im hopnig to get pg in the next 2months as i dont want it to miss the that school year and be one of the oldest in its class! It seems like there in school for ages when they are
that's strange, I'd have preferred my child TO be the oldest in the class because the older ones in the class are shown to perform better in the educational environment as they have the advantage of being better at communication, and a more mature brain, etc. The youngest ones have a disadvantage... (not that that's stopping us TTC this month!)

i disagree with that as i think it depends on the child. My ds1 was born in march so mid in the school year and the teacher always tells me he is a little treasure to teach and he is very advanced for his age (one of the top in his class) whereas i know some children in his class which are born in sept/oct and they are quite disruptive and boisterous. I think it all comes down to each individual child and has a lot to do with how there are brought up. The first couple of years of a child's life their brain is like a sponge and learn from there parents in how to behave etc. As you may agree every child is unique and even brothers and sisters behave and are very different from one another and this is all to do with how they are wired up. Take for example a 12 month old child. Some children at that age can already walk yet half of them can only take a few steps or not at all. This hasn't got anything to do with when they were born but has alot more to do with there brain development. I do agree with you that they do get a better opportunity to develop communicative skills if they are in school quite abit longer than normal. But there again this also comes down to whether they have already had interaction with children from an earlier age also.

Me too rainbow my boys have a September and November Birthdays so will both be one of the eldest in their class.
I'm really happy with this especially them being boys! But I get what sunset means. DS1 still has another whole year at preschool so is in the same class for nearly two years! Where as some of his friends with summer birthdays have already started school.
But for this one i'd quite like them to have an August birthday as it means they'll be born in the summer holidays and I can get into some sort of routine before the 9 a.m starts as i'll have DS1 in school and DS2 by then will be in pre-school.
I'll add the list to the thread it's really useful having everything in one place epecially if you're a bit of newbie to swaying like me!
ELP congratulations on your little blue bump:celebrate:. Wow 8 kids that's amazing! I'm still trying get my head around having 3 one day:bigsmile:.
Thanks for all the info on diet. I had a very boy friendly diet as I lived of jacket poatoes, apples and bananas mainly. Then when TTC DS2, cereal, pasta, pizza, and veggie sausages and fruit. I was also very into breakfast.
So fingers crossed if I make the right changes it'll will work out and i'll get a dd!

Littlemisswilko the stats do support what Rainbow says a child born in August is not going to do as well as one born in September when they first start school because they are effectively a whole year younger, even though they have been placed in the same academic year so will automatically be at a disadavantage. But as kids get older it does tend to even out. Although saying that out of all my friends that I went to school with the brightest and most focused were the ones born between September and January! lol so who knows.

My son is born in August but for us it's winter.
Our school year is Feb - Dec. But the cut off is July you have to be 5 or turn 5 before July that year so you can start. My son missed out on cut off by a week so had to start school the next year.
So other children born in the same year as him got to start but he had to wait, even though he is only 1-2 months older then some of them.

October 26th, 2011, 07:32 AM
oh, I'm not disputing that it also varies by the child as of course you will get some intelligent and some needing more help at all ages, but on the whole the statistics do show that the oldest in the year do better. A year makes a lot of difference when they are 4 years old!
I expect the amount of time the parents put in to help them at home or before school makes a difference too... ideally I'd like an autumn child next to give them the best start I can, but of course I wouldn't be disappointed if we had a summer baby it just means they might need more help to catch up. Then again, after my first pregnancy, I'd just be happy for another baby born at any time of year!

I agree there are pros and cons for babies being born at all times of the year.
I'd love a summer baby as it means days outside being able to go for walks without the fear of getting soaked.
Not having to wrap them up in so many layers. Being able to get out and about more with all the attractions open in the summer months. Having X-mas and Birthdays spaced out.
The only con's I can see is that being the youngest in your class which can be hard at the start and also being the last of their peers to be able to drive, drink etc as they get much older.
But for me this time the pros far outweigh the cons as I'd really like to experience having a baby in the summer for a change especially having older children to entertain!

