Mum23 will you be able to have your home birth if you are being induced ?
I had my growth scan on Friday and my little man was 3lb which is the exact average weight that is quoted for his gestational age. He is lying in breach position at the min ( but that could have changed last night as he was very active)
I am getting nervous about the birth though. Last night I had a dream that I had a very short labour at home and had a baby girl in my own bed. But then I panicked because I only had boy clothes and I wouldn't hold her in boy clothes because she was not the son I was expecting. MADNESS

mum23boys- hoping it is just the way babe is lying hate to get on that sizing game as they can be off and leads to a lot of unnecessary inductions
i thought measuring a lil ahead was normal?? what issues did you have birthing a bigger babe? i thought your last was a hb?
Atsaukina1
April 26th, 2013, 10:27 AM
I know there are a very small percent of women who actually have trouble birthing bigger babes but if you have never even been given the chance(induced early) or pushing lying in hossy bed vs- better more upright postions or hands/knees, and other factors that can affect our labor. Hope you get to talk to mw's that are actually for homebirths/natural births. Funny how different it is. Here you have mw's that only do homebirths(no hossy privileges) and your nurse mws that work in hossy under doctors and sometimes also work in birthing centers and small % homebirths too.

Praying4pink - Sorry to hear about your husband's uncle, hope the shower is coming along well and all the other things you have on the go! Hope you're feeling good.
Mum - Don't you always carry big? Were they concerned your previous pregnancies?
As for me: I had my check up today, all is well, she's super impressed with babies size. She originally said we wouldn't have another prenatal appt before my surgery but now she has switched me to weekly appts? Not sure why she changed her mind but oh well. I had to book my pre-op appts too, so I have one on the 6th with my GP and one on the 21st with the hospital. When we see my regular doctor on the 6th for pre-op we are also getting DH a referral to a vasectomy clinic so he get set up his consults etc. and book to have it done the end of June. Ohhh exciting times, next month is going to be a busy one lol. 25 more days!

is he getting his vas. after babe is born? might be easier before so he has some time to relax and heal after and you don't have to take care of him and the kids:)

CVD: why is DH getting a vasectomy when you are having a Caesar? Isn't it easier for both of you to just tie your tubes at the same time? (Since they are in there anyway)

Question: I hope someone can answer this :)
I just did my registering with the hospital and she asked if I had any special requests regarding my c-section, I told her that after the surgery I don't want the baby to have the eye ointment. She told me that's she's 95% sure that it's mandatory. How can that be mandatory?????? It's for STD protection I thought. A) Hudson isn't entering the vaginal canal and B) I've never had an STD in my life. How can they give that to the baby if I don't want them to? I know it's given just as a precaution but we don't want baby to have it. I hope she's just wrong lol. Anyone know more about this?
And thank you Bama Belle! I thought it was time for a change :)

no idea about the eye ointment sorry cvd its not something i've ever heard of babies having, def not something any of my vaginally born babes have had.

Anyone experiencing "nesting" behaviour already? I know it's common to buzz around just before the baby comes getting the house ready and cleaning etc. I've been sorting out the spare room (full of stuff from moving house six months ago) so that I can clear and paint the nursery. Any spare moment I've been popping in and doing some more sorting. So funny!

Here in America they routinely give it to babes but you can sign a form against it. Having a hb I don;t have to deal with any of that but it is pretty easy(most of the time) in hossys to tell them no. make usre you have it in your hossy paperwork. maybe make a sign or have hub remind them when babe is born or right before. just need to watch them as they are so used to doing it might forget.

Kk thanks atsaukina! DS1 had it, i didnt know anything about it. She did mention I'd have to sign a consent form which is fine. Her saying she thinks its mandatory really ticked me lol

@CVD-My midwife explained to me that the eye ointment law is an outdated law from wartimes when men were constantly bringing home STD's to their unknowing wives and plenty of babies were going blind. Of course, nowadays, this ointment is far less necessary and should probably be made optional but it's not. In hospitals, they just include the ointment as part of routine care. A parent has to make some noise and clearly state that they do not want it administered to avoid it.

That's so interesting, I didn't know that! I definitely made some noise during my registration but I have told DH that when Hudson is on his way out to tell them 20 times not to do it hehe. She must have been mistaken when she said "mandatory". Phew!!!!

That'S brilliant news 3boys. Am thrilled for you. I am sure everything will go great this time and hopefully there is a little girl growing in there for you!

How is everyone feeling???
I'm EXHAUSTED. We are just finishing renos on our rental unit, finally. This last month I truly know what it's like to be a single mother.
I'm also having a hard time with DS, I just have no energy to play with him. I feel so guilty. He entertains himself well but I wish I could do more. I find I'm relying on tv at points throughout the day to occupy him too which I don't want him to get used to. Thank goodness this apartment will be done this weekend and that DH has 5 weeks off for Hudson's arrival, DS1 is going to be his main focus.
3 weeks left - I'm sooo ready lol!

