Hey chicas, I've made it through my busy Halloween weekend. I am 11dpo today and had a little spotting today, but no period. Got a little excited that it may be some implantation spotting. Who knows! Did I miss anything from the tail end of the Oct thread?

Lola, woo hoo. Fingers crossed!

TTC5, too funny :) Sounds like a good plan with DH stopping releasing when you get your first peak

Hobbers, yeah problem with that trick is that I did that with my first pregnancy so everyone knows my tricks now. Gonna have to give it another crack though. Don't lose hope! You may be pregnant with your little boy, you never know!

Hey everyone, how was Halloween? Just getting the kids ready for bed... they are so wound up!! What did everyone dress their kids up as? Mine were a Dalmatian, a shark, and a skunk. The skunk was quite fitting for the baby, the little stinker!

TTC5
October 31st, 2011, 10:40 PM
Well we don't really do Halloween much down here although it is becoming more and more each year! I let my girls dress up and they went around our street only and I was so suprised they came back with a basket full of treats EACH! They were sooo excited!

I guess I didn't realize that Halloween was just an American holiday. I am glad that you are getting to celebrate it a little "down under"!

Today is CD18. I am just unhappy with the timing (read above post) and I am just feeling negative... I mean, why WOULD it work? I am not that lucky, and I don't know why I tempted fate by trying to do this. Nothing ever goes my way, so I am sure this won't either. :( Thats how I feel.

Thankyou. :) I know I was lucky once... I just feel like I won't be that lucky again.
Me too

When is your August baby's birthday, flava? Did you conceive her in November? My son was born in August (conceived in Dec) so August can be a boy month too. :)
My son was born in August

BFN, no big surprise. Was weird with the spot of blood yesterday. Haven't had anymore. I did get my hopes up a little bit, which is what I should NOT ever do.

TTC5, what brand did you buy with 50 hpts? Wondfo?

Hobber, how's it going? We all need to try to keep positive.....and you and LBAM especially, because you will surely get pregnant sooner rather than later and you guys can make boys, so there is no reason to think you can't do it again!

I have removed birthdate from the quote, cause u are going to delete it later and didn't want it showing up in my quote.
My son has the same bday but he was 6 days overdue. I just worked it out and my last AF would have been around the 25th Oct. So would have conceived in Nov.

Hi ladies...just checking in with you all.

Flava-I'm glad to hear you are still ttc. Yay! :)

As for me, I am CD 9...not sure if we are trying this month or not. Depends on my cm. I go to the doc on Nov 10th to get my hormone levels checked and getting my insulin checked. I think I'm going to have to lose some of this weight before I am able to get pregnant. It's not budging though.

Hi ladies. Sorry to be MIA as lots is going on and I just go to bed most nights and hardly turn on the computer at all these days. So I had my U/S today (I'll update this on the graduate threads too).

It's a girl!! :XX:

Found out it's a girl had some crying and shaking of fists then had some retail therapy at the Gymboree and Janie and Jack Outlets for a couple girly outfits. My girlfriend had my other kids which really helped. DH is a wonderful rock about it. I am disappointed and it feels really unfair but there are worse things in life so I'll mourn and move on. I unpacked the drawers from the unused boy clothes of DS2 which was good.

I got a call from my Dr since they found during the u/s I currently have a low lying placenta (placenta previa) which according to my HMO's website this found before 20 weeks in the U/S has a 9 out of 10 chance to correct itself. For DH, this means no intercourse for till my next 28 week U/S (9 weeks from now). That sort of brought crying about a girl into perspective though. Means a lot more work for me to meet DH's needs too.

Well I'm exhausted as it's been a very emotional day. Good night.

Yes you can for sure add me to your tally.
Chances are favorable that this will correct itself but I'll have to wait and see till the 28 week U/S. If not, then they will do the c-section which I sure will be praying it won't be the case. Hopefully I will continue to have no bleeding which will be a good sign.

