Salsa that is so exciting!! I am not sure how you are able control yourself from looking at the envelope. Looking forward to your update.
Fish so glad that the cysts are getting smaller. That is such good news and congrats on a girl!
As far as a home birth there is no way I would have one. DH works in the ER and I have heard one too many horrific stories about babies and bleeding Moms that didn't end well. Plus DS1 had the cord wrapped around his neck twice and we wouldn't have known if it weren't for a HR monitor. He was born by emergency C-section and was blue when born. It really scared the crap out of me. I didn't get to see him for almost 9 hours and it was the worst and longest 9 hours ever.
I chose to have a C-section the second time around because I couldn't go though that again. I will have a C-section with this one also because I don't care about my recovery, all I care about is having a healthy baby that I can have in my room right after birth. I think people forget how many babies and Mom's died before the days of hospital birth. For me it isn't worth it. To anyone having a home birth I wish them a great experience and hope nothing goes wrong. It just isn't for me. I am not the type to really worry about things going wrong but when it comes to giving birth I don't think I could relax and enjoy it at home, I just know too much from first hand experience how things can go from completely normal to crazy, chaotic, and life threatening in the blink of an eye.

I was home the same day after DD2 but we've got private cover now and I think you get four days after a normal delivery. Which is far too long but a few days will be nice given that it'll be full on when we're back home. I'm really hoping not to have a section this time as the recovery time was a pain. DD3 was completely transverse and my labour just wasn't going anywhere. We were given the option of a trial of turning her but chose a section cos we didn't want to risk the (small) chance of a cord prolapse.
This ones transverse at moment but they say its too early to worry....

Salsa cant wait for your update, how exciting :D
Names are a sore point in this house a the min. We are so sure we would be having a boy, bump has been baby Oakley since 6 weeks pregnant. Now we know we are having a girl the names gone out the window. I'm really panicing about finding a name i love as there seems to be none, i've gone through every baby name website on the net and nothing.
Wow your hospitals sound amazing. I was in hospital for 3 days with DS1 and it was honestly the worst 3 days of my life. With DS2 i was in overnight (he was born at 6pm so couldnt really go home at that time) and i was running out of the hospital the next day. You dont get looked after, just chucking in a room and poked and prodded every now and again. I didnt eat for 3 days with DS1 and i didnt even get offered anything to eat for the 18 hours i was in with DS2. All i can say is thank god my DH was there.

I'm feeling really nervous about my 20 week scan! It's a week today ! Had a scan at 17.5 confirmed girl, I'm so worried it will have grown bits next time and turned into a boy. Do u think there's any chance that could have happened?
I'm struggling with names too , so hard to agree on a name, especially when u never thought u would be lucky enough to have a little girl!

Daltag that was my experience too with ds1 hence my desire to get out ASAP ;-) must be good old nhs for you!
Have to say they have been fantastic with all these issues thou, when I saw twins consultant I said I didn't want to stay in and told her why and she admitted post natal was their lowest priority and first place to loose staff to other places which I do understand but I shall be aiming not to be in for long!

Gorgeous pics southern!! I'll get one more ultrasound at 32 wks to check my low lying placenta. I've had this for all 4 pregnancies. But placenta had always moved up and out of way. This is right of the cusp of their cut off so won't be a prob, I've had placentas closer to my cervix previously. Will be a nice chance to see her again! Hoping no boy bits suddenly grow in the next 2 months! I'm the worst for doubting things when things are good-have to keep looking at my scan pic and telling myself they are convincing girl pics!! I still won't completely relax until she is born and I know for sure! That being said I've already bought some pink things today! Lol

Love the stickers salsa, we are hoping to do something similar for the nursery. Going to wait till after my next scan at 26 weeks tho just to be sure. I've also bought some girly clothes, cant wait till they get here.
Im on a huge downer today. Car had its MOT yesterday and they told us it buggered and prob wont last 6 months and theres no fixing it. We really cant afford another one but cant really live without one so looks like we might have to take a loan out. It always seems we get some good news and then some bad news. Poor DH is ruined over it as we had just got ourselves dept free. Sorry for the moan but its really put the excitement of our little girl on a back seat and now we have to sort this mess out :tissue:

Hi. I am due on 1st September so am currently 8 weeks. I seem to be the only one here with lots of girls hoping for a boy.
I have my first appointment tomorrow with the doctor and have decided I am going to ask about a CVS as I will be just about to turn 40 when I have this little one.
Anyone else analysing symptoms to try and figure out what they're having?