Yep cvd I have been so exhausted!!! It had just been a crazy past 2 weeks. I usually don't have energy to play with my son with the pregnancy and the anemia but I really try hard to keep him occupied with things other than tv like you said. Sometimes I just let him go in his cars room/music room and play his drum set or his cars while I lay on the floor, lol. Not too much longer hun!

CVD its your birth month already.:cheerteam:
I know how you feel with the tiredness though. It seems that DD is acting up more then normal ( or maybe I just have less energy interact with her and she is getting board)
You are so lucky with your DH getting 5 weeks off. Mine will be lucky to have a full week off as they have recently taken on a new contract which means way more work for him plus they are implementing a new computer system in June :( . But luckly I have my parents who are retired early, a sister in law who is a teacher who will be off work for 2 months from the start of July and 2 younger sisters who are in Uni so will be off all summer too.

Hey :-) my emergency c section with number 1 he was 7lb 15 but they told me ds 3 would be 9lb 6 and I took no notice and still had my homebirth and he was only 7lb10 so I take absolutely no notice of what they though part of ne thinks 3 weeks early would be nice I know from previous experience not to mess with Mother Nature unless necessary plus I really want another home birth and oddly although measuring big this is my smallest bump by far

No fish the baby won't get a gift when she is born. Here we do everything before the baby is born but. No worries I'm a bit OCD so I have already put that round of gifts away. Yes there's more, lol. The people who didn't make it to the shower are giving me gifts also so it is all very exciting!

We are definitely really lucky DH can take the 5 weeks off, his work was so good about it. It's called parental leave here so he gets partial pay through the government which is nice. He could take more time but the partial pay isn't enough lol. With recovering from the c-section, a newborn and a 2 year old - I will need him!!!!

I'm so excited for you, CVD. It's been a bit quiet in here but, 19 days from now, the board will be full of the word *stalking* or *waiting for news on Hudson*....we'll all be glued to our screens waiting for news of his safe arrival. Of course, you may need a few days to recover before you update us all!

LOL Jadis I feel the same way. I actually have to buy some Dreft so that I can start washing all of my newborn and 0-3 month clothes. AHHHHH! You have 47 days left and I have 48. I did a "Guess Joelle's Birthday Card" at the baby shower so I am very interested to see who guessed right. Mostly, everyone I know is saying I am going to have her a week or two early. We shall see. oh she is such a cutie and she looks just like a real baby (not that she's not real but she looks like a newborn if you know what i mean its weird to think they are that developed in there)
i feel such a lot of movements now i always wondered what they get up to, what a lovely sneak peak. I fancied a 3d scan but i have an nhs one to check placenta on the 14th anyway and it is a lot of money when babe needs such a lot of stuff anyway.
ps be funny to see if we can recognise her when she's born, maybe you could post a pic of her then and the scan for comparison see how much she changes in that time x

ok so all this talk of dates has got me spooked, i spent the afternoon in the loft, which although i was putting it off i'm glad i did as with the horrid spd i barely made it up there, would have really struggled in a few more weeks.
Although its sparked off a mammoth task as our loft is FULL with clothes of various sizes which all need sorting out ready for the boys to wear or getting rid of.
Still seems a bit weird to think the baby is a girl will hang onto all of my little boy clothes just in case at my scan on the 14th 'she' has grown a willy.
Was so lovely going through the boys old stuff though reminded me just how little they are and how much they have grown, can't believe my eldest is 8 and nearly as big as me now seems like 5 mins ago i was meeting him for the first time.

I know what you mean, Mrs.P. Feels like I blinked and my DS1 is suddenly 5. I felt a bit sad getting rid of some of my favourite boys clothes, but replacing them with dresses eased the sting a bit. I've got piles of baby clothes to wash, sort and put away but I've been waiting on my DH to install a closet organization system into her room. It'll be done tomorrow, so I'll spend the day getting her clothes washed and hung up. I think I'll paint her chest of drawers this week, I'll post photos :)

Oh my goodness - I think Hudson has been attempting or is getting prepared to drop. Yesterday and today he has been really putting a lot of pressure down there. I had to sit, it totally took my breath away!!!! Every now and then I run to the mirror to check if my tummy has changed, it seems to look the same to me, but he's definitely working on it!

cvd - thanks! She was being quite the actress in there. And yes the pressure is becoming pretty bad for me too and you are further along than I am. I really think this little girl is going to come earlier than June 20th. We shall see...
Mrs. P - LOL about your comment, "she looks like a real baby". Love it! And yes I will be happy to post comparison pictures once she is born. Honestly, I had the 3D done with my son and to me he came out looking nothing like I expected, lol. Cute as a button but nothing like the 3D pics. And Baby P is NOT going to grow a willy, lmbo!
So my co worker who was six weeks ahead of me just delivered her baby this morning. I can't believe her pregnancy is over and that she is holding her little boy already. I am going to go see her tomorrow after work and I am so excited. I know holding him is going to make me want Joelle to come out!
OAN: Coach Factory Outlet had a Mother's Day Sale and the baby bags were 50% off! This is the one I ended up getting.

