Wanting, you have such a cute bump! I have the same blooming bath, just another colour (yellow). The boys think it's "just" a sunflower. And so soft, they love it
What is that in the picture beneath the blooming bath?
I'm trying to get some pictures uploaded as well... have to make some first, lol
I also remember that waiting time very very well.. well it was not that long ago, lol. I was counting hours and even minutes in the end, lol. Hope it goes by quickly for you!! And I hope you will be getting back with good news as well

Toxoplasmosis result is good but baby still has cysts on the brain booooo scan on 7th to check them out and hopefully they may have gone! Trying not to get hopes up too much ;-s

The cysts are quite common and go away on their own a lot of the time :) I know it's stressful and telling you to take it easy means nothing cause I know how I would feel... Just try and take some time for yourself and try to relax! Can't wait for your scan!

Oh my goodness, so what was wrong with her baby!? Please please don't say that this termination was not completely necessary!! It was my absolute fear when I questioned whether she should do so... Oh my goodness my heart is pounding and breaking all at once!
Fish did they say the cysts have reduced at all? I feel optimistic for you that your little girl will be just fine!

I don't think she has gotten autopsy results yet but I would not have relyed on an u/s to make such an impacting decision :( I pray for her sake that there is something wrong with the baby that would call for this kind of action

Thorz I really like your cakes!! I love doing cakes also. I do cookies and cakes for my boys and my family (and an occasional close friend). This is the cake I made for DS1 birthday a couple of weeks ago. He LOVES karate and wanted a karate cake. I was at a loss as to what to do!! This isn't very creative but he loved it which is all that matters. The second cake is one I did last weekend for a friends Mom. She is very religious so we decided on a bible cake with a scripture.

Tree haven't had a scan that checked the brain since they found the cysts next one is next Tuesday. Northerns amnio results showed no genetic issue it was anticipated they would Show a reason for Evelyn's abnormalities but it came back clear which I guess raises doubts ;-(
Mum23 I have heard this too but my consultant and specialist have not said that so I'd don't know if there are different types but bloods clear and no other issues shown so there is a possibility could be okay - dont want to get hopes up too much in case!

Northern if you are reading this i just wanted to say my heart goes out to you and your family, your little girl was so beautiful.
I'm sorry the doctors seem to have let you down again, especially after them being wrong and telling you the pregnancy was not viable in the first place. I remember all the pain you went through then when they told you the pregnancy would not progress, to now think they have been wrong again doesn't even bear thinking about.
Loosing a baby is a pain no mother should ever have to experience, i nearly lost one of my precious boys two years ago and it still haunts me. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through.
Please know you and your family are in my thoughts x

My heart breaks for Northern. The amnio she had wasn't to determine if there was a problem... it was to determine if the baby had a genetic issue. It would be important to know if there was a chromosomal abnormality since they want more children.
The results of her ultrasound showed a more than double increase in fluid in the ventricles in the baby's brain as well as fluid in the abdomen and heart abnormalities. All of these combined means this baby wouldn't have a good outcome. A small amount of brain swelling can be overcome but when the swelling is basically 250% what normal should be then it is almost certain the baby would have brain damage due to the swelling during development. Hopefully during the autopsy they will find the reason for these abnormalities (most likely an infection of some kind) however they may never know they reason this happened.
I think she made the best decision for herself and her family with the information that she had. I feel so bad for her that she is doubting herself however, given the amnio results and what doctors are telling her I think that is normal to a certain extent. She had two separate ultrasounds that showed the same abnormalities. I can't imagine the pain she is in and I am so thankful every day that I haven't had to be in that position.

I'm making 3 of them and my hip and foot still hurt a lot so it might take a while to complete this task but I'll update with my pic when they are finally done! I'm just so excited to get thing put together in this house, I only have 3 things hanging on the wall TOTAL in my entire house and we have been here for a year and a half. I'm scared to hang things because I'm a perfectionist and if they aren't perfectly centered or level it drives me nuts! I'm not good at getting things level or centered so I just haven't done it. My walls are so bare, I just have to force myself to do it.

