I can't WAIT To get rid of all the boy clothes I've been hanging on to for almost 7 years now!!! They have gone through at least 3 boys, but most of them were hand me downs so actually they have been through at least 4 boys! If this little one is still a girl at my scan next Thursday, I will get rid of 3 storage tubs of boy clothes and shoes, everything 18 months and under is GONNA BE GONE the day I confirm girl! And then as soon as DS 3 grows out of things....they'll finally be gone too! Hooray!

Here's to hoping she didn't grow a penis between last scan and the one next week!

I did the same thing Thorz! One of my friends is having a boy and she already has a girl so at my 20 week scan I packed up all the boy stuff and give it to her and she gave me her girl stuff. I am hoping she will want to continue to do that as long as possible. I ended up giving her three big boxes of clothes and I have more for her.

Yay yay yay! I'm so excited!!! I have all but convinced myself this is a boy with a hidden penis!!! I have been obsessing over wrong gender horror stories, and have spent hours Online looking at ultrasound pics! I feel like Im going mad!! I started getting depressed about it! I finally decided to call the private place that told me boy in the first place, what is the worst they could do, tell me NO.??! So what!! I called and now I get a free rescan TOMORROW! And to top it all off, DH has the day off!! I'm so happy! I can't wait to have this girl dream confirmed or If I see a penis, then I will know for certain!!!

I had a baby shower for my first. But here you don't tend to do more than one. I don't really have the need for one. I've bought so much already. And what I haven't bought I don't need to as it will be handed down from my last baby. They are good fun though! If your friend wants to throw you one go for it!

Thorz thats super exciting!! Show us the pics!
Im going to try and hold out for my 32wk scan to get my confirmation of my confirmation!! I doubt other people stress this much about girls turning into boys!! lol
Ive done a fair bit to the nursery today so if this ends up being a boy, the poor thing will get a complex, with all the pink around him!

WAG, hope everything's ok.

I'm the first of my immediate family to have children so I'll hold onto lots of the girls' old clothes, I'm one of four so someone will need it eventually. We're definitely not having any more though!

Thorz, I'm sure you'll hear girl again.

I'm so tired! I have good weeks and then weeks like this week where I could curl up and snooze at 4pm. It's unfortunate that at that time I need to organise homework, bring in the washing and cook.

Finally I received the call from health visitor. I actually knew her as she came to see both of my boys after they were born. She is a lovely lady just wanted to know DS2 (perfume drinker) was ok. It was obvious she just had to call but we had a relaxed chat about children, no visit has to be paid. I will see her again when this little one born. I am so releaved it wasn't social services!

Yay Thorz! So exciting.

For all you ladies with two or three of the same, was your DG different to the children you've had or did you just want to experience the opposite gender?

I always wanted a daughter and only really started to want a boy when we learned DD3 was also a girl. I think little boys are gorgeous too and would have been happy with boys but if I'd only had one I'd have had a girl preference. This is not in any way being disparaging of little boys but I'd always seen myself as having a daughter.

Wanting-a-girl
May 23rd, 2013, 08:46 PM
If I had to choose one gender I would have chosen boy

I went to the hospital today and am now on bed rest not strict just take it easy no lifting... My swab was neg for pre term labour so he should stay put but it's still a risk... No dilation but my cervix is super soft and low

Thorz300
May 23rd, 2013, 08:56 PM
I think I would have chosen a girl if I only had one child, back before I had any kids that is, but my little guys are so sweet and adorable and we have such a strong loving bond that I would never be able to make that decision now. I don't know anything about girls anymore, I am sure I'll pick it up though.

WAG I am so glad things are ok, but for sure take it easy, we don't want your little Lennon coming out too soon!

May 23rd, 2013, 09:02 PM
Take it easy WAG. Is there someone who can help you?

I was wondering about the preferred gender thing because even though I thought I REALLY wanted a boy reading some of the posts here and on IG sort of made me realise that my gender preference was no where near as strong as that of some women. I think it may have been more of an issue if I'd been desperate for a boy to begin with.

Congrats Thorz and I am so glad they could put your mind at ease!! Curious if they said anything about the first scan you had with them?

I have always wanted both genders and always hoped that I would have both a boy and a girl. I think if I had two girls I would also want a boy just as much as I want a girl right now. I think each gender offers something different and I have always wanted to experience both.

I always wanted a girl I would have happily had an all girl family but I'm glad I don't I would have missed so much! I blame my mother I'm an only child and see always said I was do pleased you were a girl if you'd been a boy I'd have to had tried again and I never wanted that! I am gonna be so careful not to pass my gd onto my daughter

Thorz so pleased for you, shes beautiful too. You can go pink mad now :cheer:

Wag hope you manage to get your feet up and get some rest.