Hey everyone, yea, AF arrived again. Not to go on about the infertility woes, but I am thinking of starting to investigate some HT stuff now. I just have this weird feeling like I should start considering it and how to pay for it, even if we need to save up for a year or so, use our tax return, borrow from family, and get a line of credit. YAY. With AF coming in full force today, I just feel crappy about it all again and don't know how we'll get over it if we never have a baby. And if we can't afford the IVF, I am thinking of trying a round or two of IUI, and then going with donor sperm. I had a dream last night that I secretly got donor sperm and had an IUI done on my ov day without DH knowing, and got pg and he thought it was his. I am, um, mildly disturbed with my unconscious psyche, to say the least.

ANYWAY, sorry you got AF Light.

Flava, glad to hear you have another try ahead of you!

Jen, SUPER cute costumes and family, love it! Halloween is my favorite holiday!!!

Iluv, good to hear from you again, and congrats on your baby girl!!!! You are so right in keeping perspective on what is important. I will be praying and KFX that your placenta moves on over to a better position. Keep in touch!

Hope everyone else is doing well. XXOO

Lola - I think thats a great plan, start saving money and try to figure it out. Who knows maybe you'll get preg while saving and have a bunch of money for baby stuff  If you go sperm donor will you go anonymous or with someone you know? Don't worry about your dream, I think we've all been terrible people from time to time.

Thanks! I'm not real big on Halloween but the kids love it so I play along lol

LolaInLove
November 2nd, 2011, 02:05 PM
I'd go anonymous, but DH isn't having any of that currently. We decided we would try naturally for another year and then evaluate how we feel about our situation at that point. I joined an infertility site also so I can get more info about this stuff since there aren't really many suffering from IF here. I was told I could try to do IUI with a bunch of my DH's samples and have him go give and freeze one every 3 days and put maybe 10 together and see what comes up post-wash (they wash the sperm I guess) and use that. But most ladies with my DH's count have gone IVF, so I am freaking out a bit thinking that it will end up being our only option unless we do IUI with donor sperm. It kinda boils down to what you can do....pay $25,000 for your own genetic kid or pay $2,000 for a half-genetic kid. And $25,000 is a LOT of money to us, like I said before, life-changing debt to take on.

Lola -im sorry for the bfn...I can understand your DH of course he want a biological child because he do not have any.
But you do have to so it is easier for you to go with a donor. I thought you want another baby so your DH will have a bio baby too.
I hope at least the IUI would work out!! The IVF is just so much money omg!
And don't worry about crazy dreams we all have some. I just had a dream last night I had a baby at home and it was a c/s but here in the living room! And i saw the baby was very cute looked like DD4 and of course it was a girl. That's not enough MIL walked in to she came visit us! omg...
This was already my second girl dream...Im thinking it's a sign I should stop because I get another girl for sure.

Flava, I just sent you a pm. I think her's was green which was the same color I had on mine but I could be wrong.

It's not a common name but more popular now because it's a character in StarCraft online game he plays. Dwight from The Office dressed up as her on the halloween special. At least this name shouldn't cause all the ridiculous family drama. I like Elise for a middle name cuz I think Carrigan needs some femininity. DH isn't sold on that though but he's basically picked the name for every child except DS1 so Im sure I can choose if I really want a particular middle name.

What's WOW?

The only on line game I play is Angry Birds...

WOW - World of Warcraft and it's an extremely popular online game on the computer. I love Angry Birds. I've triple starred all of angry birds and rio but some of the Holiday ones are hard. I can't triple star the 1st 1-1 on the Valentine level. DH works for Nvidia and loves his job! He gets to go to most of the cool trade shows. I got to go to the last night of ComicCon (not the show) but did get to stay in a suite at the Hard Rock Cafe that was cool.

He's played WOW since the Beta so it had been years and he's moved on to something else. He stopped after DS2 died and hasn't really been on much. He goes in cycles and like the World of Tanks.

It's actually me that initiates it ;) I haven't really told him about the timing/abstinence thing. So he just thinks I am keen (which I am anyway!) for it. I like it that way because it keeps the pressure off him, kwim? And it makes it more enjoyable for us both if he thinks its all just for fun.

Good night.