Although I can see the difference between some children in the school year i personally think alot of it is down to the child and then their environment - ds1 is end of may but so one of the 'youngest' in ability when he started school VERY late speech and communication but now you couldnt tell and he is better than some of the older ones. ds2 is much older than ds1 seemed and there is only 2 months difference in their age. ds3 will be a baby but for me i am quite happy i wouldnt want to have to do preschool runs for nearly 2 years! Same with this beanie - infact i was going to aim for an august baby! Personally out of all 3 I have enjoyed ds3 pregnancy in the sense of the seasons I loved it being warm and having a bump rather than feeling like a lump covered in massive jumpers etc
Petal EEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee EDD is here well he cant wait too much longer then x i always take RLT tablets as i cant stand the tea and always had quick labours hope it works for you
Deaks - yay for temp rise

Nor me nor anyone I bet! lol But it's when your a night out and you need ID to get in and 5 out of 6 people have it. That's no fun. Cos you don't want to leave your friend behind and and they don't want to feel like their ruining the night if you don't go in!
But of course the way around that is house parties! They were some of my best memories..... ''So who's got a free house this weekend?'' lol

Here, where I live, the cutoff for school is September 1 and school starts mid August so you could start school before you turn the age for school which is crazy. I have an August baby and a May baby. The August Baby I chose to hold back and wait to start school the following year. She would have been 4 turning 5 when school started and because others choose to hold their summer birthdays back here, some kids would have been 6 starting the year when my kid was 4- that is a HUGE difference in maturity, height, etc. So now, she is not even the oldest but somewhere in the middle but certainly not the youngest child. She has had no issues, handles things that come at her well and is a confident kid.
Now my May baby- she is really smarter book-wise than her older sibling- she has a higher IQ. She is one of the youngest in her class because we chose to send her to school knowing that she was smart enough to handle school. I see a big difference in the homework that comes home, her handwriting, and to us, she is not as mature and you can just tell that there is a year difference and she will be one of the last kids to drive which scares me because I'd rather her be the one driving than have her in the passenger seat of some other new driver. It is scary thinking about that.
Also, sports. We do swim team. The cutoff for that is June 1, so for each age division, whatever age you are by June 1, that's the group you swim in. For our elder child, this works out fine- she is one of the older kids swimming in each age bracket each year- it gives her a slight advantage. Our May birthday is on the short end of the stick because she is swimming against kids that when she just turns 7 this May, she will have to swim against a child that might turn 9 in the Fall months and you can only imagine that kind of difference in maturity/athletics at this age.
There is a book written here about that very subject- athletics and kids' ages and how it affects them throughout their lives. Our May birthday just cannot compete with the older kids. She is not built that way. So, we have found other things that she can excel at and feel good about herself doing. It's not fun to finish last all the time!
I don't worry at all about intelligence and birth month. I think that is just part of your DNA.

yes we always enjoyed the house parties when the parents had gone out themselves. But even so my younger friends got fake id's which worked a treat! not that i would encourage my child to do this! but that was what it was like when i was up to no good!

Indigo, im dying for you to test! hope this is your month! GL!
Petal, the only thing that got my boys on the move was pineapple. I ate a whole pineapple which got my back waters leaking with ds1 and then for ds2 i dranks and drank TONS of fresh pineapple juice which was much nicer and he came shortly after. Might be coincidence but might be worth a shot!
Ladies, im quite selfish in my thinking of birth months. Its nothing to do with how they will do at school as i really think this sorts itself out but moreso the fact that i would love to be able to throw summer birthday parties... ha ha!

I've just been carving pumpkins with my boys, boy that was stressful ds2 was just trying to eat all the pumpkin mush. They're both obsessed with fruit and veg and will try anything raw even if it tastes bad. Then he was trying to hug one of our kittens with mushy hands, they enjoyed it so that's all that matters. So bored today, still waiting in for the tiles for the playhouse to be delivered, going a little stir crazy.
Just want to get out and about. Is it pouring where you are? It's sporadic here. So it looks kind of sunny then it starts to rain or hail!
Indigo please test! Sending you bfp vibes.

Brilliant 3 kids to keep an eye on plus about another 30-40 milling around and me shakey and faint and with a knife! STRESSED wasnt even close!!

Deaks that's amazing! ours turned out a little rubbish I needed a thinner blade on the knife really. But the boys like them. Next year might try a witch on a broomstick or something more creative.
Charlie I love doing crafts I try and always make Thank You cards with the boys but we've never made Xmas cards before together. DS2 would really enjoy it. Anything involving glue and sticking! The pumkin event sounds like a fun idea for the kids but much easier for those that only had one child to contend with. Everything seems to get more stressful as the numbers go up!

Hey everyone, I found you all ha ha!
Havent been on PL for a week and was so shocked to see its closing, but so glad I popped on today to catch the moving post.
Am so behind with whats happening, will have to make sure I pop on daily now.
Im still holding out to ttc from March time, then I thought leave it till the year after, but after charting this month my suspicions of a short lp is confirmed - 9 days. Although I suspect I ovulated 2 days later than ff said so could be 6! So going to chart for 2 months and then go to the drs before ttc as do not want to risk another mc. So if I need treatment, Im not sure I can do all the sways - might not feel right as they may only give me limited time to try things so should ttc as best as I can, hard one! Bloody PCOS I thought it wouldnt be that easy. Just lucky my 2nd child managed to stick with no problems! With DS1 I had a hcg shot and progesterone shot.
Hope your all well, any recent bfp's?