Abigail was on our short list for DD2 and DD3. We've tended to have a short list of 2-3 names then waited till they're born.
I'm finding a name for a boy much harder.
Had a lovely normal anatomy scan this morning which was reassuring. He was measuring about right so I've no excuse for having such a huge bump

We are calling this little girl Darcey. Its a name I have loved for years and years and years, after my favourite ballerina Darcey Bussell (im sure I mentioned this, but I used to be a professional ballet dancer)
I cant believe I'll finally get my Darcey.
Middle name is Lyn - both grandmothers names are Lyn, so thought we'd honour them as both grandfathers have been used with the boys middle names.

Yeah finding it impossible picking a girls name. The boys names were so easy. DS1's name i had picked from being a little girl (Taylor) and DH picked DS2's name (Ashton) but i dont really like it, never have but i let DH have his way, i wanted him to be called Mason. So i really dont want the same thing to happen this time.
Evie is very popular im the UK too and its really putting me off. We were so sure we were having a boy bump has been Oakley since i was 6 weeks pregnant. Its so hard when you dont fall in love with a name. I've read every baby name book and every site on the net and nothing has really jumped out at me.

Hi ladies...
I haven't been on here for quite a while, I was soooo exhausted I couldn't write anything. I don't know why, but all this preperation for Noahs birthday and the birthday itself was a little too much for me. I never saw this coming, I was so so tired and exhausted all the time now. Finally, today I am feeling human again, lol.
Salsa, congratulations for hearing pink!! What did your kids say? I bet your daughter is very excited as well! I LOVE that sticker in your nursery!!! Really beautiful!!
Oh I love names  Although we are having a hard time picking one out as well, lol. Names are so different over here, we are simply not allowed (socially not allowed at least, lol) to pick "only English" names. Unfortunately. Because we also want to emigrate some day, but of course nothing is set in stone yet, so we have to be a little careful. Right now, we are thinking of Mona Sophie. Not sure yet though, because Mona almost sounds like Noah... maybe. Mh.
Southern, what a great 3D picture of your little boy! So so cute!! You must be staring at it all day long, lol. So sweet!! :HH:

Longing - we havent told the kids!! We are keeping it a suprise from everyone - except you ladies of course! We dont want anyone knowing we found out, so figured it was wise not to tell the kids as they would be sure to blurt it out at some point to someone! lol
So right now, its a fun little secret we have, which makes me smile everytime I think about her.
Mona is pretty, I like it!

Congrats Salsa! I knew from your early scan pics this was your girl. Your gender shots are so clear and convincing. Mine were nothing like it! No lines, just absence of boy parts.

I am stuck with girls names too. Maybe Emma or Ella. I still don't quite believe this is actually happening for me.

Love the name ideas, Kiera, Scarlett, Mona
are very pretty. My boys have slightly unusual names so we want to keep it consistent. I thought of Ingrid, Ava or Amelia. My DH is not happy with any of these so I guess we will have to wait a week before due date and then he will have to compromise as we did with both boys.

In the first trimester there was a day I would have killed for fish and chips and I don't eat fish

My other pregs my only craving was vinager and ice at the end

I had cravings quite early with my boys, first one was for coco pops and milkshake, second son a soap called 'coal tar' bit odd I know! I use to carry it around everywhere sniffing it.
This time I've had nothing at all, gone off meat. To be honest I don't really fancy anything! Looking forward to get some cravings!