Hey ladies, hope everyone is doing well! Everyone must be really busy getting things ready :)
I'm looking forward to Monday when I am 37 weeks, it's a relief to know Hudson is then technically considered "full term", only 11 more sleeps for him to keep hanging out and plumping up! Can't believe I'll be holding my babe so soon!

Happy Mother's Day from Canada! I finally sorted and washed all my baby clothes. They're hanging in all their sweet-smelling glory in her closet, waiting for her. It's hard to believe that next Mother's Day, I'll have 3 goons to gush over me.

Hi ladies!
Just checking in...
I have 4 weeks to go until I am either induced or get a c sect.. I still have scans fortnightly and growth is normal which I am so relieved about.
I have not weighed myself recently, but am feeling sore and heavy. I can't walk far, and cramp constantly. Everything is such an effort!
We are nearly ready for their arrival - room ready, new car coming this week, buggy, capsules etc purchased.. We have seriously spent a fortune.. Ugh.
Can't wait to meet them!
Hope everyone is good! XX

Hi everyone!
Thought I should check in too. I've been swamped here with kids with chicken pox, various gastro bugs and my stupid SPD meaning I can't even walk 5 minutes to school without being in loads of pain. Still at least I'll have a beautiful baby to show for it :) fingers crossed they will all stay well now till the end!
CVD - it's getting so near now. I'm so excited for you. My little boy is 4 on Saturday. May is a fab month to have a baby!
Maple- you're getting so close too. Can't believe where the time is going. Hope it's not too uncomfortable for you. Good luck!
Hope everyone else is doing well!

CVD - OMG I can't believe you only have 11 days left. I am so excited for you honey. I can't wait to see pictures of baby Hudson. He is going to be so adorable! And I too am excited about using your fancy new diaper bags, lol.
Jadis - I need to wash and sort too but I am procrastinating because she has so many clothes. When I started thinking about all that I had to wash - clothes, onesies, socks, bibs, burp cloths, sheets, blankets...Oh my! I am getting overwhelmed again, lol. We only have about 5 weeks to to honey! So excited!!!
Maple - I so hear you about the heaviness and I am only having one babe. I feel like her head is about to just pop right out from down below. I am having so much pressure and the BH contractions have not eased up even though I did increase my water intake. I have a ton a day and they are pretty intense. Not too much longer for either of us though :)
AFM: I am just trying to get everything ready to go. My bag has already been packed for a while. My son's bag is packed (to go to meme's house), my husband is slacking and his bag is not yet packed even though I keep reminding him, lol. All her gear has been purchased and let me tell you, babies are expensive! I don't even want to divulge how much I spent on her and that was even after the baby shower. She is my princess though so she is worth it! Well ladies we must keep on trucking and we will be at the finish line before we know it.

I'm glad to hear everyone is doing good. I just went to the doctor yesterday and everything looks great. They have officially moved my due date to June 28 after going back and forth a little between then and July 2. He did say that once I get past the next 2 weeks and hit the 36 week mark he won't do anything to stop labor once it starts so maybe I'm not doomed to have a 10 pounder after all.
Has anyone ever taken evening primrose oil? I was thinking about trying it after I hit 36 weeks to help soften the cervix but I wasn't sure if it was a good idea so I thought I would ask if anyone had any experience with it.

I'm on facebook, CVD! I'll pm you with my actual real life name with 2 conditions ;)First, no one knows that I've spent time on gender swaying sites and I'd wanna keep it that way. Secondly, I've spilled my baby's name here (Maggie) but no one else in my life is in the loop. I want to keep it secret till she's here, I'd like to unveil her name as part of our birth announcement. Yep I have a FB. It will be nice for us all to KIT. Whoa cvd I didn't realize it was eight days away. Holy cow honey this is super exciting!!! I have not worn my wedding rings in a few months now. My feet did pretty good this go round but my hands started to swell early. My feet looked like blimps by this time when I was pregnant with my son. I remember my baby shower pictures from then and my feet were huge. They were actually scared I had PE but I didn't...just retained a lot of water.

I don't think that evening primrose oil is used to induce labor. I think it just works to help soften the cervix in preparation for labor similar to the same affects of semen but I'm not exactly sure. I certainly don't want to induce labor so I guess I better read up on it a little more.

