My daughter is here!!!!
Layla Sage
July 11, 2013 @ 7:38 am
7 lbs 6oz 19 inches long
She was born at 36 weeks exactly.
32 1/2 hours of labor, 24 of those natural (not by choice!) and she was delivered by the nurse with one small push. It happened so fast... She's healthy aside from jaundice and some feeding issues but personally I think the feeding issues is all the damn nurses coming in and trying to make me supplement and gas. Hopefully her and I will get to go home tomorrow.
I will post a pic when we are home. Thank you Atomic and everyone for all the support. My dream has come true and my family is complete.

Jadis she is gorgeous. I love all the hair.
I am 1 week on from delivery today and I am still on a high. I weighed myself this morning and I only have 3lb of baby weight left to lose ( plus a lot of stomach toning) and I did the jeans test. My fat jeans fit and I am wearing them today 😀. I still have a little bit of tummy shrinkage to go before my normal jeans will close.
My little man is doing great he is feeding and sleeping well and because he is so long he is nearly the length of his 0-3 month sleep suits already. He was 57cm. He has already but on 4lb since birth putting him at 9lb 3oz

As for us:
Hudson is 8 weeks old tomorrow (he'll be getting his needles on Monday :(), and weighs about 14lbs! He's a great sleeper - only wakes up once a night to nurse then goes right back to sleep. We're going to be moving him from the bassinet in our room to his own crib shortly as he's getting too cramped in there lol. Are any your DH's going for vasectomy if you're done with babies? Mine has his book for August 26th.
Hope all the mamas and babes are doing great and that more babies are on their way.
PS: Praying4Pink - haven't heard from you lately!! If you read this, how are you and Joelle doing?? How did nursing go? I know you were feeling a bit nervous about that!

Neat!!! I just read it, thanks :) so you weren't in the room while they did it? I wasn't sure if they allowed it, not sure I'd wanna be in there anyway lol!
We are also young, I don't have the health concerns you do but this is what we both want. We are getting avlot of flack from people for doing it but we're happy with our 2 boys. DH isn't even telling his parents, his mom would probably kill him because she believes in big families. I'm an only child, I wanted our first to have a sibling but 3 would just be too much for me. No one seems to really understand lol anyway, now that I've got off on a rant hahah thanks again for posting that!

We always said we'd have 4 then hubby would get snipped but he wanted it at 3 and I persuaded him not to ..... I just don't like to think think that that's it - I'm worried I'd change my mind in 5 years time . Never say never is when people ask about more children. Though its hubby bits and if he really wants it done ill support him since we did always agree on just the 4 :-)

We don't have any family or trustworthy support networks here so for us three is all we can handle. And actually two probably would have been better. We will have three under three so this really is it for us and we are perfectly happy w that.
I've had a really really hard pregnancy and I just have so many risk factors anyways. Never really is never for us. After experiencing Hypermesis Garviduarm. I never ever ever want to be pregnant again and I stand firm on that.(which speaks volumes bc before this pregnancy i LOVED LOVED loved being pregnant and everything about it. I never thought i would get to the point of actually wanting to be done. for good) It was horrible. If I get baby fever then we would adopt but honestly three is really stretching it for us. And im over the baby stage. I really have no desire to have more children. I want to move on w my life and experience new adventures which can't happen that easily w more babies. I know some ppl can't imagine not having more kids but for us I can't imagine having more kids lol
Even if I didn't have the health side of things (which is the number one reason we don't want anymore and more importantly why we SHOULDNT have anymore) we still would have happily and peacefully gone this route. We are perfectly content w our family size and I know some ppl are designed to have and want a million kids but that is def not for us. At some point every couple has to stop (unless of course they decide to be a Quiiverful family).
There isn't a doubt in my mind nor his, long term or short term. If there was even a small hint of worry or doubt about the choice (for either of us) we would have never had him get it done. *no way*. It really has to be a choice that BOTH parties are 110% fine and 0% doubtful about.
Neat!!! I just read it, thanks :) so you weren't in the room while they did it? I wasn't sure if they allowed it, not sure I'd wanna be in there anyway lol!