Hope your all well, any recent bfp's?
yayy chocolate, glad you found us!!! we were wondering where you had got to.
charlieispy recently got a BFP and deaks attempted the other night. so we have all got our FX for her. Mabeybaby has been blessed with a healthy little boy, she found out yesturday! :) and My attempt is a few days away!! Indigo is 10dpo so were bugging her to test very soon!! Got a few more newbies to the thread also!!!
have you tried b6 to try and lengthen lp? hope things work themselves out. got my fx for you xxx

Poor Dave, it's not him, it's my lost chance of my girlie! I was toying with Pgd but it's the thought of 4 kids!! Never, ever have I wanted 4 kids!!! I have a three bed semi and little chance of moving as its a expensive area and we don't own this house so extending it is a no-goer. Plus I like my holidays. I couldn't go abroad with four kids every year.

Thanks for the update, hope for some more good news soon then!
Maybeybaby - I understand your post now, Ill just ramble and hope I dont offend or say something that doesnt make sense: justgive yourself some time, let yourself feel however you feel and do not feel guilty for it, I had days in pregnancy with DS2 where I would just think 'bloody typical' and just not know why as I really thought I would not feel dissapointed, think hormones dont help - I felt down and just wanted to pin it onto something! Looking at DS2 now, I would happily have another 2 of him, no dissapointment when I look at him at all, wouldnt swap him for the world. Will be swaying for a girl, and who knows, may feel some sadness if I find out its a boy again - but not about the baby, more about the lack of pink in the house, but I know once that little person is here Id be smitten, sure you will be too.
LittlemissW, no I havent tried any supps as still bfeeding and not trying till March so will chart for a few months and see whats happening before asking the drs what route to take, just do not want to risk a miscarriage again, never thought it would happen to me even with all the percentages not in my favour, and was a bit shock when it did happen, do not want a repeat of that so if I can hold off ttc till they sort my lp for the best chances then so be it.

Thats exactly how I see it ' not the baby, the chance of a girl'.............. thats how I felt with DS2. At least you realise that though, 3 to 4 isnt a big jump apparantly lol, app. 2 to 3 is worse lol

That is the only downside to having a large familys as holidays abroad become very expensive. As a family we havent been abroad but enjoy lots of caravaning holidays in the summer as its quite cheap and the boys love it. For me if baby #3 was a boy then i know i would definately consider pgd as i dont think i could let go of my dream!

Chocolate - I am sure your right. I wasn't fussed about the sex of ds1 or ds2 so hopefully this will pass. I think I just want a bloody good cry and get over it. However work is so busy and I had to go in today after only finding out yesterday. Maybe if I still feel poop after the weekend I will phone in sick. I soooo wanted this baby - still want this baby. I just want to be happy again. I know other people with three or two of one sex and they are happy, some wasn't at the time but they got over it. I just need to get over it now, today!!

Maybe - this is exactly what happened to me - had the scan was fine went out brought a few bits saw my BF told her etc etc......that night I started crying and without being OTT i pretty much cried for 3 days AND nights....lying in bed sobbing my poor DH didnt know what to do. It was a mixture of mourning for a daughter I thought I would never have AND the awful guilt i felt for feeling so disappointed. DS3 was my first pregnancy that wasnt high risk and I was still devestated that he was a he. And like you say its not the babies fault so you beat yourself up for feeling upset. What I am trying to say is that it will get better it will I promise and oh my how I wouldnt swap my ds3 for a girl no way never even if he was my only chance for a girl I love him so much he melts my heart. I am so glad i found out though - i mourned i wailed and i shouted it wasnt fair (and i mean pretty much lost the plot for a while) but after doing all that I never felt any disappointment with his birth or his arrival he was a he and a beautiful he. I was going to keep his sex a secret but the constant questioning the oh i beat its a girl really stung and cut deep so I ended up telling most people to shut them up! Anyway I hope my ramble makes you feel not so guilty for feeling the way you do and give you hope that it will pass x Trust me when I find out this bean is a boy I will shed more tears but I know it will pass and I feel more at ease this time as either way no more babies after the bean x FX all going well x
For me the one of the worst things is the pity you get from people who cant think before they speak....idiots
anyway been thinking of you x x much love x

