Intersted to hear your opinions as to which way you think we may have swayed towards last night?
My intent was to try to sway for a girl. I found this website a few days ago. However, ovulation was nearing so I was going to have DH FR but then Atomic saw my original post and said it was not good b/c we are in the older generation (39) and he also has health issues but those health issues did not affect me getting pregnant last time. I got pregnant first shot last time once they corrected my issue with high prolactin levels.
So here's what took place. I was planning on getting a positive LH Surge on Day 14 (which would be tomorrow..My cycle is normally 29 days but last month it was 31 and I truly believe it's b/c I took a medication while I had AF and got very sick that night and lost a couple of pounds...so last month's cycle was a bit longer for me...this cycle my period was REALLY light. Anyway, so I was expecting to be my usual 29 days or longer like last month. So I started having DH FR once per 24 hours last Wednesday (which was my cd 8). He continued doing this for 3 nights and then didn't feel well on Saturday night b/c he was getting over a cold and felt like it was coming back. So Saturday night was skipped with FR and nothing took place. As for myself, I noticed so much EGCM that I decided to take the OPK sooner. And to my surprise, it said I was having an LH surge on cd 11 which is so much earlier than I was expecting to see. So this night, nothing took place b/c DH didn't feel well. I just assumed we weren't going to do anything for the rest of this month b/c with him not feeling good and my O starting so early. Anyway, last night, he was feeling better. So it was about 48 hours since his last FR and he decided he felt ok to get things done. LOL...I'm not sure if what we did after all of this sways boy or girl more. I'm thinking boy. So before we DTD, I helped him FR and then within about a half hour or 45 min later, we DTD unprotected.
So to break it down:
DH FR 3 nights in a row (each time about 24 hours apart), the 4th night skipped b/c he didn't feel well, the 5th night (which is 48 hours after his last FR), FR and then DTD unprotected.
I'm curious to hear which way everyone thinks we swayed with this.
Now, as for my positive OPK on Saturday, (remember, I USUALLY ovulate on CD 14 or 15) I think I would have gotten a positive LH surge on Friday as well if I took it b/c I had so much EGCM on Friday and Saturday. On late Saturday night, I had such bad cramps in my left ovary so I took an Advil (I don't usually feel cramping)..then went to bed and woke with no CM in the morning..pretty dry. I took another OPK test just to see if I was still surging and I wasn't. I'm not sure if I was actually still Ovulating when DTD last night. Anyone know if on the actual ovulation day you have CM? It's so strange how all of that fertile mucus just disappeared that morning.
Anyway, just curious to hear everyone's opinions.
If it's a boy sway, at least I don't feel like I wasted a month as much as I want a girl. The reason I say this is b/c I will be 40 when my next child arrives.

I would be interested to hear what your diet and exercise is like. Having read so many sway attempts with people doing different FR or abstain, cutoff or BD through ov, I am not entirely convinced that this sways very much by itself. This is why there are so many failed shettles babies!

My eating habits aren't great. I eat a lot of junk. 4 days a week I am home with my toddler so those days are the days I skip meals most. Mostly breakfast or lunch. A day for me at home is either a mini bagel for breakfast with light butter (if i eat breakfast at all), lunch, most times I will eat a low calorie/sodium bread with peanut butter and jam. Some days I will eat lucky charms with either milk or no milk. I'm not a big dairy fan. I don't eat yogurt and don't drink milk.
For dinner, 1 night a week we have baked chicken cutlet with salt free breadcrumbs, 1 night pork chops with shake n bake, and Kraft mac & cheese as a side, another night pasta with bolognese sauce, one night of the week we have pizza. Understand, I only eat really small portions of these items. Sometimes I barely eat an entire chicken cutlet and don't eat too much of the mac & cheese.
On days I work which are 3 days a week, I definitely eat a baguette roll with 2 eggs, swiss cheese and a small amt of red and yellow peppers and I get a small decaf coffee with coffeemate creamer (not real milk or sugar).
for lunch one day a week I split a half of chicken salad with grapes and mayo on a roll with a friend, another day a week for lunch I'll have either a slice of pizza with mesculine salad and goat cheese or a grandma slice and on the third day I eat whatever my company is ordering..could be eggplant parm or just a slice of pizza or tuna.
for snacks, I eat cookies and love dark chocolate. There's not a day that goes bye that I don't have a cookie or two. I mostly eat Rice Krispy Treats thought for a snack..I like them b/c they are low in fat.
I drink mostly water but if I drink 16 oz a day, it's a lot.
I'm mostly a portion controlled person b/c I was on Weight Watchers years ago and I learned from them to use small portions when eating and also not to deprive self if want a sweet. However, I know this diet is probably leaning more towards boy. The only thing I see myself leaning girl with is that I'm able to skip a meal.
As for exercise, I don't really exercise much..don't have the time watching a toddler and working. I'm of average size..maybe need to lose like 5 pounds if that. I've never been a person who has been fat aside from a medication causing it or being pregnant but I dropped that weight really fast. Always fluctuate with weight like 2 pounds or so. Am a pound away from losign my pregnancy weight but it's already been 2 years so I'm basically thinking I'm stuck with that pound or 2.
Oh, I was taking a prenatal vitamin with 4000 units of vitamin d b/c I had a sever deficiency but stopped all of that a day or 2 ago after I saw it sways boy. My vitamin D deficiency was fixed in January but was told to take everything anyway. Im taking 1 mg of folic acid too. Had started taking a calcium pill and low dose magnesium pill b/c thought it was meant to sway girl but then was told they proved otherwise. So i took those only for a day but the prenatal i've been taking for like 2 or 3 weeks and the vitamin d was taking since last november. I'm sure everything is already built up.
Also, want to add, I jumped and dumped after 5 minutes.
Thanks for responding.