You question everything when they can't give a reason I didn't know they would do an autopsy hopefully that will provide an answer and some peace

So weird you still cannot see them. Everyone else can?
Oh waiting until the 7th still seems sooo long! I am so crossing my fingers for you scan!! I have heard of sooo many cysts that just disappear during the pregnancy, it seems almost normal. I really hope it will be just the same for your precious little girl! This pregnancy must be scaring the hell out of you  It has really been enough already...
I really hope Northern is going to get an answer soon on why her little baby was in such a bad condition. And I really hope she will feel at peace with how and why and what they have decided to do. She seems to be struggling a lot right now, which is so normal of course. This is such a horrible thing to have to go through
4Giffins, oh, you are still so tiny really! I feel so huge already. When I begin to think about all the way I still have to go, I have no idea how this is going to end, lol!
I am so exhausted now, going to bed. Noah is still up, he was helping me with the cake. I am going to take a picture tomorrow, he made a pirate and sat it into the boat, lol.
Good night... or have a great rest of the day everybody!

All of those tests are just for fun. They won't tell you 100% what you are having. Most of them are based off of urine pH which can change with what you eat. The cabbage test, drano, etc. are all just for fun. I am looked into all of them as I really really wanted to know the gender of my baby early. The only way to know is genetic testing or an ultrasound. Too bad they don't tell you the gender in India. Is there a reason why they don't tell you gender at your anatomy scan?

No, not yet. I think I will be waiting with that until July or so. Have you washed anything yet?
I feel like nesting too, but I feel like it's almost impossible. We really need to move, there's just no space. Or we have to rearrange everything. Right now, the boys have their own rooms, and they are so stuffed up. Our bedroom as well. I don't know where to put anything :worry: A year ago we moved and went from a big house to a rather small apartment (3 bedrooms). We had way too much stuff for such a small apartment.
Bindu, is there a reason why they won't tell you the gender in India?
fish2012
May 1st, 2013, 04:20 AM
hey longing I think it's because there are less girls being born than you should expect and its feared to be due to selective abortions (around 800 girls born for every 1000 boys) in India like china boys are prefered generally seems to be the other way round here or maybe i'm just sensative as a mum of boys ;-0
BBC News - Where are India's millions of missing girls? (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-13264301)
Longingforgirl
May 1st, 2013, 05:30 AM
Oh, so they can still have an abortion at this stage of the pregnancy? It's really late  Here, you can only do that until 12 weeks, so they won't tell you the gender before. Even though we don't have such strong preferations like in India or China.

oh really in the UK its 24 wks as long as you can convince two drs it would cause you mental suffering to contniue the preganacy - in some areas in the uk with mixed background communities they won't tell you the gender until after 24 wks for this reason - very sad ;-(
Wanting-a-girl

Selective abortions are th reason you cant have early gender u/s In Canada too... Because they were seeing less girls born to certain cultures/races... So sad :(
They are trying to pass some bill that gender can't be told til after the legal abortion time frame...
I have washed some stuff cause it was sitting upon the basement...
We are having a spider issue... Spiders are my biggest fear not to mention.. You want to see me scream like a little girl lol that's how... Anyways I'm in Ontario where I was under the impression there were no widow spiders but they seem to be nesting in my basement and garage :( so with that I wanted to get all my baby stuff clean and in my upstairs closet... Does anyone here deal with widows? I think I'm dealing with the brown ones they are disgusting!
I loved the white blooming bath! But didn't get it cause I don't do very well with white lol...
I have my crib together only cause it was ds3 that he never used and I never took down, so it's just conveniently there :) I hear you about cramped lol my two older ones have their own rooms and then ds3 sleeps with me... I know I'm bad but after his accident and surgeries I don't want him away from me... So I guess baby will also mpbe in our room! I can't put him with ds1 cause no trust there at all and then ds2 can't share a room either cause of his behavior problems... We need a bigger house and DH is stubborn he won't buy an older affordable house so we have to suffer... ;(

