Belleboi:
Good to hear you had a good scan although no nub sighting!
How can they tell what side you ovulated from? It seems like such a long time ago to leave any "traces" on a scan?
I will ask them when I have mine!

Wonderful news on babies looking well Missxo and bbelliboi!
I think you have at least one girly looking little one on there, Missxo!
Pink princess I'll be thinking of you. I know how nervous you must be, but stay positive!

I know I'm so randomly on here to post, but I always read up on you all and I'm always thinking of you all.

AFM- had our big anatomy scan on Monday and yes, she is still a girl! It really has finally set in. He an OB appt today also and she said all is well and everything looks good. I do have a marginal placenta Previa...just slightly close othe cervix, but she beleives it will be fine by the time baby is due. I'm really excited, now and I finally believe I can buy girl things. I will post pics of the clear potty shot once I figure it out here later on this afternoon. I was so nervous before seeing the evidence...she is definitely missing the little rocket I've grown accustomed to seeing after all of my boys. I think my husband finally beleives. I think he secretly wanted a girl more than me. He never said a lot about it, but I can tell he's pretty happy about it in his quiet way.

i think the corpus luteum sticks around in the ovary, so you can tell in a scan which side you ovulated from based on that.

Belliboi- I think you're right because I had the ovarian cyst (on my right , too!), which dr said is what starts the pregnancy hormones just by being there (progesterone I think)...correct me if I'm wrong. I had never known that about the little ovarian cysts in early pregnancy, though. But after things get going with the placenta, the cyst fades away. Anyway, I find it all quite interesting!

When you ovulate a little follicle opens up and slowly over in some cases a half hour pushes out the egg. If that follicle closes and retains fluid you get whats called a corpus luteum cyst. On an ultrasound they can see the corpus letuem where the egg was released and thats how they tell what side you ovulated on.

This is different from follicular cysts which is where ovulation started but something went wrong and instead of the egg release you get a cyst. Which is why if you have PCOS you have a harder time getting pregnant because you will still see the LH surge but no eggy just a mean ol cyst. You can see the two types of luteum that just close normally over time, those are what they see on the ultrasound when they check the ovaries.
This is what happens when you sit around reading medical books your entire first pregnancy LOL I am such a geek!!!

Im so serious about the medical books LOL. I practically walked into my OB's office and told her what was up LOL. she only did fundal measurements to check that the one I had done was correct for liability reasons. She told me on several ocassions "stop stealing my thunder go buy regular pregnancy books" LOL

Just had my gender scan at 16w 4d and baby was being very awkward and kept crossing it's legs + not showing us anything, the pics I have are from underneath/side view of the bits, the tech said she saw nothing to suggest boy and that what she thought she could see was swollen girl bits with the White lines on, after what seemed like forever she said Girl!
But it didn't exactly fill me with confidence + too scared to get excited, my 20w scan is now 4 weeks away. What do you make of the pics?

Nahri - thank you so much for my potty shot explanation - so glad to hear you agree its a girl! I hope so because i've bought an INSANE amount of clothing - can't wait for my 20 week scan on the 26th!

Belli - I ovulated from the right side - they told me at my 9 week scan!

Miss - I felt just like you did with everyone saying "its a girl" right when they found out I was pregnant - I was so afraid that if it wasn't that I would be letting everyone down! It's normal to feel that way when you want something so badly. I think you have at least one girl in there!

@bluebonnet22 I'm so sorry your dh is feeling disappointment but let me tell you my dh was the same way with dd1 and now he and her are the very best of friends! How's your dh feeling now?

Sorry ladies, I'm way behind! I've been out of town and came back from my trip with the freaking flu. I'm grateful it's not a stomach flu (I'm so sorry miss!), but I'm very worried about how tamiflu and having the flu will affect my babies. UGH.

DH is better about having a DD, but still has zero excitement. I guess I have to deal with the fact that he won't be excited and in love until she's here. It hurts, but I guess I'll just have to wait until she's born!

I'm quarantined to my bedroom (DS and DH don't have the flu and trying to avoid it spreading), so I will probably be on here more lately bugging you guys . Being on "bed rest" is rough - I'm dreading having to possibly go on true bedrest in the third trimester with twins.

Congrats to all the ladies getting their DG - missxo, pinkprincess, etc. Very exciting!

