ELP - Beautiful baby bump!

hope.ful - I'm so sorry xx

Hopeful: I am so sorry, praying you fall preggo very soon.

ELP: You look so great, and 4 lbs!!! Think I gained that just last month. I am sure everything will be fine next week with you measurements.

Yahmama: I so so glad that there is some more preggo ladies on here. Now that Jen had her baby things have been a little slow. Can't wait to hear about your scan in the next week or two.

MFC: How are you? Getting ready for baby yet?

This weekend I am going shopping with my mother to get a few things for the new baby and the other children for spring/summer. It will be so weird to shop in the baby boy section again. Oh, and I had my monthly appt this week and the doc wants to change my due date because I am measuring 1-2 wks ahead. But, I told my midwife that I KNOW when I conceived and MY dates are right. Stinkin hospital isn't going to try and induce me because they "think" I am overdue, when they just have my dates wrong. I guess I will just let it ride until I get closer to my due date and then bring it up again.

WP, the hospital really wants to change your due date? That is crazy! My Dr. has always been so set on the LMP date that he won't change anything, even though my u/s have routinely showed my babies farther along (my cycles are short and I typically am a few days ahead because of my early O date).

ELP, you are getting really close!! I dare you to jump on the trampoline--ha ha! That sounds so uncomfortable! I did jumping jacks trying to get DD2 out (I wanted her to be born of St. Patrick's Day, but she refused to budge until a week later!)

Has anyone heard from Begonia?

The doctor in my practice wants to change my due date, but the hospital has a stupid policy that will not allow me to go over 1 wk over due. Normally they just keep my LMP, but for some reason this guy has other ideas.....

WP- I would definitely try to hold your ground and not let him change your due date! That's so not right!!!

ELP- be safe with the trampolining! Don't overdo it! But hope your LO decides to come sooner than later!!

I went this morning to have my hcg levels checked....didn't get a call back today as hoped, so it will be tomorrow morning. I'm on pins and needles, but really feel things are ok. No cramping or spotting and I've stayed super emotional and hungry! Will update tom. when the dr calls...levels should be around 300 if all is ok.

WP, if it comes down to being induced I would definitely stick to your guns and not let them change your date.

ELP, hopefully you don't have too much longer to wait!

Yahmama, fingers crossed for lovely levels :) Have you got a scan booked in yet?

5, glad to hear you are on the mend. Only two more weeks til your scan!

So, I have my scan in 5 days. Wish the days would hurry up! I have a hens day tomorrow and I so don't know how I am going to keep this pregnancy a secret. The not drinking thing will be a dead give away!

Bec: At least 2 of the 5days before your scan is the weekend.....the weekend always flies by.

We are bracing for the bad storms on the way. This just seems like such a bad tornado season and spring is not even here yet. We had a tornado hit last Wed 3 miles from the house.

TTC5, are you still on bed rest? I can't believe you haven't had any m/s this time--lucky!!

Tink, 26 weeks already?? Have a fun party for your daughter. Sorry about the shiner--but that should make for some cute pictures! All my kids have had at least one black eye. I think it is a rite of passage.

Bec, can't wait to hear if you are having twins!!

I've shrunk some pics of most of my LO's to share:) Top pic the boys! middle pics DD's 2, 4 & 5! and bottom pic DD's 4&5:) Jen if you pop on you can see why my white haired DD reminded me of yours which you posted at the beginning of the thread xxx And in the bottom ppic, the DD on the left is the one I call my 'little DD' as she is nearly 2 years older (she's 5 in May) than her sister she is holding hands with but already alot smaller!

ELP: LOVE the pics and the little bit if a change. Anything is good.

TTC5: So how long until you get a scan now?

Bec: How many days until your appt? 2 or 3?

We are all fine, Thank God. One tornado tore up a school very close to my parents house on Friday night, but they only have a couple down trees. I thought with all the storms most people would not be out on Saturday and my mother and I would have a relaxing day without traffic.....NOT. There were so many people out and the lines were soooo long that I heard someone say it was worst than Christmas shopping...lol. But, I did get a couple new outfits for the baby and had a great time with my mother.