I think i've been nesting too, i've been cleaning things that i dont usually and sorted mine and DH bedroom out yesterday and said to DH it my side of the room has to stay clean ready for the moses basket going there. Count me in the "no energy" club too. I actually had a lot of energy for most of this pregnancy (despite my worst M/S ever) but then in the last few weeks my energy has just been completely zapped. I can't stand feeling so lazy, it drives me crazy not having the energy to do all the things I want/need to be doing. I've kind of come to the conclusion that maybe it's my body's way of putting me on early bedrest lol.
As I type this I'm sitting on the couch cuddled with DS3, both of us still in our pajamas at nearly noon!

Thanks WAG. I would love to know what it feels like to bring a baby home with me but all of them have had to stay in the NICU. Surprisingly my 35 weeker was the sickest at birth. He wasn't breathing and it was by far my scariest delivery.

My goodness! Its been a busy day on here! Firstly, welcome Bindu. Looks like you and me will be waiting until the birth to find out the gender of our babies! We chose not to find out - although its killing me lol
THorz - how on earth do you get your DS to wake at 830?? Both my boys are early risers, about 5am, but my DD wakes at 7am
It makes for a long day, although they all still have a sleep at 1-3:30pm so I have a little a break in the middle of the day!
Yesterday we met with an architect who is helping up with our design of our new extension to our house! Very exciting - hoping it all comes under budget! But I keep adding things so I know its blowing out lol
Renos will start when this baby is about a month old, in Oct, will be crazy busy and annoying for a few months, but will be totally worth it in the end. We are adding a second story with 3 more big bedrooms, another bathroom, activity room and 2 balconies. It will make the house a 8 bedroom 3.5 bathroom home! Room for more kids! haha just kidding, NO MORE KIDS 4 is enough! New kitchen, new master bedroom and ensuite, new timber floors, new roof - basically it will look like a whole new house! Im very excited and its certainly taking my mind off obsessing over the gender of bubs. Im throwing myself into planning etc
Im trying to find the time to nest - I so desperately have the urge to. Just finding it difficult with the 3 little monkeys around and getting to and fro their hobbies etc... Slowly getting there but find it frustrating how I cant do lots at once!

Lol I'm really lucky when it comes to my boys sleeping habits! Ds3 is 2 and wakes up at 830 then takes a nap from 1pm-5pm then goes down for the night at 730pm my older boys wake up around 8-830am and go to bed at 730-800pm. I do all my projects and my productive stuff during ds3's 4hour nap.

DH goes to work early so he's up at 5am when I am up with the boys and gets to see them b4 he heads to work. It works for us, still having said that DH has just told me he's booked us for a Wkend away without kids-he got it all organized on his own organizing with my mum so she can take care of the kids. I can't wait!!!! So I certainly won't be getting up at 5am then! Although knowing me I'll wake then anyway! Lol I think DH is sick of me grumping about! Hoping I'll be. Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted. It's been one week since I found out I'm having another little boy. I was proud of myself at first because I was doing SO good. I was planning and getting excited. Then the sadness came. :( My anxiety has been through the roof. Anything I can do for that when pregnant? I have all the same feelings coming back that I had when I found out I was pregnant (suprise pregnancy), except this time it's 10X worse. I was in such a good place before I conceived this baby. I didn't really care about gender. I was just happily living life with my two boys.
The sadness & anxiety seem to come in waves. It's really weird. Like yesterday I was feeling happy and hopeful- even lucky to be having this healthy baby boy. (Which I should be because I am blessed!) Then I took a nap and woke up with intense anxiety. I still haven't told many people we are having another boy. I told some family but that's it. It's sad but I've been avoiding my neighbors like the plague. lol! I'm trying to figure out the perfect way to announce on facebook. I tried to get a pic of my boys holding the ultrasound pic last night, but that went terribly wrong. They wouldn't both look at the camera and my oldest had a fake smile. I was going to put the caption "My 3 Sons". Anyone have any creative ideas I can steal? lol! I am desperate to announce it in a fun, creative way. For some reason I think that will make it easier.
Sorry to be such a downer.. I just didn't know where else to turn. Dh doesn't really understand what I'm going through. Sometimes I don't even! lol! When I really think about the reasons I want a girl they are so superficial. I firmly believe I can have close, meaningful relationships with my boys that will last the rest of my life. I'm trying to focus on that and be proud of my family dynamic. It's easier said than done though. I feel like a monster because I've been so moody with my whole family, especially my 8 year old. I really need to stop acting this way. I did have a super sweet moment with my 2 year old this morning that filled my heart with joy. He's not much of a cuddler usually but he laid on my chest for a good 10 minutes. It felt soooo good. I had both my little boys close to me. <3
Thanks for listening to me go on and on. It feels good to vent. How is everyone else doing that didn't get their DG? I would love to talk!