Fish I felt similar, chips (I don't normally eat) and avocado the first trimester, now salads with vinegary dressing and home made popcorn which is becoming my second dinner these days :-) I might make some now.

I'm obsessed with avocado!
Salsa
May 10th, 2013, 09:37 PM
Fish-avocado is sooooooo good for you!! Eat up!! Apparently you can survive on just eating avocado-it's full of sooooo many good things for your body! I personally cannot stand the stuff! Lol
Lately I've been craving wine! Lol a bad one-I don't drink a drop while pregnant, just a commitment I make to myself, as I usually love a glass or 2 over dinner. The other preg I haven't even thought about it, but I don't know if I'm just more tired and stressed with the other 3 munchkins I find myself really looking for some at the end of the night!! I have to settle for apple cider-which I actually am really loving too so it's not too bad!
I too have totally gone off red meat, I'll eat chicken and a bit of fish (not seafood just a piece of fish) but cannot stomach a steak - so trying to increase my spinach etc to keep my iron up!
Thanks queen bee, the sonographer said they were very convincing gender pics, I don't know why I still have a little doubt-I'm sure it's just coz I've wanted this for so long and worked so hard for it I don't actually believe its happening!!
Yes I was thinking the same about Thorz- but I know her mum is with her so maybe she is just a bit more busy?? I think her scan is thurs-I so hope she updates us all! Doesn't feel right without her on here the last few days. Also Diva hasn't been on in a whole but think she is still visiting home??
And who do we have on wed getting their scan?? Then is that it??
Now what are we going to obsess about lol.... Names-names is a good one!! We can obsess over that lol

May 10th, 2013, 10:21 PM
Salsa I've been craving wine too! I don't drink at all when pregnant either and I can't remember missing it with the others but I do this time.
I have never really had any cravings except with DD2 when I was massively into drinking milk. I had an ARM with her and it was tricky and the midwife said it's common to get hard to rupture membranes in big milk drinkers.
Is anyone else so busy with family life they forget they're pregnant? Weekends are full on and I often forget about it until I bend over or sit down.

Spent 4 hours at emergency this morning with DS2 who helped himself to Miller Harris (perfume) this morning. I was with him when it happened but he was too quick. We were told he will be fine, he probably didn't drink too much of it. Now sitting in the hospital feeling guilty especially after DH comment that they will send social services on us, which I thought was a ridiculous comment. Surely these things must happen all the time.

They prob will send social services! It's ridiculous! When ds3 had his accident with his eye the dr called.... And then he told me that it wasn't an accident and I punched my 5 month old in the face! I was livid... However my social service worker was quite awesome and she was literally in my house for 5 seconds to see where he fell and then left... She talked to me a lot at the hospital and she talked to ds1 as well asking questions about me and DH
Funny thing is my friend has taken her daughter to the hospital for crazy things and has never been called on...
I find it ridiculous that they phone every chance they get cause I think that it will scare a lot of parents into getting proper care! I remember when I took ds3 to the hospital and I called my mom and she yelled at me cause they are gonna cal them on me... I ask what should I have done kept him home?! I was so mad at her... I guess she didnt understand how serious the injury was... Funny cause she is a social worker....

Thanks girls, little one is totallly fine, they said he chose more natural perfume to drink, but I have a feeling he didnt drink too much. And thats the problem, did we panic too quickly? I'd rather have these things checked than be sorry later. They said a Health visitor will come round, but did they just try to cover up the social service referal? I am furious as these things happen to many of us and they just make me feel like I am not good enough mum despite the fact I always tried so hard to do everything properly. There is bound to be another incident with 3 children at some point in the future and what will happen then?