I always wanted girls before having any children and never saw myself having boys. When DS1 came along i was ok with it as me and DH knew we didnt want to stop at 1 but when i found out DS2 was a boy i was distraught as DH said no more children after 2 so i thought all my dreams of a daughter were gone. This time i kind of expected to hear boy so geared myself up for up but was over the moon and very shocked when she said girl. So happy as now our little family will be complete.

I personally don't think elective scans are a good idea.... I've read things That I don't like the sound of... I know it's nice to see the baby and all but I think the risks are just so unknown...I read something like having. A lot of u/s can cause mental delays and left handedness well ds2 I had many u/s not elective but he's autistic and is left handed and the only left handed person in either of our families so it's not hereditary

Contemplating going to the hospital.... I'm having period like cramps for a few hours now and now I'm having sooo much pressure it feels like he's gonna fall out... I checked to see if I could feel my cervix I did not poke around Or anything just wanted to see where it is and it is quite low and ridiculously soft like

Sorry to interrupt girls - i had this about 26 weeks and it scared the life out of me - not contractions but period pains and severe cramping and the pressure was untrue. Midwife reckoned she was just going through a growth spurt and as she is my fourth my ligaments etc weren't as flexible as they should be. I did check my cervix though (i know its bad but the first pregnancy i have known what to look for and was panicking) and it was super low and soft like at ovulation - it didn't disappear for a couple of weeks and now i can't find it if i tried but the pains lasted a few days although i've not had anything like it again since (although i was really worried about an incompetent cervix). I hope it all works out ok for you to and hope it might help stop you worrying to know someone else has been through the same thing too x

WAG how many ultrasounds did you have with DS2? I had a lot with all my pregnancies, I wonder if I did any damage too.

Mum to three girls
May 26th, 2013, 06:01 AM
I know personal anecdotes doesn't = data but I had loads of scans with DD1 due to growth concerns and she is fine. Taught herself to read by four, now at school and thriving academically and happy and sociable. Because I was worried at the time I did a few online medical searches (ie not just google!) and couldn't find anything concrete.

There's always such a lot to think/worry about when pregnant, though, isn't there? You'd think by now I'd be relaxed about the whole thing but I'm not. I never really feel comfortable with it until about 32 weeks when I know that I won't have a really prem baby. This time the whole VBAC thing is getting to me.

Salsa
May 26th, 2013, 06:57 AM
I work in radiology, and there is no real evidence that supports many ultrasounds = any sort of damage. As Mum to three said, there is actually no real concrete evidence to support this. Just a lot of speculation.
Girlsway - go for it!

Wanting-a-girl
May 26th, 2013, 08:11 AM
That's the thing when there is no real concrete evidence of it doing harm or not doing harm I would prefer to stay away myself personally....

I one at 6 weeks, 11 week, 19 weeks, 25 weeks, and then the last couple weeks I had them every couple days to every other day

After you live what I live with you tend to not want any what ifs ... I swear I listen to constant screaming fits for probably at least 5 hours of my day everyday

Girlsway
May 26th, 2013, 09:26 AM

Wanting-a-girl
May 26th, 2013, 10:03 AM
I have no idea it's really just one of the what ifs I would have never thought about if nothing was wrong with him...

Mrs_P
May 26th, 2013, 05:34 PM
fish try not to worry too much - its more the 3d/4d elective scans that they warn moms about as they use much higher levels of ultra sound that the normal 2d scans do - in your case its more important for you and your baby that you have the scans.

i had the least amount of scans with ds1, yet he is the one is special needs in our family - i would agree with WAG that when you have a child with this sort of 'illness' you look for reasons why and avoid anything that may have contributed in the future BUT there are lot of things that are linked to this condition, most of them are coincidences and you cannot avoid the situation - it would be different for you if you were just doing it for fun or bonding etc but you have a real medical need - no worrying aloud you have had more than your fair share of worry this pregnancy!

Wanting-a-girl
May 26th, 2013, 05:35 PM
He was really weird from very early on I would say 6 monthsish which is super early to notice autism but that's how bad it is... He would sit and spin wheels for hours straight! Or open and close doors, flip carpet corners etc... He was diagnoses at 2 years 3 months which is also super early but thats how bad his autism is ... He didn't say a word til he was four... Now he talks non stop but it's not conversational and he always talk about himself in the third person lol...