Oh maybe, I can't really add anything that the other ladies haven't already said except that I like Charlie really suffered after finding out with ds2. I also cried for about 3 solid days and nights but then by the time the birth came round I was soooo excited. When he was born I wasn't overwhelmed with love immediately (though I put that down to the pethedine not the gender!) but oh my god, about two days later, my heart more than made up for it and I haven't stopped looking at him totally besotted ever since!! it will get easier, but you need to let yourself have a good cry. I was actually wondering if I should order another- one for over each ovary instead of centered. Its pretty strong..my kitchen appliances are stainless steel very often i get attached to them-to the car too!!! LOL

just curious, im presuming you have had 2 children? and both they were sections??? have you been advised by a doctor that you can only have 1 more child. If i do get pg then i will most likely have to have a section after having 2 already but i have never been advised or told how many sections a person can have
i'm sure i read somewhere they only like you to have 3 sections they did actually tell me after my second that it wasn't wise to have another. i will go on a hunt to see what i can find out

ok i'm back i don't know where i heard it but my research seems to show you can have as many as you like but they only reccommend 3 cause the more you have the more chances of probs.
also if you have had one csection you can then have a vb but you can request another csection if you want.
i have to have csections because i have a unsually shape utherus and each side works against each other and also babies get stuck if they lie wrong way my son got stuck in c/s.

I have been told you are limited- 3 is OK 4 is pushing it... I think its because your cervix shortens.. scar tissue etc. everyone is different but I think thats the general consensus

Crashing.....there are many women out there that have had VBAC's after 3...even 4 sections:) The rupture rate doesn't increase that much from 1 to 2 previous sections. As long as syntocin isn't used to augment the labour and preferably no epi is used(as you can feel if there is any separation whereas when you are numb it's very hard for the woman to know) it's very safe in comparison to another section:) Sorry if you know this info already! hello all
lots of chatter again :D.... I'm trying to keep up!
Hang in there Maybe - I'm sure you'll feel brighter soon...
lovebeingamummy - where in Australia are you? I'm in Melbourne.
The school cut off age has changed to April now. (I'm a primary school teacher here... although only doing emergency at the mo) I kind of prefer the system here as there is a little room for manouver. In the UK it is the 31 August cutoff and then 1 Sept you are in the next school year. Here in Aus you get a few months flexibility and you can decide to start them early or late. I've looked into it as I'm not sure where we will be putting our boys into school. Although DS2s birthday is 31st August! I am not saying he wośldn't be fine as the youngest in the year... I just wish I had some choice to say... I think he would benefit from an extra year before starting school. In some European countries they don't start til 6...
Anyways... I just saw my bestfriends new baby girl for a little cuddle... she was wearing one of those little pink terry towelling all-in-ones and it really affected me... made me feel a little sad with longing...
Went to my docs this morning to check in and was hoping to get an early scan but he wouldn't do one. I've had one with my other 2 pregnancies so I'm a bit annoyed. I really like getting an early scan. He's just ordered the million and one blood tests. :D Feels like time has slooooooowed down.
Deaks - hope you caught that little egg!! Hopefully the 2ww goes quickly.

chocolate - (nice name btw!) I've got a luteal phase defect too. The defect itself can't cause MCs (not ones that you would be able to detect anyway because it wouldn't have implanted for long enough to get a BFP). If you had a MC, chances are it was down to a genetic cause, something that went wrong during conception... which is sadly very common.
I'm BF as well, my DS is 10 months, but I'm taking vit B6 to increase my LP. It's gone from 3 days (yes, really!) to 8 days last cycle. I'm hoping for a long enough LP this cycle to conceive. Vit B6 is perfectly safe when BF as long as you don't take it in ridiculous doses that would be harmful for you.

Rainbowflower - I thought I read somewhere about the lack of progesterone could cause a miscarriage up til the placenta takes over - but could be wrong, will look for the link later and post it, had some good info. About the lp defect. Hope the B6 works for you, I'm going to chat to a friend who is a gp later about what they would do if I can't lengthen it myself. Don't know if they would suggest clomid or progesterone - I think they would say ttc and see what happens, but I don't really want to do that if it could end in another miscarriage. However yes mine could have been dna, it felt odd from the word go, migraines etc. But sadly it took 12 long weeks to end! Deaks - have a fab holliday!