Some paeds departments (in Aussie and nz anyway) have a policy that all ingestions have social worker follow up. They're aware that most of the time there's no issue, I wouldn't take it personally.
Wanting-a-girl
May 12th, 2013, 08:43 PM
You won't have any issues so don't worry about it it will just be a check up and then ur file would be closed any ways so def don't stress about it
WantingPink
May 13th, 2013, 12:01 AM
I can't believe that there is social work follow up for accidental ingestion. It was perfume and you were right there and knew how much he had. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that social services wouldn't show up for that here. I don't think I know anyone who has had social services visit them. I wouldn't stress about it much Girlsway especially since it is done for all ingestion. Just make sure your kids are clean, the house is clean, the laundry is done, etc. I am sure they will come and see there is nothing to worry about and move on.

Aw thorz your bump looks tiny, love the skirt too. I'd love to wear something like that but its way too cold here (plus i'm only 5'0 so look silly in long skirts). Its lovely though :)
Both my waters went but both were very different. With DS1 they went gradually over about 6 hours (my whole labour) and it felt like i was peeing myself the entire time and with DS2 they went pop right before he was born.
I'm so so scared about the birth this time too. I had an episomoty with DS1 and a bad 2nd degree tear with DS2 so i know whats coming this time. I didnt have any pain relief with either boys (apart from paracetomol with DS2) but being stiched up was so much worse than the births so this time i'm doing EVERYTHING i possiby can to stop tearing but i'm really not looking forward to it. I'm thining past it though and thinking about bringing the baby home.
Sorry to drop by uninvited, but i saw your worries about tearing. Recently a collegue of mine gave birth to her first and the shoulders kept stuck and they tried a lot of things to get the baby out; legs besides the ears, they put her on hands and knees, and eventually broke the subclavian of the baby to pul him out.
I thought she would have had a tear at least or a episiotomy, but nothing! Her midwife recommended to use 'epi-no' because results were promising. And although it is anecdotical evidence, i think it is worth looking it up. Here's a link http://www.epino.nl/PDF/first_clinical1_2.pdf

You would think! I see real homes that they REALLY should be visiting! Omg my friend who lives 10 hours away from me has a friend and she got in a domestic dispute and he punched her in the face so she hit him and ran to call the cops... Well social services took the kids away from her and gave them to him! This happen like 3-4 months ago she gets to see her kids once a month ... She has a court date at the end of this month finally but how does this happen! The visits where she sees the kids there is a social worker watching and sitting in and the kids have both said during visits that their dad is hitting them and they come hungry and dirty! And they do nothing! This is the only horror story that I know of and it sickens me cause the kids should be with their mother cause she is a good mom and was only protecting herself!

I have only had reflux with one of the four pregnancies (not this one) and thus far she was the only baby born with thick hair! I know the reflux = baby with hair thing is just an OWT but it amused DH that it was right for us.
I have a really gross varicose vein on my left thigh-it came up last time but thankfully went away after the pregnancy so hopefully it'll go away again.

Ok ladies I have a name question for you! What do you do when DH doesnt agree with the name you are set on? I mean we have obviously been through this since he hated tons of names I proposed(but not loved) with our girls, but this time is different! I found the name I loved for my DS and then decided to try for him! Lol..I mean I am set on this name and will not even look at other names! He has said he isnt really a fan of it because the name is Harland and he thinks ppl will call him Harley for short and he doesnt like that. I dont even want to talk to him about it cuz I get so upset that he doesnt love it! So I guess my question is do I just hope he will come around to it over then next 4 months or just pull the "this was my idea, I swayed and Im carrying him/birthing him" card lol and be ok with the idea that he could dislike our sons name forever! What did you ladies do when you had a name you absolutely loved and DH didnt or vice versa? I just dont think I can let this one go!
fish2012
May 14th, 2013, 02:43 PM
My ds2 is Noah I loved this name we had others we both liked Benjamin and Daniel (but for family reasons his middle name is Samuel which for me ruled out daniel oddly not for dh!) dh wasn't convinced by Noah and I thought he'd end up as Ben which I was okay with he arrived in half an hour after I called dh to come home ten minutes after arriving at hospital so dh had parked on their red lines (nearly missed birth as stupid midwife nearly sent him to move it I may have sworn at her ;-( as he left five minutes after birth to move the car midwife said to me does he have a name and I looked at dh and he said Noah, he now loves it and couldn't imagine him as a Ben!
I'd say quietly hold your ground try and find a middle ground name you can both agree on maybe come up with another shortening or nick name to suggest to your dh if that's his only worry about the name and hold your nerve and pray for the labour room buzz to win out!
I think with most men if you push too hard they really dig heels in I'd save that for when he's born if you need it ;-)