Its been rather quiet on here over the last few days. Hope everyone is travelling well. I had a fall yesterday. I was carrying my 3 yr old up to the table for lunch (he wanted a cuddle - always wants cuddles) but my foot slipped on a puzzle piece on the floor and went right out from under me! We both came crashing down with my 3 yr old landing on my bump. It really scared him so he was hysterical for a while. It frightened me too. Seeing my doc today anyway for a check up, if I wasnt going today I would of gone to the hospital last night, but I am feeling movements still so think its ok. Bit anxious just to get that reassurance though. Man do I have some impressive bruises on my leg, knee and hip!! Heart burn is my worst enemy at the moment it seems to get worse every baby! Thank god for whoever created Zantac! I feel like time is going sooooo fast! I can't believe our babies will be here soon! I feel so mentally unprepared... I actually had a breakdown yesterday when I was playing with my ds3 cause we have the best strongest bond that I've ever had with any one and I don't want to lose an ounce of it and I'm so worried that he's going to be sooo sad :( I know he will adjust but it just really gets to me

Salsa, that is scary!!! I fall down all the time because of my hip, but yours sounded like quite the ordeal! I hope all is well.

Southern, I love your pics! You look amazing, I look like a fat blob, I don't dare get in front of a camera lol

WAG I know exactly how you feel. My bond was like that with DS1 and I sobbed before DS2 was born because I couldn't imagine how a new baby could possibly fit in to the scenario because of our bond. Turns out, everyone always has their place in the family, and I haven't felt like my bond with any of my boys has taken away from the bond with their brothers. I totally get being scared about it though.

I have my scan tomorrow! Here is to hoping she is still a she because if my placenta is on the rise, then this will most likely be my final scan!! Once again I am a little nervous I'll see a penis, but not nearly as scared about it as I was with my last one, last time, I was convinced the penis was just hiding. LOL
I am getting huge, all I want to eat is chocolate and ice cream!!! I've already gained 15 lbs and im only almost 23 weeks.

Thorz- Good luck at your scan, I know she will still have all her lady parts and nothng extra!

Is anyone else simply not sleeping??? I've certainly had restless nights during all of my pregnancies but not this bad. I toss and turn until 3 or 4 am before finally going to sleep. I have a toddler too who is constantly on my hip! It's just making everything I do so asymmetrical that by the end of the day my hips and back have had it!! All 3 of mine are in carseats still so getting them all in and out of cars really hurts my back too ! Still 3 more months!! Lol

I have caught up on so much sleep that I can't sleep past 6-7 am lol I think maybe cause ds3 only started to consistently sleep all night for the past few months now... I do toss and turn and this baby seems to react and wake up every time I move at night lol... He's gonna be a bad baby I think lol....

Thanks southern... I know it's early just something for me to worry about I guess lol...

Who here would try to vaginally deliver a breech baby just out of curiosity? Cause I was thinking if he ended up being foot down I would possibly want to try that instead of a section

Great to hear everything is fine salsa :)

Breech babies make me nervous so I wouldn't but my opinion is biased as DH and I both have medical backgrounds. I've been to quite a few breech deliveries and while most of them have been controlled and planned and the outcome fine as a whole the babies have been born a bit more "stunned" than vaginal babies. Certainly nothing that a bit of stimulation/resus hasn't sorted out quickly but personally it would make me nervous.

Having said that I think someone's personal definition of "risk" is very dependent on their own experiences which make mine pretty skewed.

I'm due near the end of the school holidays here and while I'm hoping for a VBAC (first two normal, last a section) I was just thinking the other day that if he is breech and I do have an elective section it would make it much easier to work out what to do with the girls!

I'm only 22 weeks but have just realised I'll need to get DD3 off the breast! There's no milk but she still has a 5 min comfort suck at the end of the day. It's such a busy time in general that I have kept it going but I have no desire to tandem feed (nothing against it, but it's not for me).

Ive also attended breech births I have a bit of medical background... Breech births make me very nervous too... And watching a breech birth really freaks me out in general... It looks like the head is going to get stuck.... I just don't want a section but I would never do anything to risk his life so I imagine I would do the section as it lowers his risk of complications than to have a breech birth.... I will be doing everythi to get him to turn if he hasn't down so by 30 weeks ... I hate chiros and swore I would never use one but I would def try whatever they do to help baby turn and I would also let my dr try to flip him... I would stand on my head for a month lol... I read that washing floors on hands and knees can influence them to turn so I will be having very clean floors lol

I see my midwife again next week, not that theres ever much point but i love listening to babys heartbeat.

DS1 was breech but he turned at about 35 weeks and was born at 38. I was really hoping not to have a section, i'm just very glad he did turn in the end.

Salsa glad everything is ok :)

I'm not sleeping great either, i cant seem to get to sleep for a few hours after going to bed and then i'm waking up early and i really have no idea why, i've been such a grumpy mummy because of it too.

Omg! I go on kijiji its an online selling site... I usually look at the baby stuff people are selling... Well last night someone was selling a book called "orgasmic birth" the title made me cringe... Don't get me wrong I love orgasms lol but I then googled it and it's quite disturbing to me... I don't think childbirth is the time to get off... I know we don't want a painful birth but I sure as hell don't want to be having orgasms...