Pinga, I think I will feel the same when my brother has his 2nd girl ( poor guy really wanted a boy - they had a scan at drs at 17 weeks and they were told boy, then the 20 week scan and told girl! I had my suspicions as they could only see 2 lumps between the legs from behind, but gp said he saw something from the top view, so that didn't ring right in my ears as my boys were obvious from behind!)

once there is a pregnancy the corpus luteum continues to exist and continues to produce the progesterone which will sustain a pregnancy. A LP defect is not about the level of progesterone that is reached, it's about how long it lasts for.
The LP defect is caused when the corpus luteum dies before a pregnancy is established so hormone levels drop because of that... meaning anything that has JUST implanted when the corpus luteum dies won't have time to establish before the progesterone goes away and the lining is shed

Wishing - i have only just got the hang of my cervix this cycle and last cycle! I noticed last cycle that during ov it went extremely high and so soft it was really squidgey. This cycle it went the same softness again but i didn't notice it going as high. Height is tricky though and it could be that it went high and back in-between my checks or perhaps it just didn't go as high. TMI, but I have noticed and also read that your cervix can be prevented from going high if your bowel is quite full!! anyway it just shows that height is much more unreliable that texture/firmness! With mine if i am unsure if its soft then it probably isn't as when it is soft it feels very different! HTH's!

Hi girls, thanks for all your messages :-) no sign of anything yet! yes, will defo post pics when i figure out how to do it, took me 7 months to sort out my ticker!!! LOL.
Maybe, i TOTALLY understand how you feel :-( when i found out ds3 was a boy at 16 weeks i was absoloutly devestated as you all probably remember, i felt cheated and wish i hadnt of bothered trying for a 3rd. The hardest thing by a million miles is the comments by others, i sometimes wish i had been open about the sex but whats done is done, im glad i know he's a boy, i dont think i could deal with the emotions at birth. I suggest you get some really good come back replies ready so you make the people saying stupid things feel bad and not you! Ive had quite a lot of hurtful things said to me and i wish i had the balls to snap back at them.
Anyway, my little boy is due today and i promise promise promise you that by the time your liitle man is due you will have no sadness at all, im soo suprised in myself at how different i feel from 20 weeks ago, even if i could change him into a girl right now, i wouldnt, i want my boy more than anything, if people want to feel sorry for me then let them, i feel sorry for them for being such idiots!!!!
As soon as i found out he was a boy i also started thinking and looking into PGD, i think this was my way of healing my sadness, ive had contact with some clinics in cyprus but im not so desperate to have a girl as i was 20 weeks ago, time is a great healer and if we ever choose to go down the pgd route it will be when the time is right, i did want to go next year but now im not so bothered, if it happens it happens.
Sorry to ramble on, just want to let you know im here for you and i feel you are living my life 20 weeks ago, it may not seem like it now but you WILL feel better soon.
Lots of hugs to you maybe x x x x

Personally i would say that they are very nearly positive but not quite. Could you get hold of a smiley digi to check?
I really can't afford one at the moment... I'm using a CBFM and that's not picked up a peak (but I've had other cycles where it missed it too yet temps showed I did still OV)
the Tesco one does seem that the test line (on the left) is darker than the control on the right but I agree the IC is neg. Then again, ICs aren't the most reliable and I've only ever had a true pos on one a couple of times?

ok, well if i were you i would consider that a positive (especially if the line on the left of the tesco is the test line) and just keep testing every 4 hours (and don't drink too much). If it goes darker still then great, if it doesn't then you will know that was your positive. Are you attempting and if so, which timing method? i had to quit with the cutoffs as i just couldn't predict a fade in accurately. o+12 actually seems much easier!

I think I'll try that
I had a def positive with an IC two days ago so no idea what my body is doing, I wouldn't be able to do a cutoff either if I wanted to... although studies like this have made me decide to focus getting pregnant and not on timing:
http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM199512073332301 (especially fig 4)
might try for O+12, though, as that fits in with a different study I read that suggests DTD when Oestrogen isn't the dominant hormone (i.e. very early in cycle, during LH surge, and after OV) so that would take us to early hours of the morning I think
we BDed yesterday morning, and also in the morning 2 days before that releasing and discarding 8-10hrs before each attempt to lower sperm count (as per this study: http://www.reproduction-online.org/content/71/1/135.full.pdf+html )
here's my chart BTW: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/296ced
has anyone watched "The great Sperm Race"? That show makes me wonder how any of us pink swayers can get pregnant!!

Just wandering if your urine was very diluted yesterday which cause the neg opk? how dark were the lines yesterday? looking at your chart, you had a dip yesterday which i would have said was ov but then again i think some ladies do get a pre LH surge dip.

don't think so.. I've been drinking the same amount as normal (i.e. not much - being dehydrated is drying up my CM too which is good because I'm not happy to take an antihistamine when BF)

I do them at 12pm each day until I see them start to get darker - used to happen about 3 days before OV but this cycle has been about 5-6 days before, then I start doing them first thing in the morning (which usually gives me the best results actually), 12pm, and 7pm.

bummer, been having a think and doing some research and it doesn't look like it was a great idea of mine to do an o+12 and o+14 attempt! apparently it raises your ph which i should have known! does anyone know how much by and whether the small lime douche i did after the first attempt will have compensated for this?! should have just stuck with the one attempt!
charlieispy
October 27th, 2011, 01:13 PM
sorry hun I cant help but the fact you used lime will help x what was your PH after - did you track it? There are many things i could have done better on my sway but I dont think you can ever be 100% happy with your sway unless you hear GIRL!!