4Giffins i would keep trying to persuade your DH and dont go with a name you dont love. DS2 is called Ashton and from day 1 DH said he wanted to call him this, i wanted Mason. I said i liked Ash and we couldnt agree on anything else so he ended up being called Ashton and still to this day i dont like his name. I said when he was born, oh it will grow on me and it didnt.
Could your DH pick the middle name maybe. This time i wanted to call this baby Oakley Luca Thomas, DH didnt like Luca or Thomas so i agreed to do a thing called "danny month" (DH's name) where he got everything he asked from off me and in return i could have the names i wanted. Anyway we did "danny month" so i could have the names and now we are having a girl so back to square 1 :hair:
I would say stick your ground too and dont give up on the name.
Omg WAG how scary, theres some crazy people out there. Makes you wonder what on earth goes through their heads when they can do such a thing.

DLTAG I have suggested that he choose the middle name and call him that if he would like. I think that is a good compromise! Im sure we can come to some sort of agreement but Im so scared to even bring it up for the possibility of him shooting it down! I really wont let it go and dont want to have to turn it into a fight! The one night we briefly discussed it he brought up the nick name thing and kind of turned his nose up..I got mad and wouldnt talk to him the rest of the night and havent brought it up since! I need to get a backbone instead of just pouting about it!!
WAG..Im glad you dont let anyone influence your decision on names! Our names are a little different too(Fallan and Haven) but unfortunitely I always worry about what ppl think and let that influence my decision! So if I am set on a name and know I love it no matter what I dont tell anyone! I know I would get a few ppl turning their nose up at it and it would make me second guess our choice so usually we dont tell anyone before we have the baby! Of course Im always a little worried about ppl stealing it as well! Lol

I have let him have the final say in all the other 3 boys names and this time, I didin't get my girl, so I am naming this guy what ever I want! I know that sounds harsh but DH has had the final say in with the first 3 boys and always used the excuse that I would have the final say when we had a girl. Well it looks like that isn't gonna happen so this is my final baby and I AM PICKING THE NAME. (although with all the other boys names, they were names that I picked and DH just liked them and then wouldn't budge after settling on the one he liked from the ones I suggested).

I'm not sure about names either. We have quite conservative names for the girls (Lucy, Matilda and Violet) but they're not currently "top 10" names either. DH has a relatively common name now but 30 odd years ago it was less so and he says he hated it and wants this baby to have something solid and standard. I don't hate his suggestions, they're just a bit boring. I think we'll get it down to a short list and negotiate thereafter. I think with some men as well (my DH included) the pregnancy doesn't feel real until the baby is nearly born and they don't always understand our need to get things sorted NOW!
Thorz, I know this is the last thing you need to hear but I do think there's still a good chance you're carrying a girl.

Mum23 Lucy is a great name (its mine) so you have great taste. I love violet too. Me and both DH have really common names (Lucy and Danny) and went through our school life as Lucy H and Danny G so i'm trying to stay away from popular names as but the only one me and DH both seem to like is Evie which is sooo popular at the min. So she might end up being know as Evie G for her school life. I would have loved to have a bit more of an uncommon name and tried to do the same for the boys so they wouldnt have this problem.
This naming lark is hard work!