I haven't tried it but I am going to give it a go this time around as last time my cervix didn't start to soften until I was in labour. I know this because my OB said that my cervix was very unfavourable for labour and he expected me to go at least a week overdue on my due date. The day before my labour started and I had a very long early labour as a result.
I doesn't cause you to go into labour. I don't really believe that any of these home remedies do unless you are ready to go anyway.
I have also read a study that said eating 7 dates per day from 36 weeks leads to an easier labour. I figure it wouldn't hurt to give that one a go too. It would just be a tasty snack if it does nothing so win/win situation.

after looking into it sounds like that's what they use it for just to get cervix ready. if you have a history of long labors or stalling out might be a good option for you :)

Yes!!! Nerves haven't even set in yet, I thought they would by now.
I had my very last prenatal appt this morning before surgery! All looked well except my blood pressure was a bit high, my ob is going away this weekend so she told me to really relax, no stress till surgery! Which is tough as we are going through MONSTER-IN-LAW drama!!!!!! My MIL is mad at us because my parents are taking Ryder for 2 days so Jared can stay with me at the hospital. She thinks that's incredibly wrong and neglectful. It's only 2 days..... We've left Ryder for a week before when we went to Mexico??? He will be fine. And he will still be seeing us through those days! She's also upset DH is taking 5 weeks off. She feels that after my c-section I should pretty much be able to walk out of the hospital. She doesn't seem to realize its major surgery (she has even had a csection too!!) Anyway. I'm trying to forget it, ignore her.. I'm not her daughter and although she is entitled to an opinion, being "mad" and yelling at us doesn't affect our decision of how we have planned to do things, just really makes her look silly and things really uncomfortable.
Phew rant over. LOL. So for the long one! She drives me up the wall.

May 16th, 2013, 12:45 PM
wow, CVD-your MIL needs to take a deep breath and a big step back. This is yourfamily and how you and Jared plan to manage a csection and a new baby is none of her business! I swear I'll never be that kind of Mother-in-law! I'd never want my daughter in law to feel the way you do, I'd want her to know that I support her and that's that. She really needs to simmer down.

Cvd that's crazy! I am leaving my son with my mom while I am in the hospital. I don't think it is neglectful at all. I mean it doesn't mean you love Ryder any less you just need time to recover and your husband is a big part of that process also. Heck everyone I know for the most part leaves their other children with someone while they are delivering. Not all bit most. Sorry about the drama dear :-(

Hi ladies. I have been MIA the past few days. First my granny passed away then my DD who had developmental dysphasia of her left hip got called on a cancellation date for her operation. ( if we didn't do it now it would be some time in August) so we thought it best to get it over and done with while the little man is much easier to manage in my belly. She is back home now and won't be able to walk for about 2 weeks but she is in good spirits. We have our days planned out with play doh, colouring, dvd's and short walks out in the buggy, jigsaws and visitors calling over.
Best of luck this week CVD if I don't get a chance to log in again. Hopefully everyone else is doing ok

Yes ladies I too am trying to nest but alas this back and hip pain is not allowing me to cope either  I have at least washed all her newborn and 0-3 onesies (haven't even touched the actual outfits yet), sleepers and gowns, receiving blankets, burp cloths, hats, hand mittens, socks, and all of the padding on her swing, rocker, and bassinet. Her room is coming along but she will be rooming with us for the first 5 months so there is no dire rush with that. Other than that I am just getting the bedrooms cleaned up and just getting the house disinfected and cleaned, lol.

Aw cvd have been thinking of you hunny, bet its really nerve wracking just before knowing exactly when they are going to come. I really hope all goes smoothly for you both and ryder copes ok with sharing mummy. Can't wait for your update x
Praying - not very well i am about the same as you - although not washed anything. Still got lots to get too (like a mattress for the moses basket and cot) on the other side though i still have at least 4 weeks even if they take me in early. I also have two uni assignments to do and my brain has turned to mush - which is my bigger problem, especially now i have been threatened with a section and everything is up in the air i can't seem to think about anything else but the baby.
I did have so many decorating plans and wanted to do all the boys rooms and our room before she arrived as you can't paint around little ones but with the back pain and spd i can barely walk let alone climb a ladder to decorate - still never mind i'm sure if worst comes to worst it will all still be there in 6 months or so.
Anyone any ideas what i should expect if i have a section - how immobile i am likely to be and for how long?

I hear you on that Mrs. P! I am in an accelerated class now and I have one assignment every week. My poor teacher has been getting them late every week but she has been so nice about everything. I only have 3 left to complete but so afraid she will come before I have a chance to complete the class which becomes more complex because university doesn't offer incomplete grades any longer.
I haven't had a section but all three of my co workers have. Basically you will not be able to lift anything other than the baby for about 8 weeks is what I am told. Everyone heals differently. Not to scare you but one of my co workers did something around the house (very light) and ended up with a open section wound so you do have to be careful.

Sorry to hear about your Granny Pearl and really hope all goes well with your daughter!
Mum23- that's awful news about your dad....really hope he can get the required treatment and then make a prompt recovery. It's a lot to handle being pregnant and 3 other kids to mind too.
I have had two sections and really you are out of sorts for the first two weeks. I was fitter after the second, but then the birth before was shorter. My first birth was over 12 hrs and the c section ended being full anesthetic so I was really knocked for 6 after all that. But you do need to give yourself 2 weeks of taking it relatively easy...as easy as you can with 3 other kids running around the house. Think I stopped the pain killers after 3 days with the second. Will be facing another in 5 weeks hoping to get the date tomorrow from the surgeon in the hospital. I have vicious sciatica but it comes and goes now...I heard that spd business is really very nasty. But at least you know the end is near (enough!) and then it will be all worth it when you hold your daughter!