we dont have any childcare or family to help, so i had to drop DH off and take the kids somewhere for a bit. I really didn't like not being there but it just wasn't feesable without help (we have a one yr old and a wild two year old). But as it turns out the doctor doesn't let wives back there anymore bc he used to let them but they freaked out more than the husband did lol. So i wouldn't have been allowed back there anyways, but some doctors do allow it, so it would depend on where you went and what doctor you went with.
DH is an only child. He would have been more than happy stopping at 2 but i wanted to try for a girl. (TBH had DS2 been a girl we would have for sure been done). So he agreed. I have 4 other siblings plus 2 steps, so i know what a big family is like. Im glad we found a middle ground family. Not too big, not too small.
We didn't bother telling his parents. My mom knows (but thats just bc we are freakishly linked lol). Im not sure how they (DHs parents) would feel. His mom doesn't like me that well so im sure she would think i was evil for having him be the one to get sterilized, but whatever lol

My hubby would get the snip tomorrow if he could. Logically, I know and understand that we can't just keep on having babies. If I think back to the fatigue and morning sickness of the first trimester or the constant backaches in the last trimester, I don't actually want to endure pregnancy again. But then I think about those first flutters, feeling my baby kick and hiccup inside her safe and cozy place in my body and my heart aches to know that I won't ever experience that again. At the minute, my brain and my heart are at odds with eachother. I know that my brain will have to win out, it's time to be done with having kids but these past 5 years of childbearing have been the best years of my life and I'm sad to see that chapter close. I guess I have to look ahead to the new chapter-adventures with my kids as they get old enough to do fun things. But I'll always love the way a newborns bum fits into your hand.
He wants to schedule his vasectomy but I keep asking him to wait until I can say yes without crying. Eventually, he'll be frustrated with me. Anyone else feeling conflicted? CVD-I wish I felt the way you do! It'd be so much easier if I had that definitive sense that we're done and it's time to move on. Maggie's outgrown some of her adorable newborn outfits, and I was weeping while folding them up and setting them aside. It's already going too fast!

I have to chime in. My dh just had a consult for a vasectomy at the beginning of July. I have 5 kids and I just turned 38 yesterday. I've been pregnant 6 times in 8 years. I know we aren't having any more children, but I too don't want him to get one. I feel the same way you do Jadis. These childbearing days have been so wonderful. I do need to look forward to the next chapter in my life with my kids. But having the newborn stage behind me keeps making me want to look back. Being a mom is great. I'm so happy I got to experience a child growing inside of me. What a gift!! Congrats to all of you.

Permanent birth control is really something that BOTH ppl in the relationship have to be totally and completly on board with. Even though your brain says one thing and your heart says another, im of the mindset that if there is any doubt (no matter what body organ that comes from), then don't do it. The choice needs to be 110% positive for both, otherwise that is when you get into regret or wanting a reversal, etc. If i were still havings feelings such as you, I would chose something more along the lines of an IUD. They have practically the same sucess/failure rate as vasectomy/tubal ,and they last a pretty long time (though they can be taken out at any point) but they dont come with the permanent strings of the choice-it's reversible, unlike Vasectomy/Tubal.
If there was any doubt, even .001% for either of us, then we def would not have gone the permanent route.

Ladies! Anyone remember what their first post partum period was like?? The last 2 days I've had SUPER light flow (dark red/light brownish... Sorry tmi.), like panty liner and there's only a bit sometimes. Could this be my period or because I started Bootcamp on Monday could it be some bleeding from strenuous exercise? I got my period early with DS1 too even though I'm just breast feeding, DS2 is doing 7 hour sleep stretch at night so I figured it'd be back to haunt me soon lol

Violet, I was wondering how you were, your due the same day as me! Have you had any signs yet?
I've not had a single one, when I seen the mw two weeks ago she said the baby was fully engaged and that got my hopes up but nothing since :(
I'm fed up as we are having a heat wave here in the uk and it's so uncomfortable at the moment. Hoping I don't go over due.

5Boys, I get regular Braxton Hicks but that's about all. No show etc. Feel a little like I could be pregnant forever, but then I have to remind myself to trust my body and baby, we've come this far together and I'm sure my body will go into labour when baby is ready. Baby must need this last bit of time in utero so while I really want to meet her I'm trying to remember that. Almost there.