Hi Everyone! I just became a dream member and wanted to introduce myself. I currently have 2 DD’s and I am praying for a DS next. We are on the fence about swaying, going HT or even adopting. For now, I am assuming we will sway. I did sway using IG last time and was blessed instead with DD2, whom is incredibly perfect. I will be trying HE this time around. Sorry to ramble! I have a quick question, for those of you who had successful boy sways, what is the age gap between your DD and DS? I have a theory (one made up in my head) that a short age gap sways girl and a large gap sways boy…. but again, this isn’t scientific just something I have convinced myself of.

I have a theory (one made up in my head) that a short age gap sways girl and a large gap sways boy…. but again, this isn’t scientific just something I have convinced myself of.Now this is something I think about, but with a difference! And it comes down again to body condition. Pregnancy itself can either improve or unimprove body condition, for me it improves as I eat better and control weight gain, plus build muscle carrying the baby belly so my closer pregnancies have been boys! But other ladies pregnancy may unimprove body condition with maybe a bigger weight gain, poorer diet and more nutrients being taken by baby so meaning their bodies are left in girl territory!

wanna, what was your age gap, weight gain and body condition after pregnancy do you think??

Wow, 15wks to go for me. That seems so short, but thinking in months, June seems far away. I can't wait for the new baby, but I still have tons to do.

I agree with ELP in the fact that pregnancy has different effects on different women. I have a 2.5-2 yr gap between children and I have a mix of boys and girls.

wannahealthybaby
March 6th, 2012, 12:30 PM
This makes sense, i never really thought of pregnancy having a different effect on a woman's body. For me, I am very petite and tend to gain a good bit during pregnancy. I do gain healthy weight though through good foods. I breastfeed DD1 until she was 10 months and then conceived DD2 2 months later (actually conceived on DD1's first birthday). Do you think my breastfeeding then jumping into another pregnancy could have messed with my sway?

ELP
March 6th, 2012, 01:04 PM
Breastfeeding is something to look into, but with me I was breastfeeding more when the boys were conceived. I have 3 with the same 21 month age gap as yourself the 1st 2 are girls and the 3rd is the current bump of blue but with full swaying involved, so for me the 21 month age gap was enough time for me to have slipped back fully into my girl eating habits and to have lost any body condition gained from pregnancy! Plus any breastfeeding fat not muscle burning benefits were usualy only at a minimum by this age if there at all. So it is definately worth further investigation on this topic imo:agree:

Sorry it took so darn long to answer these questions....my life is crazy right now.

I had shoulder dystocia with DD3.
I would love info on PPH too please :) I needed a transfusion with DD4.

Can I ask what position you were in while pushing with DD3?
A lot of times it is the position we are in that causes a dystocia...that and a Dr. without patience. The head and shoulders should be able to do a full restitution before the body comes out. Many Dr's want the baby to come out fully before this happens. Dystocia rarely happens at home where a woman has full use of her body off of a hospital bed. It does happen but very rarely. About the PPH....

TTC5- Some questions- What was iron level at? They were fine during pregnancy but I was taking iron tablets.
How was your diet? I had bad ms was vomited a lot!
Any drugs during birth? No I go natural with all mine!
How long was your labor? I have had two pph with #3 and # 4. #3 went in to labour 4 weeks early and labour was around 14 hrs, #4 labour was around 10-12 max.
Did the Dr. put traction(pull) on the cord? No idea if they pulled it TBH??? I remember having a shot in my leg and they massaged my tummy?
How soon after birth was the cord cut? DD3 the dr did it right away as she was shoulder dystocia and was born with no pulse had to be resus. #4 it was cut after a few minutes by dh.
Did you feel safe and comfortable during your birth? DD4 I was very very tired as had been in pre labour for a few good days. #4 I was petrified of bleeding again and alas I did and even worse this time.
Did they leave the baby on you or whisk her away? # 3 was whisked away to resus and #4 snuggled right on me and latched herself on the boob right away!!
How soon after the birth did you start to bleed? Right away, not sure if I started bleeding while pushing though? DH and my sister said soon as baby was out it gushed out like a faucet :( My bp dropped, my hearing and visison went and I felt like I was dying.. probably was..
Was it before or after the placenta came out? Before placenta came out. With all pregnancies my placentas dont come away naturally i end up in theatre.
Did you have a full bladder after birth? Ummmm not sure as I then get taken for a general to help placenta out so am quite groggy
Were you cold after the birth? Yes and I shiver terribly but I go in to shock from the blood loss.