Hi everyone!!! Just popping on - Hudson Aubrey Van Dorp was born at 8:46am. He's so precious. Weighed 7lbs 14oz which is EXACTLY what Ryder weighed! Nursed like a champ for the first time and has been napping since! Surgery went fantastic, I'll be getting out of bed this afternoon says the nurse. Everything has been great. So glad he's here and is healthy as can be. I just love him so much!

mines still feeling a bit up in air to be honest - i could be just under 4 weeks away (if i have a section at 39 weeks - 18/06) or i could be at most 7 weeks away if my placenta moves, i stay natural and go late - feels like a life time
BUT on the other hand its 9 days til June and we're up next - how exciting roll on June (the babies seem to have gone awol in the other group - we need some more newborns!)

As far as being prepared for this baby's arrival. We are not ready at all yet. Our bedroom is torn apart because we started remodeling it about a month ago and are not finished yet, but hopefully it will be done within the next couple of weeks. We still have to prepare the bedroom downstairs for our oldest boy which will involve clearing out the room, ripping up the carpet, painting, sewing curtains and putting in new carpet. We are also going to recarpet the living room so we will have to rip out that carpet. I have washed some of the clothes with a stain remover but I will need to rewash them again because it has been a few months and I was really just trying to get the stains out. We have purchased some new clothes for this baby and they all need to be washed as well. I do have a pack of diapers and a stroller now so I guess I am ahead of where I was a few weeks ago though. My plan for the upcoming holiday weekend is to finish up my shopping for a carseat, swing, etc and get all of the clothes washed as well prepping all of the cloth diapers and maybe if I can manage to gain control of our monsterous laundry pile in the living room we can set up the bassinet in there. I also want to have my older 3 boys pack their overnight bags so they are ready.
On a positive note though I do feel way more prepared mentally for this baby then I have with any of the other 3 so if everything doesn't get finished in time I'm sure it will be fine and will work out rather than being frazzled and stressed like I was at the end with the last two pregnancies.

Mrs P - the first 2-3 weeks were very hard on me the first time. Never really left my bed or the couch unless I had to. I'm not sure how I'd manage without DH being off for 5 weeks this time, Ryder still relies on us for just about everything. As mentioned your not really supposed to lift more then baby for about 6-8 weeks which is tough when there are other kiddies to take care of of course! Hope you don't have to have an unwanted section!!

We are still having a lot of trouble coming up with a name. The only thing we even like at all at this point is Owen Michael but our last name is Gardner so I'm really struggling with it because his initials would be OMG. What do you all think about that? I really don't want him to be made fun of as he gets older but we have given each our our boys a middle name after someone in our family and we are running out of family members between all of the boys that have been born between both of our families.

I like the name Owen Michael. If we had a boy it was going to be Owen or Eoin(Irish spelling). We were thinking Thomas as a middle name.

Hudson now weighs 7lbs 10oz (left the hospital at 7lbs 4oz). All looks well. He has a little bit of jaundice being a bit early but it's normal she said. She sounded concerned about his feeding though.. cause he only nurses about 10 mins every 2-3 hours. That's how DS1 nursed. I thought 6oz gained in 6 days sounded ok - I just have boys who eat efficiently lol! I have to go back next Wednesday to make sure he's reached his birth weight (again, she seems so concerned, I think he's doing fine, he's only 4oz away).

Mine only ever nursed for 10 mins every 2-3 hours to, i had a good let down and a fast milk supply as long as he seems content he's doing fine. I just had mine done two Friday's ago. Still waiting for the results though. They said a week but I called on Friday (after they cancelled my appointment) and they had not gotten the results yet. I really hope I don't have to get the antibiotics this time because then I can simply get a hep lock instead of the actual iv line. That was a super pain trucking that drip every time I wanted to go to the restroom or move through my contractions.

Mrs. P I would like to know if your babies had any problems as far as gas or reflux or colic because of your let down? I am only asking because my first attempt at bf'ing my son was an epic fail so I am trying to get as much information as possible this go round. I have heard that fast let downs can cause a baby discomfort or gas so I was just wondering. Also, when I pumped for my son...man my milk was flying out like crazy so maybe that accounted for him not wanting to breastfeed? Just curious is all. :kissy:

cvd Hudson looks like he is doing great! I'm no expert on the bf'ing so I can't help there but he looks healthy to me. I think as long as he is gaining appropriately and he seems satisfied then it should be fine. I just went to a bf'ing class and the LC there said it may take up to three weeks for them to get back to their birth weight and/or surpass it. Again, I am def no expert but just thought I would share.