Hi ladies, BlueBonnet- sorry to hear you have flu hope you get over it soon + rest up!
I'm coming round to the idea that this IS actually a girl - dh doesn't want us to get carried away until our next scan but I've already been looking at some bits so might have to go shopping in secret :-) still ages till the next scan and we've decided not to tell anyone we're expecting again until after the scan (yep I'll be 20wks so everyone will be shocked!)

Has anyone else got thir scans this week? I look forward to hearing all your updates! X

I think DD is playing "ITS SO FLUFFFAY" with my bladder... SPD is in full flare and they have me in aqua-therapy once a week. Feels marvelous during the session but its like a really strong pain med, you dont realize you are hurting yourself til it wears off. I couldn't get up the 4 steps into my house when it was over. Can't WAIT for the brace to get here!!! Thanks to Atomics suggestion of a marvelous scrub I no longer look and feel like I rolled around in grease and the breakouts are disappearing bit by bit daily. I had my hair sorted out with a shampoo finally but my skin just wouldn't quit. Both my pregnancies followed the old wives skin tales. DS was perfect skin and hair and DD I've completely gone to hell in a hand basket LOL

Nahri,

I think of you often with SPD. That must be dreadful and I understand completely why this is your last pregnancy.

I have been fussing over my hair a lot too. Its making me nuts. I was trying to grow it out but I have lost all patience. I made an appointment to get it cut blunt and even so it will grow out evenly because this jagged nonsense just looks like a mop of spaghetti by the end if the day. Ugh!
I hadn't really put it all together until lately about the hormones making it so blah, makes sense. I think pregnancy in general just makes my skin and hair yucky...I guess that is what I get for getting knocked up 4 times over!! Haha!

Oh Nahri...I feel the same. My face is very dry, though. I do not break out often am but I have to constantly gently exfoliate with a cotton ball and sesame oil(very sensitive skin, so I do not dare use chemicals in it!). if I don't do that daily or if I don't moisturize my skin, I get flaky spots on my face. And winter doesn't help whatsoever. But I camnot just wash my face and go. Oh, no. Ugh. My skin itches like crazy all over my body...my back, my shins. My ears even itch! It's madness! And my hair is just stringy and unmanageable it seems! With my boys, I had a couple of small breakouts in the fist few weeks, but a "glow" to my skin the rest of the time. So I feel the old wives tales are true in that sense for me as well.

I Just hope that your hip and leg issue gets better for you. I cannot imagine. You poor thing. Take care of yourself!

Nahri
February 10th, 2015, 05:19 AM
With DS my hair was just normal, I could attribute the dryness/no shine to the very dry climate I was in (West TX) plus working in a kennel all day long. Redkin all soft conditioner (not every day) and just my normal shampoo was the fix. I was also very concerned about permanent hair loss because everyone on my moms side has very very very thin hair on the very top and it was from the pregnancy shedding and never grew back. So the biotin in that conditioner and the shampoo as well I think is what let me keep mine!

This time its just grease. I could have washed my hair in the morning and by bedtime UGH. And I did nothing but play with my son in the livingroom without even going outside once. The fix this time has been herbal essence tea tree conditioner and shampoo for the hair, and Dial coconut water body wash had sorta been cutting it but not really. Atomic recommended the St Ives Tea Scrub (doesnt smell like tea tree oil as opposed to the shampoo that is very strong but will clear up those pregnancy sinuses LOL)

Im the same as you 3boys. Dont even let me walk past the wrong lotion and its breakouts! The tea scrub doesn't set me off and its such a fabulous exfoliant especially on my forehead (the only place im dry and cracky from winter) Soft as a baby's butt and breakouts are disappearing. I may continue to use this stuff as a regular if my non pregnancy skin will take it.

Hip pain Im used to on the normal basis from an old injury, the SPD makes it feel like I did it yesterday. I wouldn't wish it on anyone and anyone can get it. If any of you start to feel tight in the groin or a pain just above/almost on your lady parts stop what you are doing and slow down or you're next lol Dont get it as bad as me!

Have to vent a little.

Yesterday I posted a status on my facebook for my friends and family to take guesses on what they think the babies are. Well of course DH ignorant family ( a few that commented) posred both boys because their family doesnt make girls ughh!! Soo annoying!! I will be happy with both boys, both girls or one of each but I hate that people think that because my DH side of the family is mostly guys that our kids will be all boys. None of them know I swayed, some of my family know but not much about it.
Rant over lol.