Shining- Glad to see you back. I'm sorry you're still struggling but it sounds like you are doing a wonderful job focusing on the positives. As I said in another post, I had the worst GD after I found out about DS3 but you sounds like you are lightyears ahead of where I was only a week after finding out last time. You should be proud of yourself for moving forward the way you are. It took me much longer to do that when I was in your position.
I feel so incredibly fortunate to have been spared the weight and anxiety of GD this time around. I'm not sure how much of it is a concious choice and how much is just due to how much I learned on my dark journey during my last pregnancy. Although I have been nothing but excited about this new little guy, I do still remember GD all too well and hope I can still offer some support the way others supported me in the past. I remember when I finally came to the realization that GD isn't a life sentence, unless you let it be. That was one of my "aha" moments.

Shining i know how you feel as i felt the same when i found out DS2 was a boy (he was going to be our last as this one is a suprise baby). I never saw myself having boys and now i have 2 of them. I've always wanted a little girl as i want the mother daughter relationship i never had with my mum but your never guaranteed those things and i could end up with a relationship with my daughter like i had with my mum. I guess what i'm trying to say is its ok to feel sad and sometimes i really dont think men understand that the 1 thing you want in the world is the 1 thing you cant have. Big hugs.
Thanks everyone, only 23 hours now till my scan, eeek cant wait :D

Shinning im so sorry! I totally understand my GD was absolutely the worst with DS3 I think it's so bad with the 3rd for a couple of reasons, 1st because lots of people have two of the same gender in a row, but 3 becomes a pattern and you are forced to realize that you might not ever be able to have a girl. And it also stung hard for me because I knew that meant I would have to try 1 more time (I wanted to be done at 3) but that because my 3rd was a boy my 4th probably would be too. So with the 3rd I really had to work out my GD demons. But now with my 4th most likely being a boy, it still stings a bit when I dwell on the loss of the dream, but I'm truly ok because I already worked it out after Ds3. I hope that makes since. Take all the time you need, it will get better i promise!

I agree with this. I'm lucky to be having a boy after three girls but there's definitely something curative after the third baby of the same gender. For me it was because we all adore her now that she's here and can't imagine not having her. Whilst TTCing this baby we were both able to relax knowing that even if she was a 4th girl there would be no lingering disappointment once we'd met her.

Good news on the blood test results, it came back with history of previous infection which means I was immune when exposed to the virus. They said its nothing to worry about :-)

So I'm finally starting to get a proper bump and not just look fat. I had to push my shirt in so you could see it, because it is a baggy shirt that hides the bump a bit. Maybe my bump finally popped out because I ate like a pig at a friends going away party this afternoon, I don't know, but I'm glad to finally start feeling pregnant! (sorry I should have made my boys beds first lol)

Thank you ladies for the lovely birthday wishes! I know I don't belong on this thread but I follow it avidly.
Sorry to those of you pink swayers who recently heard blue at your scans. It must be such a double-edged sword in that you have a healthy beautiful baby to celebrate, but the reality doesn't tally up with your dream of a girl. I admire you greatly and am trying to glean any nuggets of wisdom in case I hear blue too. Many congratulations to you all though on your babies!
Dltag, you must be thrilled that your dream has come true! Congratulations!
Fish, glad you had a lovely birthday. I spent all morning getting our house ready for a viewing - it's on the market - then spent the afternoon with dh, boys & my parents on the seafront, playing in the amusement arcades and eating candy floss. I love living near the sea but we don't take advantage of it enough. Dh went to work so me & my parents had a Chinese takeaway for tea. It's so freeing not having to count calories and think le anymore!