No not really, my first had a lot of feeding problems but that was more due to his special needs (looking back he struggled even then with the breathe suck swallow rhythm) but thats how i ended up with such a good milk supply, i expressed every few hours with a hospital grade pump and ended up producing 60oz a day (i felt like a cow!). With the other two it came back just as strong and as much but it was so much easier. Neither ds2 or ds3 had reflux or anything and i never really got much gas out of any of them either, none of them were sicky babies either.
From memory ds3 struggled a little at first and would pull off looking a bit shocked and end up covering himself in the milk before he'd try again. I would definitely try it with an open mind, i was adamant after the problems i had with my first i wouldn't feed my second but he took to it like a duck to water and it was so easy.
It does make sense though that a fast supply could cause gas but i'm not sure there is anything you can do to slow it down

I just got back from the Dr. and I'm not dilated yet:( but he did do a quick ultrasound to make sure the baby was head down because the heartbeat was up so high and he wanted to make sure. The head is down:) but just up really high still. I told him that I wouldn't be sad if the baby had turned into a girl so he checked and said that if I hadn't told him it was boy he would have said he didn't know because he wasn't sure and what he thought might be boy parts looked more like the cord. I told him that I am going to buy boy stuff because it appeared pretty obvious in the last ultrasound and I would rather waste my money buying a few boys things and get pleasantly surprised then be sad again if I got my hopes up for a girl. But I can't help being a little excited that maybe there is some hope.

Praying- I didn't even know that they would do a hep lock until this pregnancy and I am definetly going to see if I can have one too. My labors are really quick and I hate being tied to that stupid IV pole and it seems like it takes FOREVER to get them to take it out afterwards. They did induce me before so I guess they would have had to give me one, but I'm going to see if they will try just breaking my water this time if it comes to that those if things get going on their own without pitocin.

Thanks for the reassurance mrs p! I was the same way as you with DS1 and he's never had a weight problem so I didn't see her concerns. I had to laugh at your comment about DS3 pulling away looking shocked and getting covered. I remember that happening too!
Praying - I went to lactation consultants and everything because I honestly thought I was drowning DS1 with my let down etc lol he adjusted after a little bit. We did notice a bit of gas issue in the beginning but it went away, we played with his legs to help him. I hope nursing goes smoothly for you this time! I get a lot of pain in the beginning because BOTH these boys are just rough eaters (again, I seen numerous people the first time thinking it was a latch issue but nope, he just ate hard and I'm sensitive lol!) but just keep on trucking! I hope it works out :)

It does seen like it takes forever to get them to take it out!!! Obviously mine was in long cause of the surgery but after it wasn't necessary anymore I had to pretty much bargain with my nurse to get it out. Glad baby is head down and I hope you get your pleasant surprise! Not long now!

Same here! My first was an induction after water bag broke so I had no choice. But with this one I am really hoping my labor starts on its own. It would be pretty ironic if my water broke again and I had to be induced again. But I was excited about the possibility of a hep lock and they actually mentioned it at my L&D class at the hospital so I know they will do one for me unless I need another intervention (pitocin or antibiotics for group B). I also want to be able to labor in the tub for a bit so having the hep lock would help.
I have had them check at every single u/s i have had which all together totaled 4 and every time she was still a she, lol. I do have some hope for you though. But I agree that you can buy the boy stuff and then if it turns out to be a girl just do an exchange. And that my dear would be one pleasant and exciting exchange!!

I have to go back next Wednesday to make sure he's reached his birth weight (again, she seems so concerned, I think he's doing fine, he's only 4oz away).
I agree with everyone else. He sounds like he's doing great. That's how my boys did it and I too was told I had fast milk and they had a powerful suck! They never needed more than 10 minutes.

Hi everyone! I have been having computer issues and am on my phone.
Congrats on the arrival of Hudson Cvd! He is adorable!!
Glad to hear everyone else is doing quite well. It's getting exciting. 8 weeks to go for me. Can't wait to meet my little girl but happy that she is safely growing inside me and putting on that gorgeous chub that will make her all squishy and adorable at birth.

Hi ladies,
Well after a day of vomiting and diarrhoea on Friday, I was hospitalised that afternoon as I was very dehydrated and needed IV fluids. My temp wouldn't go down and I ended up needing antibiotics, steroids, lots of blood tests etc.
The twins heart rates were really high and I ended up going into labour. The contractions were getting uncomfortable, but after 2 hrs my meds kicked in and the contractions fizzled out.
Physically I was in no good condition to deliver twins, so it was lucky!
On the other hand I was psyching myself up for the birth, as we all thought it was imminent. So am slightly disappointed?
I'm home now and have swollen up from the fluid. Yucky! Feeling much better however.
I have a specialist appointment this Wed, and will get a date for my induction, which will most likely be the week after.
In the meantime my twins can grow a little more : )
How is everyone else??

Wow Bama. I could be between you and Maple as to who is the next one holding their babies. I have exactly 5 weeks left and while I cannot wait to meet the new man in my life I definitely want him to stay put for the next 3 weeks.
At my appointment last week the head was still partially engaged. Same as it has been since week 30 and bubs in in the best possible position for labour. But the worst one for photographs. So I have had the last of my scan pics too. The only thing you could see was the spine and back of the head. There weren't even hands or feet visible. But this gives me real hope that my VBAC will be successful.