Mrs P, ahh bless, I can imagine how uncomfortable it must be for your little one in this weather. What has she been wearing? I was wondering what clothes my little girl will need to wear if it's still so hot when she arrives. I have lots of vests and babygrows but it will be too hot for them.
How are your boys? Hope they are feeling better and getting over the chicken pox? xx

Violet, I know what you mean. I've had a few bh. but no show either or anything else for that matter!
You are right though, if they need some extra time then that's the most important thing, despite my discomfort :( It's been worse the last couple of weeks as I've had a lot of pain just above my navel, the doctor doesn't seem to know what it is but thinks it could be ligament damage, muscular etc. it is extremely painful when I have been active, not too bad when I can rest (which isn't often, unfortunately)
It's annoying as I have actually felt like cleaning the house constantly, but I've been like this now for last couple of weeks so I don't think it's a sign labour is imminent!

yeah vests and baby gro's are out as her dresses as they are just annoying her in the heat, we brought a few romper suits from next with capped sleeves and little shorts to them, baggy around her tummy but a bit more covered than a vest so thats pretty much all she's worn, she's grown so fast as well there are clothes she has now outgrown but not worn due to the weather

Hudson is 2 months old today!! He had his needles this morning and didn't even cry. Weighed in at a whopping 14lbs 7oz, he's doing great! We also put him in his crib for the first time last night as the bassinet is getting too small and he did fabulous! He went down at 10pm, woke up just to nurse and get changed at 4:30am then woke up at 8:30am :) he's perfect.

Well I can't sleep. I've been awake for ages and its 3 am here in Australia. I'm thinking too much about babes movements after I got a swift kick yesterday in my tummy by my two year old. He's moving but not as much as if like. I've just had a big glass of cold water and I can feel him...still nothing great. My nerves are on edge too as I'm booked in for an evc on Wednesday. Its been a far from smooth pregnancy this one. Anyway, hope all of you are well...its freezing here I envy you lot with heat.

Morning Ladies!
@CVD-he's so beautiful! What a chunky little ham he is, eh? Love that he's sleeping so well for you, I'm jealous. I'm a freaking zombie and I have little to no patience for the other 2 kids :( I want to make it up to them and take them out for a fun day or something, they deserve it.
@Violet-sounds very promising! I was so excited when I started having show, it means that your gal will be in your arms very very soon!
I was really hoping that one of the ladies in here would have their baby on the same day as the Duchess! You guys totally dropped the ball! Just joking :) LOL. Also, I was so convinced that she was having a girl. I'd have put $100 on it! I was kinda rooting for a girl for them, now that the policies have changed so that she could've reigned afterall. But a healthy bouncing baby boy is a wonderful gift indeed! Congrats to them.
Maggie's packed on over a pound since she was born, she's generally a happy baby but hates the carseat. She screams herself silly from point A to point B. She's in the middle of the 3 week growth spurt I was warned about, so I'm just a walking talking feedbag right now. I'm exhausted and she's not even a terrible sleeper, I'm just used to getting 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep so I've had to adjust to the needs of a newborn again.
Hope you're all well!

My first DD hated the car seat. She was finally diagnosed with acid reflux and given a prescription medicine. It worked wonders!

Thanks ladies!! Hudson actually slept through the night a couple nights ago, I woke up at 7am in pain because my boobs were so full, so I had to wake him, I'm not sure how late he would have slept!
Dreamofpink - Ryder doesn't pay much attention really! He likes to give Hudson his blanky and soother and other then that, it's like he doesn't notice him lol! I'm sure it'll be a different story once Hudson starts trying to play with Ryder's trucks and tractors ;)
Jadis - hope Maggie comes around to the carseat! Does she take a soother? I can imagine that must be rough, I'd hate to go anywhere in the car lol a baby cry breaks my heart!

Hope it is your time and it won't be long. I was induced last week my due date was today. My husband was on vacation last week. He works for the railroad and would never make on time if he was in the middle of nowhere on a train. I have fast labors. My longest labor was 6 hrs. I don't feel contractions until I am between a 6-7.

Hi girls I chek in on you all regularly but don't get round to posting much! Anyway I just thought I would let you know that baby Samuel joined our family on Monday. He is our very own royal baby and weighed the same as the royal baby as well at 8lb 6oz. He is amazing and so far I am loving being a mummy of 3 boys! He will also be collecting his free royal coin for sharing a birthday with Prince George. Xx

Happy birthday weezie... Not long to go and then you can crack the champas....
Well I'm not far off either. This pregnancy is hard. I had to go in to hospital for bloods and a 24hr urine collection as I have trace proteins high gp occasionally and swelling. I have two scans next week after a failed ecv on Wednesday and dropping fluid levels. They've suggested a ceaser if I do t go naturally soon, next Wednesday I will know everything...I hope. I can't wait to meet my baby, I just hope he's healthy.

Well I'm still in one piece. Apparently having that big show
Wasn't enough to start off labour properly. It's okay though, I'm happy enough to wait it out. I'm really working on my patience and trying to remember that it will happen when the time is right. I'm ignoring pressure from doctors etc for an induction (my babies are on the bigger side but not huge), and want a calm birth without interventions. According to health professionals I'm overdue as they have me due 25th July based on LMP but I think it's more like 28th July as my cycles were longer due to still BF DS3 when I conceived.