Thorz, great pics!

The whole "orgasmic birth" thing always strikes me as a sort of oneupmanship thing. Ideally we'd all like a no intervention, relaxed, uncomplicated drug free delivery but it's almost like to be a true birthing goddess birth now needs to be deeply pleasurable/sensual as well. Personally from transition on I can't stand to be touched. And who would really want to be trying for an orgasm with poo and amniotic fluid being cleared away at the same time???

Hi Ladies,
I know it's been a while since I've been on here. We've just been so busy since coming back from our trip to Europe. It took me a week to recover, sleeping 10-hour nights, and just getting on top of all the laundry and other household duties.
Unfortunately I seem to have come down with what is known as "pelvic girdle pain" or "symphisis pubis disorder." I didn't have it with the other two boys although I think I had it for a month or so AFTER giving birth to DS2 (he was 9lbs 6oz) when I couldn't sleep on my sides because it hurt so much. Well this seems to be getting worse now and I am already having trouble lifting one leg to get in the car or put on pants, not to mention walking up the stairs (and we have plenty of those). This really sucks. I am waddling and limping all the time now. I haven't talked to my OB yet as it started about four days ago but I hope she can send me to a physical therapist or chiro so I can get some relief. I really want to give birth naturally again and I read that with this kind of condition, it's best to do it on your side or on all fours.

Anyway...does anyone else have experience with this? Thorz, is this the hip pain you have mentioned before?

I really want to come on here more often. My mother-in-law will be visiting next week for a few days but after that, life will hopefully slow down!

Thorz300

My hip pain is very very similar to what you are going through as a matter of fact with DS2 they told me I had SPD but then with DS3 they told me it was sacroiliac joint disfunction. I went to a chiropractor and a physical therapist nothing helped. It always went away as soon as the baby was born but then a year before ttc this baby I started hurting again and I wasn't pg so I decided to go to a sports medicine dr. He did X-rays on my hips (which I never had before because I was always pg when I was in this kind of pain) and he found through X-rays that I have hip dysplasia which is something I was born with and my hips are slightly deformed and don't fit in the socket right so they grind and pop and are very loose so I fall a lot because they can't hold my weight. It is EXTREMELY painful! I'm sorry you are going through SPD a lot of the symptoms are the same as what I have that's why they thought I had it at first and to be honest, unfortunately there isn't much that can be done and it gets worse as the pregnancy moves forward. You can look into getting an SI joint belt or pregnancy belt they help a bit. But are not fun to wear in the summer.
So so sorry you are hurting too!

Ok ladies - I'm stressing. I'm super strict with not eating or drinking anything I shouldn't whilst pregnant. But today I went out for lunch with some girlfriends and we all had this chocolate dessert which had chocolate mousse in it. I didn't think anything of it but now suddenly thought "hmmmm I hope that was safe" and googled mousse and realized it can be made with raw eggs!! Now I'm convinced I'm going to get salmonella!!! I can't believe I was so stupid!!! I'm usually so diligent. I'm stressing and worried now :-(

Wanting-a-girl

Omg I've eaten mousse and never thought of it! I'm crazy pregnant person like that too... But I'm thinking it's very unlikely that you get it... Just try to relax I think you will be alright :) you could call the restaurant and ask how their mousse is made

divakotka
June 1st, 2013, 10:11 AM
Salsa, if it was a reputable place, I wouldn't worry about it. Also, as far as I know, most forms of salmonella would make you very sick but not the baby. If you are reading this 12-24 hours after you ate the mousse and you are feeling okay, then you are most likely fine. :) Honestly, I have eaten a few things here and there that aren't considered "safe" during pregnancy. But these days, at least here in the US, you see just as many (if not more) listeria outbreaks from raw spinach and/or other produce than from meats and cheeses. :(

Thorz -- if it gets any worse, I might look into that support belt. So far, I have a "battle plan," lol. I'll try to see a physical therapist and/or chiro (you never know, it might help), then I read about some gentle exercises and stretches to strengthen the muscles around my pelvis, possible use the belt. I'm also going to start up my magnesium supplement again because my muscles all over my body are usually too tight and stiff (and I've been getting lots of braxton hicks), and I'll be going back on a paleo diet (to keep possible inflammation levels down and because I feel like a different person on it). I also read that some women had success with some essential oils (that are considered safe in pregnancy). I know that sounds like a stretch but I am willing to try anything to make it through these last few months with as little discomfort and limited mobility as possible. I just have too much to do! :(

I'm so sorry you are dealing with the hip dysplasia and can only imagine how much that must hurt. Not to mention the fear of losing your balance and falling. The only thing I know for sure if that when we get to hold our sweet babies, all the pain will have been worth it. Your little girl is still a girl, right??? :)

Hayfever has kicked in big style too so been feeling pretty rough these past few days. I'm seeing my midwife tomorrow so will be asking what i can take, if anything.