Congrats Daltag!! Wonderful news! Happy birthday to our birthday girls!
Thorz what a cute little bump! Love the boys bed!
Daltag, you make me want to go find out my gender once and for all!! I was going good there for a couple of wks-throwing myself into house plans and Reno ideas to take my mind off this bubs unknown gender! What I'm thinking of doing is going into work and getting the girls to scan me and put the result in an envelope-that way I have it at home. But I never have to open it if I don't really want to! DH will prob make me just to shit me up!! Haha I totally have a love/hate relationship with not knowing the gender!! It's torture but at the same time I know I'll be disappointed in myself if I found out before bubs arrives. There is something magical about finding out at the delivery, but I fear my GD would be terrible if I found out boy at birth.... Hmmmmm what to do what to do....

Thanks for all the lovely messages girls. All the family know and are so so happy. This little girl will be the first girl to be born in over 80 years on my DH's side so the family are just beaming. My headache theory wasnt all that crazy after all too :D
I'm really panicing about names though, there isnt a single girls name i've found that i like really. DH picked DS2's name and i wasnt keen on it at the time (Ashton) and i thought it would grow on my but it hasnt so i really dont want to do the same thing again.
Oh sorry salsa, i have so much respect for people who wait though. I really cant cope not knowing, i have a huge fear of the unknown so pregnancy is a bit of a minefield for me so finding out just make things that little bit easier for me. I think finding out of the birth would make GD easier as you fall in love the second you see that little bubs but finding out early you can prepare yourself. Would it not be too tempting to find out if you had it written down at home?

I dont know daltag, i chop and change with my theories!! Some days I think just that - GD wont be bad at the birth coz i get to hold him in my arms, but then what if it is really bad? my DS2 birth GD was pretty bad, and this is my last baby so dont want things to cloud the excitement of my last delivery....
But then other days i think we've waited for all 3 babies until delivery we should do the same.
But i know my anxiety about this cant be good for the pregnancy!

Lots of sickness including gastro, tonsillitis and several bouts of the flu. I'm finding it hard to lift, carry, bath etc my other 3 that all need to get in and out of high chairs, car seats, prams and cots. I'm also finding a lot of anxiety about things I never really worried about b4. I'll just be happy and relieved once I have this baby and all turns out healthy. I know I'm going to heamorrage again and am anxious about that.
However, in saying that, now I'm really feeling this baby move on a daily basis, which brings a lot of joy to the pregnancy I'm starting to relax a bit and enjoy it. I went into this thinking i could handle a 5th if this was a boy but i think it was more a way to deal with the gd than anything else. Boy or girl (and i'm hoping they are right its a girl) i'm done either way as long as this one makes it to term safely anyway!
You have lost a dream which will affect your feelings but if you still feel that way and your hubby is behind you then there is nothing to say you can't have a fourth, bigger families are great, i love mine more than i ever thought possible!

He adores having all 3 and soon to be 4but he never envisioned a big family for us. I've always wanted 4 kids and so reguardless of gender I've gotten my dream of 4 which I honestly never thought would happen. I'm enjoying this pregnancy more than any of the others because I am very much at peace and able to relax. I want to savor every moment but also am incredibly excited to move on and enjoy raising our family. We have so many memories to make and I just can't wait to see what the future holds!