Adia
February 10th, 2015, 09:49 AM
I think having babies is one of those things that brings out the ignorance in so many people.

We are keenly aware of the impact of what people say because of what we have all been through and many people who have had kids seems to understand a little.

But it seems that for people who had kids a long time ago or haven't had kids at all the ignorance prevails when they see, hear or know of a prego.

I had a checkup today, my quad screen came back negative (yay!), and everything else looks good. I wanted an u/s but we didn't get one:(

So now I guess I really have to think about whether I'm going to book a private gender scan in the next few weeks. They start doing them at 16 weeks here, and I'm nearly 13.

Ugh, I just wish my NT scan gave better shots. I've gotten "maybe boy" and "can't tell at all" as my answers on every site. I'm just so nervous, and have totally convinced myself that the little nub I thought was there, isn't there at all and I'm just fooling myself. I'm trying to prepare to hear "it's a girl", but every time I do, my stomach drops a little. Sigh...I wish I could just be happy. I'm so frustrated with myself.

MissXO-- I truly believe FB is the devil, LOL..everyone can say every stupid little thing they think without fear of real-time reactions.

I also had SPD with my last pregnancy! It was awful, I needed help pulling up my pants in the mornings, lol. Hopefully it doesn't come back around this time. I feel like all the weight-training I did in the last few months for my sway could help me out in that regard. Hopefully I made my hips and pubic area a little more muscular and less likely to succumb to SPD. I really feel for you, it was so miserable.

missxo we heard the same. And when we had a proof positive girl at 15 weeks it was immediate husbands family were only boy makers and extended family were girl makers (very very few of them) But whatever pattern they got all of the same there is not one single boy/girl mixed in his family for a long time so by that standard it must be impossible.. At 20 weeks again confirmed girl with no doubts. Now its "you never know til the day its born"... REALLY PEOPLE!!!??

I totally feel you belleboi my elective was on 15wks 0 days EXACTLY. I was getting the first appointment I could HAD TO KNOW NOW!!!!! Otherwise Id have driven myself and everyone else insane til 20 weeks and then what if there was doubt and they couldn't tell? There was extreme doubt with DS, they may have seen it but the photos they sent me back with that said its a boy on them were of the skull, hand, and god knows what else. I was not going through that torture again!

People on fb can suck - I was going mental before our 15 week gender scan because friend's of DH were all texting me "it's another boy we can't deal with a girl version of DH" and I was getting SO MAD. I was so glad to prove them all wrong.

I have my anatomy scan on the 26th and i'm definitely a tiny bit anxious they will tell me its a boy - but I think my potty shot def shows a clear girl... I don't think anything would be hiding... I hope not! I have SO MUCH CLOTHING that I already bought her!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

belliboi, I am like Nahri, needed to know. I didn't do the blood tests for good reasons but once it was obvious on a scan I had to know as well. I knew I needed time to deal with either gender. Do what works for you and consider only telling people if you are up for the comments. I went alone to the gender scan and I am glad I did. I considered bringing DH but I wouldn't have been able to contain my emotion, either way, if he had been there. Alone was best for me.
Good luck, keep us posted! We are your cheerleaders no matter what!

Adia, I've already decided I'm going by myself if I do an early gender scan. I don't think I 'll even tell my Husband. If I hear girl, I'm going to just deal with it and try to soften the blow for him (although he is adamant that he doesn't care, I know a small part of him does). If I hear boy...well, I don't know what I'll do:)

Good luck tomorrow me+4! My scan is on Friday.

Aida- how did you tell your DH that you had a scan alone...I think my hubby would be really upset I went without him. I want to go on my own tho.

I have a plan of action which makes sense only to me lol! If my scan on Friday shows good nub shots then I will post them up. If the majority says girl lean then I shall book an early gender reveal. If they lean boy then I shall wait till 20 weeks as will just tell myself it's a boy and think I will need longer to get my head round it to digest. Hopefully I will then be ready to hear the words boy by a professional.