Yeh I understand wanting a calm birth. I didn't want to be induced either this time. Three of my boys came at 37 weeks and I was induced with my 3rd at 38 wks 3 days. The contractions are rougher and my 3rd I tried the epi and it did not take. I didn't even attempt it this time. Everything was fine until the last 10-15 minutes. My dr. was performing a c-section and I had to push. The nurses are telling me not to push. I was telling them just to get another dr. I need to push. They were trying to find one, but then she came out and the said start pushing and she was out in 3 pushes.

OMG! there are so many cute adorable little babies in here! thanks for sharing all of your lovies, ladies! they are all precious and beautiful!
iluvmy4sons- congrats on your sweet little baby <3
To the ladies awaiting labor i hope it happens soon! I totally understand not wanting the induction and such. I went nearly 42 weeks with DS1. The doctors pressured me but i knew i wanted a natural birth and all was healthy so i waited it out...honeslty im really glad i did bc he was born face up and it was a long hard birth, but i firmly believe if i would have gone the induction route it would have ended in CS.
RE: babys that hate the carseat - DS2 HATED his! He would scream the entire time. It took many months but finally we ended up getting new carseats (need a way to fit three RFing across the back of a prius so had to purchase the radian XRT) and he is now a happy little camper (most of the time!). I thought his orginal carseat looked comfortable, but i guess not!
AFM, im 35 weeks. We *finally* are holding steady on a name (you wouldn't believe how many times we've changed it lol). Baby is STILL transverse (sideways). Ive done every logical and every nutty thing you can possibly think up to get her to flip and it's just not happening. Sigh. Was hoping for one last HB. ...maybe she will still flip, idk, but i have a consult on Monday with an OBGYN to discuss options (i was planning a second HB). So it's a major change of plans..however, amazingly i am at peace if CS has to result...which if you know me, you wouldn't think that would happen as im such a crunchy natural birther, but this time...something just feels off, i dont know what. and im not worried, but i feel like CS it will be (due to her position) but then i have a feeling they will say "oh yeah, she is deeply tangled in her short cord and couldn't get herself unravealed" ...or something like that. So im at peace about a planned CS. (though still holding out she will flip by 37 weeks and i'll get my last vaginal birth) Im going to ask about a "family friendly CS" (or "natural CS") and see what they can do...would love delayed cord clamping, but dont know if thats possible. Things are not set in stone. Im hoping she goes head down, but if not im glad to have my ducks in a row and my mindset positive about the drastic change of plans.
DH has healed well from the snip snip. And im ready to have this baby and move on with life :D Can't wait!

Thanks ladies.
I have admit, im a bit nervous with recovery and having a newborn and two toddlers. I really hope i can cope. Thats what im most nervous about.
I think im okay with a CS because of my intuition. But also, Ive had my amazing hospital water birth, which was so empowering bc it was the hardest thing i ever did in my life but still met all of my goals and had the unmedicated birth i had hoped for, despite such a long labor. But it was magical. I also had my dream HB with DS2. A little long, but not nearly as tough as my first. It was beauitful in every right. I think because this is my last and because ive had those two other positive (but very different) experiences, that could also be why im at peace with things. I hate that the baby may not have the benefit of a vaginal birth (and that i may not either), but im blessed to have had two lovely and amzing births. Had this happened with my first i def would not be coping well at all...

Hope it's soon for both of us. Ive had a few moments where I've got teary and upset as I feel so huge and uncomfortable but a cry usually helps and then I pick myself up and keep going. Hubby has been so great, patient and kind and is dotting and helps by cheering me up. It makes such a big difference. I also have some great friends and my doula is brilliant. This is a first for me seeing my due date come and go. My other kids where between 38-40 weeks (two due date babies). Everything is healthy and well with my baby though so am wanting to give my body a chance to go into labour spontaneously. If we get to 42 weeks though, I will go with an induction as ultimately I just want a healthy baby and think the placenta etc stops working as well after that. So one way or another my daughter will be Earthside in the next 10 days. The long wait is almost over.