Salsa what will be your gap oldest to baby?
Fish - it will be just on 5 yrs. My olderest will turn 5 about 3 weeks before this bubs comes along.
Then the next oldest will be 3 by then, and then my current "baby" will be a month off turning 2.
This will be my biggest age gap between kids though, being on the le diet it took me 8 months to conceive, so we were wanting them closer this time but its still a small enough gap of 23 months.
My other age gaps are 21 months and 16 months.
Its a busy household here lol
fish2012
May 5th, 2013, 01:37 AM
Yeah it took us 8 months this time too i am worried about the bigger age gap I have 16 months between boys and IF we tried again would want similar so I could get 4th in before ds1 was 5 could just about do it! When this one hopefully comes ds1 will be 3 and 8 months and ds2 2 and 3 months so got 7 months to conceive ;-)

I know Fish-that is one of my concerns, but I keep telling my DD that if its another boy we will be the princesses of the house and the boys will all look after us! We'll get to do special girly things like go shopping and go for coffee together when she gets a bit older. Then she said to me "and mum Daddy will have to buy us lots of diamonds too!" I swear I never told her to say that but have to agree that would be nice! Lol
Anyway, with my last baby ds2 she was adamant she wanted a boy and along he came, this time she is pretty set on wanting a girl!
Well I've made a BIG decision. My friend is working on Wed who will discreetly scan me, put the picture in an envelope and give it to me to open at home.... I'm doing it! I'm finding out what I'm having!! FINALLY!! I'm sure you're all sick of me complaining about it-I knows DH certainly is!! Haha so I'm doing it!
DH is away until late wed night so we will open it together either when he gets home or thurs! We aren't telling anyone though, not even family will know. It's just between DH and myself-and of course all you ladies!! Lol I tell you all much more than I do with my family or friends so it will be wonderful to share the news with you ladies. Please don't ever feel that way Salsa, I think gender desire can be just as severe even if you already have a daughter. I know many people feel very strongly that their daughter needs a sister and so it is like you want it not only for yourself, but for her as well.
GD is not about boy vs. girl, it is about getting the family that you dreamed of. for some that may be 6 boys, for others it may be one girl.
No one ever needs to feel funny about wanting a second or third or 10th of the same gender! :) Girls are awesome and it makes sense that you would want another. I was thrilled to ahve a second son because I thought it was great for my eldest to ahve a brother. There are people on here swaying for sisters for their daughters and brothers for their sons (and brothers for sisters and sisters for brothers too of course.)

Daltag what a cute little bump!! I'm huge and at least twice the size of that haha I dreamt last night I was having this baby. Although it was really early, I was only 28wks. The doc said I needed I c section, I was freaking out coz I've had 3 natural deliveries I didn't really want to end it all on a c section (I don't want 2 passage ways ruined!-might as well just stick to the route that's already stuffed!) the doc kept telling me the baby was too big! I was so confused coz it was so early how could baby be too big already?? My last baby was
Nearly 10lb so I do have big babies but wouldn't be at 28wks!! Anyway, I ended up running away in my dream and went shopping for new TV's instead! Lol very random dream all right!
I've been decluttering too and preparing my ds1 room for ds2 to move in soon. So I can then get ds2 out of nursery and get that all set up. If its another boy it will all basically stay the same but if its a girl I've got some ideas I'd love to use! Good luck ladyl, looking forward to your news and cute bump too :D
salsa i have some really crazy dreams about the baby. I keep waking up thinking shes been born and panicing becuase i can find her.
I've weighed myself this morning and i'm slightly worried. I was 7.8 when i found out i was pregnant, went down to 7.0 thanks to morning sickness and this morning when i weighed myself i was 7.6. so really i've only put on 6lb. Might give my midwife a call and ask her if thats ok.

