What will your baby sleep in for the first few months ?

We sold our crib / cot etc after ds3 and I know we will need a new cot but i dont want to buy a crib again like last time as he was only in it 4 months then went straight to a cot.
I have a moses basket on a stand which we would use for the first 8 weeks ish and then after that I have a basinette / pram style carry cot that is bigger than the moses and also on a stand but its not quite as big as a crib.
Im worried as to whether it will do or not. I think i need to get it all down from the loft give it a good clean and then borrow someones 4 month old baby and see if they fit !!! ha ha

Just wondering what everyone elses babes will sleep in - will u use a crib or something else ?

Our family is now complete - no more babies for us. We didn't get our girl but I wouldn't trade my boys for the world, so in love.

arrr i see - a crib is here is like a little swinging thing ..... wooden and like a tiny cot. A cot here is what you guys call a crib i guess and then we have a cot bed which is a crib that turns into a toddler bed if that all makes sense

A Crib = a smaller US crib (something that fits in the parents room that the baby would sleep in for the first few months. Also like a cradle, but a cradle rocks)

A Cot = an American crib

A Cotbed = an American crib that turns into a bed.

That's so neat! I never knew that That makes sense! I never used something like that - I went from bassinet right to crib (as in a cot hehe)!

We will use a bassinet type bed (what you would call a crib) in our room until the baby's old enough to move to a bigger crib. My DS is still in his at almost 2, and I don't really want to let him out any time soon -- I like knowing that he's contained, because he gets into everything! LOL

Mom to a blended family of 5 kids (3 boys, 2 girls), with one more due in late May 2013. We swayed for a girl, but have a sweet baby boy on the way.

I have my DS2 in the big crib still at 2 yrs 5 mnths old it is the round stokke one,and the same happened with my first DS they stay until just before 3 yrs in it I think it depends on the child too ,like my eldest wanted out of the bassinett and into the crib at a much earlier age than my second who would still love to sleep in my room if i let him! Im hoping this baby will be an easy one again like my first bornSo i will o the bassinet again, and when they get too big, start to show signs of rolling or moving too much i move them to a crib,i also use a pack in play, where they have the sleep net half way in between that,,,i forgot about that, just wheel it aorund the room you want them to sleep in,love it!

maybe ill not bother with a crib then ( as in the small wooden swinging type ) and just use my pram carrycot thing or the moses basket ad then if they outtgrow that review the situation. We wont buy a cot until baby needs it as have no where to store it and no nursery as such to put it in !!!

Im going to get a second hand basinette, then move up into a porta cot while still in our room, then when bub is 1 year old will go into a wooden cot/crib in DDs room.
