mid cycle bleeding
hey
so im currently experiencing mid cycle bleeding for the first time in my life and im not sure why..
im on cycle day 17 and have been having light bleeding on and off since cycle day 14. when i say bleeding its nothing like a period, its watery and is going between pink/slightly red and brown in colour with no clots or anything in it, its stopping and starting and is light, i cramped a tiny bit at the start with some lower back ache but nothing now. (sorry if this is tmi)
so far ive not had a positive opk this cycle, last month i got my positive on day 20 then AF arrived 10 days later, before my last pregnancy i was getting positive opk's on day 17 so i think i always ovulate on the later side..
im not stressed over it, im just not sure what it is? do i count this as a weird light period? im assuming it cant be ovulation spotting because ive not had a positive opk yet and day 14 would be early for me..
ive never had ovulation spotting or implantation bleeding or any other type of mid cycle bleeding, the only times ive ever had bleeding is AF and right after having a baby so im abit confused by this though i know that not having them before doesnt mean i wont ever get those things.
has anyone else had this? what did it turn out to be? im guessing its a weird period 2 weeks early but just interested to see if anyone can add anything xx

I've had it a couple times in my life where I had that happen. Wasn't swaying, just irregular cycle. Both times it cleared up by the next month. I would not consider it a period just yet you very well may still gear up and ovulate!! Keep testing wiht OPK.
If it goes on more than a month we'll see a doc to rule out anything like a polyp that can cause bleeding (very unlikely!)!!! Questions?? Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

I had this when I started ttc my 3rd. I would spot for 10 to 20 days and when it finally stopped I ovulated a few days later. On average I was ovulating cd30 but it was as late as cd47 one month.
My GP sent me for an ultrasound and they couldn't see anything wrong. I also had blood tests that made her suspect pcos and this was then confirmed by a fertility specialist.
The specialist had me start metformin to balance my hormones and I stopped getting the spotting but was still ovulating cd30. I probably could have waited longer for cycles to shorten but decided to use clomid.
That is just my experience with it... hopefully for you it is just a once off thing

Thankyou so much Atomic and Purple for your responses the bleeding has stopped now, it lasted for 4 days (CD 14-17) but the final day was just some tiny amounts of brown spotting.
im now on CD 19 and had no bleeding yesterday or today so im hoping its sorted itself out now i have continued with the opk's just incase, i got my positive on CD 20 last month and tomorrow will be CD 20 so maybe i will still ovulate this month!! i am cramping on and off still..
will let you know what happens and fingers crossed things return to normal next month!! hope things are going well with your pregnancy purple not long to go now!! xx

kept going with the opk's and finally got a positive today 14 days since the start of the 3 day bleed i had and 27 days since the start of my last normal period so im assuming this "mid-cycle" bleeding was a period?
fingers crossed this means things are back to normal now..

Sounds like it could have been with that timing. My periods were quite light but the mid cycle bleeding was a lot lighter (although sometimes more than just spotting). As I said though, I ovulated a few days after it stopped so it wasn't AF for me.
Looks like just a wacky cycle. Hope everything gets back to normal and you get a BFP soon!

Wow, the timing does seem like a period! Can't say for sure without blood tests/ultrasound but I'm glad things sound like they're back on track now!!

it does doesnt it!! its bizarre ive never had anything like this happen before but ive not long got my periods back since having my last baby so im guessing its just things getting straightened out.. but having said that they have always come back regular after my other babies.
either way im classing it as a (very light) period and now just waiting to see when my next one arrives and then i'll take it from there