Hi guys. I feel bad coming back to update as I was really bad and dropped off from posting in this thread quite a while ago. I have logged in and read from time to time but have just really struggled with fatigue and feeling busy, so I haven't replied for ages. I wanted to update though as I did sway with a few of you guys in the diet threads so I wanted to let you know that I had my baby last week and she is a beautiful little girl. I still cant believe it and am on cloud 9. Sharing those diet threads "what are you having for dinner" seems like yesterday now, even though the wait to get here (to baby in arms) felt so long at times. I am hanging out to see the rest of the babies from this thread born, and I hope that those of you who are still team green do get your DG. Falling to Grace I ended up with an unplanned c/s with this baby despite having had 3 births with no interventions of any sort before. The pain has not been as bad as I thought, and neither has the disappointment. I am sad (like you, about the fact that the baby doesnt get the benefits of a natural birth and also about the fact it was very different from what I had envisaged and planned) but now that she is here safely in my arms it doens't feel like it matters very much. I think I / you will need about 2 or 3 weeks of help before it is easy to look after toddlers and to keep up with laundry / lifting etc... but all in all the recovery has been ok. I would suggest weaning off meds slowly rather than stopping cold turkey like I tried the other day, and antiinflammatories really do seem to work well. If you want to talk through any stuff about c/s after hoping for a natural birth please feel free to pm me.
Congratulations to you all on the arrivals of your beautiful babies - what a wonderful thing. They are all so beautiful. Best wishes to those whose babies are still to come - they will be here so soon and it will all be worth it.

This morning is my consult to discuss planned CS for transverse lie. Nothing will be set in stone as she could still flip but I think ill be feeling a lot better after I speak w the OB. I didn't sleep a wink last night. I'm more excited-anxious than
Nervous. I just want some answers really. Last night I think he baby changed positions but I cannot discern where as I'm getting movements all over the place. She flipped back before bed tho so I suppose it was irrelevant. Every once in a while she will flip to some other position but she doesn't stay there and ends right back to transverse so I'm really curious if maybe she is deeply entangled in her cord or something.
Do u guys think the OB will want to do an u/s today?

If you want to talk through any stuff about c/s after hoping for a natural birth please feel free to pm me.
Congratulations to you all on the arrivals of your beautiful babies - what a wonderful thing. They are all so beautiful. Best wishes to those whose babies are still to come - they will be here so soon and it will all be worth it.
You are so sweet to share that. Depending in how things go today at my consult I may def be in touch. Congratulations on ur successful sway! I bet u are over the moon <3

How did it go Falling?

I spoke with the OBGYN. She talked about ECV...sounded rather scary but she seems to be an advocate for it....she said if its done they do it at 37 weeks. They give you an epidural/spinal to numb you. Its done in the OR ("just in case" anything happens and needs a crash CS). and it only works 50% of the time...well to me those are good reasons not to try it lol. but to her those are good reasons TO TRY it...hmm....anywho, she said lets have an u/s and see where the baby is-maybe it wont even be an issue. I agreed to that, but i did tell her that this baby goes from head down to sideways and back and forth, so take it with a grain of salt if she is head down.
Sure enough she was head down. Im happy that is, of course, but also not sure if i feel confident she will stay that way as she is classes as an "unstable lie".
In the meantime, i spoke with my MWs. I have a rebozo and i'll do belly wrapping today and then tomorrow i'll use my pregnancy support belt band in hopes of getting her to STAY this way. Bc now the problem is she isn't a stable head down. I'll alternate between the two and pray she maintains the posiion.
This thing was so hard to tie though! i def want DH to help next time. Wrapping isn't hard, but the tough part is pulling the fabric tight enough and back enough for the proper support (if its lose it's worthless). But i managed...JUST had enough to tie the back...hopefully it will work the next several weeks, but idk if i get bigger if it will or not.
I was happy to see Eva, though <3 She has a cute little button nose. Super danity. She weighs about 4lbs & 15oz. Both of my boys were born in the 7lb range, so i'll be interested to see if i go late or early with this one. (im 35+2). DS1 was born at 41+5 weighing 7lbs & 10oz. DS2 was born at 38+3 (basically an entire month earlier!) weighting 7lbs & 4oz. ...if baby gains about 1/2lb per week and assuming she is similar weight as her brothers then im guessing another 38 weeker...but obviously that doesn't indicate much of anything, just more interesting than anything.
She is in the 30th percentile...sounds a little small to me but the tech said not to worry. there is a range and she wasn't concerned and wouldn't be unless she got to the 10th percentile or less.