Hi Ladies...Phew I have had a busy few weeks, lol.
Maple sorry to hear about your illness but so glad you came out ok and that the babies are still cooking. Keep em in there as long as you can hun. Regardless, you have done an outstanding job so far!
CVD that picture of Hudson is just plain adorable! He is just the cutest thing ever. I just want to go "Nom Nom Nom" on those cheeks, lol. Love it!
Bama whoa! Very interesting about the contractions darling. Were you early with your DD? I actually had something similar happen to me but didn't end up going to the hospital. You may be having that baby real soon darling.
Pearl you are certainly getting close dear. I would like to know if Joelle's head is engaged but my last scan was at 33 weeks so I doubt she was at that time. It certainly feels like it though, lol. Hang in there.
AFM: Well last Thursday at 2:30 in the morning I started having contractions. I knew I wasn't really in labor because there was no real pattern to them and I had no other labor signs. They lasted for about 10 hours though. The doctor said I might have been dehydrated and/or my body is just gearing up for the real thing. She said next time I might be delivering a baby.
I had a great birthday dinner at Olive Garden on Saturday. Everyone in the restaurant was looking at me like I was going to pop in the restaurant, lol. I kept saying...no worries I have two weeks left.
And in other positive news...I have had no weight gain in the past two weeks which is great for me considering I have gained a total of 50 pounds with this girl. Oh yeah and I tested negative for Group B so that means I can possibly have the hep lock rather than an IV IF I go into labor on my own this time around. We shall see...

I've been having contractions that are irregular but mildly crampy for a couple of weeks now. Sometimes, they're really uncomfortable but I know they aren't the real deal. It's exciting to think that my body is getting ready! I don't know about you guys, but I'm having these crazy knifing pains deep inside me. I think those pains are making some changes to my cervix. Yes this thread is getting exciting! I can't wait until all the exciting news starts pouring in. I only have 16 days left until my due date...EEEEEEK! Hoping I can relax after this week since my class is over and I won't be taking another until September sometime. Having a touch of apprehension about breastfeeding this go round. I hope I can manage to be successful. I just need a little more support from the LC I think...I didn't get one with my last birth.
In other news...I took my son to the doctor today because he had a slight fever last night and was complaining about his face hurting. Last time it was an ear infection. Well the NP swabbed his little throat so hard he started coughing blood. Talk about freaked out! That was the straw that broke the camels back so I am in the process of switching doctors now. Poor fella

Maple that is so exciting. Only 5 more sleeps until you meet your girls.
P4P I hope your little boy recovers soon and that you don't catch it.
Mrs P delighted to hear your girl hasn't grown a willy and that you will be able to have your water birth. I still have doubts as to weather my little man will still be a boy at delivery too. But I think that is only natural when we invested so much time and energy and planning into the gender of our babies before the pregnancy even began that it is hard to believe we get our DG.
I am getting a lot of crampy pains down low in the evenings so I hope my cervix is starting to soften. I started taking the EPO last week to help with that.

Jadis - Nope! After all of that he didn't have strep nor an ear infection. He is doing just fine today. I am also sick and maybe he was trying to fight that off. He only had fever that one night so...I think it was just his body trying to fight something off. Yeah I didn't get over my illness the first go round and then I went to get my hair done last Friday and caught chill. Now I am sick again and this time it is much worse. I have just been doping up on vitamin C. The doctor's said no way to really kick it...just making the symptoms more bearable :hair:. I would think decaf green tea, lemon, honey, OJ, stuff like that.

Pearl I heard about EPO and Red Raspberry Leaf Tea. I almost did the tea for these last few weeks but I was never in a store that sold it. I know the Vitamin Shoppes here sell it but I didn't live near one and I was too lazy to drive to get it, lol.
AFM: The anticipation is killing me! I was never this anxious with my first even though I was more insecure with him. It doesn't help that I am SUPER huge and everyone is saying I won't make it to my due date. Truth is...I hope I don't but I probably will with my luck. 38 weeks tomorrow so I am completely comfortable having her at this point. I kind of feel like she might come this weekend but I know she will come when she is ready. Also wondering if I will go into labor naturally or if my water will break and I won't go into labor at all. So many variables

Mrs. P - I know that the RRL tea is herbal so no caffeine or known side effects. EPO is also said to be safe but I have read some other negative things about it that may contradict it. Personally, I think both are fine. I asked my doctor about the RRL tea and she said she personally had not heard anything good or bad about it which I find odd because there are three midwives in that practice. The only other thing is that you would need to pretty much start today because it needs time to work.

Falling so sorry to hear about the food poisoning. That is certainly NOT COOL! Especially when your are preggers. Ugh I hope everyone feels better soon.
Jadis yes craptacular is definitely the word for it. I agree with you on the getting better part because frankly I don't have the energy to do anything now not to mention laboring with this awful bug. Plus it is hurricane season here in Florida so it stormed this morning and I got soaked. It is certainly not looking favorable for me. I need some big time rest and relaxation before this baby comes. Hope you also start feeling much better.

