Does spacing sway? How quickly after last baby should we TTC a girl?
I've got three beautiful boys now and can't afford to go high tech next time. DS3 is 3.5 months old and I was wondering whether there is any research on baby spacing swaying? I.E. should we TTC asap while I'm BF to get pink? Or should we wait till DS3 is a year or two old and I've stopped BF? Or is there no pattern? Thanks!

I have no idea but I could have written your post! HT is so tricky from the UK unless you have tons of cash! Hope you are doing ok with your 3 boys and someone knows a bit more than me on spacing! X

I think I did read somewhere on here that breastfeeding maybe could sway pink.

Weezie, I did get my only dd right after I quit BF my son. they are 22 months apart. I know my body wasn't in great condition and that's why I got a girl. all your little ones are young still and close enough together--I think, in my unexpert opinion, that soon would be good timing. But then, you did have 3 boys in a row, so I am just not sure. You need Atomic!

I do think that a quick turnaround tends to sway pink but at the same time, you can't always see that in terms of results because sometimes the people who are ABLE to get pg very quickly are in great condition and highly fertile (hope that makes sense, a bit hard to explain, let me try again)
Declining condition and lowered fertility such as just having had a baby, sways pink BUT...
most people who are in declined condition after having had a baby are so much lower in fertility that they can't conceive SO...
a fairly high % of the people who are able to get pg at all after having just had a baby are in fine fettle so their fertility was not much declined and were able to still conceive boys. This doesn't mean that a close spacing between kiddos ddoesn't sway pink because I strongly believe that it does, but it is just an explanation about how and why people are still able to get boys even with close spacing.
Above all else you need to do what's best for you and your family. Close spacing is not a guarantee for the reasons I just mentioned above, plus it can be hard on you physically and it's a hard row to hoe with lots of little boys to care for. Please put your health and sanity first because it's entirely possible to get an opposite even with the best sway tactics.
Re breastfeeding and swaying, I do think it sways pink but again, since it depresses overall fertility, the same effect occurs where people who are prob. most likely to conceive girls, may not even be able to conceive at all and the people who are able to get pg while BF, may be in better condition overall and more fertile, so it makes the number skew in a 50-50 ratio even tho the BF in and of itself is swaying pink. Plus I think that the demographic of people who are willing to TTC whilst breastfeeding is made up of more "blue-friendly" type of ladies to begin with - extended breastfeeding is something of a luxury and implies a certain economic status and it's been shown in studies for 150 years that higher economic status = more boys conceived.
FWIW I got 3 boys without breastfeeding, a boy and a girl with breastfeeding. So while it wasn't a magic bullet for me, it did seem to help sway pink to some extent.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Thanks Atomic. As always you're a huge help. I think I might go for the sanity option then as all three boys were conceived first try, suggesting our fertility is good. So work out when the spacing works for me then get one of your sway plans and go for it!

Has anyone in the UK heard of Sarah Broad's baby consultancy? Based in Henley-on-Thames? Apparently she's pretty successful at helping people get their DG.