So I had a pretty intense, boarder line graphic dream about my ex last night, I feel guilty now lol! I know it was just a dream, and I can't control those, but why was he in my subconscious in the first place!?!?! Now I've gotta get the dream out of my head! Lol has this happened to anyone else during pregnancy?
Also, I justhada friend give me a hard time because my oldest is still in a 5 point harness cars seat. He is 6.5 years old, and I plan on keeping in one as long as he fits! I just feel they are much safer. I dont want to move him to a booster just because I can! I want him to be the safest possible. Im bothered she gave me a hard time, and made it sound like it was unsafe to be in it, so I looked it up, and nothing I found says its unsafe for him to still bein a 5 point harness. Sometimes people just need to keep their opinions to themselves because that's exactly all it is, her opinion, I found nothing that says he is too big or too old. His height and weight is still below the limit of the seat!!

Thorz it is by far the safest option. Ignore what other people say. Often it is their own insecurities that make them say thoughtless things. I will be keeping my kids in the 5 point harness as long as possible. They are all still of a legal age where it's the law to be in one, but just by turning a certain age doesn't magically make it any more safe just for going into a booster! Stick to your guns, they are your precious babies. No one else's x

Friends are always so judgmental it's annoying! They always think they know best and can't help but push their opinion... I think it's safer to have him in a 5 point... Tell her to concentrate on her own children
I have had sex dreams quite a few times and all with no DH lol... I don't feel too guilty about it... Who knows what skanky trash he dream about lol

Hey so news not clear cut again ;-s the cysts are now very very small! Not totally gone but v small however the gall bladder is slightly enlarged some people think that may be a marker for genetic issues but the professor at my hospital doesn't and the evidence is very limited so kinda positive, they offered us amnio which we refused and they didn't push it - we live by faith and not by sight! Praying were not burying our heads in the sand! Back for follow up in june mainly cause i told them how rubbish my local hospital were at 20 wks I think!
So feeling more positive ;-)
Going to start my healthy eating exercises regime tomorrow ;-) being a bit down has made me pile on the pounds a bit ;-s
Anyone considering a home birth here I was before all the drama of this preggie wondering about now......

Hey fish , I'll have a planned c section this time. Did have with my second too. I would never consider home birth as I'm half hour from hospital and with my first if we hadn't been in hospital don't think he'd be here today! I had perfect pregnancy and up to 4 cm labour , next min his heart rate dropped and there wasn't enough time for epidural so they put me to sleep and got him out within 3 mins. He was pretty bad when u came out, he was pretty stuck in me so they had to use a ventouse on his forehead to gt him out during c section. So for this reason I would never recommend home birth. I know everyone different just my view. What names do u all like? Emmi, Lia , Milli or Elle ..

Well fish, I wish you could have gotten a definite clear answer, but I am very glad the cysts have gotten smaller. Will you have another scan in June? I have NEVER considered a home birth. I know a lot of people, especially on these forums, really like them and have good experiences with them. However, for me, the last place I want to be is home when I give birth. Too many stresses at home, I like to get away and be taken care of for a few days. For me it is a nice little break. Plus as Mel said, I would be way too concerned about something going wrong and not being able to get to the hospital fast enough. It takes about 20 min to get to our hospital, and if something goes wrong, that is 20 min too long. I don't judge others who chose to do home births, I just pray everything goes well for them. For me though, I have no desire to do one.

Oooo fish I'm so happy for your good news! Omg that's aweso!
I wouldn't have a home birth cause the possibility of complications even tho I've had three pretty straight forward births it doesn't mean that the fouth Time will be as well... It just scares the crap out of me!

Ha ha I'd got quiet convinced about a home birth an even convinced dh whose never been keen before but after all this I'm not sure at all, I was ready to push ds2 out at home twenty minutes after my waters broke and contractions started it was the journey from hell so I suppose part of me wants to prepare for that I think I'll probably end up going for midwife lead unit where I had ds's they were so lovely and the consultants are only round the corner ;-) hoping for water birth as tears bad last time!
Thorz yes will be another scan!
Ps they said today defo a girl you could see and that's good as not had confirmation since 18 wks and was getting bit nervous

I am def going to have a emergency home birth kit ready as ds 2 was a 30 min labour
Has anyone been thinking of other thing like the VIt K and eye drops and cord clamping?
I delayed cord clamping with ds3 and it was so peaceful when he was born it was awesome! I will be doing that again for sure