Im not convinced its the nub at all me4. Its not the same color as the rest of the tissue. I think its thigh bone. But I cant be 100% the first shot baby is mid roll which would give that blurred bone movement. In the second one I see your cord but not where it runs down. The second photo I can trace the thigh bone directly through the "nub". So don't give up yet. It could be hiding a boy part but nothing in these to prove either way.

The second photo I can trace the thigh bone directly through the "nub". So don't give up yet. It could be hiding a boy part but nothing in these to prove either way.
Are you a ultrasound technician only you have a wealth of knowledge ill defo be asking you when I have mine if you don't mind

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having successful sways and healthy pregnancies.

I have been in the throws of my best friend grieving so I haven't been on line much.

My nausea finally went away at 19 weeks, and I stayed team green for my level 2! The baby looks just like my DD ultrasound. It is weird. If you hold up the pics you can't tell them apart. Makes me think I am having a girl. Just 19 more weeks until I find out. Feels like the fastest pregnancy ever!

don't worry it's the same thing with all the boy sways. i haven't seen one boy swayer in the last 3 months say they are having another girl...i feel like i will be the first to break the streak. even though that's a completely irrational thought (someone else getting a boy doesn't affect my chance of one, obviously), it's a very common one to have.

Thank you ladies for your support!!! I've kept myself busy all weekend so haven't had much time to worry actually.

What I am most scared of is not actually having another boy, I'm scared of my own reaction to having another boy. I am scared I won't be able to handle it, become depressed and not feel like I want the baby. My best friend is pregnant too with her first, and even though I'm so happy for her I will be so jealous if she gets a girl and I get a boy. I know that sounds crazy but that's how I feel.

I'm trying every day to get used to the thought of having another boy and that I will be a boy mom, but my mind just doesn't seem to accept it!

Time will tell and at least I will have more than half of the pregnancy to work on the GD before the baby arrives!

I feel sort of resigned to the fact I'm having another boy and will never have a girl. What I can't handle is other peoples reactions. I'm allowed to feel how I feel but other people don't have the right to say anything stupid or insensitive! I just want them to be happy for us and keep their opinions and comments to themselves. I'm going public next week so we'll see how we go!

Me+4- when is your next scan? Other people are what makes me feel worse. With DS2 it was really hard. When he was born tho nobody made anymore comments.

My DH has agreed to let me have an early gender scan after going on and on ;) so it's booked for sat the 7th of March!!! Scared is an understatement! I wanted to go alone but knew DH would be so sad if he wasn't there (as I would be shoe on other foot) just don't want to deal with gender disappointment again. It hurts so bad as you all know.

When I had my last boy and went public I put it on Facebook and it went like this .......I'm pregnant 24 weeks yes its a boy and yes I'm happy if you can't congratulate me don't say anything seen as all I got was oh no on my 4th son the response was amazing saying how insensitive people can be ........

We all go into having a baby excepting 50/50 chances of either gender and although we want a certain one doesn't mean we don't want or love the other with all that we are I found being defensive worked for me last time as I cried with my 4th as not one person other than my mom said congratulations to me

I finally had my hospital ob appointment yesterday. I waited 3 hours just to see him for 5 mins!!! He didn't do much. Just asked some questions regarding previous labours and measured fundal height. His comment when he measured fundal height was "hmm, good measurement". Now, what would you guys think if an ob made that comment? I'm little worried at how big bub might be measuring. Next scan is just short of 10 days away. I guess I'll know more then. I also asked the likelihood of induction. As long as bsl's are stable they are happy to let me go to 40 weeks.

Oh, he also did a quick ultrasound to look at bubs face, heart and bladder. All looked good. He didn't go anywhere below the baby's bladder though :(

The wait is so hard isn't it? Have a scan booked March 25th now, at least you don't have to wait that long! GL!

Sorry angel it's a bit blurry for me to guess as well. Sending pink dust!

So..fun pregnancy side effect--acne on my jawline which I have never had before. I have four painful, and maybe cystic, pimples across my jaw line. Two on each side so at least it's even! Lol.

Hard to say boysway! maybe he was expecting bigger? I always do my own fundal measurements at home since I only see my OB every 4 weeks. It keeps my sanity in check that shes still growing in there. If you run your hand straight down your ribcage eventually you will hit a hard spot and thats the top. Measure from there down to your pubic bone and whatever the centimeters are that should be what week you are plus or minus 2cm. Its not an exact science but if you know you are 25 weeks and only measuring 18 then you have an issue. When they do mine in the OB's office I always ask them how many centimeters it was just to make sure I am measuring accurately myself. If you are 20 weeks and above you should be above your belly button or getting close to. This of course only works for 16 weeks plus.