I know how you feel, I've been the same, really hormonal not to mention grouchy! The time is going so slow right now and I'm not sleeping very well at all, only getting a couple of hours sleep a night. I'm also trying to remind myself to be patient, after all we can't be pregnant forever! I have a consultant apt in the morning, so I will see what he says. I wonder which one of us will be first? I still think it will be you as I haven't even had a show yet!

falling- i wouldn't do the turn thing at 37 weeks if it's only 50% chance and could have you getting a c-section right then. babe has lots of time to turn. have you looked at spinning babies? went to chiro? my babe was tranverse and flipping at 35 weeks but has been good so far. Just have mw keep checking and now that babe is head down look fo rthings to keep babe that way so nothing that is for breach babes:) a good one that is any postion babe is this- The Inversion (http://spinningbabies.com/techniques/241-inversion) only a minute of your day:)

Im not sure i could ever bring myself to do the ECV anyways...but every time i give birth my water breaks first. And with DS2 i gave birth at 38 weeks. The risk of cord prolapse with a sideways baby is very high (way higher than a breech) and so im just not comfortable with that risk to await labor. If my waters wouldn't go before labor started id be totally open to that, but so far that has not been my case. But i may not even have to worry about this anyways bc she changed positions (although she is classed as unstable lie bc she goes transverse, head down, transverse, back to head down, etc)
Yes. i have been doing everything from spinning babies (especially inversions) to chiropractic care (2-3x per week since before i was pregnant), Websters Technique for the last 4 weeks, swimming, walking, ball boucning, stair climbing, moxibustion, pustualla (sp? its a homeopathic thing), sleeping positions, pressure points, relaxation, visualization, body massaging, cold pea pack, flashlight, music, warm wash cloth....ive tried it all except for acupuncture.
She did flip about two days ago (though she is an unstable lie). TBH, i dont think any of these things helped as she did it in my sleep and after coming to the acceptance that what will be will be and i stopped trying everything for about a week (i did all of this for 6+ weeks without sucess). And actually, i all but gave up on all of these (except the chiro care bc that is good for other reasons too), and i honestly think not worrying about it anymore the most helpful. Im 35+3....hoping she stays this way now! but she just has so much room in there so im not sure if she will stay this way or not, but im glad (for now) she is no longer sideways.

My baby was transverse until around 36 weeks and then turned head down and stayed there. he was up so high that they had to do an ultrasound to confirm that he had turned because the heartbeat was so high in my uterus that they couldnt be positive. Hopefully yours will stay too.

i don't know why they would have you stressing that 6 weeks ago. babes change postion all the time. I think it is great that you have accepted whatever will be but hoping that babe stays put for you:)
I was stressed about it. Me.(not them) I knew there was plenty of time but i also have severe pelvic organ prolapse so i knew that this could have gotten rough getting her head down. (it's a severe case). No one was worried about it but me. But even bigger than that is how much a transverse hurts!!! I was in soooo much pain! Babies do not fit that way well at all. It hurts. Therefore I wanted her moved asap
I am planning an out of hospital birth with MWs and state law says baby needs to be head down by 37 weeks or else i cant birth with them. (unless the baby actually flips head down before labor but with a baby laying sideways it is a big risk of cord prolapse if your waters go and mine went at 38 weeks with DS2 and my waters go before labor every time...) Im middle of 35 weeks now...it's not unreasonable to have a back up plan in case things have to change. It's not that im planning on changing these things. Im sticking with my MWs for the moment, but i think failing to have a back up plan if baby didn't move would cause me a lot of undue stress for not being prepared for that possibility. It's not THEM (the MWs) stressing out about it, it's ME of course, the law really dictates how they have to act too (which drives me bonkers!). im not comfortable with waiting until the last min to change plans if i have to.
If i were planning a hospital birth, im sure they wouldn't even be concerned.

Morning ladies anymore babies on the horizon ? I still have 10 days plus my usual extra 10-14 days as am usually late !!
I was 2/5th head down last time I saw midwife 2 weeks ago but last night typically I think baby flipped as seem to be getting kicks in a very odd place compared to the last 4 weeks !! Grrr
I was hoping to get a sweep today 38+4 as baby is measuring big so would rather it came sooner than later but it's unlikely as protocol here is first sweep at 40+5 !!! Unfortunately I also seem to have a severe prolapse so not sure the mw would even find my cervix and am worried how it will affect a natural birth both during and also how but will affect me after :-(

Falling2Grace, I just wanted to jump on and say that something similar happened to me. My first two DDs were straightforward normal deliveries and DD3 ended up being a c-section for transverse lie. I'm going to be honest and admit that I felt cheated of the experience and the endorphins of a nice normal delivery and the recovery time was a pain. She breastfed like a champ though and I had loads of milk.
However, 17 months on I've completely moved on, pretty much forgotten that she didn't come out the same way as her sisters (lol) and am completely unbothered by my scar. I'm hoping for a VBAC this time but, to be honest, another section wouldn't be the end of the world.