Ok ladies, I'm struggling!!! I guess I just need to hear that it is normal for me to feel this way. I have 2 of my closest friends who are pregnant right now too one of them is having her baby next week and the other is due 2 weeks before me. Anyhow both of my friends are very heavy set girls normally and I don't have an issue with that, I love them they are my dearest friends, but I find myself comparing my pregnancy weight gain to theirs. The one who is having her baby next week has only gained 12 lbs TOTAL and the other who is due Sept 15 has gained 0 lbs!!!! I know they don't mean to rub it in, but they seem to always be bragging about it and keep asking me, and what about you, how much have you gained??? I guess I shouldn't care. I am already pushing 12 lbs and I am really struggling with it!!! I know deep down it has a lot to do with my starting weight, because I am 5'5 and I got down to 100 lbs when I was doing the LE diet, so if you go by that then I have already gained 27 lbs YIKES!! But for my sanity, I am going by my average weight before I started the LE diet which was 115 lbs ugh either way, I feel like I am packing on the lbs and I really really need to stop comparing myself to my friends who haven't gained ANYTHING. But I guess it is just human nature. The reason I care so much is because I got absolutely HUGE with my last pregnancy, so much so that I wouldn't even look at the scale, so I don't know my total weight gain with that pregnancy.....I know it was more than 50 lbs. I was on bed rest for 5 months so I know that had a lot to do with it. I am on the verge of bed rest again!!! I am terrified of getting as big as I did last time. With my 1st two pregnancies, I gained the average 25 lbs, and I am ok with gaining 25-35 lbs but really really don't want to gain more than that. It's just so hard when you are on bed rest and can't move, and still have the same cravings and hunger a normal pregnant woman has!!!! Thanks for letting me vent!!!

My overweight friend didnt gain any weight so when she had her baby she was less than her start out... You can't compare to over weight people cause their weight gain expectations are a lot different than average people... Don't drive yourself crazy with that... Can't wait for your u/s sooooooo excited!

Just tell them you havnt weighed yourself... I actually put my scale in my closet so I'm too lazy to get it out to weigh myself so I only get to see at the drs.... It was soooo shocking last month when I gained 7lbs in that month! My next appt is next thurs and I'm pretty scared to see what the scale has to say...

I agree with wag. I think girls only ask those questions to fuel their own insecurities. We all have insecurities. Weight being one that I'd say every girl has an issue with. Regardless of your size. We all want to be thinner, taller, more toned-whatever it may be. I have some friends that look amazing whilst pregnant. Only put on baby bump and once they've had baby they are back to normal size by the time they leave hospital. I'm normally a very slim person, but for whatever reason I balloon out while pregnant. It takes me close to 8-12months to slowly shed the weight. I always manage to get back to pre pregnancy weight (through a lot of hard work) but I get there between all my pregnancies. I tune out to those around me, I focus on knowing I am doing what is needed to grow a big healthy baby inside me. I then also have plenty of milk when I breast feed and don't jeopardise my supply by dieting once I've had the baby. It always comes off but so very slowly. Just focus on the big picture. Do what is needed to keep that baby growing beautifully. And every body's body will function differently. You shed the weight last time and you will do again
Ps-super excited about your scan!!! The day has finally come!! I too will be sleeping so look forward to the news when I'm up!!
Hope you get a pic to upload for us! x

Thorz- I'm really struggling with my weight gain as well. Like you I started out very underweight so I keep trying to remind myself I needed the extra pounds but its still so hard. If I go by my normal average weight then I've gained about 18lbs but going by my true starting weight I'm already up 35lbs at only 23 weeks! I always get down to my pre pregnancy size but it gets harder after each baby and I worry about it after this one.
As for your friends I agree with WAG and Salsa, I think they are trying to make themselves feel better by asking and I think telling them you just don't weigh yourself during pregnancy is a great way to make them stop asking.
Thinking of you today, can't wait for your update later!!

