was. He started out about 6lbs8oz—two weeks early—but still bigger than my smallest! Wow. I've got to buy some small baby clothes just in case mine is that small. He was so stink cute though. I'm in love. SO hard to leave him.

Ditto here. I have to eat really small meals or I feel sick. I'm usually a big eater—probably why I'm a *tad* overweight to begin with—but not at all this pregnancy. I can do 3 meals and a snack, but they're all pretty little. About half the size of a regular meal. I'm up about 7 lbs from where I started total...but I did lose a bit during the first trimester, and I did start out at my heaviest adult weight.

I know with my first child, I was at my lowest adult weight—not underweight, but certainly on the slimmer side—and I gained almost 40 lbs. So the range of normal can be huge, right?

twointow83

Wow those are huge ranges ladies. I am happy to report that in the last 4 weeks I've only gained about 1.5 lbs! My midwife actually laughed at herself and apologized for being overly concerned last time. I'm still going to try to be decent with my eating and will definitely continue to work out but I don't feel so worried now.

I am thinking my real gaining is yet to come (I always gain most of my weight during the 3rd tri). I am nervous to see how much I will gain by the time it's all over because it's always extremely difficult for me to lose preg weight. My weight gain thus far has had no pattern. One week I'll gain 2 pounds, nothings the next, lose a pound the next, a few ounces the next. I think my hope of staying at or below starting weight is out the window though. I will be 26 weeks tomorrow and will deliver at the end of week 38 so I have just over 12 weeks until she is here. If I only gain a pound a week (which is like dreamland thinking) I'll gain 12 pounds putting me 5 pounds above starting weight... which isn't bad but I highly doubt that will be the case. Guess time will tell.

Yes I'm still working out but not much. I don't know why I didn't gain the 1 st 4 weeks btwn dr apts but I know why I didn't gain the btwn the 3 weeks after that-stomach bug. Pretty sure my appetite is back and will be gaining again.

I too don't have room to eat too much at a meal. Trying to eat smaller meals these days.

Bunnygirl- sounds like those babies are coming soon. Their sonogram pics are adorable! A friend of mine just had her twins at 31 weeks and they are in the hospital for a month but doing good. Baby b wasn't getting good blood flow so they took them out. You won't have those problems thankfully. 40 pounds sounds good for twins-they'll work that right off you too!

You look fab BG. Good luck with everything. Doesn't sound like it will be very far away now.

I've been on a major organizing/nesting bender. I've organized every single item of children's clothing we own from 7-0000 in boys, girls and into gender neutral piles. I just had to get it all done. Feels good too! I also organized my MCN's and my change table since we are still using that. I haven't washed the gender neutral newborn stuff yet, but it is ready for me to do one week when I am ready. I have heaps of time left given I am only 25 weeks, but I feel better for having a big job out of the way, and now I can do the little fun stuff and get myself a pamper pack made for after the birth.