thank you for that. Luckily she has been head down for record time (going on day 3 or 4 now) so hopefully she stays that way, but if not, im at peace with whatever. I know i did everything i could and what will be will be...i honestly think, so far, the hardest part is that many, though well meaning, act like if you tried harder or your tried more your baby will just flip. ...for a bit it really got me down bc it sended me the message that if i just did more then the baby wouldn't be in the position she is. If i prayed harder or stood on my head longer then she would be just flip. ...though i know everyone is well meaning, in some ways, when it doesn't work, it places the blame on mom and so in that freaky little way i was more upset over feeling like it was my fault instead of feeling hopeful that things would just happen and she would flip. That is why, i think when i came to this place of peace and acceptance about what happens will happen and trying to relax about it, i honestly think thats what worked. I was just too tense and trying too much and worrying too much for it to happen...but at the same i also feel some babies are like that for a reason. It's not bc the mom didn't do X, Y, or Z. Some babies need to be born a certain way. Sometimes there's a reason for it. I think.
Im glad to hear your positive story. If plans change and i need a CS for transverse lie, im going to view it as a positive experience. She may be born differently than my others, but im okay with that bc i know ive educated myself and i know ive done everything in my power and at the end of the day if thats how she needs to be born than thats the birth she needed. I think we like to think we are in control of every position our child gets into and maybe in some cases it is so (since we know some positions lead to optimal fetal positioning) but honestly i dont think that is always the case (especially when you are dealing with severe prolapse or some other anatomical issue). I know with DS1 he was born face up and the was one hell of a labor-ouch! back labor!!!- but i did all of the optimal positioning during my pregancy with him (im a child birth educator and birth doula, so i know some tricks), but even though i did all of that, he still didn't move out to a better position. At the end of the day he was born face up. And i know these positions during pregnancy really can help, but sometimes babies just have to be born a certain way. For whatever reason, even if we dont understand it.

Wow f2g... Where do you live? I had an unsuccessful ecv last week for breech and I didn't have any drugs and the risk of going into labour was low. It all sounds very dramatic that they have to give you a spinal. It hurt but it was more uncomfortable than painful. My hospital are supporting a breech delivery unless I need to be induced for some reason. I hope your bub stays put.

she is probably in USA like me lol- but this is a tranverse babe not breech so there is a difference. Babe cannot be born transverse vaginally at all vs a brech babe can. Now that she is further along babe will mostl likely stay in postion since there is less space- before babe could do all the flips it wanted- given that babes move at the last second too so if I was scheduled for c-sec I'd be doing a sono at the last second too:)

I've spent a lot of time up at the hospital being monitored, getting fluids and having blood tests. All came back clear. But I'm not well. Had a couple of stretch and sweeps done to try to encourage labour. Was 3cms on Friday, 5cms today and due to go in at 6am to be induced. According to medical file I will be 11 days overdue tomorrow. Not sure exactly when I ovulated etc. Anyway looks like baby is finally coming to meet us tomorrow.

Congratulations Violet and Akalove! So happy to hear of the arrival of your precious babies <3
Im considered full term this saturday (due the 31st though). ...i wish i had a crystal ball to know when this show is gonna get on the road...wouldn't that be awesome haha.
I started EPO yesterday (under MWs care). I have some cervical scarring due to endometrial cells on my cervix and so labor is really hard for me from 0cm-4cm and takes days of consistent contracting every 5 minutes just to get to active labor. So she said i would be a good candidate for EPO. The goal is to soften the cervix so it will be more pliable and the scar tissue wont be as tough, so that i can dialte more normally. We discussed cervical "massaging" during labor as well. We will take a wait and see approach with that. Im hoping the EPO can soften things up enough though.has anyone ever taken it? thoughts? She said it doesn't induce labor, just makes my cervix softer for once im in labor. I take 2 orally every day and then use one vaginally at night.
MW wants me to continue belly wrapping bc she said the baby is smaller (though healthy) but my uterus is super stretched and i also have high amounts of amniotic fluid (not polyohydromisis, but just a bit more than average). So bc of that she still has a lot of room that she could flip into some other position. Her head is totally floating atm. So we are trying to prevent her from doing that. Yesterday she was LOT position. Hopefully she stays there!

Sometimes i think i'll go early again and other times i think i should just plan to go 42 weeks again and be happy if it happens before...but that gets tough on the hard days

Not many of us then! I'm due 13th according to my dating scan and 21st according to my ovulation chart way back when. DS1 was 41wks and DS2 40+5. But who knows how accurate those due dates were given the disparity this time! So I'm sort of expecting anything from now until 28th really. A busy summer holiday waiting.