Thorz, It is so hard when your closest friends are the ones that really enjoy your misery! I have a few like that too and even if they dont mean to be that way everything is always a competition! I think the other girls are right, maybe try just avoiding the topic all together. Or depending on how annoyed you get with hearing the remarks you might just kindly remind them of your starting weight when getting pregnant!! :)
WAG, at my appointment Tuesday I had gained 7lbs in the last month as well! Eeek...its always hard gaining weight no matter how much! Specially right now since we are only half way! I have only gained 20 lbs each in my previous pregnancies and Im already at 9 this time! Im actually excited to be pregnant through the summer though cuz I hope to stay pretty active!

I've gained tonns I think it was the release from Le combined with feeling better after 13wks MS and a bit of depression about stressful pregnancy I never way myself in pregnancy bubba is number one its insecurity if they're keepin on tbh they are probably just delighted for once they are relatively trimer than you - ignore I I suspect in a yrs time you'll be back in your jeans and they won't

Thorz that's a gorgeous crib. My little one will be in the same cot all my other 3 have used. It's still in great condition and I'm moving ds2 out of it next wk. he'll b moving into ds1 room and for now into a portacot until he is a bit older and ready for the bunk bed ds1 is currently sleeping in!
I wanted ds2 moved out of nursery a little while before baby arrives so everyone is used to their new set ups! It'll be the first time the boys share a room so will be interesting!
Also then that means I can get stuck into decorating nursery all pink and put away the blue stuff! Exciting times!

Thorz that cot is so cute. I really wanted a white cot this time but with having magnolia walls it will really clash so we are buying a new birch sort of coloured one and draws too. I've been throwing myself into "decorating" the nursery (been looking at wall stickers, curtains and that sort of thing as we cant paint). Cant wait to start buying some little bits for her room, exciting stuff. Its currently a play room for the boys so really is a blank canvas.
Only problem is i dont know if we will be living here rented, living here owned or living somewhere else owned buy the time shes born so i need to wait as long as possible to do anything.
I'm also bidding on a car seat on ebay at the min, fingers crossed a win :D

Thorz was your friend told boy or girl during the ultra sound? There is a lot going on down there and there is a lot of space between the back of the bottom and the three lines, whereas your daughter (and yes she is a girl) her bits look like they are in the right place. There are also two sets of arrows on the boy shot and a lot of shadowing going on and it looks like there maybe a bit of the cord mixed in down there - but you could always post in the u/s forum. Pics are great BUT they are spilt second image, the tech will have seen your little girl from lots of angles during the scan to make that call, my boys were the same as yours - obvious at that stage!

So she was told boy during the scan? I am sure this is just a weird shot then. The u/s tech probably saw something more convincing than this to say boy.
Thorz I totally know where you are coming from... being in disbelief. There are only boys on my side and DH side of the family. DH hasn't had a girl in his family since his Grandfather (so my kids great-grandfather) so everyone is in a little disbelief right now. It took me a DNA test and three scans before I actually started to belief and buy girl things. I even have bought purple paint for the nursery. I can totally understand where you are coming from being told boy and then girl. Your girl shots are from several different angles and like you said, your boys (and mine too) were very obvious boys at 20 weeks. You deserve to be able to relax and start planning for a girl!! You could always call up the place you got the 15 week scan from and go in for another scan. I know it probably feels too good to be true:)

I never had a potty shot so I have now forgotten what I did see on the day of my scan. I also keep thinking that sometimes they get it wrong and I'm so scared that will happen to me! Be nice to relax and enjoy it, I'm just scared to do it!

Wanting, I agree, that is phenomenal!
Thorz, your friend's scan has two "parts" to it that make it not typically girl. There're the three lines close to the body but then a further protrusion anterior to that which are also imaging as three lines. It's a weird shot though. Anyway, your scan is a million percent girl (trust me, I KNOW girls' scans).
Mel, I am enormous as well. People are beginning to look surprised when they ask and I say I'm only 20 weeks, I seriously look about 30. The same thing happened with DD3 though and I evened out by the third trimester. My ob only weighs women if she's concerned about something so I think from now on I'm going to try to eat well, exercise and stay off the scales. I always get it off afterwards but it's a pain and doesn't tend to shift until I start running again (but I love to run so it's no hardship).