Lavenderlime
October 27th, 2011, 01:44 PM
Hi all
Deaks I don't think you should worry too much as O would have been over not long after your O+14 so you only needed the ph to stay low for a short space of time. and if you added lime then i'm sure it would have been pretty low. I think a better way of thinking about it that you doubled your chances of getting pregnant! Which after all is the aim of the game:agree::). Your attempt did sound really good!
Charlie your DS is so sweet! I love the crown!! is that what you and the boys were making yesterday?
Chocolate. I didn't get periods until I stopped breastfeeding with both my boys. Then after feeding ds2 my cycles were all over the shop.
I actually got out today to see a friend and to soft play and town to get some winter clothes. Brrrr. It's been such a wash out this half term.
Maybe i'm another one that felt desperately sad after DS2's scan I only wanted two children and really felt cheated. But 20 weeks later and I was so at peace with it and loved him to bits. Boys are just so lovely. I'm very close to ds2 and he's a mummy's boy!

Thanks ladies, don't know why Im beating myself up over it as my ph was down to 4.6max and I'm sure it would have actually been lower had I had a bigger sample to test as that always happens with me for some reason. Plus the lime douche will have had a good effect. Think I'm paranoid because I asked Tamara about it and she said she didn't have time to reply which made me think she has a long explanation of why it wasn't a good idea, otherwise she could have quickly replied something positive!
It seems that quite a few of us have had cheeky adorable mummies boys as ds2 or 3!

But I have an inner creative person that comes out every now and then. My family nag me to use my art in some way I'd love to sell on Folksy, or e-bay but I just don't have enough quiet time to concenrate on getting anything finished.
I love doing crafts with the kids but I sometimes get a little carried away and end up taking over lol. Poor boys.

Hi ladies, I am a UK SMOG wannabe without a doubt! We started TTC earlier this month and am gearing up for my second attempt in about a week. In a way I am pleased I didn't fall last month as it means we have done enough to lower our chances but also think my sway was probably stronger in terms of weight loss and diet (I suck at the diet!).
Last month we only had one attempt on the day of :) and we dumped the first batch and used the second. This month, I was thinking about attempting as soon as I get a :) then again 2 days later (hoping for O+12) but with DH releasing in between. Any thoughts?

DS1 ended up overnight in hospital both times he got bronchiolitis.
Got my blood tests done today - FIVE vials of blood needed! FIVE!!! eugh... hate getting blood taken! :P
Oh question for everyone. My doc said that he wants to do a pap smear. I've had abnormal ones in the past and several treatments. I'm not due one until December but he thinks I should get one. I don't really want to get one because I worry I suppose. I mean if there were some abnormal cells its not as though I could get them treated until after the baby is born anyway... Anyone had a smear while PG???

deaks - when I was 3dpo I had a bit of bloody mucous when I wiped... I thought it was way too early... but it was obviously something :) you never know...
maybepink3 - so you're starting to feel a bit off? Most of the time I'm feeling not quite right but nothing major. I am hugely emotional though. I almost burst into tears at the doctors when explaining how DS2 was... which is not something I'd normally do! I kind of like getting some feelings... even the bad ones... because I can still say... 'I must be PG' :D
Charlie - that is the funniest picture :D
Anyway I have a sick little man wanting mummy-cuddles.... makes you feel so needed and special.

pinga - so sorry to hear your Ds is poorly! how horrid for him. hope he gets better soon!!! ive never had a smear done never mind when ive been PG im under the age of getting one here in the uk. i think its 25
Just need a bit of advice from you girls. took my BBT this morning and it was very low than normal. took a digi with fmu and still no smiley altho the line is getting slightly darker but no way yet a positive. i did take my temp earlier than normal do you think this would affect my temp. It is right that your temp goes low just before O right? When i stuck the probe under my tounge it went into the normal range of temps but i dont normally take my temps from under the tounge, normally on the top. Just so bloody confusing, dont want to miss O this month too