With my second my waters went and i was checked and told to go home everything was shut tight, day later and i went in to be checked again (no contractions) but i was 3cm and they were going to induce me with it being over 24 hours but i started to labor naturally whilst waiting for a bed and he was born a few hours later, really quick!
On the other hand some women walk around partly dilated for ages before they deliver - not sure which news would be more annoying - no progress or progress that doesn't really mean anything anyway. Joelle will come when she is ready, you've waited years for her another week or two is nothing in comparison and as annoying as it is, the wait is almost over and she will be worth it!

P2P I had a cervical check on DD the day before my due date and I was closed tight with no signs of labour being imminent. I went into labour less than 30 hours later. My early labour was very slow though

Hi ladies so sorry I haven't posted recently and probably won't but my dad got taken ill then my eldest was hospitalised for 5 days with breathing issues relayed to his asthma then we were due a week in Spain cut short by my dad taking a turn downhill and sadly dying just before I got to him . I'm in turmoil right now. On a brighter side I get to see bub next week as I'm measuring 5 weeks too big for my dates so they want to check baby . Hopefully it's just water retention.
That's rough hun. Big hugs x

Sorry to hear about your Dad Mum23. Hope you are okay.
Maple, that's incredible that your babies are still on board with you being 6cms dilated. Very exciting that your little ones will be here soon.
Jadis and P4P, hope your girls feel better soon. Totally agree that would be a huge benefit to get better first so that you have all your energy to birth your babies and enjoy them.
We are doing well here. I never thought I'd say it but I'm enjoying this last part of this pregnancy and excited that my little one is just getting those final touches now. Happy for her to pick her birthdate. I've got an excellent labour doula and hubby for support so feeling really positive about the upcoming birth. Also doing so relaxation techniques, meditation and breathing practice so that hopefully labour will be a little easier and less painful. Can't hurt to try right?

Aww thanks ladies! I know it doesn't mean anything either way. I guess I am just fearing another long labor with induction and threatening of a cs. I don't really mind her staying in...it's the long and difficult labor I am starting to fear :-(
I did blow up my birthing ball and started to sit on that just to get her in the most optimal position for when she does decide to come out. I'm so anxious to meet her!

Sorry just need to have a quick vent - I am feeling like I just can't catch a friggen break!!!!
Just as I was feeling a lot better after my csection (and from my cracked nipples from Hudson nursing so aggressively), I got a terrible pain in my butt - literally lol (bad hemorrhoid from all the sitting during recovery), and finally it is feeling so much better so of course today I TRIP on my driveway as I was coming in from a walk with Hudson - my knee is so bruised, swollen and cut. It hurts to walk. It's like pain just doesn't want to leave me alone!!!!! Just as one thing feels better something else comes up. On the other hand though - I am feeling rather lucky that A) Hudson was still in the stroller so he didn't come on the fall with me and B) that my incision is as healed as it is, thank goodness the fall didn't create problems with that. Oh boo. Now to wait for something else to heal. :(

Aww man Cvd sometimes it is like that I suppose. Seems like one thing after another after another. So glad Hudson wasn't involved in the tumble but sorry your knee got all scraped up :-(. Wishing you a speedy healing and praying that no more accidents come your way!

It's tough enough being very pregnant without these other stresses. Sorry to hear of the troubles people are having. It's hard then to focus on the positives. I'm jealous of those of you who get to meet your little ones so soon as I've still ages to go! I'm busy painting the nursery and have dug out all the baby bits except the clothes. Only main problem is we've still no name! I just started a thread in the Due June July August group pleading for help so if you have a minute please tell me which names you like best. Good luck for those who are imminent! X

OMG have your ladies seen the gorgeous pics the girls from the previous due date group the girls have posted - making me really broody. Uni work is going well so another week or so and i should be getting ready to meet my little girl (my first deadline is 5 days before my due date so should keep me occupied for a while! - still can't believe i'm going to have a baby, this time round it just feels so surreal, sometimes its like i walk past a mirror and oh yeah i forgot about that!).
Any way enough waffling, am pretty much stalking for a Maple update (although yes i realise it could be a while - its just sooo exciting!). In fact we have a few mamas due soon so the girls could well be start of a baby boom! (Gives me a good excuse to stray from the uni work too!)

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing fine. Just wanted to update...our little bundle of joy has finally arrived, a little earlier than expected...Our baby boy was born on Friday 31st May 2013, we are so blessed :) He's doing fine and I'm so completely in love with him. Just can't take my arms and eyes from him. Delivery was much easier than with my first son and it took him only a few minutes to come into this world and meet mum and dad.
I hope you all girls have a wonderful birth experience and you get to hold your little angels in your arms soon...it's such a bliss to be holding our little and so much loved babies. Good luck to everyone and enjoy the precious moments when your babies arrive :)