Have you had any d&c's? I ask because it sounds like your placenta's are sticky. It could be from scarring of the uterus which then causes your placenta to adhere to the side of the uterine wall. This would cause abnormal bleeding because parts of the placenta would detach but not others. The uterus would then not be able to clamp down those big arteries because the placenta is hindering it from doing so. It's really hard to know for sure but I would say that letting the placenta detach on it's own(with out too much massaging as that can prematurely detach small areas and cause more bleeding)would be a good idea plus no traction on the cord by anyone. If you can get into a squatting position to push it out...that's ideal. Gravity does wonderous things;) The one thing about iron you mentioned- liquid is by far better than tablets. Take it with Vit C for absorption and do not take it near consuming dairy(one hour on either side). Flouradix is pricey but so worth it. It really helps boost your stores. Even if you're not super low...it'll help you feel normal after losing too much blood. Another fantastic supp for blood clotting/hemorrhage is alfalfa tablets...super cheap...full of awesome vits and minerals and they are fantastic at stopping you from bleeding too much. They have tons of Vit K in them too so baby gets lots through your bm after birth:)

I am doing the placenta encapsulation after this birth DM....I found someone here that you pay to do it for you....I think it is worth a try!!
Awesome!! Good for you!! It is worth a try:)

DM, if your about can I bend your ear quickly
I have had a managed 3rd stage every time, just because it was the norm and I never spared a 2nd thought to it. This time again my consultants only wish due to lots of babies is managed 3rd stage. Now i recently read that it is the injection of ??? that also causes the after pains to be so bad. But i am recommended it incase of hemorrhaging, I've not had any blood losss with any of the babies yet, but I do know that it is quite possible. I have been taking my iron, much to the dismay of my constipation lol!!! but I'm nervous about not taking Dr's advice, say I go with the managed 3rd stage, what else shlould I do to minimise any risk of later hemorrhaging?? Immediate breast feed, bite of placenta (lol, can you imagine that, 'Cut me off a quick lump of that love!!') My diet is good aswell. Any advice appreciated:) They give you Pitocin(also called Syntocin). The thing is even if you refuse the pit....they can give you the shot at anytime if they notice you're bleeding a bit too much. Just because you've had lots of babies doesn't mean you're broken;) Your body knows what to do. Just make sure that babe is skin to skin, nurse as soon as babe wants it, tell the nurses to bugger off until you've had a solid hour of baby time, LIGHT uterine massage to keep an eye on how firm your uterus is and maybe bring some herbs with you if you're comfy with taking something. I use Angelica and Shephard's Purse for bleeding. Angelica is used for bleeding BEFORE the placenta is delivered and Shephards purse is used for bleeding after the placenta has been delivered. If you don't want a managed third stage you should put that down in writing and tell EVERYONE in the room what your wishes are. They are so used to giving the injection that most times they are on autopilot and forget that you didn't want it. I hope everything goes super smoothly for you ELP!!! Smooth labour vibes heading your way! If you need any questions answered during your birth...I'll give you my cell number and you can text me if needed:) xoxo

DM: I love to read your posts.....so full of knowledge. Now, why can you not live in the SE USA? You can tuck your newborn baby into one of those slings and oversee my delivery....lol!!!! That is true about the OR taking awhile to get prepped anyway. I think the knowledge of knowing you can handle anything childbirth throws at you or at least feeling confident that you can do it has a lot to do with it. I wish the gov would just leave homebirthers alone, too. They make it very difficult here to get a birth certificate and all. And it varies so much just county by county, because they rarely do it and they want to make sure they don't get in trouble for not having enough proof or paperwork.
How exactly do you recommend a placenta be delivered? When it seperates on it's own?

You are so sweet:) :HH: Thank-you, WP:) I would be there for you in a heartbeat if we lived closer!
About the placenta....don't over think it. 5 mins to 1hr after your birth you will feel kinda crampy and then you can squat over a bowl...and voila! A placenta:) I think we're sometimes more fearful of the placenta than the birth! LOL It'll come out:) Just don't worry about it. Keep an eye on your bleeding but more importantly...how do you FEEL after the birth. Tired is normal. Passing out, feeling like you don't want to hold your newborn, having no colour in your face or extremely faint...not good signs. Do not pull on it- when you feel it's time for it to come out, bear down and if it doesn't come out, try blowing into a bottle. About the BC- they make it difficult here too. Every year it gets more and more difficult to get the correct paperwork etc. But, I would rather deal with crappy paperwork than go to the hospital:) xo
PS- have you read Laura Shanley's UC book? Such a great read:)

I had an assisted water birth at home and my son ended up dying officially about 15 hrs after birth. I absolutely LOVED my waterbirth and am so sad I have to do this in a hospital this time. But the truth is, he might have lived had he been in the hospital w/ more knowledgeable people. Hard to know for sure, but just be aware that there are risks in everything. They are low but you need to be prepared for the guilt and consequences of your choices "if" something went wrong. That is not a discouragment at all, just be aware. I would have thought I would have known if something was wrong and I didn't until it was too late and there was no saving him.