I've also been suffering from hay fever! Let me know what they say you can take, hate hay fever it's horrible, I sound like I have a permanent cold!

I've booked my 3d scan too it's not till the 14th July though , so desperate for it to be sooner! I'm praying little one will still be a girl! I've brought a couple of pink things and that's it really, we'll I have a little basket full. I'm not buying anything else now till my scan. Wish I was one of the people that could have a scan and be happy to believe it and get excited, but instead I keep worrying they missed something on the scan!

I'm so worried this little girl wont be a little girl either when i have my next scan, i dont have any potty shots or anything to look back at, just have the memory of the scan. Hope the 21st comes round quick but i doubt it will.

I dont know if we all feel different during labour and delivery...my friend just had a baby and she said ao it wasnt too bad... for me the pain is soooo intense and i totally lose control!!! I am trying to prepare myself this time bettr cause i dont want the epidural cause last time it didnt take and i had a lot of back pain after... the gas helps me concentrate on my breathing a lot i think and it doesnt do anything for the pain at all!! shots of morphine just get me high... and no relief... delivery pain doesnt bother me much its the labour that kills me!! i dialate super fast so maybe thats why its so intense...

DLTAG89
June 4th, 2013, 12:27 PM
Oh wag thats terrible, was it because it was drug free you nearly died? Thats really scary. What pain relief are you thinking about having?

I had gas and air with DS1 but it was horrible, made me feel sick and out of it so threw it on the floor after a couple of puffs, DS2 i had paracetomol and then gas and air with stiches afterwards but it did nothing, i just remember lying on the bed crying my eyes out staring at the light. I had anasetic (sorry about spelling) with the stiches but with DS2 it did nothing because they had to stich the muscle and the pain relief was no where near strong enough. I'd do birth, labour and contractions 1million times over than have stiches just once.

I'd love a water birth too this time, tried with DS2 but he was to quick and came while they were cleaning the room out for me. I can see this one being even quicker tho which scares the hell out of me.

June 4th, 2013, 12:56 PM
Ya not literally almost died sorry should have clarified... Ya no pain relief was rough on me for that one... Ds1 I had the epidural and slept threw the labour but they turn it off for birth... I remember being very angry... But it wasn't nearly as bad as ds2... Ds1 was also vacuumed out :s and I had over and hour of stitches after that :s didn't feel pain when he was stitching but I very clearly remember the feeling of the stitch string running through ewwwww....my vagina will never look the same :( o well lol... Ds3 was an induction it was 2 hours and the contractions were really intense but once again nothing like ds2! Ds3 was my hardest delivery... Took 30 mins to get him out lol ds2 flew out like a bat out of hell... There is an iv drug I can't remember the name but I might try that... At the same time tho cause I have short labours I feel like I should just suck it up.... Cause I feel like a million bucks after the last two babies like I could have run a marathon lol.... Red raspberry leaf tea is amazing for after pains by the way! I had horrible pains after ds2! So wit ds3 I drank it during and after labour and none! It was awesome

I know I'm def delaying cord clamping again... I thought it was so awesome and baby was soooo peaceful at birth not screaming his head off.... The only downfall for me is that it increases jaundice and then I'm Rh- and that increases jaundice and then my last two babies our blood mixed so ds3 had a triple whammy of jaundice and ended up under the light..... But that basically the Bly thing that is a must on my plan and anything to avoid a c section

My local hospital doesnt do water births either but i'm hoping ill make it to the birth centre (its a longer drive) and wont have to go into our local horrible hospital.

Im feeling quite bummed right now, and I really don't know why! I think it is mostly because of the huge weight gain and knowing that now that bed rest is here, weight gain will just get worse! I've gained 16lbs which is about normal, but the problem is I'm gonna be in bed for practically all of the next 4.5 months so its going to get out of control like last time. On top of that, there are so many things I still need to do for the baby nursery but the pain in my hips is even preventing me from sitting in a chair so I can get in front of my sewing machine! Ugh. Well, I still need to post a pic of my bump. If I actually get dressed then I will do it for sure, also I have a friend who just dropped off 2 bags of baby clothes!! I'm already set with enough clothes from NB-3 months, do you think its bad to tell people to buy 3month+ for my shower? I know most people buy newborn stuff for baby showers but I really need older baby stuff. Anyhow, going through that stuff got me all emotional, I still cannot believe I am having a baby girl and get to actually dress my baby in all these super sweet clothes!