Hello!! I am so glad to see you back. Congratulations on your little girl and I am so sorry you didn't hear boy. xxx

Bec, I found out I have hypothyroidism when my cycle was getting jacked up when TTC with this one. I Didn't know that I wasn't supposed to ttc until my thyroid was in check. It can cause m/c and birth defects so hold off. I just take a little pill every morning at 5 a.m then go back to bed. It's a lifetime thing but not horrible. The longest thing is trying to make sure you have the right dosage. They will have you test it like every 6-8 weeks I think. They wanted me to start and .25 but I decided to go start at .50 so I could go up or down and not mess with it for 6 months of .50 worked perfectly. The other possibility is having your thyroid removed but that's not that common I think.

LOL! on the names Hobber! You guys can use Carrigan if you want to. I think looking at girl names you like can ease the blow a bit.

Thanks, Flava. I'm REALLY hoping we get a lucky miracle natural pregnancy, you have no idea how much I hope this happens. Thinking about financing IVF just makes me freak out. Infertility is really a huge giant nightmare. I hope everyone here, despite wanting a boy so badly, realizes that being able to have a baby at all is such an incredible blessing. On the other infertility site I'm on now, you can't even mention a pregnancy, m/c, or child without a bold disclaimer ahead of your comment. It is really heartbreaking. And I am actually one of the luckier ones. There are so many women there who have DH's with ZERO sperm, and they have to do these super complicated IVFs where they surgically extract one from the testes, and lots of them just use donor sperm. They have been ttc for 5 years, stuff like that. There are a lot of DHs on there also. Anyway, just a shot of perspective for us all. (:

But we are just going with the flow right now. I'm trying to gather research about IVF, etc, and just starting the process rolling with gaining info. We haven't even had RE appts yet or anything, but I feel like it's best to keep the faith and keep trying and also start thinking about alternative options. I just don't know how we'll pay for it, but I have to keep the faith about that one also. God willing, we'll find a way.

Flava, don't YOU give up, though. Dreams mean nothing....there is no reason to think you can't conceive a boy at all!!!!

This is an excellent way to approach timing! My sister (who is just ttc, not swaying) has been at it for 3 months now and is getting frustrated with her DH's response to the "it's time" initiations, so she just starts her sexy act for him when she feels it's time to dtd.

Hi Ladies! Hope you're all doing well :HH:

I've been away for a few days, My keyboard stopped working so I got a new one today.
Yesterday was my Due date and I feel so sad .... still not pregnant and last week I saw my OB/GYN. She tested my thyroid levels so they called me saying I need to follow up with Dr. They won't give me results over the phone. I'm scared ..because they told me that they won't call me unless if there is something. :nails:

Oh no, I hope it's nothing! Did you take Clomid again this cycle? Hope all is ok!!!!!

Bec and TTC5, don't worry about the ovulating too much, it will come, and just dtd when you get it! Even if your DH has a 3-4 day abstinence, you will be sitting pretty with sperm count. Just so you guys know, now that I'm in crappy sperm count land, I've found out that they advise for best counts for a 3-5 day abstinence, at least for best samples and for IVF. So, if you are keen on wanting to have a big sperm count, you COULD just stop releasing now and just wait till you get the +opk. Just an idea.

MFC, when are you going to the doc?

Flava

Lola- they also said on IG 3-6 day abstinence 4 would be the best. So I was thinking actually to do 4 days but we want to DTD twice so Im not sure how to do this??

What is that anyone else does?? I was thinking 4 day wait for DH and the DTD and again 1 or 2 days later on O day...but it's so hard to know when is O! And I don't even O on the same day every cycle ...also not sure what is better DTD 24hrs after the first or 48? Do the first BD 2 days before O or 1?
Or maybe just do it once?
I have no clue how I gonna do this again...

Flava, I guess it's up to you. I mean, for US with the crappy sperm count, I am going to try the old school IG timing this next month (where you wait 3-4 days before O and do it about 12-18 hours after 1st opk) and probably just do it once then and maybe again in 24 hours. If I were you, Flava, I would maybe do the same thing? I'm going to switch my approach up each month, but my goal is to get ANY sperm in there and maximize numbers. I've actually read that for ogliospermia (yea, we have a name for it), which is super low count, you want to dtd twice a day and just get any extra guys up there!