Littlemiss- I often get a dip in temp on or before O day. taking it earlier could definitely affect it. I think taking temp under tongue is more accurate but I guess you should keep doing what you were for consistency. Hope you get your positive soon! GL

littlemiss, just keep testing and you will get a smiley! do you always get a smiley cd12 or was last month an exception?! i would keep testing your temps in the way you normally do or you will get inconsistent readings. You can get a pre ov dip or a pre LH surge dip i think. But then again you can get wacko readings for all sorts of readings. Just keep testing :)
Indigo, so sorry if af does arrive, but the way i look at it is at least you get a chance to tweak your sway! Next month im definitely dropping all lime and just going to do the one attempt at o+12.
petal, any twinges yet?
Pinga, i too think you should just get the smear done now or it will be on your mind.

ive only started using the digis so this is my first month using them! i have been using the same cheapies for all my other cycles and they are pretty okay. just tested again and still no smiley on digi (i did have a cup of peppermint tea about 20 minutes before hand, will this affect it much?) but the line on the cheapie is darker then todays FMU. Cervix has started to go a bit soft. but not very high. I ovulate very randomly i used to be around cd 16-18 but after taking clomid for 4 months it shortened to between 12-15 days. I arnt taking clomid this month so i dont know when my ovaries will decide to pop an egg out. Hopefully sooner rather than later!!! just going to have to keep testing

Deaks when are you going to cornwall?? what made you choose to go there? hopefully you will get all sorted and packed by tonite if your not too tired!!
deaks66
October 28th, 2011, 08:07 AM
Sounds fine to me. Just keep using digi for fmu and cheapies for rest (approx 1pm, 6pm, 10pm) until you see them getting darker and then use digi's, thats my advice. I don't think one drink will affect your lunchtime opk no. What i found was that my 6pm is always the most faint because i have had a day of fluids to dilute my urine. What i tend to do now to prevent this is to have some drinks straight after 1pm opk then go to the toilet again in half an hour to an hour and then not drink much again till the next opk. This way, i am able to get my intake of fluids in but not dilute my urine too much for 6pm.
We are off to cornwall in the morning. We quite often go there for a change from norfolk and dh has family there including his granddad who we visit. Staying near fowey which i love!

Have a great holiday Deaks.
Maybe, there are other places that do PGD cheaper than £6000 but they dont have such a good success rate as Genesis. I lost my grandad this year and my plan was to use that money to go next year, but things have changed and we need to move house to get ds1 into a good high school, his happiness and education comes first, so if we are able to save or re-mortgage at some point then i will strongly consider going to cyprus :-))
Well 40 weeks and 1 day and NOTHING!!!!!! Ive just been up an indoor play center for 3 hours, boys loved it, im knackered and didnt even do anything lol x

Deaks hope you have a lovely break away! Twinges all sounding good. I had sore boobs really early when preg with my boys.
LMW hope ov is soon for you.
Pinga. I was talking about smears with a friend yesterday as it's 25 for your first smear in the uk and i'm 25 in January. And the ones that have had theirs so far have all come back with abnormal cells! But this can turn out to be nothing. They ask you to come in between day 10-14 of your cycles as any old blood can come up as abnormal. Also your not ment to have sex for three days before as this can come up with abnormal. As any bacteria at all can cause an abnormal reading. So i'm thinking if your pregnant there's a good chance it will come up abnormal anyway and that will just worry you as there's nothing you can do about it! I would wait until after you give birth. As you don't want to worry about something that is probably nothing for 9 months!
OMG i'm so stressed. I had a call on Tuesday saying the replacement playhouse would arrive with us on Thursday evening waited all last night and nothing. Called them this morning and basically got fobbed off as to why it hadn't arrived, why I hadn't been contacted, how the lady who had contacted me intially was wrong etc. etc. In the end I was just so livid about being messed around with that I cancelled the order. So poor DP has been put under pressure to make a playhouse from scratch and errect it, finish decking the garden all before the boys party! I know he'll make a much better job than the one that's here it's just he has no time at the moment as he's helping his mum with their roof. Another freind put up a stud wall to seperate their kids rooms. As well as his regular day to day job.
He was hoping to get some of the decking finished tonight as it's stopped raining but I start work at 5pm. O dear. oh well it's out of my hands now. :(
On a good note doing well on the diet today because we went to a friends to play this morning breakfast wasn't all I thought about! I didn't eat anything till 2pm which is amazing for me.
Lastly please could someone help me with calcium citrate sups I really need to order them ASAP. I'm not too sure about the solarary ones as the mag and calcium levels are out for swaying.
littlemisswilko
October 28th, 2011, 10:23 AM
i use the solgar brand for calcium citrate with added vit d and i know sunset did too. you can buy them off amazon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Solgar-Calcium-Citrate-Vitamin-Tablets/dp/B0016K1B42/ref=sr_1_cc_2?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1319811537&sr=1-2-catcorr
i would buy the 240 tabs as they last longer and are cheaper as when i first started taking supps i was having to buy these every week as i was only buying them in bottles of 60. I take 4 a day and so does my partner so they only last 7 days.
What a nightmare they have messed you about!! did they take the first playhouse they delivered and will you be getting a refund?
Lavenderlime
October 28th, 2011, 10:36 AM
Thank so much you LMW.
Ok i will go for them there just so expensive but think i'll just have to bite the bullet and hope that I concieve quickly. DP won't take sups he thinks I'm a bit of a nutter (in a good way) for swaying.
Nope we still have the original playhouse which was the wrong order. They are ment to collect it at some point?? To be honest I feel like burning it lol. Can you tell that I've got PMT lol.
On a positive note the same friend who I was talking to about smears with is going to TTC after X mas. She has a girl and would love a boy for her DP. I've tod her about swaying in the past and we worked out that she does classic girl things.
She never eats breakfast, She's a veggie like me too so no red meat. She lives off of diet coke and probably only has one large meal a day and snacks in the evening. I think she naturally has low blood sugar as she says she often gets spots infront of her eye's or feels a bit faint. Also her DH is in a band and lives in skinny jeans!
So I've told her to start eating a big breakfast and ditch the diets coke and and just generally eat more food! Also DH has to ditch the jean!:) Don't think she'd properly sway but these things would give her a better chance of having a boy.
littlemisswilko
October 28th, 2011, 10:58 AM
yeh they are slightly expensive but if your dp isnt going to take them then they are going to last a hell of a lot longer!
Its nice you can be so open to your friends about swaying like ive said before i wont dare tell anybody except DP. im glad he's doing exactly what ive told him to except he wont do the diet. he tried it and was on it for 2 weeks but he couldnt handle it and he loves his food so we had to make a comprimise!