Fish glad you got good news, just wish it was all the news for you. I thought about a home birth but i tore quite badly with DS2 and i have a feeling the same thing will happen again so will only end up in hospital anyway so i'm also going to a birth centre where DS2 was born (ended up being transfered to another hospital though to be stiched up as they couldnt do it at the birth centre). Would also love a water birth as i tried for one with DS2 but he wasnt hanging around and they didnt get chance to run the bath. I have a feeling i might have an unplanned home birth as DH works 30min away (on a good day) and the hospital is a 40min drive. I'm so so worried about it :nails:

Fish, that sounds pretty positive re the cysts. I had a fantastic water birth with DD2, she was posterior and it really helped with the pain. DD3 was a section so hoping for a VBAC. I have mixed feelings about home birth- I completely accept the stats that say for second plus births for low risk women it's very safe but we're very medicalised through our jobs so even though I like the idea at some levels it wouldn't really be an option. Plus, like Thorz, I'm looking forward to a few days rest.
Thorz, I had a fine old shout at the big girls last night. They don't hold grudges! It was DH's fault though (lol) as I was expecting him home to help with dinner, bath etc but he'd got the dates of a meeting wrong and had to stay at work. This isn't a problem usually but normally I prepare for it with a low effort meal etc so I was left scrambling. And the big girls were tired after school and grouchy with each other and I was sick of the squabbling.

We don't do the eye drop thing in uk sounds odd to me ;-) vitamin k we will do, with ds1 we left the cord for as long as possible which was nice ds2s cord was so short he only came to my belly button so they had to cut it ;-s was fine but then I had just found out he was a he ;-s

Mel I agree with you on the hospital delivery. I heard loads of horror stories about home birth that I wouldn't dare. Supisingly I feel relaxed and at ease in the hospital knowing it's all in there just in case of an emergency.

So hard to think of names. Always had one which was Ella Mae that's been the name since me and hubby got together at 16. Since then Ella has become really popular in my area and lots of people I know have chosen it which is disappointing. It's so hard to pick another name, so that's where Elle comes from. If this little ones turns out to be a boy I'll be even more stuck I struggled to name my second son! Anybody chosen names yet?

I was home the same day after DD2 but we've got private cover now and I think you get four days after a normal delivery. Which is far too long but a few days will be nice given that it'll be full on when we're back home. I'm really hoping not to have a section this time as the recovery time was a pain. DD3 was completely transverse and my labour just wasn't going anywhere. We were given the option of a trial of turning her but chose a section cos we didn't want to risk the (small) chance of a cord prolapse.

Im dead set for hospital deliveries personally. It is such a personal decision, but I am medically trained, and know too much about what can go wrong in a blink of an eye. If I'd had my last at home, I wouldnt be here today. I bleed out badly and quickly - after such an easy delivery it was all panic stations afterwards to try and control my bleeding.
I have been told by the specialist it will happen again this time, so not only do I want to be in hospital - I want another induction so I dont have the panic of it happening at home if I go into labour. I too have very quick labours and wouldnt want to risk it. Fortunately I have such big babies my Doc is always wanting me to be induced early anyway. The last 2 times Ive held out to at least 40weeks, but still needed inductions (first time my waters broke at home and I spontaneously went into labour on my own) so this time I'll be happy to be induced a week or 2 early.
I had to have a little giggle about the comment about looking forward to having a break in hospital!! I CANT WAIT for my few days off!! Only 1 child to look after - that will hopefully just sleep most of the time, at least he/she wont be chewing my ear off lol
Meals brought to me.... relaxing in bed with my DH and newborn! CANT WAIT :running:
My amazing Mum has my kids whilst Im in the hospital - my DH boards in with me - which is such a nice time for us to spend together with just the baby before heading home to chaos lol Mum will bring the kids in each morning to see us which will be nice as I know I'll miss them!