At first I wanted O-2 and O but O-2 did not worked out last month so Im thinking O-1 would be better.
I guess we all have this problems now.

I had a problem like this with our attempt. I had DH abstain for 4 days, but on the day that I should have seen the +opk, I saw nothing, so I had to make a decision to either have DH release, or to go ahead and DTD. We DTD, and I got a +opk 2 days later, and we DTD again that day as well as the day after. If I had to do it over, I think I would have done it differently. But unless you O the same day every cycle, it is impossible to plan!! If I had it to do over, I think I would have DTD the day of the +opk as well as the next day.

Lola, I think the way you are approaching things is great. I can't imagine how hard it must be to deal with infertility. I remember when I was ttc my first and my doctor told me I wold most likely need to go down the IVF path, I was devastated to say the least. Thankfully things weren't that bad but I know how I felt which isn't anything compared to what some people go through. Anyway I really hope things work out xx. Lola, have to share this with you!!! A friend of ours and her man have been having unprotected sex for 18 months now. They knew he was deemed infertile as he was a prem baby and it damaged his sperm. They have been saving for ivf and guess what they have just found out they are 12 weeks pregnant!!!!!

K, thanks for sharing that! I NEED to hear stories like this because this is what I really REALLY hope happens to us. Since I write grants for my job, I looked up grants for infertility, and found 3 foundations, but they give preference to couples with no children. So, yesterday, I got really excited then really bummed, and my DH was a big sweetpea and reminded me that we've made babies before and that we will also have a rich and wonderful life if we never have any because we have the girls. But I do hang very desperately onto the hope that we will conceive naturally and not have to worry about IVF.

Hey Bumblebee, you may have gotten responses already as I haven't read on yet, but I will throw my 2 cents in there and say that as far as timing goes, it's really up to you. Timing has been proven to NOT be a factor is swaying, and boys have been made in every timing pattern there is, so it just depends on what you think you and your DH can do, and what raises his sperm count the most. If you get a predictable pattern with your opks fading in and you are pretty confident that you know when you O after you get a +, then I *personally* think the best timing for high sperm count is every other day, so shoot for O-2 and then again on O day. (My doctor told me to dtd every other day, and that is the "prescribed" timing for best sperm count for guys with no sperm issues.) But you may choose to dtd every day, or do it right after you get a +opk and then again in 24 hours. Sorry if THIS is confusing, but point is you can really do what you like. Most women ovulate about 24 hours after their 1st +opk, so most try to at least dtd right around O time or right before it, so you should try to get at least one bd in (your "main one") about 12-18 hours after your 1st +opk. HTH!

Lola- I'm ashamed to say after 5 ohw I had taken my fertility for granted until my m/c last year. I always knew i was very lucky but, and I know it's nothing compared to so many others, trying for 6 months definitely changed my perspective.

Flava- ita with Lola don't give up hope that you'll have a boy! I honestly never thought going into my u/s I would come out having heard blue. So what did Ruby say?!

Bec - I opk'd once a day around noon until it was much darker then I would take another one around 6. I never missed an egg this way and usually only used 2 extra tests each month. Are you temping too? I temped just long enough to figure out how long after the positive opk I o'd.

Ttc5- woohoo fx that egg drops tomorrow and you get your bfp!! I had a o-2 and o so I think you've got a great shot at blue! And yes I get my +opk in the late evening 6ish, I dtd the night of the + and my u/s dates line up perfectly with the day after that!

Well I had my 26wk appt yesterday, for the first time since the u/s I got to hear the heartbeat. Even though I feel tons of movement I still love that sound. The sent me to the lab for my gestational diabetes test with I'm actually a I nervous about. I don't really know anything about diabetes but my constant candy snacking for the last few days can't be good lol fx I don't fail and have to go back for the 3hr test. Anyway all looks good :)

There is a tiger land at Dreamworld, is that what you mean? We went to Dreamworld a few years ago but are doing the other theme parks this time- Seaworld, Wet N Wild and Movieworld again. We are just like little kids :)

Thanks, Bec, you rock! I am so glad you just needed Clomid maybe, yeah? It is devastating, especially when you are not rolling in cash and think, JEEZ, can't I just get preggo the free way?????? Why us? Eh, I guess that's life, right?