In my head I know that I shouldn't worry about weight, but I just can't help it. I was chunky in high school and I worked really hard to stay slim since I lost my chunkiness, and it is just built into me to worry about watching the scale go up. Luckily I have really never had an issue with losing it even though I gained 50+ with DS3 I still lost it all in a reasonable amount of time, but I still struggle with watching the number on the scale go up. Not to mention, we are too poor to buy new clothes for me, so I should control my weight. My dr wants me to put on 40 lbs, I really would feel more comfortable with 30 but I guess as long as I don't go over 40 I should just relax about it.

I hate the weight gain as well and I tend to pile it on whilst pregnant. I also find it depressing after the baby is born and I'm fat and sleep deprived and nothing fits. And I feel like I'm continuously losing pregnancy weight! It always comes off though.

I've gained a lot this pregnancy as well and trying not t get too bummed but it's hard. I still weigh less at this gestation than I did with the others only because I started out so underweight.

My bump has really "exploded" over the last several weeks. I kept telling DH that I'm much bigger (belly-wise) this time around. Also as much as I hate being a complainer I've been sooo much more uncomfortable... more back pain, pelvic pain, shortness of breath, etc. At my u/s on wed I now know this isn't all in my head. Apparently my baby is measuring MASSIVE and I have polyhydramnios which is excess amniotic fluid. The combo of giant baby and the extra fluid is causing all these issues and uncofrunately has also been causing tons of contractions due to the added strain on my uterus. So my already high risk of preterm delivery is now even higher. I've been pretty down about the news because I really was hoping to go full term.

Has anyone done their glucose screening yet? The perinatal ob said my big baby and high fluid levels could be a sign of gestational diabetes which floored me because I usually have LOW blood sugar, not high. I've never thought twice about the glucose test but now I'm a little nervous for mine next week.

I got some more cute pics at my scan... this one is my favorite. Poor guy is getting tired of having his picture taken lol

The silver lining in this so far is that my cervix is actually holding up better than usual. I'm only about a fingertip dialated and although my cervix is shortening more than a "normal" person's would, it is pretty good for me. Hopefully it stays that way.

What about you WAG? Have you still been having a lot of contractions?

Wow wag you are busy, i thought i had a mad few months coming up but nothing compared to what you've got going on.

I have my bloods done again on the 9th of july so they will most likely do my glucose then. I also have to have a jab for whooping cough as theres been an outbreak in the uk so they are giving that out to expectant mums, i'm dreading it. I hate needles so much but i know its for the best.

Thorz i know its prob not easy but try not to worry about weight gain. I'm the opposite to you tho and worry if i'm putting enough on and if i'm eating enough. I used to have really bad issues with food in the past and i find it so tough to eat more but i know i have to eat more than i usually would.

Hey ladies... I haven't checked in for awhile. Everything is going well I have just been very busy chasing 2 boys and doing yard work, having house guests, and painting the nursery. I finally decided on a color and got the nursery painted. Still need to do a few things in the closet and bathroom of that room. Then I need to paint the doors, refinish/repaint the dresser, make some curtains, and decorate. Seems like there is so much to do and not enough time!! This pg is starting to fly by. Next week I will be 30 weeks!! Yikes!!

Thorz I really love the bumper you made. My DH would have a stroke if I used a bumper but they are so cute and the one you are making is just perfect!! I would love to see what everyone has planned for their baby's room. I am going way over the top with the purple/pink in the nursery. I think if I had a girl as a first baby she probably won't be getting half the girly room this baby is going to get.

Hope everyone is doing well and hope your scan goes well Fish!!

Great news Fish, now you can relax a little.

I constantly worry if my little one is okay. I picked up a nasty cough which I can't seem to shift and I can cough uncontrolably
especially at night which is not ideal. I wonder if that's having any affect on the baby. I don't want to cause a premature birth.

I actually only use bumpers when they are little and don't move. My biggest reason for making them is when we move in two years we want the house to show well for resale. I'm going to make sure and keep them nice and pristine, so that means baby won't actually use them much.

Fish that's really good news! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!!!

So I found out that my OB is leaving the practice on Aug 1st. I picked her because she has a good reputation with surgery as I have nasty scaring that has to be cut away before they can get to the baby. From what DH says last time they had to take my uterus out to get to DS2. Anyway, so now I am frustrated to the point of tears. The only other OB in the practice that I would trust to do the surgery only has one day (Mondays) and one time (12:00) to do my section. So now I have to move up the birth from Friday to Monday (which is harder due to getting DS1 and DS2 to school) and I have a much later surgery which means I can't eat or drink anything until late afternoon. Plus I haven't even met this OB and I really hope I like him!!! Sorry to get on here and rant... I am just really frustrated with the situation!!