AFM went to the park today and as we left DS2 wanted a poo so went to the loo - he took foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr by the time i made it back to the car i had a bloodly parking ticket brilliant cheap day out not so much £40!!! or £80 if i dont pay within a week going to appeal but how do you write my toddler needed to poop in an appeal letter???
maybebabythree
October 28th, 2011, 12:55 PM
Petal - I had cramps everyday for about two weeks before DS2 came into the world. They started at 10pm and went on until 10am!! Until he came then it was a 48 hour labour!!! 48 hours!!! Mind you it was all pain free until I was 8cm dilated.
I would only consider high tech with a good clinic. If its cheap, but don't work you save nothing in the long run. If they could freeze DHs swimmers 3 cycles could be 25k. I can't belive that I would ever consider 25k as cheap! Also with four kids I would need to move. I was toying with the idea as we have a great school two miles down my road, but there is a great school in Hampshire that is the best school around here. So who knows. It's expensive here! If I owned this house it would 450k ish for a three bed semi!!!!!!! I could get a five bed detached for that back in Kent! Still both our jobs are here :¬(
I went to a RHS garden with the boys today. Love it there. So many babies there!!!!

Pinga - my smear was due when I fell pg. My doc and midwife said it's safe to have while PG but it can irritate your cervix and make it bleed so they don't like to do it over here. But then again my smears have always been ok. I am sure there wouldn't treat abnormal cellls while PG though? I would ask your doc the pros and cons and if they do routinely treat abnormal cells during PG over in Aus x

Hi Maybe, ive followed a few ladies who went to Genesis and got BFP's, check out the forums on here, i was on them alot a few months ago. Dr Savvas charges £4000 for 2nd cycles, it may even be euros, id have to check my emails, he also does his own sperm sort so the embrios are mostly the desired gender, i think this is why alot of people choose him. im doing straight TBM so NO DTD. My DP is pretty cool about everything so im lucky. :hug2:
My DP has abstained for 16 days today :bluecheer: will get him to release in my femmecup when the time is right and will be adding lime but only a small amout as my previous attempts i added so much that no wonder i havent fallen pg already, killed them before i even got the inside. My PH is quite low normally but i will be using a little aci gel about and hour before and i have started taking sudafed round the clock. depending on whether i still have some EWCM i may do a lime douche a few hours before attempt. Then with a syringe suck dp's sample up and insert. Will then insert femme cup and keep checking my ph every 30 minutes!!!
Sounds like im all prepared but ill just have to wait and see when the time comes. :nails:

im doing straight TBM so NO DTD.
:nails:
GOOD LUCK!!!! This sounds like a great plan...Hooray for you... I'll be checking in to see how it went :) :)