Well, I saw this show on the National Geographic channel about some awesome tiger haven in Gold Coast where these people hand-raised a gaggle of tigers and it looked so cool. My DD2 is absolutely obsessed with animals (giraffes in particular) and was all about it. I love theme parks, too! SeaWorld is so much fun!

I am *trying* for 3-4 days abstinence. DH released last night and I am hoping to O within the next 3 days. As soon as I get a positive OPK will we BD and then most likely BD again 24ish hours later. It's hard to plan it if you don't the the exact day you will O.

For sure! But that sounds like a good plan, Bec.

So today I have had a little ewcm. Still negative OPK's though. Normally I only get ewcm the day of my first positive OPK so hopefully I will get more tomorrow and will get a positive too. Just want to attempt, come on!

Oh, sweet! I would be so excited about that! Sounds like you are in for a good ewcm month!

I have to buy some more opks. I only have 3 left. I bought some more from ebay last week but they still haven't arrived, grr. So I'm only using one a day now. How often is everyone else checking?

Ok, just read on about your ewcm stopping today. Hey, it's probably still there, just maybe not as abundant? You may see it again if you poop, that always tells me what is really happening down below, lol.

I use cheapie Wondfo opks, I but a pack of 40 plus 10 hpts for $10 on Amazon.

I have total faith you guys will conceive again!

Plus DH released 24 hours prior and I really wanted a 3-4 day abstainance but looks like it will only be 48 hrs.. is this enough?!!

HTH!

Lola, so do you think we are ok to go tonight then with only a 48 hr abstainance?

I would totally dtd tonight. I love the little note, that is so sweet!!!!! And I believe in little coincidences like that. My old pal W who was 40 when she had her only child, is a practicing Wiccan. It's really a peaceful and nature-loving religion, people give it a bad rap with the witch crap. O-2 is 2 days before ovulation. Generally when we talk about O-2 we mean insemination. If you were to attempt on O-2 and O you would abstain for 3-5 days before O-2. Hope that makes sense? If you were to only attempt once on O then you would abstain for 3-5 days before this.

FX it shows soon Bec!

Ok so I am confused and worried :(

Yesterday morning CBFM was LOW. OPK was negative although over the course of the day I started fading in.

I tested at each wee so was testing quite a bit! As the evening drew closer I had a funny feeling it would be + that night. 10pm I got a positive or very very close to! I had watery CM and good O pains during the arvo and evening.

DH had released just 24 hrs prior so I did not want to attempt last night PLUS my monitor said LOW that morning! Small temp drop that morning too (see my chart in my sig)

This morning, temp dropped a tiny bit more and I got a + opk and my monitor went right to PEAK!!! I completely missed the HIGH. VERY wet, slippery and when I check inside my finger is covered in EWCM. Some mild O pains not as much as yesterday but still enough to let me know they are there. I continued testing with OPK's and they were +'s. This evening, 8pm the OPK is starting to fade out. I know you are not meant to check the test sticks of the monitor but I just wanted to compare the lines with all the previous ones and this morning the test line was heaps dark. Last night it was dark enough to see but not quite as dark as the control. Now this evening it has gone back like last night.

I am a bit confused and worried about the fact I skipped the high completely, I surged REALLY fast and my fade out is happening really quickly too? I was planning to attempt tonight at around 10pm when kids are all in bed and has been 48 hrs since last release for DH BUT do you think I am entering girl zone if my OPK is fading out already or am I in safe zone already??

HELP! :(

I'm not sure about the girl zone hun but I think if your PH is good ( have you tested your EWCM) and DH has been releasing enough it should be ok to try JMO you have to do what you feel is right xx good luck.

Ok found this on pee on a stick.com

With the wick (pee end) on the left, the LH line is on the left, and estrogen on the right. Interestingly, the estrogen line gets lighter when estrogen increases; the LH line gets darker when LH increases.

So this explains why my test is so dark on the left and lighter on the right! I feel more at ease now :)

I THINK I am safe, but you know when it comes time we start to panic LOL!
