sick of feeling rough - any ideas for sinus congestion?

With the weird pains i had the other week, the spd and now this awful sinus thing i am sick of feeling rough. Its not a big deal in itself just that i've been rough for over a week and am looking for a safe way (if there is one of clearing it). Its all behind my eyes and my throat, i'm struggling to sleep and my nose is constantly running. The pharamcist told me i can't take decongestant whilst pregnant (which i know would shift it) and i've tried the vapor stuff you put in a bowl which isn't working. Any one have any ideas for things to try that are safe or do i just need to ride it out (which is fine if i do would rather do that than upset my little passenger!)

Sounds really quite useless, but would honey and lemon mixed with a little hot water and paracetamol work? Hopefully the paracetamol should start to help dry out your sinuses.

Sorry your feeling yuck. I can sympathise as I suffer with my sinuses and get sinusitis at least once a year, I usually need antibiotics when it's a bad case. I've had two horrid colds this pregnancy and my sinuses were really sore and throbbing. I always get pain around my jaw and in my teeth with it too. It does make you feel miserable especially when you can't breathe.

I took paracetamol and drank lots of water which seemed to help a little. I also sat in the bathroom with the shower running hot and the steam really helped unblock my nose. Luckily it didn't turn into sinusitis as I would have been really reluctant to take antibiotics.

Hope your feeling better soon x

Saline, squirt saline up your nose to clean and clear things out. Use a humidifier to keep your nose/sinuses moisturized so they won't run in response to irritation....I know you are miserable.
Can you take allergy meds to stop the runny nose??

Hang in there....it should pass eventually.

I had one to last week. I steamed with boiled water and salt. Took nasal spray with salt. A bit of tylenol to keep me going and I slept a lot. Hot tea with honey.

There is a decongestant spray you can use but I can't remb what its called so just read the labels as it does say you can use it in pregnancy

Have you ever tried a netti pot? I've got one and I love it...it's tough at first (I usually ended up with salt water all over my shirt) but you get the hang of it after a while...

I am clearly chiming in a little late on this one but I agree that the netti pot is great! I had never used one before pregnancy and it took some getting used to but I am now a fan for life. It can be messy but when your options for meds are limited, it does give some fast relief.