I want to comment on everyone's recent posts but I'm super duper tired so I will have to do it later tonight. I just painted a bench that I found at a garage sale for $5 it's a bench/toy box for the nursery!

So has anyone else noticed that Northern is back on here and is TTC?! I hope she is doing well and wish her the best of luck!

Tried to do some catching up, glad to see some of you posting more regularly again... have missed everyone!

Thorz I have had the bladder issue really bad this time. During the beginning of Spring I had to wear panty liners because every time I sneezed from allergies I would leak! It's gotten a little better now but still have to be careful when I sneeze or cough lol.

Wanting, I'm sorry about your OB leaving. That is an added stress you don't need!

Glad everyone else seems to be doing well and I'm sorry for not responding to everyone but I have read through to see what you ladies are up to.

As for me I spent some time in the hospital a little over a week ago. I had gotten severely dehydrated which kick started a lot of contractions and ended up in L&D for IV fluids. Once the contractions got into a pattern of every 2-3 minutes they started getting pretty painful and I was worried this little guy would be coming at 27 weeks! Luckily several rounds of terbutalin shots finally calmed things down and I've been back home. So far so good since then and I'm hoping to stay our of the hospital as long as possible.

Perineum massage anyone?!?

I did with both and had an episiotomy and a 2nd degree tear....... Anyone have stories to motivate me ;-)

Oh Fish, I just had a little giggle as I read your first sentence! Wasn't expecting that! Lol....
I never did any sort of massage.... I have been very fortunate and have never needed any stitches. Hoping I stay on this lucky streak! I don't know why im so lucky as my babies are all so big at nearly 10lb. I do know that my doc always says make sure when I tell you to stop pushing you stop!! Apparently all the midwives say my doc is very kind on the perineum and has a great success rate of in tact peri's... So maybe all my advise would be is to really listen to your doc when it comes time to push, but I also just think alot of it comes down to the size and shape of bubs head

I've heard that massage can be helpful so definitely worth a try if you usually require stitches. I did tear really badly with DS1 but that was because I had no epi and panicked when he crowned so I "forcced" him out. With my last 2 I had the epi for pushing and was able to be more relaxed with my pushing. Luckily I only needed one little stitch with DS2 and none with DS3, hoping for the same this time around!

Salsa that is amazing that you have never torn with such big babies! I had 3rd degree tears with my first who was only a little over 4lbs! I agree though it has a lot to do with allowing your body to naturally stretch (at least that does the trick for some of us). I learned my lesson and listened to my doctor telling me when to push with the last 2 and having the epi on board helped me to push more slowly as well.

Dont mention stiches

I had a episomoty with DS1 and a bad 2nd degree tear with DS2 and i'm doing EVERYTHING in my power to not to have to go through it again but i imagine i will. The labour and birth is nothing compared to the pain of stiches.

Ha ha though you'd enjoy that one ;-)

I have been unlucky my first turned shoulders as he came out and got stuck hence episiotomy and second I arrived at hospital and he had crowned and midwife who hasn't read my notes and had no second midwife (which in uk they are meant to) made me push him out what I thought at time was too quick lying on my back ;-( which I think is bad for tears hoping for water birth this time .......

The massage is just so so I dunno not nice ;-( probably should feel like it hasn't done me any good yet!

Good work salsa mine were only 8 & 7 lbs! Fear this one will be large!

Southern that is so scary that you were in the hospital with contractions. So glad that they were able to get things under control. That must have been stressful!! I hope you are doing much better.

From what I understand tearing has to do with how quickly the baby comes. Message and then controlled slow delivery at the end however, I am sure that is rather difficult.

Well I get to meet my new OB tomorrow. I really hope I like him. My neighbor knows who he is and says I will like him. I can't follow my old OB because of insurance reasons. The group she is going to isn't covered under my insurance. Really I don't have too many other options so I really hope I like him!!

We are also going for a 3D/4D scan next week and I can't wait. We didn't do this with any of our other ones. Can't wait to see what she looks like.

Getting ready to do some serious baby projects for the nursery. I need to make curtains, paint a dresser, make a boppy cover, paint the closet and bathroom, and decorate. I am going to be delivering in 8 weeks which seems like no time!! Kind of freaking out.

So I saw my new OB today and I do like him which is good. He seems really nice and down to earth and has lots of experience in surgery so pushing up my c-section date will be worth having him. Plus DH liked him too which is good.

August 19th is the date (initially it was Aug 23) so FX she doesn't decide to come before then! It is crazy to think that in 8 weeks I will have a baby girl. Still seems a little too good to be true. I keep holding my breath hoping nothing goes wrong. So far everything has been routine and I feel very lucky for that. We are going in for our 3D/4D scan this Saturday so I will post some pictures from that this weekend.