I guess the answer is...who knows?! Sorry, but I guess there are elements of both boy and girl diets in your lifestyle. You seem to eat a lot of protein, but skip meals. This may be one of those situations where you have to wait it out!
I am going to say that you swayed girl because you skipped meals and don't eat big portions...and also because that is what you want and I am crossing my fingers that is what you hear!!
Good luck x

Aww, thanks! I also was thinking...bc i didnt think this cycle was going to be so short..i had unprotected sex last monday night too. Do you know if sperm can live so long until when i surged on early saturday? Just wondering if that could up my chances for pregnancy this month. Im so confused bc not to be gross but my cm was so much on friday and saturday. Im assuming that lets say the sperm lived from last monday into friday when i was beginning my surge....would i still have had so much ewcm if the sperm attached to the egg? I know im probably overthinking everything. Im just anxious. Thanks for all of ur replies.

I think in ideal conditions that sperm can survive for five days? I have that number in my head but not 100% sure. I guess it is possible, but I imagine monday-saturday would be quite a long shot for the cut off.

Well like I said before, my crystal ball is in the shop this week and I'm not a fan of guessing because most people have factors pointing every-which-way and guessing only creates false hope/false despair.
There are a few things that I want to address though.
First to clarify, having DH release 3 days in a row is not FR. I'm not mentioning this to be nitpicky about your sway because I don't even think frequency sways by much and I'm fine with people leaving it out all together. The only reason I mention it is because I see lots of people say "well we did FR and got a boy" only to find out that they did some other frequency pattern and so I like to take any available opportunity to chime in and say that the definition of FR is 7-10 releases before the earliest attempt that could possibly get you pregnant. If it isn't that, it isn't FR.
Secondly, it's best not to take ibuprofin around ovulation. It can keep the egg from coming out of your ovary.
Re OPK and ovulation, those are events that occur and not that you're "ovulating" for a certain number of hours. You get a positive OPK when the hormone gets "loud" enough for your body to hear, then the egg will pop out 8-48 hours after that and then lives about 12 hours after it emerges. But if there are sperm around the egg will get fertilized and then the window of opportunity shuts. It can be normal for EWCM to be gone the day of ovulation, because your body is designed to get pg from sperm that were already in there before ovulation. DTD day of ovulation is actually lower odds of conception than DTD 12-24 hours beforehand.
Sperm can't make it from Monday to Saturday. The amount of EWCM you have and when you have it has nothing to do with the egg tho. Your body does not "know" if an egg has been fertilized until it implants in your uterus, it just assumes every month that you are pg until proven otherwise.!!! Thanks Atomic. I had no idea that Ibuprofen can cause the egg to not release. If I had taken Acetaminophen, would that have been ok? Does that affect the egg as well? Gotchya on the FR and about timing DTD before ovulation. Appreciate all the info.
2011 - Matthew (who is the light of my life)
in 2013 for delivery some time in 2014
Came to this website in September 2013 hoping to sway for a girl as we have none on either side of our families (6 boys total). Diagnosed in January 2014 elevated FSH level and extremely low AFC count.Praying and hoping God blesses me with one more healthy child whether it be another boy or a girl.
Praying my RE can help me to achieve my dream of giving my son a sibling some time soon.
