from the article Bigwish linked( two birds w/ one stone for cyclists lol)- Male marathon runners do not appear to have reduced sperm counts, although exercise that consistently heats the testicles, or which requires very tight-fitting shorts, such as cycling, may not help."-

right but keep in mind that lower sperm count to sway pink is just a theory that may or may not even be the case.

My DH works out 7 days a week...no matter what! To say he is obsessed is an understatement. His workout includes an hour of extreme lifting and then an hour of cardio. He takes all kind of supplements, tons of caffeine, energy drinks, protein shakes, etc.

But, we moved in November and he had to find a new gym. The gym he found plays pick-up basketball every day. Basketball is his other sport obsession so lately he has just been going and playing 2 hours of basketball instead of all the weights and stuff. And, if he does the weights, he will use the basketball for cardio. I hope that maybe him doing more cardio vs weights will make some difference for us!

I think cardio is better for DH and weights may potentially raise T levels BUT that having been said, if your hubby won't give htem up, see if he'll wear a jock whilst doing his lifting and it may help a bit.

I'm convincing DH to take up running again - he used to run a few miles a day before DS came along. As for me, I would love to include cardio but am a bit worried about losing too much weight. I've already lost about 3 lb in a month and don't have much left to lose (5'1 and 107 lbs) - BMI is currently 20.2. Should I prioritize the exercise or not losing too much weight?

Dreaming, I am thinking if you wait to do the exercise just a couple weeks before O it could help! I am not planning on doing it everyday until 2 weeks before O, it's just too rough on the body, at least for me. I think exercise is a more in the moment thing than the diet. That is my opinion at least.

The unfortunate answer is that I don't know and it probably varies by individual anyway.

The exercise has gotten such good results that my suspicion is it may be better to up cals and include exercise (staying steady or nearly so on weight) but I don't have the data to be able to give a straight answer on that.

this is not my thinking. When you start exercise, you do see a temporary boost in testosterone levels (using muscle, makes your body make testosterone) and it's only if it is sustained over the course of time that you end up burning off those stores of muscle and fat, and end up shrinking muscle mass.

There are still benefits for improving insulin control from more moderate exercise, and if you are doing good on diet and losing some weight, you can def get a girl with less exercise, but in terms of exercise ALONE without diet, I think 60 6-7 all month is best.