Hope everyone is doing well. I saw a post from Northern and looks like she is TTC. I have been thinking about her a lot. I hope her TTC is a sign that she is doing well (or at least better).

Wanting- I'm so glad you like your new OB, that had to have been a huge relief!

WAG & Thorz- I usually keep "bare floors" down there but during pregnancy is my only exception. I keep it up as long as I can but once it becomes too awkward I just try to trim it up but don't bother to shave completely. I figure OBs and nurses have seen it all and they're the only ones other than DH and myself who would see it anyway lol.

Thorz300
June 25th, 2013, 09:39 PM
Lol I'm a bare kind of girl too (shave completely), even in pregnancy but its getting harder because I can't wear my contacts anymore, for some reason my eyes are rejecting them, so I have to wear glasses all of the time, and I obviously can't wear them In the shower, and they get foggy in if I'm in the tub so I can't see. I'm not about to take a razor down there when I'm blind and can't see.

Ladies I am with you. Normally I am a bare groomer also but I have a hard time keeping things clean from about 28 weeks on. I feel like I could do more damage than good down there right now!! I might have DH clean things up right before the baby is born since it makes me feel cleaner in general and there is enough going on down there after the birth:) I am just glad to know there are other women who struggle with this during pregnancy!!

Mum to three girls
June 26th, 2013, 06:23 AM
Funny timing, lol. I've been having Brazillians for years (but leave a strip); after the first few the hair gets weaker and it's not really painful at all. However I've done nothing for about 3 months and it's getting pretty scary so I've just booked a bikini wax for Friday, I don't know if I could lie there for a full wax. They're pretty understanding there so I might ask for a good trim of what's remaining.

WAG , has your baby turned? Mine is breech at 26 weeks which my OB says means nothing at this stage in a 4th pregnancy but I was looking forward to a normal delivery.

And my hip is screwed up big time... I have to limp :s then there is my lower back pain that I had before but is just super intensified at the moment... 62 more days! I too have trouble with the full shave. I like to be as smooth as a babies bum but gosh it is a struggle lol. Ive found sitting on the side of the bath and doing it that way helps. I managed well last time I was preggs with DD1 but I must admit my bumps bigger this time.
I dont know if anyone else has had the same worries but I think this baby is a little bigger then shes supposed to be and past two visits to mw shes measured my belly and said im two weeks ahead, but when I look in my notes shes noted im ok and measuring normal.
I think shes shrugging it off because my first DD was 5lb 12. And she assumes I carry small babies? Maybe im being over cautious lol xx

You ladies sure put me to shame with how well you take care of your nether parts during pregnancy lol. Maybe I should try harder at keeping things more groomed!

WAG you are looking great still! Love the pjs, so darn cute. Glad baby Lennon has turned for you.

Mum- I've also heard that they can still turn pretty late especially the more babies you've had. FX the little guy flips for you soon!

Thorz- How are you feeling? Hope the bedrest is helping your pain.

My appointment with the perinatologist didn't go so well today. Cervix hasn't changed which is great but my polyhydraminos has gotten worse. Average fluid levels at this gestation is about a 14 and mine is 30. She also wants to refer me to a cardiologist because one of the veins leading to his heart is enlarged. She's unsure if there is a connection between these 2 conditions or if it's just random. The good news is that the enlarged vein could very well resolve on it's own so I'm trying not to worry but as you all know anytime you hear something isn't "normal" it's hard not to panic no matter the odds. In addition to this my FFN test today was positive. Basically today has kind of sucked and I'm not sure what to worry about more- the polyhydramnios, heart, or positive FFN ugh!

Wanting-a-girl

Southern are you dilated at all? Sorry if I missed it before... Placenta brain lmao

And what is FFN

Southern Butterfly
June 26th, 2013, 11:56 PM
My cervix is holding out for now and hasn't really changed much in 2 weeks (still only about a fingertip/1cm and soft).

FFN is the fetal fibronectin test which tests for a protein near the cervix which is secreted before labor. A positive result means that my body could be preparing for labor. It certainly isn't a sure thing but I'm at increased risk of delivering within the next 10-14 days.

Wanting-a-girl

Southern Butterfly

OMG southern!!! Crossing my fingers and toes for you that your little bub stays put for a handful of weeks still. Im sorry for your scare and stress!!!

I'm ok on bedrest, doc lifted it a bit and Im only on partial bed rest a couple times a week now. So its been nice. Ive passed the bed rest time away crocheting a blanket for her. Just finished it, and might do another. I don't like watching tv while on bed rest, it gets really old and boring so crocheting keeps me busy.

Wag I started losing my mucus plug at 30 weeks with DS2 and I would lose a little every couple of days. He didn't come until 3 days before his due date. I understand your concern though. It is always good to talk to your doc and get checked up on.