I had 3 previous quick uncompicated births at the hospital before losing my son. No pain meds.

I'm so sorry about your son :( I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child. (HUGS)
You are absolutely right. Everyone has to be comfortable with the choices they make. Moms and babies die at home and in the hospital...it's not fair and many times no one is to blame...it's just the way things go:(
Before ever deciding about a UC I had to feel 100% comfortable with the risks and know that it fell completely on my shoulders in regards to responsibility. I do feel very good about my decision and I'm not against help at all. Yes, it could be too late at that point, but I cannot be guaranteed that everything would be ok or that I or baby would be saved in the hospital. Life is risk and we all need to live life the best way we see fit:) My thoughts are with you as you get ready to birth your daughter~ I hope your birth is beautiful and peaceful and that you are holding your sweet rainbow baby in your arms soon:HH: xo

Bec: Glad all went well. Lucky you, only 2 wks until you get to see your bean again.

DM: Thanks so much for the info!!! The hospital has it's way of doing things and right after birth they start trying to deliver the placenta, so they can move on to the next thing they have to do. I have talked to my midwife about the whole placenta delivery and waiting to cut the cord, but the nurses are the ones that give me trouble.....what a pain.

ELP: Wow, less than 2 wks until you due date. When is your next appt?

5: You said your not finding out, right? I can not keep up with who is not finding out.

I found out that my hospital was approved for birthing pools!!! I am excited, but the nursing staff doesn't want to learn how to use/ monitor patients in them. Come on!!! They don't need to learn anything, just let me in the pool...LOL!!!

ELP - your kids are adorable and oh yes we definitely have little blonde ones don't we :) OMG I can't believe how soon Davey will be here!!

Wannahealthybaby - my girls are all 2yrs 9 months apart my however little guy is 4 1/2 years younger then my littlest girl. I have a friend who had 3 babies in 3 years and both the younger two are boys and DH and his brother are only 11 months apart so I'll say gap probably doesn't have nearly as much to do with it as diet.

Bec - glad your appt went well :)

WP - glad you guys survived the storm! In the hospital I had my dd's at they had big ol' tubs that legally they couldn't let you deliver in but my midwife said she would be unable to get me out of in time lol I sat in the tub for a while determined to deliver in it but absolutely hated it so I got out lol

Where's B? She had to have had that baby by now.

All is good here. Nipples have toughened, bleeding has almost stopped and I'm back in my regular pants. Well my post HE diet fat pants anyway but considering it only took 16 days to get there I'll take it :) Little man is amazing, he eats constantly and is a great sleeper only waking around 4 and then again at 7ish. I stare at him constantly still amazed he's finally here and actually ours.

Tonight is a full moon here , ELP do you every go early?I usually go to date which is good, but sooo annoying when your so ready to meet little one and get the labor out of the way:oops: Do you know what I dread the most though?? The visitors when home, they drive me crazy lol! I just want to sit in bed with all the kids in the bedroom with me and a nice take-away pizza on my lap lol!! But instead you have to sit in the front room and drink endless cups of tea with people who each tell you again! their own labor stories:rofl: I would honestly have a secret delivery if I could;)

Hopefully it will be this weekend if I'm lucky!!

WP, how big were your boys and ladies??? There could definately be some juicy babies being born on here in the next few months:rofl:

girlmom: I feel your pain. I measured 2 wks ahead my last appt, too.

ELP: That's good. Right on time babies are always nice. My last boy was 8lb 7oz, but my last baby (girl) was 8lb, 4oz. I am really hoping that this baby is in the 7 pound range, they just look like newborns a little bit longer. The 8 pounders don't stay in newborn clothes long enough. BUT, it doesn't look like this baby is going to be small, I'll take him either way, though :)

As far as the visitors, I must have a "don't come visit me" look about me. We don't get a lot of visitors, but I think with us having a large family they really feel like they are imposing and making me have more work to do. I know you have a large family too ELP (but you have the opposite). My mother really is the only one that comes to visit and "helps". When my inlaws come they just think holding the baby helps....you know so I can get things done......yeah right!!!

