    Saw Palmetto and Vitex

I can't find it on the forum so hopefully there is someone with a bit of advice.

Two cycles ago I started using Saw Palmetto, but it completely messed up my cycle. I was spotting all the time and finally had my menses without having had an ovulation. I don't dare use it again.

Could vitex do the same for me or does this work differently? And can I start vitex a few days before O or should I wait till AF for a new cycle?

    Thanks!

    Hey
They work differently so worth trying the vitex I woul wait for next cycle it's important to only take af-o with vitex

All these things seem to help sway girl but we don't know exactly how so if they seem to mess you up too much it's a good call to stop taking them, I've stopped taking both.

    Good luck x

Vitex can certainly move things around with your cycle. It's advised to only take Vitex if you have cycle issues because it can mess up a normal cycle. If your hormones are already in good balance you don't want to tip it out of balance with Vitex

Similarly, SP can change things too, and not always for the better. My advice would be to wait enough time until your cycles are back to normal for you (ie. no spotting, your usual O time and LP), and try Vitex if you want to after that. You should only do Vitex AF-O or for the first 14 cycle days, whichever is shorter. Taking Vitex throughout can delay ovulation or interfere with conception. But definitely give it a break for at least a month for your body to 'settle down' after the SP, you don't want to be throwing Vitex on top of a screwy cycle right now.

Thank you! After my messed up SP cycle I had a fairly regular cycle again. If this cycle ends in a BFN I might try the Vitex to see how things go for the next cycle.

Agree with what everyone already said, but I want you to be sure you're only taking the V and SP from AF - a day or two before you expect to ovulate. If you take the V and SP all month, it can delay ovulation.

Some people have reported that V and SP together, messed up their cycle less than either alone.

I would wait to start vitex until CD 1.

Thanks Atomic. Good to know that V and SP taken together can mess up my cycles. SP did that already once, so I won't be trying that one anymore. I'm in my 2WW and haven't used vitex yet, so perhaps it might not be necessary ;-).