If I don't go soon I'm going to shove my hand up there and rip him out. I'm done. I'm not due til the 20th though. I've had a 38+4, 39 and a due date baby. God give me strength lol.
 That's exactly how I felt at the end of my pregnancy!

Have started a new thread for those still waiting so we can see who is left. Feel free to pop over and add yourselves.
On another note - has anyone had period pains ? I had a few period type pains last night - not tightenings just achey and sometimes sharp stinging like pains right under my bump. I am wondering if it maybe an infection as the midwife said yesterday she was sending my urine off to be tested as had unusually high protein and something else in it.... I hope its not thats all i need right now !!
Well looking at my notes and the 3 different dates that the midwife has in there I am today either 3 days overdue, 1 day overdue or due in 2 days time so at the most i have 16 days left - I really hope its sooner though since i commited to going back to work so soon HOPING baby would be here on time - if it comes 2 weeks late i will literally have 2-3 weeks off :-( Unless of course I win the lottery :-)
How is everyone else feeling at the moment ?

Hi everyone, just giving an update. We had our newest blessing on July 29 and we did not know the sex before delivery. We were swaying for a girl but that was not the plan this time. We had a healthy baby boy (baby boy #5) and all is well. I only did the sway diet 1 month before so if I do it again, I will do it for more time.
Congrats to all the new Mom's and best wishes to those awaiting birth!
Congratulations! Enjoy your lovely new bundle! X

Will upload some pics soon, loving having a little baby girl. Still hard to believe and I'm not sure the reality will ever sink in. I still feel like I'm lying to myself and everyone else that I have a girl and feel guilty for buying pink because it's still a dream in my mind to have a daughter and can't really be true right?

I wish it would happen soon. Im a SAhM and DH takes our only car to work everyday. I am going stir crazy sitting around waiting for it to happen. My house has never been more clean and thats only bc of pure bordem and my trying to take my mind off labor. I think im more anxious this time around than the other two bc ive been thro this twice now and know quite well what to expect lol. I just wish icould get this done and over w. the pregnancy isnt whata bothering me in the least-its the part of waiting for the dire pain to start lol. I know every pregnancy is different but aince i went two weeks 'late' w DS1 and two weeks 'early' w DS2 i am a complete mess wondering when ita going to happen and if its going to be yet another 30+ hours of labor like my other two.

Falling mine were 39 and 46 and 38 hours and then little miss was from 12 midnight to 10.36am and the contractions were not unbearable until about 3-4am so really only 7-8 hours I too was worried about it but long previous labours doesn't necessarily mean this one will be the same. Good luck !!

Good luck, Falling! I'm thinking about you. Hope it's very soon, I understand that the waiting is the worst part. I wanted to get it over with and have my baby in my arms. FYI-DS1 was 21 hours of labour, though only intense for 6 or so. DS2 was 14 hours of labour, intense for about 6 hours. DD was born in 3 hours and only the last hour was really intense pain. Maybe your labour will be much easier this time. Think positively about your body and your baby's wisdom-trust your body, it was designed for this task. I know that sounds terribly cheesy but it's just so true.

She is finally hereeee!!!!!!
Lilah Victoria was born this morning (Sept. 7th at 41 weeks exactly) at 2:49am after a speedy HB delivery. The MW arrived about an hour before she was born, so there was not time to fill the birth pool (we tried but couldn't wing it). She is my first "land birth" but honestly it was my best birth. I wish i would have had the water like w my other two, but her birth was by far the most smooth and "normal" haha.
She weighs 7lbs & 4oz (same exact weight as DS2 who was born at 38+3!). She is about 19in long (possibly a little taller but we couldn't get her legs to straighten out lol). She is so danty and petite. I am so in love and so glad i had a positive birth experience. After two 32 hour labors with my boys, i am so happy to have one that went this way. My waters didn't break until about two hours before she arrived and even then it was just a leak and let me just say that pain from the "waves" were FAR more managable than even 2CM pains without waters intact (w my boys my water broke before labor started).
I still cant believe i finally gave birth lol. it obviously hurt but it wasn't nearly as painful as my two previous births (nor nearly as long!)
Our family is now complete. <3
I cannot believe that our dreams came true and we finally have a daughter. It brings tears to my eyes every time i think about it. I feel like im in a dream. Someone pinch me! I never imagined seeing the day that God brought me a daughter <3