We are going to an aquarium tomorrow, I guess I need to prepare for all the walking.

This morning I have taken down the girls bunk bed as the new triple bunk bed arrived this morning, plus I've given there room a 1st coat of paint, 2nd to be started after posting this:agree: The boys 9 & 6 had great fun throwing the old mattresses off of the stairs for me lol, and the girls stripped the bedding, with Dad taking all the stacked old frame away when he popped back in! So all i really needed to do was a bit of unscrewing:agree: And I LOVE painting!! Theres nothing more relaxing than just making all those handprints and bits of pen disappear is there. Right, I'm back to it, hopefully I'll have some exciting news at some point this week but I'm doubting it:rolleyes::bigsmile:

Jen: Oh Lord, I hope I am not measuring that far head by then. My docs really will push me to move my due date then....lol.

Tink: Love the pics. I am sure it really was a special day for you both.

ELP: Sounds like nesting to me. I also love to paint, but DH knows how to do it professionally and says I do it wrong, so he does it.....mine never looks any different to me. What color are you painting the girls room?

How does your look like? I need pics here ! I can post one after we got the bead lol.

Oh i remember WP also told me she will post pick of the cowboy room if she is having a boy.

Hi ladies,

I had my 20 week ultrasound this afternoon. My baby boy is still a BOY and growing well, BUT right now I'm terrified. The Doctor told me that my placenta is a 'little low' I have to go back in 3 weeks for another scan and also I will get an MRI next week I have had 2 previous c-sections scars and Doctor said placenta can grow into it. I was told not to lift anything heavy and not have sex, it can cause bleeding. I am so scared, and freaking out about it.

Has any one else has had this problem? Please give me some infor.on it. How did you get on with this condition and what should I expect - is it bad?

I had a ton of energy yesterday. I washed all 7 beds worth of bedding and hung it outside since we have had 80 degree temps. Then I went through 3 of the children's clothes to get ready for spring/summer. After I was done I baked 2 apple pies......and then crashed in bed. Oh, and potty training is going very good.

Why are you awake, POP?

Because I get up at 5.15am normally to get the kids ready for school before I leave for work at 6.30am. So I set my alarm for 4am to take my temp (any later and I tend to wake up before my alarm time). Today is one of those days I have been unable to go back to sleep.

Flava- glad things are going well. Nausea is a good sign! I know it sucks. I have had it since 6 weeks, and it hasn't let up yet. But luckily not as bad as the last two pregnancies--those times I was so nauseated, I could barely eat anything, and all the food sounded and smelled gross! Thist ime it is pretty mild, and if I eat often, it feels better.

Sorry MFC, I completely missed your update xxx
HE is gorgoeus!!!!!!! Thats quite a heavy diagnosis the Dr came out with isn't it  I've never heard of the placents growing into the scar before? I would have thought that the membrane sack would have helped with that but tbh honest I don't really know how things in general are set up in there. The babies in the sack, the placenta is outside the sack and the cord crosses the two, like a straw through the sack??? I'd follow Drs advice about taking it easy, hopefully the follow up scan can shed more light in a few weeks:hugs:

I don't know who told you this ? Must be a doc for sure :sigh:They LOVE to talk about the danger of vaginal delivery and how "safe" is the c/s! The placenta sure can grow in to scare tissue even deep in to the uterus. C/s is dangerous and the more you had the higher the risk.Just read this about C-section complications (http://www.livestrong.com/article/31679-multiple-csection-complications/). Im so glade I was lucky to have a vback .Want to do it again with this baby .Hopefully i get there.
Im not saying vaginal delivery is always safe and c/s is always very risky .But it's just ridiculous how every doc lie about this!

WP, no nub guesses for me! I am terrified of finding out that it is a girl and having my pregnancy ruined. I am pretty sure I am having a girl and that my sway didn't work. But to have actual validation of that fear would be hard for me right now. I will do much better when they hand me a baby girl in the delivery room.

Have fun working on the farm this weekend!