Same here. I've had lots of people asking how long I've got left, like I'm just about to give birth! Think it must be the more kids you have the earlier we show. Has anybody brought baby stuff?

We have been buying a few bits now we know if to buy blue or pink. Not bought loads tho, just incase. We have another scan in a few weeks so when its been confirmed (again) we are having a girl i'm going to finish buying.
So far we've got a car seat (but thats good for a boy or girl). A baby bath and towels, a few clothes and . . . SOME DRESSES!! :running:
Can i ask tho, how much newborn clothes is everyone buying? DS1 was 6.7 and DS2 was 7.11 and i've heard girls are smaller so dont know what to buy as DS2 didnt even go into newborn where as DS1 was in tiny baby and newborn until he was 2 months old.

My ds3 was 8 10 and only fit newborn for a a couple days and then 0-3 until he was a month... He didn't lose any weight after birth and went from 8 10 to 24 pound in 5 months! And I spent a lot on his clothes and thank god a kept them all cause we are quite financially strained ATM so i wouldn't be able to get loads of nice stuff from scratch.... Although I have spends a few hundred on clothes already for the new little guy :s I have baby shopping issues lmao and a baby blanket addiction lol

OMG WAG that is scary and awful!!
I still haven't dared buy anything girly yet. I did get started on a rug for the nursery though, if this baby ends up being a boy I can just untie the pink and add blue or green. This rug is gonna take a lot of time and fabric! Good thing the baby won't be here for awhile! 11333

I want one too! Tell us how to make it, where do u get the stuff t make it from?
Thorz300
May 20th, 2013, 06:23 PM
Yep I just buy the fabric, cut it into strips and tie it on the non slip rug mat. It's really easy but time consuming and it takes a lot of fabric so make sure to get a lower cost fabric if price is an issue.

That looks great Thorz. I haven't bought anything yet, I tend to not buy anything for the baby until 35 weeks as I'm a bit superstitious about it. We'll need a new double stroller though and a new car so that's enough! Our current car can be converted to a seven seater but then we lose the boot which isn't practical.
I don't think I'll go over the top with clothes though, it's not really my "thing". All my DDs mainly wore leggings, shorts or long pants when they were little as they're much easier to crawl, toddle or climb in. The big girls still prefer shorts or jeans when they're playing although they do love to get dressed up now for parties etc.

I had what i think was the worst heartburn ever last night. Came on about 30mins after eating tea and stayed till about 9.30pm. Pretty sure it was heartburn but never remember it being so bad with the boys. Having a really tough time with food this pregnancy :(
Is anyone else really really tired all the time too, i thought during the 2nd trimester you are supposed to be feeling all rosey and bushy tailed but i just want to sleep.

My pelvic bone is hurting too especially if I have to sit at my desk for too long. When I stand up from sitting it really hurts and I can't walk properly. Does anyone have that?

I have hip dysplasia so I know exactly how you feel! My pain is actually in my butt lol but it hurts so bad to sit or stand or walk or anything really but the absolute worst is going from sitting to standing. Sorry you are in pain! We are over the half way mark though yay!

Is anyone having a baby shower? I never had one with DD2 since I already had everything from DD1 and I know it used to be that ppl only had them with their first born. Though, Seems now days everyone I know has them for each pregnancy no matter the gender or number of previous children! One of my good friends want to throw a shower for me since we are having a boy this time but Im not sure if I should or not! DH says it will make me look greedy! Lol..Besides I have already bought so much, with 4 months still to go I dont know if I will need anything else by then!

I'm having one! My friend is throwing it for me. Here we have one for our first born of each gender or if more than 8 years has passed between two of the same gender! I'm so very excited to finally have a girl baby shower!! For so many years I would leave girl showers in tears until finally I stopped going all together and would just give gift cards! Now I can start going to them again with out tears! Yay!