Hopefully this time next week I will know what sex this baby is for sure! 1 week till my scan :D I have to say, thankfully the time has flown. Mind you, I still have family constantly asking me if/when we're going to find out. I even have family asking bubs heart rate at the last scan, looking for clues. I'm still trying to decide whether to have a gender reveal party. I haven't really had the opportunity to ask dh for his thoughts yet. Maybe tonight. How is everyone else going?

Boysway, I like the idea of a gender reveal party.....like cutting the cake and the colour of the sponge represents boy/blue girl/pink. Everyone has found out this week I am having my 5th boy and they just laugh.... I can deal with this reaction!

I will be the last I bet I'm due the 28th but I always go over buy 4-10days the only reason I was induced last time was because I begged the doctors to induce me so I didn't have him in march as it was traumatic around my deceased fathers birthday so I bet I'm in the September club and I'm happy with that as baba will be older in the year ......watch this one come early now I expect to go over

Ugee it depends on the place doing the scan. You can get pretty confident results with a place that knows what they are doing. The place I went to started at 15 weeks with a free recheck later to confirm if needed. by 15 weeks a potty shot can be highly accurate so long as they do it right! I was technically 14/6 I would have been 15 exactly the next day and there was no doubt what she was. 23948

here's the potty shot. pretty convincing, right? we only got this one shot down there but the tech said she was very, very sure. he wouldn't cooperate at the start of the u/s. was lying on his belly almost the entire time, but after a lot of moving and shaking around she got a good look (she said she had her suspicions of it being a boy while he was on his belly anyway:)). 23949

I'm pretty sure that's a girl miss! Your boy is SO obvious. But I understand your feelings as I think if I do hear girl I won't quite believe it either as it's something wanted for so long! Hope you get to start believing you have your girl in their. Maybe your next scan will ease your mind :)

missxo--your girl's potty shot looks EXACTLY like both of my girls' potty shots. There are three clear lines there, and as I'm sure you notice, a HUGE difference between that potty shot and the one of your son.

I still get you on doubting though. Like, it's too good to be true, right? I'm right there with you. I've gotten many phone calls/texts/FB posts congratulating us and everyone is so ecstatic. I can't believe it's happening either. I've been staring at the one little potty shot I got asking myself if there's any way it could be an umbilical cord...but, my tech was very sure (she's been doing this for 20+ years) so I'm just having to take a deep breath and relax. Soak it in missxo! We are having our dream babies!

Has it sunk in yet for any of you how much time is LEFT? I know the Aug due dates probably still seem far to some but being due in June I realize Ive got 3 months and 2 days left not including the 2 weeks early I plan on. Despite the immense pain of the SPD it seems to have flown and I cant believe she will be here so soon!

Time has definitely flown for me. I'll be half way on Wednesday. Where did the last 20 weeks go? I'm listening to my body but, ideally I have approximately 3 months left of work. Although previous pregnancies I have had to leave earlier at 6-7 months.

I feel like I have very little ready for this babies arrival. I like to be prepared well ahead of time but definitely not feeling that way this time.

Ive been slacking severely. We are reorganizing our bedroom and baby sleeps in a bedside bassinet the first year because with my bad hip im not traipsing through the house half tired to go feed multiple times a night. So there is no need to get her room ready immediately and I can pick at it over the next year. We saved everything from DS and we did everything very neutral with him so that way it could be used for multiple children no matter the gender. The only big things I have to buy are a double stroller and her crib. Little things like a few bottles for when its "dads turn", couple pacis, and some new burp clothes. I feel unprepared but I'm not really. I don't have to go through the OMG I HAVE TO BUY ALL THIS STUFF because I already have 85% of it. Shes already got more clothes than I know what to do with between all her grandmothers and what we purchased when the winter stuff went on clearance. I still catch the ocassional outfit and go OMG have to have this. The other day I saw an outfit it was the last of its kind in the perfect size that said best little sister and was purple with butterflies which happens to be how im doing her room. That outfit was meant to be found by us so of course I bought it LOL