We are having a St. Patrick's Day celebration on Saturday, with a shamrock cake, corned beef, cabbage and potatoes. My two older kids have set Leprechaun traps to try to catch a little gold. I love St. Patricks's Day! The "leprechaun" turns our milk green, and the toilet water green, and the dog water, and usualy leaves candy in the kids' traps.

Not everyone here does stuff for St. Patty's day. Usually the kids' teachers mess the classroom up the night before and say the leprechaun did it, and some families do fun stuff like we do. My husband makes sure to get some Guiness too! My mom's mom was Irish, so we have always done something fun on St. Patty's Day.

Flava, that's a bummer about the blood test. Your health system is so different to ours so I never know what the norm is. Hope you are feeling well. Oh and thanks for the anniversary wishes :)

WP, hopefully you're not too exhausted after your big weekend. Being pregnant really takes it out of you hey!

Hobber, enjoy your St Paddy celebrations. It's huge over here, but I've never really celebrated it for some reason. Not long til your scan :)

ELP, nothing still?

We're off to Phillip Island to see the little fairy penguins. The girls are really excited. I haven't been since I was kid so DH and I are looking forward to it too.

No nothing! And I'm dreading the thoughts of spending another week in the school playground not knowing if my waters will pop in a very embarrassing place lol!!!! Surely it will be tonight won't it!:luck::luck::luck: I've chucked a few shamrocks out there to kick start this St Pat's delivery;)

ELP! Where is that St. Pat's baby?? I wanted DD2 to be a St. Pat's baby too, and I tried EVERYTHING to get her out!! SHe stayed in until the 24th. :sigh: I wasn't due until the 30th, so she was still early. I hope you don't have to wait much longer! Will you be getting induced? Were you late with your other babies?

Well no St Pat's baby here unless something very speedy happens in the next 3 hours lol! Maybe I'll be lucky and have a mothers day (tomorrow) instead:)

The others have been anything from 10 days early to 2 at 10 days late, both of the real late ones were boys lol and the earliest a girl, figures eh:) I haven't even booked another midwife appointment as I was sure that today would have been the day after the sweep on Wednesday, oh well, he must be comfortable:) I have to do another bump picture tomorrrow as I am fasinated as to what this one is going to weigh in at?? I weighed myself yesterday, after lunch but had been to the loo and I had lost weight? bringing total weight gain down to 2lb, which even for me is a bit surprising/worrying. I generally do only add on the babies weight but this fella seems to be draining me? I feel fine, but am drawing in a bit in the face:/ I read that weight loss can be a sign of squashed belly, feeling nauseous again and impending labor, and I can tick all the above:)

5, that sucks that you can't get an early gender scan. I'm still not sure whether we will get one but DH is so impatient so we probably will.

How is everyone else doing?

We had a lovely time seeing the little penguins. It was absolutely freezing as we were watching and waiting for them to come in but well worth it. We walked along the boardwalk and watched them walk along next to it. The girls loved it.

Quick labor story:
Woke Sunday morning with some sharp pains, which seemed to grow as I got up and walked around! Rang hospital and MIL for a lift to hospital. MIL arrived, 11am, everything had completely stopped!! Very embarassing! Then my brother arrived randomly who lives just past the hospital so MIL was allowed home:) Decided to go to my bro's for a cup of tea as my head was spinning at home, and luckily over the next hours things got steady again:agree: He dropped me in about 1pm, met the midwife lovely lady, started G&A at about 2pm with the chart hits in the background and bouncing on the birth ball lol!! All went to plan but still wouldn't wish it on an enemy!!!! And he came out with grade 2 mec in his bag so we had to stay in overnight for obs where his heart dipped a bit but picked back up again so that we was allowed home at about 12 noon today:) Spent the afternoon in bed with all the kids lol, with the curtains shut and door locked!!!

My friends joke that I get PPE instead of PPD... post-partum euphoria :) I really do get ridiculously happy after the birth of a child, even this little GD bundle. I get so overwhelmed at how lucky I am to have a healthy baby that I can't wipe the smile off my face. I was worried I wouldn't feel that way this time but I totally do... healthy little babies are just awesome. Yes I still wish for a DS but I'm grateful for another precious person in our family.

That said, I'm wondering if there's a boarding school for preschoolers? DD2 is an animal :)

Hi everyone. I just got a call from the Dr. about my 12 wk screening, and they said things are good. THe risk for Trisomy18 was something like 1:3000, and the risk for downs was 1:120 (which is good for my age).

I saw what I think was a girl nub at the scan, which really has me down. We were supposed to be team green, so I didn't get a nub shot to post. I am trying to come to terms with having yet another daughter. :(

No. I had a CVS and they asked me if I would like to know the gender when the results came back. I have tried team green before and it made my GD worse in a way, because I actually had hope that it could be a boy. I'm crossing everything I can for you Hobbemittens!

Hobber I'm so glad that bean is looking healthy! FWIW I would NOT trust your nub view; I mean ... you saw what you saw, but really, you were early on right? Also I just worry that your fear might have biased you to see "girl" because you were so nervous about it. Maybe you're right, but there's also a very big MAYBE that you're wrong. FX that there's a little man growing away in there :)

FWIW I so badly wanted to be team green but like you I was just miserable over the not knowing, because I was sure it was a girl and I was crying anyway so ... I figured at least if I was going to be upset about it, I might as well know FOR SURE that it was DD3. Not saying you shouldn't stay team green though. My GD was really, really bad right before her delivery and I was wishing I didn't know, because I was so worried that it was going to ruin the L&D experience for me.

Anyhow ... FX you hear it's a boy whenever you do find out for sure. GD is a nightmare and I'd hate to see you have to go through it again :hugs:

Thanks Begonia. I can only hope that if it is a girl, I can be as happy as you in the end... your update about your baby girl and how happy you are after her birth really made my day.

I know swaying isn't 100%. I knew that going into it. But I had this stupid false sense of security going into it, since I had one son already... I guess there is a chance there could be a boy in there, but I think assuming it is a girl is really the best plan for me. If I get my hopes up, and it really is a girl, then I will just feel worse at the birth.

Flava, the thing that has helped my m/s is to not let myself get hungry, as well as snacking on salty/sugary stuff. Jelly Bellies help a lot, and sour patch kids! And salty chips.

Hi ladies,

I had an MRI scan a few days ago ..which unfortunately showed that my Placenta is still low. Doctors begin to worry about placenta accreta. I'm so very very scared ..She said that the placenta it 'MAY' still move up that's when the baby gets little bigger :(

mfc- I'm a doula and have seen this once(it's very rare). My client had an anterior placenta with placement over the scar. She had no bleeding with it and it was slightly covering the cervix. Her midwife was awesome and positive about it being fine(in 2000 deliveries- many vbac's- she had NEVER seen an accreta). Her placenta did not move until 39 weeks!! It shifted one inch. And then by 40 weeks it moved a teeny bit more- enough for her VBAC attempt. She laboured for 20 hours, pushed for 3 and had her baby:) Her placenta plopped into a bowl beneath her about 10 mins after the birth:) No issues whatsoever.

You should know that anterior placentas move slower up the uterine wall than posterior ones plus they tend to move much more near the end of the pregnancy. To be freaking you out this early...it's not good for you:( They shouldn't even be looking for accreta as it tends to not show up even with an MRI unless it's very bad(which is VERY rare). They should monitor movement but not until your uterus is filled with baby-beyond 35w. Try not to worry so much. Many women gave anterior placentas over top of scars and they don't have a single problem.
The one thing to try is visualization of the placenta- imagine it moving up the uterus:) Plus there's a homeopathic for it as well- I'll see if I can find the name. Do not take vitamin e- it's causes sticky placenta.
Big hugs to you~ I'm sure that your placenta will move and everything will be fine:) xo

thank youe everyone, good news is im still pregnant. i was checked last night and still at 3cm. so no change is good. i did not like the new on-call doctor. she was very rude and said i would be lucky and it would be a blessing if my baby died because right now he is facing a lifetime of mental issues and challenges. of course i know this but to remind me just made it worse. so i went hysterical an she asked me if i was trying to bring on labor??? good news is i told her not to come back and i wanted the other doctor. everyday is a milestone! trying to stay positive.

Thankyou so much! It does make sense. Only my DH, parents, my sister and best friend know what happened. They are the only ones who knew I was pregnant. People know we are TTC which makes it hard because alot of people actually thought I was pregnant when I was. Anyway, life goes on. And I know I will be ok, it might just take a bit of time. Thankyou again :)

Pregnancy is so full of waiting, not only for the baby, but for docs and insurance co....etc.

Not much going on this week. I do have a doc appt on Thursday.....let's see how big I am measuring....lol.
